H
I have recently come to own a cup that I believe is from Israel/Palestine, made in some time during the 20th century (its held together with a bolt, indicating modern construction). Its made of enameled brass. It's grape motif leads me to believe it's from a Kiddush set, but it has some ornate Hebrew writing on the base.

I can not read Hebrew, and every AI translator gives a different guess. Some guess it's a name, a month, or a phrase.

It has two phrases, I will post the second in a follow-up image. I would be very thankful if anyone could give a translation.

>שבת : "Saturday"

>In Hebrew, "Shabbat" (שַׁבָּת) means "rest" or "ceasing [from work]." It refers to the Jewish day of rest observed from Friday evening to Saturday evening, commemorating God's rest after the creation of the world.

>קדש : "Kadesh"

>Kadesh in Hebrew means "holy" or "sacred," derived from the root word that signifies being consecrated or set apart. It is often associated with a significant biblical location known as Kadesh-Barnea.

>קדש שבת : Kadesh Shabbat

>Kadesh Shabbat refers to the sanctification of the Sabbath in Hebrew, where "Kadesh" means "to sanctify" or "to make holy." It is a term used in Jewish rituals to mark the beginning of the Sabbath.
