I really want to take up a martial art, and have since I was a kid, but have an internal defibrillator. It's a preventative measure, and I lift weights/run with no issues. Any ideas what ones would be appropriate? Basically anything where I'm not about to get struck hard and repeatedly in the chest (I own a small shield for it that can fit under clothing very easily/allows for full range of movement, so occasional accidental striking of it/pressing on it is no issue).

I think Judo and Wrestling are out then, since you can get literally knocked down so hard you get the air "sucked out of you". Muay thai, karate and perhaps kickboxing are out too.
You could do boxing, but it's extremely cardio heavy, or Jiu Jitsu without takedowns.

That's not quite right. Just play normally without any insane wrestling or Judo where you might be slammed to the ground.

Yeah but taekwondo guys use that because they get kicked at mach 5. It's still a risk for OP. Say whatever you want about taekwondo but on their rules their kicks can be unlike any other impact you have felt in your life.

Take it from me, in jiujitstu the #1 cause of injuries is trusting other people to take care of you, even when you make it clear you have medical problems and to be careful of it with clear boundaries set there will always be retards who just don't get it

Happens on every sport. You could go play badminton and you're still going to find ego retards who will try to profit off an injury or shortcoming. If they don't calm down just don't do it anon, you're a paying customer at the end.
