In a ironic sense, the adaptation perfectly encapsulates the writing. The character deaths in the massacre were so rushed and under-developed the reader cannot bring themselves to seriously care about the gravity of the situation. This extended to the people of the adaptation team, who were similarly impacted and thus felt it appropriate to just make it a cool action sequence with catchy music instead. Why pretend that the massacre was something you should treat seriously, when the story clearly doesn't?
