My father keeps telling me I'm the one who needs to change when I say everything sucks.
Why can't I find anyone to relate to that everything sucks and being happy about anything is fucking stupid in 2026, which is a terrible time to be alive and misery and cynicism is the only way to process such a shit world?

Because your worldview is wrong. Which isn't to say that our current circumstances aren't worse than they've ever been, because things are objectively worse than ever before. But what it means is that happiness doesn't depend on your current circumstances. Epictetus was happy, but he spent nearly his entire life as a slave. Socrates was happy, even as he was being put to death. Christ was happy, despite knowing full well that he was going to be crucified. The Buddha only found his happiness after leaving royalty and becoming an impoverished ascetic. Nobody in human history was ever free from adversity, so true happiness has always and must always consist of learning how to be happy within adversity. Cynicism won't get you anywhere.

It can't be forced, it needs to come from the sincere understanding that this life is temporary, that comforts and pleasures don't result in genuine well-being, and that true happiness can only come from the perfection of the moral virtues. Every day, especially a shitty day, gives you new opportunities to practice patience and become wiser, so a man who loves virtue to the point where he only cares about becoming more virtuous will never have a reason to be unhappy.
And if you need a reason to love virtue, just look at the world around you and witness what a lack of virtue causes. You can't love goodness until you sufficiently hate evil, and once you reach that point you'll want nothing more than to purge yourself of every last evil tendency.

I relate to this and i believe its high time for people to stop sucking it up and telling people like you to suck it up and live in misery. I am quite a revolutionalist so take my advice with a huge tub of salt.
I believe we need more people like you who explicitly state that things are bad and needs to change. Instead of self changing and always adapting to the misery of the world we all need to change things around us.
You are not wrong and people who tell you that your views and my viewes are wrong are not wrong either. Its just our differences in adaptation and tolerances/sensitivities when we see things that seem wrong to us that makes us look wrong to each other.

This guy gets it somewhat. You can either change yourself or try changing things around you. No one will change things on your command or by themselves. People are very very busy with their miserable lives and they just dont have time to change things. Its a tragedy of our own making. We put in place systems which rob us of our own freedom in the name of giving us more freedom.
Make of what you want with i wrote above. I hope you understand that from the beginning tlll the end people like you who point out that things suck end up changing them and make things correct for the rest of us. Since you are few of the rare ones who actually take the courage to mention the obvious.
