How difficult is it to become a professor in academia? (fine art field specifically) as someone with 0 experience teaching.

The statistics are pretty discouraging regardless of the field. But think about it this way. Lets say the people with the most potential in X become students in X. The best of those students go to grad school in X. The best of those students go on to do a PhD or some other advanced opportunity. In STEM the best PhD students go on to do postdocs. And of those postdocs, the best of those become assistant professors.
You get the point. There is a lot of sifting that goes on, and if you aren't the best of the best of the best at the start, you're probably not going to make it all the way to the end.

You have o get a 4 year college degree. Then get into grad school for 3-6years to a PhD. Then you have to get a job as an instructor.
Once employed, you have to prove yourself as both a teacher and a scholar - the first by getting good evaluations, the second by writing and publishing impressive scholarly articles and books in your field.
