I am an unrepentant snake hater. I deeply believe that the only thing snakes deserve is complete genocide. As a child, I thought they were God’s only mistake, an abomination cast down to crawl the earth for eternity. But God doesn’t make mistakes. It’s simple, really: snakes are His way of separating the wheat from the chaff. It’s simple: if you like snakes despite their hideous, slithering presence, you’re more likely to be in league with Satan himself. Just like enjoying anal sex with a woman means that deep inside you are a flaming homosexual. You know this to be true, and that’s why you participate in defending these abominations and create heathen threads such as this. Snakes are both good and bad in egyptian and early jewish thought. Snakes just get bad rep over the devil accusations from genesis, but have positive roles later on. Healing bronze snakes and flaming angels similar to snakes are mentioned. And the egyptians had the symbol of chaos as a snake too. It's nuanced, I for one believe it's zoroastrian influence of reptilian evil that permeated this.

They killed a lot of our ancestors in the past. They strike fast, if venomous it will be absolutely lethal every time. We often slept in caves for shelter, snakes crawl up while we sleep and strike. Snakes, as you know, often have great camoflague. Many will have been struck while foraging for berries and nuts and such. Of course we will grow an inate fear of them.
Unpredictable and absolutely deadly.

Also would like to add that it's similar reason for the great fear of spiders. They lurk where we don't want them to, can have extremely potent venom that will destroy us if bitten
