that is something people kind of underestimate to be fair there's a reason these companies like monsanto are giants & there's all this crazy food/farming infrastructure/tech nobody really pays attention to i feel like people think "yeah we got more 'advanced' and wealthier, the war stopped, we got better tech, so we have more food & variety than in the past" but it's way more intense than that the idea you can buy a can of sliced pineapples for like $3 at any fucking store is kind of absurd when you think about it in a historical context
The only thing that changed when I went through puberty (at the age of 11) is that I stopped socializing with anyone and started spending 24/7 on the internet. Other than that, nothing changed (other than my body, of course, but it didn't matter to me at all).
