Cabbage clears lettuce any day of the week in every way, it's not even close

Correct. Lettuce waters down flavors and gets in the way.
Cabbage tastes good and improves foods

That pic serves to show how similar they look to justify your stupid ass comparison.

In the Balkans we make a very simple cabbage salad with a bit of oil and apple cider vinegar. You crush the sliced up cabbage with your hands for a few minutes and then let it sit for a few hours salted before dressing. I usually don't like eating cabbage as a salad because it has a weird styrofoam like feel when you're chewing it but when it softens like this the texture is great and it still retains the crunch. Great with grilled meat and whatnot.

I don't use lettuce much either, pretty much only for sandwiches and ceasar salads. and I don't think cabbage can replace either of those. I mean you could put it on a sandwich, but it doesn't sit as well as lettuce imo unless you make it into a coleslaw or something.
I would say though that lettuce is mostly competing with other leafy greens like spinach and arugula/rocket, more than it is with cabbage. cabbage doesn't work that well in a non-coleslaw-esque salad, but there are other greens better than lettuce for that too.

Pretty much this.
They are not interchangeable. I think many just think of Iceberg lettuce just because of it's crunch but it's pretty tasteless compared to say the English Globe lettuce but again it's best with salads and sandwiches.

Post yourself eating a sandwich with a leaf of cabbage in it.

A proper cabbage slaw is incredible. Not a big sloppy creamy mess kind, those are gross. My salads I make at home are mostly cabbage, thin mandolin shaved red and green cabbage, a leaf or two of iceberg lettuce torn into fork sized pieces, shaved carrot, shaved beets, and thin freshly sliced red onion (just keep shaving off the end of the same onion and put it back in the fridge)
iceberg AND cabbage are both absolute staples in the fridge!

Cabbage has a tougher consistency. Lettuce is more crisp and delicate.
>hurr texture autist!
Not being an autist doesn't mean you can't appreciate the simple fact that different textures provide a different experience and compliment certain dishes better than others.

Also I love cabbage. My favourite sandwich of late is cold cuts and a thick slab of spicy coleslaw. Perfect.

depends how dedicated you are to the hipster doofus lifestyle
fuck the BLT, I'm have a BCP - bacon, raw cabbage, and fresh slice of pomegranate

It has to be sliced very finely or marinated/brined or something to soften it. I like raw cabbage but it's not good for everything.
Is there any reason to have cabbage instead of brussels sprouts though?

Now re-read the the OP.

Lettuce is usually better for salads and tacos as well as sandwiches.
I agree a whole head of Lettuce isn't usually worth it unless you're feeding a family. But you can usually find 1lb bags of the stuff that you could easily go through by just making a salad on the side of a few meals.

>filler
What does that mean? When you make cabbage soup what are you "filling"? You people with your bullshit ideas of value really need to fuck off forever. You don't understand anything about food at all.

Cabbage is GOATed. I even like it on a sandwich as normal cooked salted cabbage alongside a strong or salty meat, the cabbage doesn't even need to be sauerkraut

Does that video clip embody the childlike, female joy that you feel over cabbage, anon?
Why the fuck would you post such a thing? Is it for your young daughter who's with you and interested in daddy's online discussions?
LOL, I think we both know the answer to that, don't we?
Disgusting.

texture is not subjective, it's an objective qualitative phenomenon. you're the autistic one. nearly everybody agrees that texture is important to food, except for you. just blend up all your food into mush if you don't think so. nothing more autistic than that. you know that sensory issues surrounding food and texture is one of the primary traits of autism?
