>the common man can now afford to eat large portions of meat
>people still choose to eat shit like picrel
I really just don't get it. Outside of smoked salmon sushi there's never a time where I'm like "man I really need some fish right now". It's just a shitty meat substitute with strange flavours and textures. I don't hate fish and chips but how does anybody choose it over chicken tenders and chips? I bought some canned kimchi the other day and it tasted like ass because it had "shrimp juice" in it so I went back the next day and bought the vegan version, and low and behold it tastes better when there isn't a pungent fishy taste to it.

I don't eat noxious, foul-smelling DEI food because I'm an upper middle class American in the upper midwest. Feels good to be pulling in over $64k a year, too bad the nanny state steals a bunch of it to pay libtards to trans our kids but God will provide. Get a job, get some man food, this ain't rocket surgery kiddo. You can take my steak from my cold, dead hands.

>$64k a year
>upper middle class
I love when the poor don't understand just how poor they truly are. You're like that guy who also claimed to be upper middle class, told us where he lived and not only was the average income below six figures and the average home price only slightly above it, but there was a fucking Ross there as well. That's an absolutely monstrous level of destitution to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if his first words were "would you like fries with that?"
Just poverty stacked on poverty. Horrible.

Maybe she is larping but there are actual people on this site who think $100k salary is wealthy. It's laughable that there are people so poor here that they'd think that's an impressive income.

A healthy adult male can eat a shitload of light tuna safely, but albacore may be problematic. There's a misconception about this because the mercury guidelines reported in the media are not for healthy adult males but rather children and women who may become pregnant.
It's difficult to find current official guidelines for mercury intake for normal, healthy adults who will not become pregnant in the near future. It appears most guidelines are set with children and women who may become pregnant in mind.
https://www.wam.go.jp/wamappl/bb11gs20.nsf/0/49256fe9001b533f49256ef40 02474e9/$FILE/2-1_1.pdf does cite a limit of 3.3 µg per kg of body weight for the general population, which was later updated to 1.6 to account for pregnant mothers and children.
So, for a couple reference points, since I assume the largest group of posters on 4chan is American adult males:
- The average U.S. adult male is 5'9". At this height, a weight of 147 pounds is right smack in the middle of the healthy BMI range. A 147 pound adult male can safely intake 220 µg of mercury per week. https://www.fda.gov/food/environmental-contaminants-food/mercury-level s-commercial-fish-and-shellfish-199 0-2012 states that the average canned light tuna has 0.126 µg/g of mercury. The 4 oz cans of light tuna I buy say 113 grams drained weight. So, 14.238 µg of mercury per can. 220/14.238=15.451608372 so a 147 pound adult male can safely intake 15 cans of light tuna per week.
- The average U.S. adult male weighs 199.8 lbs. Going by the above numbers, a 199.8 pound male can safely intake 21 cans of light tuna per week.
Canned albacore has, on average, .350 µg/g of mercury.
.126/.35=.36
15*.36=5.4
21*.36=7.56
So five cans per week for a 147 pound male, seven cans per week for a 199.8 pound male.

If you look at the pdf in >>21909842 they explain the formula they used to set the limit to 1.6 for pregnant mothers and children. In the formula, b = elimination rate constant.
In other words, they considered bioaccumulation when setting that limit.
The .pdf also references a 1990 WHO document with a formula that the formula in the pdf was based on. That WHO document can be found at https://www.inchem.org/documents/ehc/ehc/ehc101.htm
b in that formula also = "the elimination constant"
I am assuming the formula in that WHO document is the one they relied on when setting the 3.3 general population limit (before it was updated to 1.6 to account for children and pregnant women).
In other words, the 3.3 limit and the later 1.6 limit both took bioaccumulation into account via the elimination rate.

>that's still a very low amount of your diet which can be canned tuna
Um, no?
An average U.S. male can literally safely eat three meals per day which use a can of light tuna as their protein source.
Do that and you're gonna get real fucking sick of tuna real fucking fast.
In other words, that's way more tuna than anyone needs to eat.

A 147 pound male (middle of healthy BMI range for U.S. adult male of average height) can safely eat five cans of ALBACORE per week.
A 199.8 pound male (this is the U.S. adult male average weight) can safely eat 21 cans of LIGHT TUNA per week.
Read the post. If you don't understand it, read it some more until you do.

>shitty meat substitute
You're one of those people who thinks a certain way about things. You feel that some foods are "fillers", don't you? You're wrong. Fish is BETTER than "meat", if you really think there's a distinction.
Go back to your chicken tenders, you incel manchild.

There are actual people on this site who think owning more than one video game console at a time in the 90s is a sign of extreme wealth. I wouldn't be surprised if these retards genuinely believe a $64k salary is the top of the socioeconomic ladder. It's like when my ex and I took her country cousin out to eat. "I ain't never been nowhere this fancy, ahyuk".
It was just some diner.
But I guess not eating off melamine = fancy to those people. Their poverty would disgust me if it wasn't so damned entertaining.

>do they believe fish are not animals?
I got into an argument with a "scientist" (degree from a Christian university but she does legit work as a chemist) that fish are not animals. Yes, there are some people, even ones with graduate degrees in chemistry, who are that stupid.

Pig good but only because it's infinitely spice-able. I don't like my beef to be spiced outside of rendang and reshmi kebab. And I hate beef when it's smoked. Tastes like ass. Beef hotdogs are a fucking travesty and the less said of pastrami, the better but gimme a good quality steak and I'll fuck that bitch up like a starving junkyard dog.

My wife is Indian and she laughed like fucking mad today at something on the Simpsons. We've been watching old episodes by using a random number generator to decide what we watch and the one that came up today had a scene where Apu and Manjula were at Moe's and Moe greeted them as "Apu and She-pu". She thought that was the funniest shit ever and I laughed because she laughed. It was a nice moment. : )

I SAID THE SAME THING! She said that they're fish.
In another conversation, she also argued that sharks are not fish and when asked "the what the fuck are they, then?!" she said "the same thing as stingrays, whatever they are." Bitch, they're fish. Stingrays are cartilaginous fish and so are sharks and both are animals.
My wife and I hate her so goddamn much but she's my best friend's wife and they've been together twenty years now. She ain't going nowhere.

How? You want Portuguese fish and you don't tell anyone where you are so the best advice you can get is "go to Portugal."
I'm not gonna suggest Carrefour or Ipercoop only to find out you don't live in proper Europe but rather some Eastern plaguestate shithole like Slovakia. Fuck off to Portugal, you helpless twat

I really just don't get it. Outside of chicky tendies there's never a time where I'm like "man I really need some meat right now". It's just a shitty beans substitute with strange flavours and textures. I don't hate burgers but how does anybody choose it over baked beans and tomato sauce? Oh, hey, that was my post.
To be fair, beef bacon is the only exception to this otherwise steadfast rule unless you count dhungar "smoking". Steaks and burgers are fantastic after they've been dhungar'd with oak coal and melted tallow.
Look it up. My wife does that dhungar shit to several of her curries and things. I adopted it for non-Indian uses. Her choka (basically Indian roasted salsa) is the best shit ever after being dhungar'd.
What're y'all having for lunch? I wfh. About to cook a steak, actually.
