What was the last restaurant you really liked to close down?

For me its Happy Dragon in Bakersfield CA, they must have lost crazy money because their payment processor, square, would send you a coupon for a free $9 or 10 combo meal if you had not come in in a few weeks
I got that like 3 or 4 times, always bought a side of $5 wontons so they made some money off my vist
They were randomly closed the next time I vist.

funny enough the most mid mexican place I have ever tried was still active next door, I've been boycotting them for over 7 years because I stopped by to try them out and ordered a lunch special because it was withing the timeframe
The waitress says the lunch special is not offered on the weekends despite it not being printed on the menu.

It was a Korean place named ‘Food Friends’. Run by a 70 year old mamasan who wanted to retire. Their Korean fried chicken was amazing and it was worth a visit just for the banchan alone.

I miss it bros.

A local sports cafe that was run by an old guy that knew what I'd order before I said it. Shut down because he got too old and frail to run it anymore.

New Kum Den. They had really good yum cha. It didn’t close down but it changed owners and turned into some garbage hot pot joint.

there was a place called Schnitzel Haus in my town, ran by a middle-aged German immigrant couple. real good quality German and Austrian food, I went there 1-2 times a month. they shuttered in 2019 or 2020, a little before the covid hysteria so that wasn't the cause. Now the building is yet another fucking Mexican place, there's already three on that block.

Lillie Mae's House of Soul Food behind the San Jose airport in California. They made the absolute best southern food arguably in the entire city, but they had probably the worst location I've ever seen. I used to ride my bike for a 2 hour round trip for that shit.

It's wild that the rundown shell of Lillie Mae's building is still there. I go to the Costco across the street.

Have you tried Jackie's Place over off of Hedding & 1st? I feel like that's the spiritual successor to LM's.

The Chinese food place I'd go to as a kid closed when I was in college after a fire.

There are probably 15 or so other non-chain Chinese places in my city and only one is near as good and they have a really limited menu. I end up getting panda express if I want Chinese food now

the one popeye's that my city had fucking closed last month. they were usually pretty busy, so I don't know what happened. maybe the workers tried to unionize or some shit
