That'd be a great demonstration of how different Beforus was outside of Doc Scratch's influence, I was really disappointed when we did finally get to learn about Beforus that things like the quadrant system and how the trolls were raised were pretty similar to Alternia.

It's just the mediator between a blackrom couple so that they don't do a pirouette off the fucking handle and go on a murder spree. Kanaya was this for Vriska and Eridan back when they had a black fling. The conciliatory half of the quadrant is basically just about avoiding crashouts because Trolls are murderous psychos in general, which is something the fandom routinely forgets, which is also why nobody seems to remember that moirails aren't "bffs forever", it's about someone essentially acting like the AA sponsor to someone whose liable to burn and pillage if they don't have a minder. Equius and Nepeta were a fairly good depiction of the actual role of moiraillegiance, but not of a typical friendship understood in human terms.

Hussie actually depicted the quadrants fairly straightforwardly, at least in act 5, but the fandom being what it is continuously, even to the present day, kept misinterpreting it or taking the opinions of other fans and running with it until you've got a whole broken telephone situation of people basing all their opinions on Trolls and Troll culture on the third-hand takes on people who may not have even bothered to read the original description of the quadrants in the comic itself.

This is emblematic of quite a lot of things in Homestuck you will find.
