Like. Sburb at best is an extremely flawed game that puts a lot of expectations and burdons on the kids but it *does properly compensate* them. Immortality and unknown amounts of power are pretty nice if a big responsibility. And I think a normal game with normal kids, who aren't already eccentric to downright mentally unwell, who would be able to be receptive to sburbs sort of shallow methodology of endowing a character arc onto someone. It would result in a semi well adjusted individual with God powers. Ruling over a universe in whatever way they seek fit.

Hard to say. Given how many factors there are. If I were to construct a story with a character who is based on myself and acts as a self insert than I have an idea how it would go.

A witch of breath would be characterized by having a life of isolation and an extreme desire to be free and feel free. The game would provide the perfect environment for him/her (me). So much so that I imagine their character arc would be about them becoming a bit *to* attached to an ultimately "fake" thing (sburb/the game/the NPCs). And the lesson would be to let go of that to allow yourself to grow.

My self in my fanventure idea is basically the first to God tier because of their excitement and fever in playing the game, doing all the side quests, everything there is to do. Because they are in love with this world because it makes them feel happy. Fufilled, and useful.

Well I have slightly more self control as an adult. So I'm not ranting and flaming out on image boards. But anger is not the only emotion one can attribute to instability. General dramatic reactions to things is a symptom of such a thing.

As for why in breath. Honestly. It just is what feels the most right. When taking classpecting quizzes and tests I almost never get breath. Most frequently blood (extended zodiac) and space. 2 which are closely related to breath in terms of passivity and it's role as a social and conceptual aspects.

I believe in breath being my aspect because well my personality matches closely to the sample size of 3 we have. Aloofness, whimsical and impulsive behavior. Openness and flexibility. Ect ect.

John does not really show the same level of interest in roxy as roxy does to john. And even then her attraction is pretty surface level just thinking hes cute. And usually thats fine right? a cute simple ship for the happily ever after ending.

Accept nah, hussie was PLAYING us. He set this ship up specifically so he could tear it down and do some commentary on like gender and like, the characters settling for lives they werent satisfied with because they were performing the roles expected of them, I.E roxy becoming a mother and a wife, picking up alcohol eventually, and generally being unsatisfied but stable. And john being similarly unsatisfied with his life and his role as "husband and dad". Not to even get into all the trans stuff epilogues and hs^2 tries to get into.

but even excluding anything other than the base comic. There is just not neaaaarly enough of a dynamic for me to grasp onto in terms of roxy and johns relationship, they are together by circumstance and the story doesn't give me a reason to care about them "falling in love" which really i can hardly see.

I think grimdorks is a pretty a ok normal kinda middle of the road ship. For almost similar reasons, rose doesn't show john that level of attraction and neither does john. But they have great chemistry, amazing chemistry, everyone when they first read homestuck is always thinking "are john and rose going to be together?" thats just how strong the dynamic is, plus their the first boy and girl of the story.

So roxygen in my mind is just even weaker for both john and Roxy's characters, it just leaves me unsatisfied. And the epilouges make it worse. And none of the fanart or fanfics do anything for me.

Shit lets make myself look even pettier and add onto the fact that Spider8reath DIED for this ship. now thats something petty i would get mad about.

and the most Passive class

Calliope is irrelevant. She does nothing. Her existence in the CANON of the story has no purpose and her exclusion would affect nothing. But she IS a character. And she stays one, and she stays irrelevant to the narrative.

Or, another active/passive class

Mages make things happen. They make the narrative happen just by thinking about it:
Meulin thinks ships will happen, and then... they just happen.
Sollux predicts how he'll fucking die twice or something, and then it happens.

They predict and dictate the narrative

>Seers (passive)
Seers don't *SEE* the narrative. They see the people.

Terezi uses her seer powers to tell John (a character) to go back in the past to affect other characters. She effects the characters, and those characters affect the narrative.

Rose spends all her time psychoanalyzing her friends, and focusing on herself, essentially. Aside from being groomed by Doc Scratch (another character). She has a little more narrative weight on account of her Aspect literally being THE NARRATIVE ASPECT.

it stems from the fact that to John, Terezi feels like the only person he can really relate to post-HS, albeit in a slightly unhealthy way. She's the only other person who won't move on from the past, trying her damndest to find somebody who very well seemed to be dead. And John, someone who struggled heavily to move past his need for goal in his life (i.e sburb) can't really jive with what's happening on earth C.
So when he seems Terezi, a woman who's still trying to do *something*, rather than just ignoring everything to do with the game, he clings onto that. He sees her as the only 'real' person in that moment, especially in candy where it really hits hard on how the retcon fucked him up badly. I feel that desire to be with another person who feels real is what pulls him towards her, and for her, it's practically the same.
Or at least that's the vibe I got, I'm mostly going off of shit I recall when I read them during high school. I also just find it cute and enjoy the dynamic of them playfully annoying each other. Something about it feeling like they CAN'T stand each other, yet reciprocating it all the same just tickles my fancy a bit.

Witches are (supposed to be) plot devices, essentially. They're one rung of Activeness below Lords. They have personality, yes, but that's (supposed to be) overshadowed by their plot relevance. Jade is a good Witch because she moves the plot along in contrived ways, and barely gets any character moments. Damara is a good Witch because she gets things going. She manipulated the timeline (very contrived btw) and that helped fuck up the Beforan session. She barely has any character. Feferi is a bad Witch, because she doesn't use any plot contrivances (like mass revival of the dead). She focuses on her own character. Dating Sollux, suckin eridan's massive fuckin bulge for no reason (Passive) and gets killed for it. She served no narrative purpose, so she was killed off.

oh and Also Dirk literally fucks around with da narrative or something.

does this make sense? am I cooking here? any disagreements?

Take Gamzee for example:

He starts by rejecting his Aspect in himself (focusing on himself (Passive)). He rejects rage. Sopor slime, chillness, etc. He's Passive and does nothing, essentially. BUT when he has a crisis of faith, he turns Active. He stops being himself. He stops being a character, and becomes a plot device for the narrative. He channels his Rage to become Active.

Or Cronus

He started by embracing his Aspect, believing in magic and wvizards or whatever. He started by being Active (we don't know that much about the Beforan session, but everything else aligns perfectly with my theory so far). But, when he's convinced he ISN'T destined for blah blah blah or whatever, he becomes Passive, focusing on himself, and rejecting Hope within himself.

i disagree on witches having their personality/agency/whatever overshadowed by the plot relevance. Not on a plot/mechanical level, but on a meta level.
