God, I hate when creators reveal pieces of lore on their social media instead of doing it IN THE FUCKING SHOW THEY WRITE. What angers me most is the case of Ribbit. Wouldn't it have been more fun to learn about her existence little by little, putting the pieces together in each episode? It would also be more fun if the characters' ages remained a mystery, so that fans could entertain themselves by speculating about it and analyzing each character's behavior. But NO, today creators can't hold themselves.

This is a little rant I have with the “lore drop” that modern creators tend to do, and Goose has demonstrated to be no exception.

I'm pic related: in my mind, every piece of lore revealed outside of the main story, even by the creator itself, remains non-canon until it happens or is mentioned in the main story.

I feel like it might have been stronger if he’d been a genuinely disliked guy, with everyone’s disinterest in his death acting as a sort of Jacob Marley/Ghost Of Christmas Future preview of the path Jax is on. Because as it, it feels like we’re getting an idea of how these people would behave if someone as sweet as Ragatha abstracted (which makes them look kinda indifferent, like sure they had a funeral but I don’t feel like anyone has a Kaufmo-shaped hole in their heart other than maybe Jax if you squint), meanwhile we’re expected to care deeply about whether someone as shitty as Jax abstracts (and I do, the story’s gotten me to care about everyone a lot, this just feels like one aspect that kinda breaks the emotional logic of you think about it too hard)

I wouldn't be bothered by that if they didn't retroactively make him Jax's only remaining friend.
I have seen some Jaxschizos act like that was always clear but it seems like an extremely strange choice to me since he was way more visibly bothered by Pomni being nice to him than his friend turning into a monster and going to hell.

tbf a big part of Jax’s character is hiding that sort of thing, I think the Pomni stuff is more about a lot of unprocessed feelings finally coming to the surface. I don’t think it’s meant to hit us full in the face on first watch that Jax is going through some stuff, and I think it reads decently in hindsight. But I think it’s telling how the fandom has latched onto Ribbit as being his huge hole in Jax’s heart, and not Kaufmo, even with the power of hindsight. Like I was surprised that Kaufmo was even in that photo with the two of them in episode 7. It does seem like Ribbit and Jax were closer, considering the mutual bunny ears, but still.
It also sticks out to me in hindsight that, when Ragatha is talking to Kinger about how lonely she is in the circus, she doesn’t mention Kaufmo abstracting. Especially with the meta knowledge that they were similar. Even if they weren’t close, surely an extra person in such a small group would have felt significant. And you’d think that watching someone similar to her crash and burn would be on her mind more than it seems to be.
Plus the fact that Kaufmo seems to have been into painting based on his room. With Gangle and Zooble also being artists, you’d think they’d miss him more.
Idk, I just feel like a vibe is absent.
