Its the only logical thing to desu. Its a religious ceremony, presided by a guy who thinks he was literally told by a god to do this. Stopping anywhere in the middle will probably incur divine wrath and certainly wont get rain, which is the whole reason for the drum in the first place

How expensive are swords anyways? They left enough to turn that dude into a pincushion so they're clearly not caring about losing money.

Emotional/Psychological. Likely involving Jotaro being his son. That or leaving Tomoe, or even just being disillusioned with Bushido. But most likely Jotaro.
Refresh my memory, did Jei ever manage to stick him with his black spear? Because that's the only possible 'physical' wound I could think of off the top of my head.

>They are Maeda-sama's samurai. He is the area magistrate.
It's the same "dot with horizontal line underneath" clan mon again. I don't know what to make of it. It's not Lord Araki's clan, obviously, that's already been abolished. Could Maeda-sama be an vassal of Clan Masaki, from the previous storytime? Maybe. There's not much other definitive info to go off of. I didn't include this mon because it felt like either Stan meant for Maeda-sama to be a vassal, or he just goofed, again.

I agree with you, Anon. I also read it that way. I think there's room to argue that this is a rare framing gaffe by Stan, or even that comics as a medium makes it hard to show the exact process of action in cases like this, but I think you're right about the intended reading.

It's a constant theme with Usagi: the virtue and vice of uncompromising stubbornness and a will to continue. Many times, like this, it is virtuous and within the context of the story a necessary and laudable choice. But almost as often it is foolish and pointless and only leads to more tragedy and loss.

Like I said back then, it's just a samurai media quirk to both punctuate that a fight is done in a cool way and show off that they're a master swordsman, doing something effortlessly that is pretty much actually impossible (same as all the times Usagi catches a blade stroke between his palms).

That could explain inconsistent color choices. If Stan isn't sending detailed instructions/character sheets then Luth just does it from memory or freeballs it.

>It's the same "dot with horizontal line underneath" clan mon again. I don't know what to make of it.
The really weird thing about it is that Maeda's own mon is the dot with a circumflex above it, so even if they're his samurai they're wearing someone else's mon for some reason.

I don't know if there is, sadly- to be honest, most of us only learned about Ten Little Critters last year. The magazine still exists, but it's being particularly difficult to find anything like an index of it- I can only find a wikifur article that basically just says "these issues exist" without even a blurb of what they contain. I guess the best bet would be someone contacting one of the old furries that run the magazine in some convention, to even be able to know if there's some catalog of what each issue contains and what issues have Stan's work in them.

What if her backstory was a bunch of hooey to make Gen feel bad for her, and she's actually just some goblin fox like the 3 or so others we've seen in the comic so far?
What if she's the fox that Usagi and Tomoe saved?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>153238030
We've seen (will see) another fox that values the life of a child and not personal property. She's a yokai but she's not EVIL, she just has very different morals to humans.
Well, Sakaians

Man is 4chan dying or is this just a bad day for the captcha?
>>
>>153235429
It's a cute look, but a little too ladylike. It's good for a lord's wife, but not a tomboy samurai like Tomoe.
>>153235444
Really seeing that Moebius influence here, good stuff. That is one thing about Usagi being a fairly grounded (with supernatural stuff) feudal Japan, we don't get to see Sakai do a bunch of weird aliens and stuff. He's good at it.

It looks to be a quarterly publication so the issues with Critters would have been in the 20/30s since that interview was from '91.

Yeah, I know they don't; it's just such a specific thing to repeat, and it bears no resemblance to the story (unlike the bums cover, where Usagi and Jotaro are plainly standing in for Ken Watanabe and his son, since it's the cover for that story).

I think the problem is that A, it's an APA, so the issue count will never have been high and the paper is shitty, leading to few copies in existence, and B, furries will pay absurd amounts for anything connected to their fetish and this is apparently the founding fanzine of furryism. I kind of figured B would have led to someone creating a complete online archive, but no such luck(?).
>>
>>153239735
I was doing some research on Ten Little Critters a few years ago, when I posted it during the storytime among other assorted Sakai's works (finding a couple of pages from TLC on FB was what sparked that entire idea), and on a random forum I found an old comment from one of the guys responsible for the Rowrbrazzle's existence. He allegedly has/had every single issue, but scanning them without consent from countless contributors was legally out of the question. Too many people to ask and in some cases downright impossible to ask. So unless anything has changed, even the people who were publishing it won't be of any help.
>>

>I have never been so invested in a character as obscure as Terry, but after seeing a few pictures of her, here I am.
I think he said something a couple years ago about actually finishing the story; considering how much different his art is now though, a complete redraw seems more likely than an actual continuation if it happens at all.

Problem is, if you contact them like "ok bud we wanna pirate this", you'll be walled off. It's why I think the best option is seeing if we can figure out what specific issues to look for, then having people try to find them used to buy. Or meanwhile, maybe contact Stan and be like "hey can you reprint this. Even if it's unfinished, just as an art book thing, as a curio, can it be reprinted"
>>153238959
I think Tom Luth was a victim, like a few others of his generation, of the switch to digital. There were a lot of artists who ended up being proven as not having a sense of restraint in themselves- the restraint was provided by the limitations of the medium. Once those were gone by the switch to digital, they went nuts. Someone like Howard Chaykin also comes to mind.

Yeah, I wanted to cope and imagine she had white hair because I don't generally like furry designs with separate coloured "wig hair", but then I saw another scan of 10 Little Critters where Stan had done a bit of screentone on her hair, making it clear it's meant to be a separate shade. So from there I used Akemi as a base instead since I feel there's decent odds Akemi's design might be influenced or at least paralleling Terry's.
>>
>>153242862
>Problem is, if you contact them like "ok bud we wanna pirate this", you'll be walled off.
Yes, obviously. What I meant was that I remain surprised that no anarchist furry or whatever has had access to a complete run and pirated it on principle already. Obviously for *our* purposes your approaches are better, I think probably asking Stan for a reprint would be ideal since he likely still has the original art, scans from that would surely be higher quality than from some zine.

Tbh we should just take a day off and have a roundup thread for the story thus far. The site is still a mess.
>>
>>
>>
I think a .5 thread or just continuing to jabber in here for a day is a good suggestion, it's obvious that this volume got much less response than normal because of the site problems. It's one of the best and most popular books so normally you'd expect a lot of postan.

>We get something like this every year it feels like.
To be fair, Usagi Storytime lasts for like 15% of the year. It's about a 1/7 chance that any issue that might crop up with the site will occur during storytime.

CB beluski did that quiz? It's a double trick question.
>Family name: Miyamoto
>His name: Usagi
>Terry, Kaito and Yuichi (from the animated show) also share the Miyamoto family name.
So, the quiz is correct. His FIRST name is actually his family name. He refers to himself as Miyamoto Usagi .

your actual IP, or is it a range-ban? In the case of the latter, it's might not be an actual IP range-ban but is actually the result of your browser not having enough cookies to identify you. you might want to verify the session with a burner email or something.

Man, this really does feel like a new low for Kitsune. It's one thing to straight up rob people, but manipulating the desperate into buying a fake product pushes her from morally grey to flat out evil for me.
At least with her previous performances it was an honest service. She entertains the crowd, the crowd gives her money, no more no less. Now people are actually going to die directly because of her. Of course, Usagi's just going to stand by and let this happen because the book bends over backwards to accommodate her.

Man I normally love these sort of episodic one off stories, but this one just left a really bad taste in my mouth. It made Kitsune look even shittier than normal, all while giving her Megan from "Drake & Josh" levels of plot armor. It made Usagi egregiously OOC for not intervening the scam, as well as a lobotomized idiot for not taking Kiyoko into account later. Like this girl could've easily just been killed with this stunt, and the only reason she wasn't is because Kitsune officially reached Writer's Pet status. To really rub it in the guys she ripped off were the ones that got shat on while she just gets away with it all.
Just awful all around, and easily the worst of these episodic chapters so far. I was able to tolerate Kitsune before, but now I'm starting to see just why this character elicits such intense reactions among people here.
