I've read Berzerk twice, and by read I mean I stopped after the little witch showed up, she's the harbinger of it turning into a big standard normal manga instead of peak of the peak.
Some of the best stories ever are ruined by their endings. Even TLOTR has a kind of mid ending in the book, it went on too long, and the ring bearer not getting a happily ever after once his mission was complete was realistic but not very satisfying.

it changes throughout the story. Here's one. He's shirtless here, but I'd say if you look closer during his fight with the count, he's just lacking the definition we see in later chapters. He's a battle-hardened mercenary, and after the eclipse, a knight fighting demons against impossible odds, all while being hunted every dark night by spirits. In the beginning of the black swordsman arc(1 year into his quest for vengeance), he's clearly gained some fat and lost some muscle due to his sleep deprivation. By the time of the conviction arc(2 years into his quest), he's clearly learned to adjust to his circumstances and has in turn gained much more muscle and lost fat. Then again, I'm probably reading into it a little too much. All of his changes could be attributed to Miura's evolving art style. desu everything kinda went to shit after the conviction arc.
