Grim. I keep telling you guys to fucking train your abs and your obliques. Not training abs was a psyop. Abs and obliques are the most important muscles for aesthetics NO DOUBT.

when did people finally wake up to this? Ive seen the pendulum swing fully from one side to the other. The "made in the kitchen" meme was extremely popular before but now im seeing it less and less. I guess people finally realized ignoring half of your torso made no fucking sense.

Kek, he looks pathetic in unedited photos
And big compounds working the core is true, but only when you get really strong. Obviously if your OHP is sub 1pl8 and you're only squatting 2.5pl8, deadlifting 3pl8, it ain't gonna do shit. When you can OHP 1.5pl8 for reps and deadlift >4pl8 you're getting some serious core work in. It just won't work the core while you're still weak
If you're gonna train abs all you need is dragonflags and hanging leg raises anyway, at least 2 days a week, and with proper intensity (more than just 1 half arsed set at the end of your session)

you train your core by doing compound movements, yes. theres a big difference between compound movements and Compound Movements™ sponsored by /fit/. a lot more exercises to be done than just squats and deadlifts

>when did people finally wake up to this?
I made a post on here back in 2019 about it, and that's what caused the cascade effect. A few people did it, saw results, posted about it, and eventually it got to some youtubers who started preaching for it.
It was entirely due to me. You're all welcome.

situps, crunches, bicycles (when you raise one leg while on ur back and touch elbow to the knee across, then for other side), jack knifes, russian twists, planks. if you have access to machines in a gym, assisted crunch machine is good, as well as the oblique rotator machine.
there you go. the key though is to do them slow and controlled like any other exercise. somewhat quick concentric motion, then slow eccentric motion. people ego this shit so much, doing super fast explosive/ballstic things that don't do shit. go really slowly and feel the constant burn/twitching of your abs while doing these.
on an unrelated note, I accidentally fapped an hour ago, and I have to be in the gym in 2 hours. how fucked am I for force output? fuck.
>>
>>77213518
desu I don't understand why people do mat exercises in the gym. shit takes the most time and it's easy to do at home with some light music on in a more comfortable environment. who tf wants to be in the corner of one of the dance studio or exercise rooms at the gym for 30+ minutes doing core work lol.
imho gyms are for things you can't do at home with all the equipment.

I also called out this bullshit advice for years
>yeah bro just like dont train your abs at all, squats work out your abs, i'd prove it to you but im bulking right now, but trust me bro when I finished this 5 years bulk i swear I'll have abs
Crazy an entire generation of retards fell for this shit, it's just a cope lazy retards made up because doing abs fucking sucks and it hurts and is actual pain and is not fun but it's probably the most important thing of all to workout if you're going purely for aesthetics but the entire bodybuilding community just completely ignores it
Same as the "cardio kills gains" grift, cardio sucks, it hurts, it's a real test of your mental capabilities, you actually ahve to push through pain and discomfort, so people lie and act like a jog around the block will eat all their gains when really you need to be an super ultra marathon type running 8 hours a day and even then it probably won't impact your gains at all.
>>77213497
Also this, not needing to do abs was always powershitter cope, powershitters will never have abs, they don't want you to have abs, and they want to lie and cope that their dream 6 pack is already exists but they are to fat and cool to care about it
>>
>>
>>77212802
>The most common meme is that they're built in muh kitchen
they say do exercise AND watch your diet. you dont get a sixpack eating rice cakes and no one says that. you just have to have a good diet to look good, thats literally all it means, exercise and dont eat like shit, or it wont matter. fucking morons online have to take everything to the extreme and act like they found out some discovery and deboonked a meme.
>>
crazy how the entire bb community just collectively decided to pretend abs dont exist, like at all, they're never talked about, "ab day" does not exist, a literal crunch machine that makes doing and getting abs easy mode and everyone just walks by it as it collects dust, 5 minute cable crunches twice a week and you got abs, even pro bodybuilders look like absolute shit and neglect them, imagine if to compete you had to have good abs, but instead the judges are basically like "yeh your mid section is fat and bloated and you look retarded but we dont care about that because HOLY SHIT THOSE LATS LOOK AT THE HAMSTRINGS".
Truth is everyone's just a junky that wants to do the stuff that looks hard to outsiders but in truth its easy and feels good to do while they make gay speeches about hard work, discipline and dedication as if any of this shit was hard when in reality they throw a fucking tantrum like a drug addict if someone was to get in the way of them doing their chest day or squat day

Abs are what make you actually have to go from half hearted building to lifestyle with macros and cuts.
Obviously you can put in a ton of work to be huge and just eat whatever but if you want abs you have no choice but to start planning cutting/bulking cycles and counting calories.
It's not for everyone but I find maintaining abs quite a fun challenge and yes they probably contribute more to torso aesthetics than any other muscle.

I like Scott Hermans. Basically alternating abs and obliques. Weighted leg raises, cable crunches.
Avoids many of the back wreckers. Though I will say I can find cable oblique hammers can aggravate my old bulged disc sometimes.

How many pounds do you anons think I need to lose for defined abs?
I can already kind of see the 4 upper ones under hard lighting (not in this pic though), but it's been taking a long while losing the last of my fat.

Nah, I'm happy with my muscle mass.
All I want is abs, so I can return to maintaining and eating sour gummies.

Yeah, when you get genuinely strong they do give the abs a lot of work. The issue is when you get some idiot OHPing fucking 40kg and squatting 100kg saying "WhY tHiS wEIgHt nO bUiLD AbS"
an 80kg OHP and 160kg squat takes a genuinely strong core
>>
>>77212794
From this flex that looks like a solid base if not better than usual for thick core and big upper body proportions. Usually it's hard to have a big core and a chest to match. Of course you need big lats/delts/traps like cmon it's the 2020s I personally want to look like I can grab someone by the wrist and rip their arm off have some goals.

>bad at posing

>therefore all else stagnates or plateaus
I'll coach him I'll teach him how to go from getting bent over and buttfucked to being the one straddling your ass and spreading your cheeks.

A strong core from squatting does not give you visible abs retard, squatting works your Transverse Abdominis, AKA the INNER CORE muscles, these muscles ARE NEVER VISIBLE AND ARE NOT RELATED TO THE VISIBLE 6 PACK MUSCLES AT ALL.
This is why you "squats are a core workout, therefore squats will give me abs" are such fucking retards, SQUATS WILL NEVER GIVE YOU ABS, YOU ARE NOT WORKING OUT YOUR 6 PACK MUSCLES BY DOING SQUATS YOU RETARD.
"Outer core muscles, or "global muscles," are the superficial, powerful muscles responsible for trunk movement (bending, twisting, lifting) and generating overall strength. These fast-twitch muscles include the rectus abdominis, obliques, erector spinae, and glutes. They differ from the deep "inner" core (stabilizers) by acting as primary movers rather than deep stabilizers"
ARE YOU FUCKING BENDING AND TWISTING WHEN YOU DO A SQUAT YOU FAT FUCK?
NO?
THEN YOU ARE NOT BUILDING VISIBLE ABS IN ANY CAPACITY.
Holy fuck this absolute powershitter cope meme that squats are an ab workout needs to die I cant believe you retards actually fall for this shit

Is it worth training obliques? I already have relatively wide hips. I'm going for the V-taper look so I train abs but skip obliques as I don't want to make my waist blocky.

I do, but I just found out I have a small loose skin pouch, even though I was never that fat, so It's unlikely they'll ever be that defined.
Still, I'll keep training them, so at least the four upper ones show a bit more.
