Yep being house poor is a real thing anons. I already dumped 20k USD worth of repairs in a 2 year period and likely will dump more. Thankfully no debts aside from the house and a healthy savings makes up for it.

I keep hearing about programmers struggling to find jobs but I work in embedded and had pretty much 0 issues finding a job last year and most new candidates I see coming in almost get hired on the spot too. Is it just the high-level web-dev programmers that are being replaced by jeets and AI or are they coming for me too? I suppose I could pivot towards PCB design when the time comes.
>>
>>
>>108246209
Or work even less than that for great pay. You gotta find your niche anon.
>>108246116
Most general programming jobs are getting fucked but more speciality stuff is still running. IBM's Fintech division is doing fine. Med tech is always a hit and miss but generally not on the down turn and aeronautical/aerospace still needs programmers/EE guys to help whatever teams they got.
>>
>>108246116
No web devs were replaced by AI at my company yet and there are 0 Indians on staff, but management also declared that they did not plan on doing any hiring this year due to the usefulness of our integrated AI tools. Just a matter of time until some people are removed due to either not being able to keep up or lack of value provided to the company. So the future is bleak for juniors trying to get in and mid levels trying to stay afloat.
In the mid to long term, I think coding w/ no AI assistance is going away for all domains. Web dev is already at that point where AI assistance is becoming required rather than suggested

Those were always just blind retards parroting other blind retards. Embedded pays less than webdev and is offshored heavily to jeets in India.

Im working as technical support, i understand jira/kiban/logstash and some api stuff for our field (igaming) checking some other branches i see you need also some knowledge for postgres, mssql, oracle, postman
How/where the fuck do i learn this stuff? Is it worth to deep dive into for the future? You never know when something is handy
>>
>>108246609
>postgres, mssql, oracle
All database stuff. Just learn about the one that you'll actually use on the job. General SQL concepts/knowledge will be useful for any DBMS.
>postman
Good app for testing backend services via their interfaces. Could be useful if you have to debug your company's web app I guess. More dev oriented.
>How/where the fuck do i learn this stuff?
Endless YouTube videos about this stuff. Can also just ask AI how to do stuff

idk, maybe they actually met reality?
its a shit dead end job chock full of user hostile, nda ridden everything and you’re paid at least 30% worse than a bootcamp webshitter. oh and like 90% of it got outsourced to asia.
either you’re in one of the bigboy companies like nvidia (they do some embedded but not that much) or you prepare to spend your entire life writing drivers
I’d rather dig ditches

Ah yes, having to rescue a Windows disk by making a disk image, mount it into my work laptop, make a copy of that backup as an original and then slowly remove or replace everything that exists in that partition that made it unbootable for a medical facility that really needs it and yet never thinks of a backup.
Why do medical people never think about making backups regularly?
I fucking hate these people, it will cost a lot for them, then they will complain it costs so much.
Why not just pay some money on the side and set up a veeam backup routine to back up that shit to a nas at least regularly on a 7 to 14 day basis?
>>

Well, because of it now they will get a huge ass fine in form of a bill. It's not my problem, except they wasted my time I need to learn and manage to get enough input from a colleague that put in his notice.
At least they are paying me to learn how to do this shit, since they are too retarded to be preventative about it.
Muh preventative care, how about fucker cares about backup?
I simply can't get through him and get trained by him without a fucking retard calling in.
It just fucking sucks.

I'm making $105k for 40 hours. Taxes/Social Security/retirement/benefits knock it down to about $72k. Rent knocks that down to about $52k. Car insurance, food, gas, and I'm down to the 40s. Can't imagine having to raise a family and pay down an actual home on that.

jfc, and here I am wondering if I should spend $350/mo on rent, about 10% of my $33k after-tax salary... in south america.
>>
>>108248993
Everytime i hear a border hopper about the prices of their country i can't help but think about how much more expensive shit has gotten. Before tax cost of an apartment is roughly 30-40% in the states after tax it feels more like 60%.

It's actually much cheaper than where I lived / went to school at in SoCal. But yeah, I have no idea how $20k for a 1 bedroom apt became the norm. I actually rent out a house myself and it feels like a hack how my tenants pay my monthly payment and more (when it's not vacant)

I'm going to get layoff next month bwos... my boss said last year that I was going to be fine and should be no problem renewing my contract but then the boss somehow "claimed" that the upper management don't approve it. He tried to get me to applied for the same job but with FTE title but I doubt it's going to work as my boss said he has little control about it..
Atleast I got a nice servant pay and some saving that I could survive for a year, but looking at this hellhole job market I don't have any hope for...

It's harder for sure. Instead of code you write yaml config files and you have to know exactly what you're doing. Enjoyable? Kind of, when you manage to set up working environments or CI/CD pipelines.
Also depends what you'll be doing. DevOps roles can vary significantly.

When people are not actually qualified for their job some will just try to talk a lot about what they are doing. They do this to create the appearance they have done something useful.
I literally had a jeet boss who provided the "feedback" to talk more during meetings if you didn't have anything to say, so that people would "notice" you.
On a side note never take a job with jerts in management. I was forced to break that rule and my life is suffering.

>I have to plot out and chart operational stuff best practice from external sources
>I'm discouraged from talking to the operational team on feedback until I get a proof of concept out and higher leadership looks and approves it first.
>because it goes to higher leadership, proof of concepts must ALWAYS look Prod Ready
>I get a lot of nitpicking by my manager and upper leadership because of this on wording of the proof of concept and format and stuff when my impression was just to get the initial idea working first than cave out the details with the operational team.
>Project goes nowhere because nobody's actually pushing for the change, operational team doesn't know about it, upper leadership just sits on it because "uhm acktually i don't really like this small little thing about the process" and then someone else from upper leadership goes "nope it's better this way" and they just ping pong and forget about it for the next fucking initiative which has the exact same fucking loop.

I know everyone knows "bad management bad lol" but I really don't understand why it's as socially accepted as it is. People a few hundred years from now are going to look back on it the same way we look back on medieval three field crop rotation. Every year they just...didn't use a third of their land? And regularly starved? Were they stupid? Half the people at these companies just...didn't contribute any meaningful value or accomplish anything? People made decisions with no real understanding of the subject matter they were dealing with? They just sat for hours in meetings that ended with no actionable outcomes? And they laid off all the devs because of AI? Were they stupid?

the rubes are retarded. Goyim are synonymous with "cattle" for a reason. You have no concept of loyalty, tribalism, or long term thinking. We will keep getting slow trickles of massive layoffs every few months until 80% of college graduates are underemployed.
There will be no massive wave where unemployment shoots from "10%" to 80%. This is by design. If there were millions of layoffs in a month, it would cause riots. Instead you're going to get a slow trickle with the heat in the pot rising until we're all boiled alive. And the goyim will do nothing about it.
I'm next.

The people in charge of analyzing business needs and translating that to IT projects at our company can't even seem to do their own jobs. They regularly just turn up empty at meetings that are supposed to be presentations of projects they design, where instead they just shit and moan about how complex it is. I don't know why they're still employed. Then when somehow they start figuring out what the project is supposed to do, they ALSO can't even make anything akin to a technical design for how it'll be implemented. They can't make UI mockups, or database designs, or API contracts, or anything. I honest to god have no idea what they do all day because they can't seem to do any part of their job nor do they ever have anything to show. But the projects have to move, so despite having literally nothing to work with, we're told to develop them, "so that the analysis can have something to work with". As if you were told to build a building yet having no fucking clue what the building is supposed to be. Is it an office building, a mall, a house, a fucking shack? Who knows just make it, it's ok we're AGILE!!

I got kicked out of TeamBlind by the gatekeepers. I didnt even post, I just lurked. They said it was because the organization didn't meet their criteria.
I'm ashamed that I post on 4Chan and keep it a secret. However, it's the only place that hasn't banned me for random reasons. I've been banned here for suspended here for Pro-Palestine content but it's kind of sad that 4Chan of all places is where they barely tolerate me.
At this point, I'm a little bitter. I don't care if they're all doxxed. I would do it myself. After a few rounds of layoffs I have nothing to lose. I guess I have a job right now but for how long? I hate everyone in a position of power. I hate Big Tech. And most of all, I hate Israel.
Thanks for reading my blog post.

An unpleasant kind of person to work with in tech I don't see mentioned very often is the spic from the poorer countries (eg Venezuela, Colombia). I've found they have the annoying combination of
>very high standards for everyone else's work, but very low standards for their own
>saving face is very important for them, so they bullshit instead of admit they have no idea what they're talking about, can't take any criticism, etc
Does anyone have any advice for dealing with them? One thing I've tried is giving them the rope to hang themselves with, but that also usually means creating more work for me having to clean up their mess.

I'm an intern who is about to be brought on full time in a few months once my degree is finished.
All the time the actual employees complain to me that other interns are totally incompetent and are clearly just mashing out AI slop that they don't understand and then making a pr. They're making mistakes and decisions that no human could possibly make and it's very obvious even to me reading their code that they don't understand it, and probably didn't read it.
As far as I can tell, I'm the only intern who has been hired in years.
Is this the case everywhere?

how is the news going to affect my pending interviews for a government job

I don't even know what particular news you're talking about, but we live in uncertain times so it's best to not get your hopes up about anything or put all your eggs in one basket.
Go send another application.

We recently held an eye-opening Q Developer workshop for about 25 project members. Our testers, chosen for their prior AI experience, used AI to catch up on a massive testing backlog. The developers were also behind schedule, so they were given AI access and encouraged to use it.
However, the workshop revealed that most non-testers had no idea how to use AI effectively. Unlike our experienced testers who understand prompt engineering, beginners treated the AI as intelligent rather than a context-based text generator. They wrote vague prompts like, "Find a data transformer and make it work good." As a result, the AI hindered rather than helped them.
Frustrated by these early struggles, many beginners abandoned AI entirely. People avoid AI for valid reasons: poor prompting skills, a need to physically type the code to understand it, or simply enjoying writing code themselves. Yet, those who refuse to adapt risk being left behind.
Ultimately, once truly advanced AI emerges, we’ll probably all be replaced anyway.

So, I was hired to modernize a legacy Java banking app with a small, long-term team. The app is painfully slow and dated. Surprisingly, my senior dev buddy supports updating it, but I want to ensure the rest of the team feels respected rather than forced.
My background is Next.js/TS. A friend in fintech loves Rust, and I’m considering pushing for that. I do not know the language yet, but I am confident we could learn it quickly. The alternative is choosing something that is easier for Java developers to transition to.
>Just stay on Java
I dislike Java and believe Rust is a stronger marketing sell as a modern stack.

So you're a complete retard that believes whatever jewtubers say.
Java is perfectly fine and fast, if the app is slow that means it most likely is written poorly. Or database queries are poorly designed or not optimized.

My dishwasher is currently missing, pending a new install. Yesterday my 33 gallon basement fish tank wound up having a miniscule leak that went unnoticed and wound up under vinyl floor that i ripped up so not only is there a big hole in the wall where a tank used to be but it smells a little and some of the floor in my nice basement (basically a bar, pool room, movie theater room; where 99% of the fun happens when people visit)
My ex (who i am still friends with) is bringing her friend over tomorrow, a 19yo girl, in an attempt to hook us up together (im 31) and she's going to see a clusterfuck of things going on but i think i can construct something to put in place where the fish tank was in a day. I have a fuckton of lumber on hand including nice project board

Rust is a systems lang, it doesn't suit the same contexts that Java is good for (application programming for the enterprise). Unless this is something low-level like core banking, you won't notice any performance improvements when doing map/filter on a page of thousand of CustomerEntities.

>The primary distinguishing characteristic of systems programming when compared to application programming is that application programming aims to produce software which provides services to the user directly (e.g. word processor), whereas systems programming aims to produce software and software platforms which provide services to other software, are performance constrained, or both (e.g. operating systems, computational science applications, game engines, industrial automation, and software as a service applications).
different approaches to performance(see above) plus the fact there's a mature Java library for any webshit idea you may want to implement

I've owned my own house twice and hated it each time. Back in a high rise downtown apartment and I absolutely love it. The only real problem is not having equity, so I'm trying to offset that with extra savings (which is easy not paying for house repairs)
For some people like me the American dream is a nightmare

Should I start a CS master’s at almost 30 years old? I work full-time, but my team lead would make sure my workload isn’t too heavy(this was her idea) and give me enough time for work, degree, and personal stuff.
I work for the government, so getting a master’s would allow me to qualify for a better paying job.
