1st for IBM MODEL M.

found a kinesis advantage in the trash today. going to refurb it then compare to my glove80

why do zoomers hate clicky switches? the whole point of a switch is to click. creamy linear shit is nice but feels like a vegan steak; an impossible burger of input

when you use mt3, where do you get the 1.5u mods? almost no mt3 sets have an ergodox addon
>>
>>108298879
>almost no mt3 sets have an ergodox addon
They used to. Hell I have four MT3 sets with ergo kits (two dev/tiddies, serika & godspeed). Right now the only one that does that's in stock is godspeed. I'm considering getting another godspeed MT3 set before drop is kill.
>>
>>108298898
it's weird that there aren't any clearance sales or anything yet. i was holding out for that. i wonder if mt3 will really be gone or if corsair is just that jewish
>>
>>108298919
They are discounted right now, anywhere from 2X% to 6X% depending on the kit. Who knows what the future of MT3 is to be honest. Sad really, it's a really nice profile.
>>
Any wireless keyboard recommendations? Selling my ducky since one the keys is going bad.
>>
>>108298942
They claim that a bunch of Drop stuff is still going to be sold on Amazon and through other Corsair vendors, but that does still leave the question of what's going to happen to MT3, especially all the sets that are "Drop original" or are known for being on Drop like /dev/tty.

In a perfect world I'd kill for Corsair to just release the tooling for general chinky use and we can get a metric boatload of MT3 clones of GMK colorways and shit like that.
>>
>>108298981
I wouldn't mind if GMK got a hold of the MT3 molds to be honest, they already have MTNU after all. The molds for ergo kits already exist too. Part of the appeal is that they actually are pure PBT caps, unlike a lot of "PBT" sets out there.
>>
>>108298994
If GMK could figure out how to get costs down to what Drop has them for MT3 I'd like that an awful lot, it's insulting how expensive their keycaps are.

Any reason to get a Keychron Q over a C or K series? I found a K1 and K8 that I kind of like.

hell yeah MX Blacks

I want to win the lottery and spend my whole life lubing and filming and spring swapping MX Blacks

>>
>>108299069
To my understanding C is their "all-rounder" model, K is their mostly deprecated original models, V is their successor to the K series, and Q is their metal shell boards. You'd probably be better served by C1 8K or C3 8K just because they're newer models if nothing else; K series boards are so old that RGB and hotswap were variable features on them because hotswap was pretty new to the market and nobody was quite sure if RGB effects would take off.

Just swap out the bad switch:
https://youtu.be/7HYXsZqpHrg
If you just want a newer/better/different switch board and this is a convenient excuse then that's different.
>>
>>108299069
Q is a PoS
might as well get a custom
>>
>>108298773
it's ancient and possibly broken. compared to modern keywell boards (e.g. dactyl, glove80, even kinesis advantage360) it's probably quite bad.
>>
>>108299122
I dont have a soldering kit, I’d rather sell and upgrade to a hot swappable board.

milky yellow pro bottom + cherry nylon top + cream stem = endgame spacebar clacker

make sure to roll them around in sand first

if there was an endgame then you wouldn't have a hobby anymore (spending money)

>>108299472
Using unlubed browns right now

The spring ping isn't great but other than that they're really some of the best switches out there

does anybody here use a 65% keyboard for gaming? do you have any issues because of the missing f-row and other keys?
>>
I'm looking for a full-size keyboard in my €70–€80 range that have a numpad and has keys for End, Home, and Print Screen. I prefer silent switches like red or similar types and would like to be low-travel or low-profile. At the moment, I'm considering the Keychron K5 Pro, but its price is inconsistent and I've read ther QR sucks.

Before using it for what?
>>
>>108303418
Just for cleaning. I think theres something in the switch thats making it not respond.
>>
>>108303506
remove the switch and open it with a switch opener, then clean the contact points
>>
I ordered a beamspring keyboard from that Model F mouthbreather and it should arrive sometime this month or next, going by his keyboard receival windows.
>>
>>108303515
also I'll note that it is possible to open a switch without a switch opener so if you only want to open one switch you can do that

t. just opened one using picrel to prove to myself it could be done. Just find one of the four clamps that will stay open after lifting it, open the other without causing the first to re-latch, then flip it around and do the same on the other side while using some pressure from your finger to keep the open side from closing.

If you have kailh/outemu-style switches it's even easier, you can open a switch with your thumbnail alone
