I'm still on F8, maybe it's time to update. I see an X3D update in there too, and I have a 7800X3D.
I was holding out in case the 9800X3D's melting were related to BIOS, since vendors were all pushing out a ton of updates to try to mitigate it.

I bought a used Asus TUF 3060ti and thought everything seemed fine, but when i booted up a demanding game it jumped to 85-86c immediately and was as loud as a jet engine, eventually it seemingly crashed too because my screen lost its signal.
Is this card bricked, could it be a software issue or could repasting save it?
Please help me, i've been through some very terrible events recently and need at least this to work out for me.
>>
>>108304100
repasting might be worth a try but first check that all the fans on it are spinning and install afterburner to check the idle temps. maybe putz with the fan curve or power limit.
also just to fully rule things out if you didn't already do it before you put the card in you might also try DDU (display driver uninstaller) and reinstalling the drivers, and then check the support website for that model of card to even see if there's a new vga bios for it
>>
>>
>>108304155
I used Nvidia App to freshly install drivers and also check temps, at low/idle loads it runs below 40c and is pretty quiet.
The fans are all working too, i checked already.
I'll try the vga bios thing tho but it seems like it's most likely the paste right?
Or could there be a worde hardware fault behind this too?

If I get instant critical process died bluescreen right after the mobo screen and cant even "reset this pc" to reinstall windows, that has to be a corrupt windows install, right? Or could it be something fucked with my mobo or cpu? It's relevant to /pcbg/ because my computer has been fucked since i moved to a new chassi so i could fit my 5070 ti, after I restarted after updating my nvidia drivers.

they're too expensive. it's also a weird product because the whole point is motion clarity with VRR, but people who care about motion clarity don't care about VRR. VRR is for low fps to feel more smooth, not more clear.
and it's not better motion clarity than OLED, and it doesn't have the colors of OLED.

Not the Ryou IV but the Strix IV AIO, I'm planning to get a (mostly) white build with the HAVN 360 case and Asus x870e Glacial which then has the cableless AIO connection for the Strix IV. The Strix IV doesn't release until Q2 though so god knows when it actually comes out, the Asus PG32UDCM3 hasn't even come out yet and that's supposed to be Q1
I originally planned to get the Tryx before deciding to get the Glacial instead

everyone is talking about the new XBOX, it looks like they'll rush to launch it before the ps6 and it'll be basically a computer replacement
honestly I'm pretty excited for AMD consumer hardware now because getting linux support from Valve, windows support from Microsoft and the usual Sony help, it's just a lot of good stuff, it means game devs will optimize their stuff for rnda5 really well while Valve takes care of the older stuff with the mesa group.
the competition on the console space is going to be really good for us consumers, the new xbox is much more powerful than the ps6 will be and it'll be basically windows so it will attract some people away from playstation, it's not going to be a wash for sony as the last gen was and then you have Valve who rarely fucks things up with a cheap alternative, good times
>>
>>
>>
>>108305816
Xbox may have more powerful hardware, but Sony has their own graphics API they keep improving while Microsoft seems stagnant with DirectX. If PC doesn't get DX13 soon or something then it will get left in the dust by Vulkan and the next gen stuff.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>108305869
sony's api is handmade for playstation only, whereas directx tries to fit everything. xbox has to make compromises for either performance or graphics to ensure it works everywhere. for instance the shader stutter problem on pc could be fixed if they wrote better hlsl code but they can't because it would break other shit. valves aco compiler has to step in and fix it for you because llvm is too shit.
>>
>>108305869
honestly at this point the raw raster perf is really unusable info
Path tracing perf matters and you cant really see it from a spec sheet, its a more complicated architectural design thing.
also what matters is the software and specific ml upscaling/frame gen accelerating cores
Is next xbox gonna have dlss 4.5 equivalent features? probably not
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>108306091
they keep dragging their ass with spirv adoption while they keep adding shit nobody uses. its the same shit on windows where they keep adding ai features nobody wants while key stuff like the start menu and taskbar are broken.

Right now I have a ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 280, and it's just too loud.
I got be quiet! PURE LOOP 3 280mm, which I read not only is much more quiet, but also cools the CPU better because it has faster fans.
Can I install the be quiet! PURE LOOP 3 280mm without taking off my motherboard? Can I use the same brackets as the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III?
>>
>>
>>108306215
games dont utilize cores much at all
also the ultra mega core boost thing amd likes increases temps fast which in turn causes fans to ramp up and down a lot, aio deals with that and makes the cpu more tolerable to listen to

anyways, helix is an INTERESTING NAME! think about the DNA helix... 2 strands connecting... so xbox is releasing a HELIX console... fusing XBOX and PC... as they exit the console market...
(this is the last xbox, it will allow you to transfer your xbox library to windows, and you will become a pc gamer after this)
if this is priced right it will eliminate the mid range prebuilt market, and the GabeCube will eliminate the low end prebuilt market.

steam survey has been fucked for ages now, the 9070 xt never showed up in there, last month the 9070, who sold far less was there but now it isnt, it's a mess, amd share likely at least 15%, specially on poor countries using those 5700xts and 580s who you can still find at a great price to performance

the 3060 used 15gbps gddr6 memory, nvidia has restarted the production, I wonder if they'll use 20gbps memory on it now, it would be a massive boost to performance, 25% faster after all, I'm not an nvidia guy but at msrp it would be a great option for budget gaymers

rebooted, did some other cpu intensive jobs, now im getting this, looks like this ptm has a break in period, I'll report temps tomorrow
>>
>>
>>
>>108307628
You want to use a consistent benchmark for this kinda stuff.
Also, it's important to note that when you're comparing your temps to reviewers, they're running the fans at 100% (Or whatever value) before they start the test, and so they don't get the lag of fans spooling up. This means your peak temp will be higher as there will be a moment where your CPU is hot, and your fans aren't up to speed.
You won't want to run your fans at 100% all the time, so just focus on average temperatures after a set amount of time whilst running a specific CPU usage.

>>
>>
>>108307610
You're not having both the gpu and igpu plugged in at the same time, right?
And did you check the power cables? The pcie gives the gpu a little bit of power to be detected, but not enough to use it completely. It almost sounds like a power issue.

Very strange then. If a dp cable solves everything that will be kind of funny. Though it would also mean the hdmi port is screwed up.

9800X3D does just seem to run kinda hot by default and have underwhelming thermal transfer.
It seems to transfer heat pretty okay once it gets up to a certain differential, but it kinda idles warm regardless of what cooler you throw on it. There's probably some weirdness to the IHS design.
I looked up the delidded benchmarks whilst I was writing this post, and the results are way better, like 50C during cinebench kinda better. So, Iunno. Maybe AMD just can't make IHSs.
