pewdiepie is asking for help!

His vibe coded project is getting drowned by even more vibe slop.
>this ship is moving fast and feedback/help would be appreciated! (I don't know what I'm doing, help).
https://github.com/pewdiepie-archdaemon/odysseus/blob/main/ROADMAP.md
He attempts to put guardrails on them, to stop them from adding even more CSS to the already 30.000 lines central CSS file
>The post-launch PR flood from LLM coding agents drowned the repo in PRs that don't run the app, attach no screenshots, and invent parallel component styling
There have been 800 merged pull requests written by AI, 350 are still open, yet they didn't improve anything, but only run in circles creating bugs.

Security vulnerabilities produced by LLM slop so far:
>2FA could be bypassed by simply leaving the TOTP input empty
>a session_id could cause path traversal and a manipulated one could access any file on the server
>a one click RCE

Someone with knowledge needs to step up, wrangle with the slop army and make it usable! Will /g/ pick up the torch?

And hat would be a great deal. He used $200k worth of hardware on that slop project and hundreds of contributors use much more worth of Claude tokens on it.

It would unironically be cheaper to just pay someone with knowledge to fix it.

He has 8x RTX 4000 which will be $ 20k in GPUs for 160 GB VRAM at the time he bought them.
No idea what other hardware he got, but he cheaped out on the motherboard, because he didn't want to spend $ 5k on a server one. A questionable decision, but whatever...
I think you should be able to get something on his level for $ 30k now. 50k maybe, if you want to avoid unstable gaymer crap and actually use it for longer?

For a smaller business, it is affordable.
For a dedicated private person with too much money, it makes more sense to buy something with a AMD Ryzen AI Max, then you can have 128 GB of (kinda?) VRAM for $ 5k.
Or wait for the next generation which then supports 196 GB and will be more powerful and still far cheaper, even with current high prices, than what pewdiepie has.

Absolutely userless, everytime an influencer gave me a shout out, never does it translate well to exposure. Onions cred maybe, but might as well fake it with an AI gen. video instead. Really? Code "approved" by a youtuber? Retarded answer.

If he can't be bothered to at least try to do it right in the first place, why the fuck should anyone offer their time to help him unfuck it?

He doesn't have the skills or the knowledge to be discerning about which commits to allow into the project, so it's basically guaranteed that every single PR is going to be vibecoded dogshit that will only make things worse.

The only way this is going to possibly work out is if a group of people far more competent than him step in and take the reigns on everything, which, considering his fame and status is a very real possibility. In which case, he won't have done shit other that shit out an absolute piece of shit software and then get his fans to fix it for free. I really hope he comes to some sort of realization of how fucking gay and lame that is, because for a guy who always talks about how based and enlightened he his, doing that would be very fucking unbased and homosexual.

This is why I don't bother sharing my code anymore. Harder to stand out in the flood of slop and nobody cares about correctness or efficiency anymore. And the average GitHub user in current year doesn't read anything past the README. They're all nocoders who don't can't read or judge source code.

FOSS is legitimately pointless when programmers are the worst they've ever been, maybe 1 in 100 or 1000 are remotely competent. Too many clueless idiots who got in because they thought they would get rich with no effort. Too many sloppers. Why give away my babies just so big tech can plagiarize all my code and at best have brainlets and jeets opening AI generated issues and PRs?

Conversely, as an end user it's impossible to find decent new projects anymore. Everything new is crapware that you can't rely on. AI killed open source, proprietary code is unironically the only way forward.

Contributing to existing pre-AI projects is also not viable. They benefit from all your hard work AND from funding from corrupt governments and nonprofits. They go on expensive unnecessary trips, pay themselves fixed salaries, etc all while you work for free without the freedom of fully owning a project. It's the definition of being a cuck.

This is the UNPARALLELED PRODUCTIVITY that AI companies like nvidia boast about. Have you not seen the recent keynote? GitHub being flooded with 10x the slop compared to a few years back is a huge leap forward for humanity. AI is taking over. The more code the better!!

This is why GitHub is constantly shitting itself btw. Can't handle the massive slop combined with their free CI service they added a while ago. It's too much. The site is literally collapsing from too much slop to the point that some well known projects are moving elsewhere.

Of course, I'm not that retarded to ever touch that repo. Never even crossed my mind. But it's a huge ecosystem problem at this point. Gone are the days where FOSS meant that there was a good chance you could find good enough quality software you could rely on and occasionally help improve. And sharing code, especially libraries, genuinely helped improve quality by getting feedback from outside. It's not really about stars or brownie points but the implications.

He kept having turf wars with twitch thots... and then ends up promoting simping and OnlyFans.
He kept saying some low-key racially aware thing... and then moves to the UK, before moving to Japan, a completely foreign country, and promotes immigration as "based".
He promotes self-hosting, but does it in the most damaging way with this slop project, that will mostly be used with cloud AI services.
Imagine the result:
>I am soo privacy aware! I self-host a webinterface that calls the OpenAI API!

A sign of intelligence is to know when you don't know something. Pewdiepie does his le ironic "haha, i actually don't know what i am doing, loool", but he doesn't act on it. He sees himself as a goofy cartoon character that does silly things, but always ends up being correct and intelligent.
If he would actually accept that he doesn't understand what is going on, he would close that repo. That would be the only intelligent thing to do. If you are so incompetent in a subject that you can't even judge which person could be competent enough to take over, just close it. If there is a competent person willing, he will fork it and continue by merit.

I hate the shield of irony so much.
We don't know if pewdiepie deliberately promoted Belle and porn or if he was simply dumb.

You're inserting a financial qualifier as if its pertinent.
The product is not its author in any case, so why does it matter if he's a millionaire?
The users, which can include yourself, may not be.
The only way we as a people get anything for free, is this way.
He gave this portion, we give ours, we get to utilize the tools.
His millions don't detract from that, if anything it aided in creating a free tool that is otherwise less attainable by people with less, but he used those proceeds and released a product for free.
There should be no reason to divide him from the rest imo.

$150k+ salaries minimum for basically just existing and continuing to "work" on a project while most of the real work is done by unpaid volunteers is pretty unfair no? This is on top of a myriad of other benefits, all trips paid for, and many if not most of these grifters tend to make *a lot* more money on the side from some "totally unrelated" things to the main project. Some of these people are unironically rich when you add everything up. If it gets too obvious and extreme though either the og project dies because of a fork or the entire thing turns fully or mostly proprietary.

There's many kinds of bullshit desu, especially the more established orgs are full of it. It's never worth the effort to contribute to other people's dreams for free instead of your own. Some orgs organize in-person meetups and they literally don't write anything down or share anything publicly so if you don't attend you run the risk of not getting your PRs merged or things like that. It's all bullshit politicking.

It's better to do everything alone or work for a company. FOSS is full of bs when projects get too big.

>turn off telemetry
Quite literally not possible. You will get an MSA hwid which DOES finger print your machine. This is a required step of the windows process and it will spit out telemetry that you can't stop (yes there is in fact telemetry in the kernel). No I don't work there anymore, yes I worked in WDG (iykyk), yes I worked on telemetry, yes the amount of identitfiable info they collect on you is massive, no the detelemetry tools don't stop it, at best they limit it to a minimum.

I cannot stress this enough, there is not a single "private" version of Windows on the market. If you are using it, you are giving them data of a personal nature, it is not necessarily information about you as a person, but from your machine you can deduce personal traits.

at least he is trying... would you rather him just continue playing video games and being a worthless entertainer or actually start to improve his life? Everyone starts somewhere.

Regarding his coding level, what do you expect? He has a generational level of wealth. Do you think he should go to school and then apply for some dead end job and code some other shit? He efficiently made something free for his own use case and decided to share it. Do you truly think he should instead learn all about computer engineering just to spend months hand typing some better code for a damn hobby?

Same shit with his other ventures. He has been trying to better himself through reading GOOD books rather than the smut most "readers" indulge themselves with.

He doesn't even have to do any of this shit- he has already won in life. He has a beautiful wife, a kid, money.... he could have even sold out and marketed more goy slop.

Will I use his software? No. But damn, at least give him some props for actively trying to do something productive.

You don't have to study CS to be able to design a basic sqlite database layout or to write some JavaScript. There are 15yo kids who learn it by themselves.

He should have the decency to shut down the vibe coded project as well.
Let people fork it, and eventually someone with skill may take it over. It is either this, or paying someone.
He doesn't need to study anything to do that. He just needs to have the basic intelligence to realize that it is dumb to let his AI run the project.

The times of programming with random people you find online are pretty much over in my opinion. There is so much poor quality generated code and recklessness going on with both completely useless token-waste one-shotted projects and unsolicited drive-by PR's that you might as well close all of your stuff down and only allow your friends and other people you trust contribute. I haven't been interested in looking at GitHub for a while now due to all the LLM stuff but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people there were letting their "agents" find random repositories, read their issues, and create "fixes" for them automatically, creating an incredible amount of unwanted garbage in the process.
It is really sad because farming GitHub stars is generally really addictive and can (could) get you a lot of real life opportunities, but I don't think there's much you can do now other than to just find people of similar mindset and start working on projects with them - no idea where you could find such people but I feel like it's the only option if you don't want to become a hermit just working on your code in isolation and never releasing it to the public.
Speaking of being a hermit, some time ago I stopped publishing my projects online due to the aforementioned problems and ever since I did that my code quality has definitely dropped - I don't finish stuff fully and I cut corners a lot specifically because I personally don't need to have every single edge case handled if I am going to be the only user of my programs. This is obviously not good for improving one's skills at making real software but I don't really know what else to do, GitHub is just so awful and nobody checks any other websites unless you already have a very popular project.

>>108970208
It is still very useful to have other competent people look at your code and critique it believe it or not, it's not just about getting validated.
