I find it funny that all scifi and near future combat of the past couple decades usually involves lasers and power armor and such, when no all that shit is going to have to be proofed against RPGs from all angles down to the back of the knees and the crotch joints to not get picked off by $500 drones.

And then not just one drone, but many that are taking their time to aim carefully at your ass. The enemy will quickly learn "ok three hits to the armpit takes out one of those suits. everyone always aim for the left arm so we don't waste shots between hits, just spam until they're dead" and $1500 later your cool 40k or halo esque armor and the dude inside are done 20 miles away from ever actually seeing an enemy soldier to shoot at.

Over 90% of casualties Ukraine inflicts are drones now. Imagine if the US or China put their weight and industry behind this technique, they would have hundreds of shots available at every single combatant and would not give a shit wasting drone charges to blow through obstacles and buildings to get to the flesh bags inside. Combat as we know it still happens, logistics still happens and maneuver warfare still happens, but it's like 5% as effective as it used to be. Until/unless something completely negates the drone threat war as we know it is over.

Mines have existed for a long time and make maneuver warfare impossible. If Ukraine, Finland, Poland and the Baltics just heavily mine their borders to Russia then a land invasion becomes impossibly costly for Russia.

What I still dont understand is why people are complaining about this now.
Javelins, SPIKEs and the like have existed for 30 or so years now, and they autonomously can track targets and do all of the same shit as an FPV drone (or even more).
