Torn between reading Pynchon's V. or reading Richardson's biography of Emerson. It's cold outside. Ate some Modafinil this morning. Still unemployed. I try not to think about myself at all. Been reading a lot of short stories from different litmags -- mostly a wash, some very bad, some pretty good. Been getting into analytic phil, slowly, paper by paper. Just read Michael Huemer's paper "Existence is Evidence of Immortality." Here's the abstract
>Time may be infinite in both directions. If it is, then, if persons could live at most once in all of time, the probability that you would be alive now would be zero. Since you are alive now, with certainty, either the past is finite, or persons can live more than once.
Full paper's a pdf online, it's pretty easy to find. Much to consider.

this relies on a definition of "person" that I do not understand
I don't understand when """"philosopher"""" try to use math concepts and just flow with it, P("Being alive")=0 => "you shouldn't exist" is treating of ideas before reality, it's like saying "I can't think of this thing therefore it doesn't exist": Probabilities are *ideas* that describe reality, definitionally they are just limits, a probability is the limit that the fraction of successful cases over all cases approaches.
Natural numbers are one among an infinity yet you can use them, like how the fuck do these lines even makes sense, pure word salad, and I doubt any amount of additional context could improve these few lines.
More and more I think Huemer just lucked out by saying correclty that political authority is unjustified, must have used a wrong process to land on a good conclusion, because I haven't seen any good thinking process coming from him
>>
>>25105451
>this relies on a definition of "person" that I do not understand
read the paper, as Huemer argues that there are two general ways to conceive of personhood; theories that permit reincarnation to be a continuation of your personhood for whatever reason, called Permissive theories, and theories where reincarnation does not mean a continuation of your personhood, which he calls Dismissive theories. he argues that given an infinite universe in both directions, Permissive theories of personhood (ie ones that would agree with "a reincarnated form of you is actually you, period, end of sentence") are far more likely to be correct. this is a very brief sketch, read the paper for the full argument
>it's like saying "I can't think of this thing therefore it doesn't exist"
this happens all the time, anon -- offhand example is the law of non-contradiction. it's impossible to conceive of something that is both A and not-A; as in, "it is impossible for a table to exist that also does not exist"

I'd be interested in joining a Spiritualist Christian church but my experience has proved that the congregation largely consists of middle class, middle aged hippies who spout the platitudes of Christianity such as Love Thy Neighbour and nothing else.

>who spout the platitudes of Christianity such as Love Thy Neighbour and nothing else.
Matthew 7:12
>So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew 22:37-40
>37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
sounds like those middle class middle aged hippies are right

Self-esteem? In the gutter. Confidence? Shattered. The thought οf writing feels more like a test I know I’ll fail than something natural. It’s humiliating. I used to think this was just normal, that everyone faced this, that it was no big deal. Now, I feel like a hollow version of who I could’ve been. Like my soul itself is damaged.

A month or so ago, I posted here talking about how some (but not all) old people look sorta weird and depressing, and I was trying to figure out why. Today I found out why. If you're in a truly empty or depressing phase of your life, the appearance of your face will just change to look like that. It's because you're relaxing muscles so many muscles on your face that you look like a corpse.

What do I do from here. Would you consider this just a joke or blatant disrespect. It's a very private thing to expose even as a joke right?

Nah man. You gotta embrace the gore. It's natural to look at some guts and go "neat", because in real life it's a situation you absolutely have to remember and learn from. It's also a transition state between "animal" and "snack/clothes".

Friend made me a compliment today and it genuinely warmed my heart and made me realize how few I've gotten, over the course of my life, by people outside my family. And I don't think, and I'm not kidding, I've ever in my entire life gotten a compliment from a woman who wasn't a relative. Not even women who liked me as a friend have ever done so.

>are they full blown "I'm in so much pain I'm going to fucking kill myself"?
Yes, rather like this. Chronic pain and spiritual pain. I was in a bad car accident when I was young and while it didn't leave me crippled, it fucked up my spine and ribs and collarbones and slight changes in barometric pressure leave me bedridden in pain. I keep telling myself suicide is the anti-sacrament, but the voices are getting louder every year.

Know when you take a cold shower and when you're done you're like "I am completely and fully awake?" Modafinil is that feeling for ~6ish hours. It's easier to focus, but that's mostly because you don't feel tired at all. I'd say it's subtleish. You don't really get the rush of confidence/"I can run a marathon" energy you get with amphetamines, but you've got more fuel to power through things. Works best if you slept well the night before. I use it when I have to get up at like 5 or 6. There's also armodafinil, which is just moda that lasts for ~10ish hours. Don't take it before noon or it's hard to go to sleep.

I don't think you can ever truly desensitize yourself to such things; it will always negatively affect you to the core. I also believe that normalization and apathy towards things most humans feel a disgust toward is corrosive for a society. Death and horrific accidents require you to deal with them at some level, but if everyone around you is "acting though" you will feel out of place and feel yourself compelled to "act though" even tough it may not accurately reflect your internal state.
The same applies for fat people and degenerates. Acting as if they are normal members of society is a facade that creates more barriers for genuine human interaction. It also teaches children a worldview that is incompatible with their natural state of being and exacerbates antisocial behavior.

The May December romance was mid way thru and he had just started kissing her forehead and gently guiding her grey hayish hair behind her ears. Moving down to her dry thin lips who’s wrinkles looked like deep valleys streaming off a desert cliff. Passing her lips, he then made his way down to her velvety neck and then to her chest. Running kisses all the way to her belly button. From there he bend down to his knees and starts sucking on her nipples. Then grabbing the waistband of her diapers, he took them off her one leg at a time. Taking a deep inhale of them and tossing them aside, he then

I've been thinking about this and I realized - and feel free to correct me if you think I'm wrong here - that there's is an almost 1:1 parallel between extreme economic libertarianism and extremely permissive sexual norms. Both rest on the same seductive self-narrative: “freedom from” (government, tradition, restraint, obligation). Yet in practice, both reliably produce the same outcome: a tiny elite of clear winners who thrive in the resulting free-for-all, a large and growing underclass of losers who are quietly disenfranchised, and, over time, the slow-motion collapse of the social structures that once made widespread flourishing possible.

At the ripe age of 28 going on 29 I decided to enter med school. I'll probably only be accepted at 30 or 31. Which means I'll conclude my residence around 38. Which means I'll be around 40 yo when I leave my parents home, since residency pays as much as the average delivery guy makes in this dystopian shithole.
Becoming Dr. Chud seems better than being a depressive fuck wasting his days for the rest of my life, but I wish I had made this decision five years ago. Then again, I was so buckbroken by trauma and the way I was raised it took me until last year to even be able to contemplate my future and think about it and realise I actually want things in life instead of being automaticslly overtaken by anxiety, dread and despair like I have been since I was fourteen or so.
All in all I'm fucked and have nothing besides fragile hope. To keep it /lit/ related, books for these feelings?

Every fucking day I sit down at my desk and waste my entire day. I do the bare minimum and nothing more, then spend the rest of the day pretending to look busy, refreshing pages and reading the news over and over again. I could walk away from my desk and do something productive if I wanted to; there is nobody watching me and nothing to keep me here, except my own insistence that I'll do something productive any minute now.
At the end of every day I tell myself tomorrow's the day I'll change, but I've been doing this for five years now. Any time I get motivation, I pour it into some irrelevant endeavor and ignore my main focus. I want to say that I am a prisoner of my own indifference, but I'm not, I do care and I do want to be better, so why can't I just move?
Am I too comfortable? Am I think victim of my own bread and circuses?

The future is a post Christian one were most people are secular or "spiritual". white protestants will become a minority. Blacks and Latinos relate more to the plight of the Palestinian, Latinos are also catholic not protestant.
As for western Europe, they flood themselves with anti Israel Muslim rapeugees
the future is one where the left is increasingly anti zionist and the right is increasingly antisemitic
They were able to brainwash the boomers because it was the tv era, we live in the internet era now.
And if you have a secular population they have no reason to be pro israel or pro jewish cause they dont care about the bible or jesus coming back. without the religious underpinning the right no longer has a reason to be pro israel and pro jew, and they see jewish power as something to hate that caused mass immigration and degeneracy that plagues the west
as for the left, they have actual reasons to be anti israel from a political stand point of anti settler colonialism.
the jews see this simply as a minor rise in antisemitism, but this is actually a golden age of christian zionism ending and the boomer era coming to a close

I'm sick. I was in a car crash 2 weeks ago, and now I'm sick.
The ER says I'm constipated, with incidential kidney stones, testicular cyst, and a minor hernia. It's awesome to pay a ridiculous amount of money to be told I'm literally full of shit, and get provided with nothing but the opportunity to pay more money to specialists.
I feel like I'm malingering. I feel like I keep doing it. I feel like shit. I want to throw up. I'm full of shit. I don't even know why I try.
Called off work, going to call off tomorrow too. Took a high dosage of stool softeners. Might take some random painkillers. Fuck my life.
>>
>>25106337
Are the painkillers causing the constipation? As a result of the medication I take, I only shit once a week, and it requires me taking a daily dose of stool softeners and then laxatives on the day I want to go, generally the 7 or 8 day mark. I've gotten used to it, and the medicine makes it worth it, but I wouldn't recommend this lifestyle to anyone else.
Anyway, sorry to hear about all that, anon. Things will get better and someday this'll all be a "oh man, one time I got into a car accident and..." story you tell people to relate a painful life experience.

>Religion is experiencing a significant decline in the U.S. and other Western nations, with only 53% of Americans considering religion very important in 2023, down from 72% in 2013. Roughly 80% of U.S. adults believe religion's influence on public life is shrinking, driven by rising secularization, generational shifts, and lower church attendance.

It is my birthday. I got a 23 pound coffee mug, woke up at 5am, got high, ate some pizza bites, drank a tea out of said mug, and had a nap with my dog.

Are you being intentionally dense? Yes, those are important teachings, but the whole of Christian doctrinine cannot be simplified into that one commandment. I do not want to go to a church service and just hear endlessly how being a Christian means being nice to people, I'd also like a church service to expand on Christian theology as well as expound its so called spiritualist views in a way that makes me want to attend.

Buckle up, this one is a doozy. I am absolutely not a cool guy here.
>It's her birthday, I take her to the biggest mall in my area.
>Got a large late tax return, and I had been shopping for a ring for almost two years at that point, so today is the day.
>We walk into the diamond store, and everyone ignores us.
>Some nice lady comes to talk to us, finally, and it's the easiest sale she's ever made.
>I wanted to buy her a rose gold 1 karat diamond clean traditional style ring for a great deal, she wants a twisty white and rose gold one with in laid diamonds and a smaller center stone.
>3k deducted from my bank account, get her what I she wants.
>I am HYPE, texting my boys, heart in my throat, this is the biggest decision I've made in my life.
>I go down to the bottom of the mall, ans there is this like Miami Vice neon style food court bar thing. Big red flag I'm too stupid to notice.
>Go, ask the bartender for a beer, point to where I'm sitting, and wait full of butterflies.
>Every single patron other than us got their food and beers and whatever over half an hour of waiting.
>I go back to the bar, hot to trot, and immediately confront them over fucking around.
>The bartender says it's not her job to get me a beer, and if I wanted one I should have asked someone else, while she's on her phone bitching about her job instead of pouring me a beer.
>Livid. Italian mode activates. Ask for her name and say I'm going to leave a negative review.
>The woman goes completely insane, refuses to tell me because apparently she has a stalker and it's unsafe (she's a portly mid alt chick).
>Her googley eyed negress manager starts yelling at me saying I have no right to ask her name.
>I tell her this is extremely unprofessional, and if she's incapable of training her staff to acceptable standards, she shouldn't work that job.
>Fucking nuclear bomb. Two bartenders are screaming at me, manager is screaming at me, a couple sitting at the bar are screaming at me because the bartenders are screaming at me and they do not give a shit about all this.
>Cooler heads prevail, I fuck off after 20 minutes, the manager stormed away dramtically, the shit bartender told me her name and was having a hystrionic fit in the fetal position.
>My fiancee is mortified, I think I've just wrecked my not quite marriage, hadnt even given her the ring yet.
>On her birthday.
>Feel like death.
>Take her to a ferris wheel, we looked at some cool medical oddities ar a local store.
>Formally proposed over sushi in a nice 'straunt.
>Thank fucking god, she said yes. She knows how I am and kind of likes it.
Turns out it was a gay bar (neon, miami vice, me being an idiot getting a beer). My sports jersey, confrontational attitude, NFL lineman physique, and unmistakable directness triggered their vicarious spite response over every highschool bully who looks like me. Understandably, to be fair. I left an extremely professional negative review some days later, and the bar has since closed.

So you took her to buy her own ring, am I reading that correct?
I don't see how that makes sense. Women love a surprise and seeing you try to figure out what they liked instead of just asking what they want.
Well you got the job done but it feels very American. Wearing a sports jersey at your proposal? Going to a mall?
Mine was under some time constraints since I already got her pregnant and wanted to get married before she got a big belly. Best I could think of was going to a rock formation with a nice view. I had hoped there was a tourist nearby to take a video but no such luck.

>>

I'm extremely lucky. All my luck in my life has been allocated to my fiancee and I certainly deserve much worse. The bar honestly looked nice. Potted plants and like art deco styling, neon lights. I think I was in a fugue state.
>>25106802
You'd be surprised. If you get a woman the wrong ring you get posted on a facebook group and mocked by the hivemind. I was way more interested in making sure she got what she wanted and I literally spent years learning about the cuts of diamonds, the type of band, the styling. I even took her to look a few times and she saw NOTHING she liked. She gave me this insane impossible magic christmasland description that she didnt actually want. Sometimes you have to sit them in front of rings to see.
Also, not american. This is a super duper bougie boutique mall for pretentious assholes. I know mall sounds like nacho cheese and teenagers, this one os like bugattis as your 3rd backup car. And she got me the jersey; I didnt intend to buy a eing. Honestly she was surprised, I was even surprised I bought it.

I watched the newest episode of The Adam Friedland Show with Clavicular, some young, famous streamer/influencer known for his looksmaxxing and redpill/PUA-esque views. The part detailing the surgeries and supplements (including injections of testosterone) he gets done to looksmaxx kinda bummed me out because it makes me worried I won't be able to compete with this up-and-coming generation of youths in terms of attracting young, desirable women. I mean I'm pretty good looking, but I worry I'm gonna lose the arms-race, y'know?

That's what you sound like. Mentally, you're a broad. Looksmaxxing is the most feminine thing ever conceived. It's platonically feminine. It isn't about looking good, it's about neurotically sculpting a façade in search of external validation from the opposite gender, using a variety of modern tools that come down to "makeup, but more costly, dangerous and permanent". What are you gonna do next? Collect sneakers and watches like your aunt collects shoes and purses? The absolute state of you. I won't even go into the kind of woman your kitschy peacocking would attract.

Even at the very least in ancient greece they already knew that excessive "liberal" liberty is a bad thing. Back then people understood liberty as "positive liberty" to contribute to the polis, not as we understand liberty ("liberal" liberty). Or put another way, positive liberties were good, excessive negative "liberal" liberties were bad.

You either get rich or get famous, obviously. Preferably both.
I saw this Youtube vid about a famous Japanese voice actor who cheated on his wife with a chick in his 20's. His argument for not using a condom was, "I'm too old, you can't get pregnant", but she got pregnant. The guy was 68 years old IIRC

There is something impersonal and dehumanizing about modernist architecture, but that's why people love it. It's honest. Neoclassical architecture might look gorgeous, but the emotional core of its message is totally gone for moderners, whereas in places like Russia or China, they might lack in architectural flourish but they are extremely honest and candid styles so it's very easy to get emotionally attached to these places. The city matches how you feel.

I posted this and after reflecting on the subject I've come to an interesting conclusion.
On architecture.
Greco-Roman style allows to go wide and long, Byzantine style seems to always lead to blobby forms, and Gothic allows to go high; since we've stretched in all direction, I think architectural innovation is over; the three main styles actually refer to three sets of techniques and innovations in the use of arches, pillars, domes, that cover all three possible areas of expansion width, height, and intermediate; think 0° angle expansion, 45° angle expansion, or 90° expansion of a building for roman, byzantine and gothic style respectively, that's how I perceive this.
The Greco-Roman semi-circle arches and pillars allows for long aqueducts and long colonnades, the domes of the Byzantine style allows for blobby expansion of a building, and the Gothic arches and ribbed vaults and buttress allows to go towards height. Although the three styles have ornaments that can be more or less complex and can differ with culture, this is only superficial compared to what makes these three different in kind. The key distinction remains in the technical constraints, you cannot go high but by doing gothic and use gothic technology, you cannot go blobby but by going byzantine, you cannot go wide or long but by going with the greco-roman technologies.
I dare you to open three yandex image tab and typing "greco-roman architecture" "byzantine architecture" "gothic architecture" and tell me that I have not reached the absolute fundamental truth of architecture

Same. Although when I drink I do tend to go heavy and a lot. My friend's call me a "tank" because of it. I don't go out of my way to buy alcohol often though, I barely know the names of which is good and which isn't.

From the article
>You must have noticed how young men, after their first taste of argument, are always contradicting people just for the fun of it [...] So when they’ve proved a lot of people wrong and been proved wrong often themselves, they soon slip into the belief that nothing they believed before was true --- Plato, Book VII
People in all ages do this and it's so tiresome. Your parents and relatives when watching tv politics or social media politics, when they simply criticize 'the other side', and the same with the surface level right wing commentator, and the same with the more 'independent' commentator, all they know is to attack and attract an audience like that, but they never create anything, they all destroy but never create, it's soooo boring

Here's the story of the women's singles figure skating event at the 2022 Olympics, which resulted in a Russian one-two and a doping scandal.
The gold medalist, 17 year old Anna Shcherbakova, was left alone by her team when the results were announced and she barely even celebrated, instead sitting and looking around the kiss and cry with a stuffed mascot in her arms.
The silver medalist, 17 year old Alexandra Trusova, started crying and cursing everyone and the sport as she discovered she had placed second after the performance of her life, and, after threatening to not even stay for the award ceremony, she stepped on the podium with ruined makeup, shaking.
The fourth place went to Kamila Valieva, 15 years old, who had tested positive for doping substances months prior, was allowed to skate for debatable reasons, and stopped trying after the first error on the ice, which led her coach to get in the skater's face and question her right as she stepped off of the rink.
Here's the coverage showing what happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WH7PGSJoo0w
The bronze medal went to 21 year old Kaori Sakamoto of Japan, who went on to win a silver medal at the Milan-Cortina Olympics and is set to retire at the end of the current season.
All three Russian athletes were training in the same state sponsored team, training under the same coach and, as if the rest wasn't enough, were under the care of the same doctor.
Anna has since retired because of injuries, most likely caused by the intensive and unsustainable training regime; Alexandra recently had a child from her husband and is still competing, though given the state of the ROC it's unlikely she'll get back to the international stage anytime soon; Kamila was stripped of the medals she had won since 2021 and banned from competing in any International Skating Union sanctioned event until last year, and for the same reasons as above she's unlikely to reach such a high level again.
Shortly thereafter, the ISU raised the age limit for senior competitions to 17.
This type of drama and suffering felt fitting, right out of a Russian classic, but it really is tragic how life has treated these girls.
I don't think anything Dostoevsky wrote is any more tragic than this.

Like primitive man even has the time and energy to do that. You seriously have to ask yourself how a teenager is even going to know about sex, let alone feel attracted towards the idea if he doesn't even know the word for it. It's a secret plot to make adult society look fancier than it is and make young people seek the approval of adults.

>It is the cause of war and the end of peace, the basis of what is serious and the aim of the jest, the inexhaustible source of wit, the key to all allusions, the meaning of all mysterious hints, of all unspoken offers and all stolen glances, the daily meditation of the young, and often also of the old, the hourly thought of the unchaste, and even against their will the constantly recurring imagination of the chaste, the ever ready material of a joke, just because the profoundest seriousness lies at its foundation. It is, however, the piquant element and the joke of life that the secret concern of all men is secretly pursued and ostensibly ignored as much as possible. But, in fact, we see it every moment seat itself, as the true and hereditary lord of the world, out of the fulness of its own strength, upon the ancestral throne ...

what a liberal calls toxic masculinity is what women, in particular young women are attracted to. loudness, dominance, assertiveness. someone who wins fights and can protect. Someone who is successful and of a high status. for some reason liberals, the left would rather men be castrated, apologetic, feminized. to the left a man must hold in his rage, sit down, and shut up. The left wants men, in particular white men, to be push overs and door mats.
This is why democrats lost men.
But the right provides no answers, just cartoonish buffoons like andrew tate and clavaculir and to the right being a man means instituting suffering upon all people who are not you.

everybody keeps saying that religion is necessary to ground people to morality but when i look at the worst criminals, all of them are religious

Bad people can say they're religious or say they are not religious and still do bad things. It doesn't follow from this that religion is not "grounded to morality." as far as i've seen, the worst and most violent people come from places where catastrophic levels of violence were generally the norm. places like pre-modern china, parts of central and south america, sub-saharan africa, sicily and so on. trying to apply an abrahamic religion like christianity to these people fails because it doesn't remove their base instincts
this corroborates with violent crime statistics
it just so happens that virtually all of the least-educated and therefore most violent people are the most religious. the outliers to this are places in east asia where religion just works differently than it does elsewhere in the world, which is why the atheism argument isn't all that strong, so i ask again: religion is not providing these people with a morality, so where does it come from?

I'm just gonna keep it real, if I'm having a bad day and the people around me can't make it a little bit better then you're not my people anymore, and it's not a real community. I don't care how smart you are, or how skilled you are, or how much money you claim to make. If you're participating in a community then you need to work on a different set of skills, which is sustaining that community and making sure it leads to something positive that benefits all of its members and helps them grow as people. Everyone nowadays has this, "Fuck you, I got mine" attitude about community. "Oh I've got what I want out of the bargain, now it's time for me to stop giving a fuck about the people who aren't at my level"
This mindset has ruined so many countries. It's why developing nations never become advanced nations -- because everyone has this selfish attitude that makes mutual growth impossible. I'm just so so so so so sick of every "community" being full of leeches that aren't there to build something beautiful.

Last insight that finalizes my thought is that Roman architecture is mastery of the square/rectangle, Byzantine of the circle, Gothic of the triangle.
In terms of styles and emphasis, a roman building always looks strong on its base, highly symmetrical, although they use pediments and round arches, I feel like they always tend to make rectangle feeling end product
a byzantine build takes the semi-circle arches and splatters it everywhere, hence their build are like balls and circles
and gothic is just stacked triangle everywhere
Since geometry is basically the tetrarchy of the Triangle, the Circle and the Square, and any other shape is derivative of those, that's how I feel confident in saying architectural innovation is fundamentally over. The three main style are there to stay as they cover all possible realms of geometries.

ty, good point.
Thinking of what a good day or week consists in to me it's some learning, discoveries and understanding, some hard work of creation, some appreciation of beauty while going on walks or looking at art.
So philosophy is a search for our goals, for what should we spend time doing (the 'what' and 'why')
Aesthetics is how to make the goal we have found the most pleasant possible (a 'how' for the object)
Athletics is how to make the execution of those two above the most pleasant possible (a 'how' but for us as subject)
So with those three, we should know what to live for and why, how to make things, and how to make us
very pleased with the summary of life and what it needs
>>
>>25110544
What do you expect? These modern physicists aren't physically taff, they're basedboys who believe in gender science and gay butt sex, why would their opinion about the universe matter? >>
>>
>>
>>
>>25110545
it's useful to me as a tool for analysis. I can already think of families that possess good aesthetic and physical education, who teach their children how to eat and be healthy and how to practise hard to make things beautiful, but they lack philosophical education, and the children end up creating stuff with bland ideas, and are themselves depressed because they've been taught the two 'how's, how to make themselves and how to make stuff, but never pondered on the what and why of their actions, so they're lost; philosophical education should be answered first because it helps build the other two. Loving learning might be enough to lead you to build aesthetic practices and develop health habits, but philosophers can also get stuck in their realm and never develop anything. All three aspects of life (aesthetic, philosophy, and physical/health) are essential to a good life.

The real value of education is it saves you from this pedestrian, reductionist view of life. It should make you less reverential toward education, not more. With distance comes mystification, which brings these hierarchical fantasies. The reality is obviously messier: educated people disagree constantly; education does not equal intelligence; people hold opposing ideas about health.

My gribble dog got on top of the corner desk in my cleaning room for cleaning bad things and dropped down the sawed-off shotgun on the dirty floor getting it all dirty, and that's what I sometimes call dang-gone irony.

>The reality is obviously messier: educated people disagree constantly; education does not equal intelligence; people hold opposing ideas about health.
I was never talking about modern education or anything institutional. People are retarded and wrong. Your quote refers to unlived knowledge, unintegrated knowledge, learning for learning, which is precisely what I am going away from and trying to solve.
Stirner has said the same thing, and I deeply agree with it, but that's a conversation that is unrelated to trying to categorize broadly the areas of learning. I feel like youre debating with the ghost, I am not advancing what you claim I am advancing.
“That is the end and at the same time the immortality, the eternity of knowledge: knowl-
edge, which has become once again simple and direct, sets and reveals itself anew as will in
a new form and in every action. ” -- Stirner, The False Principle of Our Education
I was talking more of the practice of studying stuff, are you practising to get more understanding of your nature? or how to make things elegant? or how to do everything with health and measure, without exhaustion? Or are you on the other hand practicing for recognition? for societal utility? out of conformity? It's with these last cases that you end up with people bloated with facts and dogmas that know neither their end, nor how to achieve it; good puppets
Of course knowledge needs to be felt, and lived, but you instill that practice of lived knowledge in a friend or your child by teaching him the reason that that knowledge is useful to him; not by authority or by institutions that tell you "learn this to be useful to society" but by telling him, study philosophy and you'll understand what to live for, study aesthetics and you'll understand that life can be precious, study health and vitality and you can find that life can be light and pleasant.

A British writer once said every teacher must be familiar with the vague, high-minded platitudes which fill the hardened listener with despair and the novice with a dangerous sense of unwarranted elation. More than your ideal of education (which I do have reservations about), it’s your ‘cant’ I’m pushing back against. Everything neat and explanatory, nothing messy or contingent. Socrates was the wisest man in Greece because he knew he knew nothing. If philosophical education actually works, it destroys the confidence required to recommend philosophical education as a pillar of a good life.
Exposure to uncertainty has its own kind of value, but it’s a much harder sell than you’re making, and it doesn’t slot neatly alongside ‘aesthetic education’ and physical health. Socrates didn’t help people figure out what to live for - he made it harder to pretend they knew. & they executed him.

Some museums demand fortunes for HR images of their paintings. This is bullshit.

It's because they removed their skin barrier. The reason why all of them that fall for the meme preach consistency and layers is because they've installed an artificial barrier which doesn't regenerate itself like your skin barrier does

>block all their vitamin d absorption
That only happens in really strict Muslim countries. The revolution in Iran for example absolutely tanked vitamin D levels for women. Sunscreen just stops you getting damage from UV, and most of the vitamin D you need you can get when the sun isn't high enough to produce a high or even middling UV level
General advisory: your genetics will also play a part. Which is why Iran got completely fucked by vitamin d losses for attributable diseases, but Palestine does not

I think I may soon finally find the thing I've been searching for. I might have finally found the key. It's been 5 years of useless inquiries and disillusion, and right now, by accident, the possibility is open again, and my chances are high. Finally...

Christ is lord, Mary is queen
More than even dopamine
If t'is not true, please do tell
All about your little hell
So as I fall, a snow white dove
Threads a pall of this untold
That opens wide of Thrace'n tide
That lace unfurled; crochet'd bright
Exults a story up above
Little lamp, little bell, little match-light
If you're not so, then please declare
That in you be threads of middle-night
But as you can't -- God hath sewn
What does do to beck'n home
Have you love, such like the nearest dove
To convict that you exact justice?
Indignant that you taketh leave
In light of indignities? -- If not so
What a spark you un-name love!
