This episode spent too much time with the setups, and not enough time with the actual plot and characters. I could tell that Aikokuin felt like he didn't deserve the title of Gavan, but he still transformed and ready to dive into battle at the beginning of the episode, so what did his inner conflict prevent him from doing? The villain is also kind of whatever, no real personality shown yet.

>I want to know more about what he was trying to expose
yeah if that's not an important plot point for the show it'll be a waste, but it seems like everyone already introduced in the show has some part to play throughout and will be staying for a while. since they didn't just put him in a cell after the first episode and they're interrogating him in the next one it might lead more into what he was trying to expose in the first place.
>>
>>
>>
>>23760871
>exposing the conspiracy of the world leadership
that could tie in nicely to Bushido feeling like he doesn't deserve the position of Gavan and exposing that conspiracy would help him prove his worth of being Gavan to himself and everyone else

Pros
>Reiji is still a cool protagonist
>the sound design is impeccable, like Death's metallic creaks sounding rustier than the other two or everything in Maaku Space
>the action is still really great, I was surprised by how good the fight in Maaku Space was because I didn't like most fights in King-Ohger
>the conflict of the cultist not being quite resolved is good even though it doesn't quite makes up for the rushed pacing of the first episode
>Bushido's backstory and resulution in the end of the episode was good
>Yusei was an entertaining villain
>I like how Gavan Death sort of works like Abrera
>the sequence for summoning the mecha is intricate and fun
>this episodes highlighted how well jouchaku integrates into the action
>Infinity's transformation lesson was legitimately funny
>the variety of music tracks worked better this episode, the OST is still banging
Cons
>AGI is so generic to the point of being unlikeable, Date is in similar predicament
>they say Maaku Space is toxic yet Yusei is completely fine
>I'm not quite sold on the Emons being recolors because the motw don't get full suits like OG Gavan, the consisting of different gangs is fun but I'm not sure if how long they'll manage to keep the motw and mooks visually interesting
>still not fully sold on Bushido, a lot of his reasonings this episode felt kinda weak
>the direction while improved still feels sort of uncreative
Overall a massive improvement over the first episode specially in the pacing, also prefer droplet over Eisyuu because it cleared up some things like Patran believing Reiji was trying to steal Gavan's arrest or how Sun God is actually Divine Wrath. Still afraid that the pacing might be to fast to develop the cast because the show will be 23 episodes, I want to believe it will be fine since the next show will still retain this show's cast but it's still a concern.

I honestly feel like it's just a take on "actually our elite leaders are evil" that's becoming big on the news thanks to Trump and all the Epstein stuff in the last few years but bungled because Japanese writers don't really get it beyond the obvious, similar to have Kamen Rider Black Sun tried to deal with US style civil rights for Kajin, complete with a scene with Kajin George Floyd but it again came off as performantive and halfhearted because the writers and producers don't really understand the concept beyond what they saw on the news
>>
>>
>>
>>23761305
A leaker who has been right everytime said that it will be 23 eps but the next show that will start the week after will still have Infinity helping the new protagonist
People are theorizing that the next show will have a either a new Gavan, Gavan based on another Metal Hero or even Bushido as the protagonist because the staff said that they're working for a full year and the producer said that he asked the writer to make a lore document large enough that Bushido and Luminous could feel like protagonists of their own shows going in the background
>>

>>
>>
>>23761527
We just don't know at the moment, all we know is Infinity's length, there's this other guy whose leaks have been 50/50 so far that said this >>23757706 but we just don't know if he's saying the truth at the moment

They're speedsubs done by an ESL so a lot of terms are confusing, certain dialogues from Reiji and Patran in episode 1 were completely misinterpreted
Droplet is also done by an ESL so it comes off as stilted but it's much closer to what they're actually saying in japanese, so since both subs come out in the same day it's just better to go with droplet by default rather than eisyuu

Then what about the official subs from Shot Factory? If Gavan Infinity were to get picked up from them, would they have been better?
>>
>>
Episode 1 had me dooming but episode 2 is pretty alright. This is going be a nitpick but wish they weren't on such a tight schedule or something the last two episodes were shot on a cloudy day. I need to see those suits in the sun
>>
>>
>>

My biggest complaint so far is with the pacing. I know it's because they're needing to introduce the three main protagonists and their supporting cast as quickly as possible, but for example we could have spent more time on Setsuna's character rather than him infodumping pretty much his entire backstory inside of three minutes in the middle of the motw plot.

I remember after that video by Otaking, fansubs slowly phasing out unprofessional fonts, excessive honorifics use, untranslated Japanese words with aid of TL notes, karaoke effects and special effects on their subtitles.
But TV-Nihon (now Anon) kept that old fashioned fansub method alive. And now, people kind of start having nostalgia of a "fun time", forgetting that they're suck at translation.
The pendulum had really swung back...
>>
>>23762775
It's less "pendulum swinging back" (though these things are missed in anime fansubs), it's simply that I've pretty much always watched with them. People use examples that are nearly 20 years old to show how they're irredeemable dogshit or whatever when it's not really like that anymore. Nitiasa shows are lucky to have multiple options for subs nowadays when there's plenty of either nonsubbed or subs that aren't to your or mine preferences out there for basically the rest of toku. I don't like Over-Translate or the groups who do their work in that style so I don't watch through them and that's it.
At the end of the day, people do this shit for free for us week-in, week-out and mistakes here and there are just not something I think is a really big deal, I like my TL notes and learning about shit, when my attack/team names aren't translated every time, honorifics and karaoke subs too much to care.

>And now, people kind of start having nostalgia of a "fun time"
I only ever saw this maybe once or twice from young Gen Zs who don't really have any memory of that time since they were babies, but have a kind of jealousy of what millennials had,Tbh I don't blame them.

It's case by case. Like Eminence in Shadow which has characters that have joke names like "Will Diesoon" that's meant to be a joke to the audience

Bushido's finisher catchphrase is "namidaseyo onore no fushimatsu," which is roughly "cry for your mistakes," but ChouEiyuu translates it as "to cry is one's failure." I suppose you could fluff up the wording some for the actual translation but he completely changes the meaning.
