Make it Gen 1 only, because Flit's story of how Grodek takes a bright young boy and turns him into the same kind of bitter, vengeful man as himself is the only interesting or well-written part of the story. Give the setting some actual meat on its bones. Every part of the AG setting is an empty void that only exists to fulfill the needs of the current episode and then disappears, nowhere has real context or connection to anywhere else.

If you want to implement timeskips, have it take place over the course of Flit's journey from childhood to adulthood and have the AGE-1 gradually progress to the hulking, brutal Glansa over the course of that time. Have the birth of his son be the point where Flit almost goes over the edge into becoming the new Grodek but realizes his mistake and backs down.

There's a bit towards the end with Obright where you see a moment of how long running wars ruin people across multiple generations, playing off that same bitterness and vengeance. But it's only a moment.
God, but this show really did waste its potential.

[AGE-1]

Honestly, I would not change much of anything about the first 15 episodes. Some of the stuff isn't perfect, but it does set the stage for Flit's whole story quite well. I suppose some episodes could be cut/compressed, but the overall story is fine.

[AGE-2]

The love triangle between Asemu, Zeheart and Romary can remain, but use it as a way to highlight the conflicting views on Vagans war and as a way to try and deradicalize Zeheart somewhat. Maintain Desil as a living family curse for the Asuno family and also possibly tie Grodeks death into being his fault to further embolden his blood feud with Flit. Go way further with Flit's military takeover of the government, with him becoming just as brutal as Vagan in his effort to stomp them out during the AGE-2 to AGE-3 timeskip.

[AGE-3]

Have Kio be a near mirror reflection of how Desil was during Flit's youth. Bloodthirsty, sadistic and demonically brutal in his treatment of Vagan. All things a late stage X-Rounder brain afflicted Flit would have aggressively taught to him. Have it so he was ultimately denied a proper childhood to reinforce just how far Flit is willing to go in his genocidal crusade. Have Shanalua as a much more important figure in trying to deradicalize and give humanity back to Kio, only for her to be revealed later on as Desil's offspring who had infiltrated the Federation to assassinate Flit. This revelation makes Kio even more brutal for a time, but does sow doubt in his mind. Instead of actively abandoning his family, Asemu suffered legitimate memory loss and works with Bisidian to keep the secret of the EXA-DB from being discovered by either side.

The true villain of the entire setting ends up being revealed as the Mobile Armor SID, with it being the source of how Vagan gained all of its technology and why its people have degenerated into psychotics. The entire catalyst for the Vagan attacks in the first place was over the AGE-System, with SID trying to snuff it out.

Make Ezelcant more prominent and have Asemu and Romary be the ones that get captured and meet him. Desil kills Ezelcant and takes over Vagan. Meanwhile Flit enacts a full takeover of the federation and weeds out all the vagan sympathizers. Ends with Asemu, Romary, and Zeheart fucking off from both sides and deciding to form a third resistance/anti-war faction.

>Gen 3
Arc starts with Feds/Vagans fighting at Jaburo. Bisidian lead by Captain Ash and his crew arrive with the intent to steal the AGE system and it's new prototype Gundam. Kio Asuno while the Captain's son is content to just being a lowly cabin boy/mechanic and doesn't like fighting. Circumstances however force him to take his father's AGE device and use it to activate the dormant AGE-3 in order to help his family survive a wartorn innersphere and put an end to the conflict once and for all.
