>mix the rhythm a bit lower
ok listening back again that makes sense. My usual mixing error being the wanker that I am is that my volume is too loud over the track. I kept lowering my wank track over his acoustic track this time so it's just below clipping and just rendered it without considering the volume balance.

I've got one pricy guitar that I wouldn't dare fuck up the fretwork if I only had basic skills even if I had the tools. 3 shitter electrics I wouldn't mind practicing fretwork on, but I don't use them enough that they get fretwear. I scalloped the frets on the first guitar that I had and that fucked it up in the long run. I wouldn't trust myself to work on my main expensive guitar.. but that's me being risk averse from the experience. If you're handy with tools and don't mind the risk of fucking it up though you might as well if you have many guitars in rotation.

Yeah I kinda half want this for the hard case so I can transport my stealth to my friends house to play together, so I really just be paying 450 for the guitar. Im probably gonna pass on it for now and maybe see if i can uber lowball them to 600-650 shipped in a few weeks. Otherwise Im just gonna pass and try to find a made in japan mockingbird for a good price when I visit japan in may. Love thrifting there. Ideally I'd like it in red or just find a total beater that I can refinish.

Dammit OP, you’ve got me itching for a Deluxe Tele in Fiesta red with matching headstock to finish my collection of the OG 5 in that spec. It’s the last one I need. Does the mod shop let you paint headstocks yet? Last time I checked there was no neck option for the Deluxe in the mod shop that let you pick to paint the headstock. It’s too bad fender Japan doesn’t have a mod shop, I’d shell out righteous bucks for a mod shop guitar with Jap QC and craftsmanship that allowed you to spec as you please.

I didn’t at first but, this is retarded, I swear the neck has gotten fatter over time. Could be my growing effects chain. But yeah, this is one guitar where I use every pickup setting and it’s wired the same as a Strat where 2 and 4 combine middle with bridge and neck.
>>129518758
I sanded it down. Not too deeply though, I tapped it off first so the sides still have factory satin finish it started with. It turned out great considering that I started over after nearly completing 100%… I fucked up and wet sanded through the nitro clear coat. On the second attempt I did a thick ass clear coat so I had plenty of buffer when wet sanding. The hardest part was getting the grommets back in for the vintage tuning pegs without cracking the new finish, I used a hillbilly method of padding with shop towels and a handheld grip clamp to slowly wedge them into the holes.

Maple is hard shit and I've broken many screws using too-small of a hole. Candle wax is a good lubricant to use the next time you have to do something like that.

Not for 1100€, from personal experience.
>>129515902
I started getting basic tools to change the tuners, string trees, bridge. Then I got more tools to change the nut, then some to change pickups, then some to do minor fret fixing.
Now I'm looking at another "major" investment to buy nut files, so I can eventually create them myself (the Graphtech one I bought for my guitar has weirdly broad and deep cuts). I am also most likely going to buy fret leveling tools. The thing is, I only have 2 guitars and none of them need major fret-work. I don't even know if I'll ever get another guitar again, but I know that I will most likely spend the money to get those tools that I'll probably use once in my life.
It's a weird feeling.

Beginner here with manlet hands. Is the 'one finger per fret' rule really the best way forward? This is so uncomfrotable to play sat down. Becomes more tolerable in the classical position / stood up but sat down I feel it's far more comfortable just to use index and ring for everything, but I desperately want to improve my speed and play as effeciently as possible.
Is index and ring alone enough or do I need ot be using middle and finger per fret also? I can stretch pinky for further notes but that's about it.
>>
>>129521578
it's not one finger per fret, but you shouldn't leave a 4-fret spread. if you are in this position, it's valid to use different fingers to fret different notes. for example, if I was playing something that hit the G on the B string and then the next note was the C on the E string, i'd fret the G with my ring finger and the C with my pinky. but that's not because of comfort, that makes it easier to play both notes without having to hard-commit to barring both with my pinky ahead of time. if you think using your pinky is uncomfy in general you need to get used to using your pinky
>>
>>129521604
>if you think using your pinky is uncomfy in general you need to get used to using your pinky
It's not so much the pinky that's uncomfortable to use but more so the stretch from my wrist more than anything. Like my entire hand is having to come over the neck just to reach a note (Let's say A# on the bottom E string in the context of the beginning of a minor pentatonic shape) it just feels so uncomfortable when I know I can very easily strtch my index to hit that note, if that makes any sense?
For big stretches like the boogie blues riff type thing or the message in a bottle riff using my pinky is fine, it's more so the one finger per fret.
>but you shouldn't leave a 4-fret spread
So I ideally shouldn't have a spread of four frets? I.e. G G# A A# with index on G and ring on A#, that would be too wide of a spread?

>>129521659
not sure if ESL. by "you shouldn't leave a 4-fret spread" i mean for each position on the neck you have access to 4 frets worth of notes on each string. if you want to play outside of that spread you go to a different position

I'm not sure what to do for my guitar practice. I can't move chord shapes yet, I'm still hammering in my scales but im just trying to find more leads to play along with and practice. Leads kinda feel like bass practice since it's usually one note at a time so those are fun for me. I want to make sure I don't stall this time around when learning guitar. I am going to do some work in my guitar method book until I figure out a real routine that helps. With bass it's easier to just pick up and play.

its like a strat but for modern tastes ese the ceramic magnet pickups and humbucker at the bridge open up the tonal range for hard rock and metal, the single coil bridge limits you to early rock and roll and neoclassical. You can play metal on a single coil but it sound like ass and you're coping if you find the one guy doing it.

I got some old hand-me-down headphones to use with my amp so the neighbor doesnt bang on my floor and they sound like shit. AI is telling me to get 'flat frequency" headphones so I can hear all my guitar tones but the "budget" option it recommended is still like $150. How much did you spend on your headphones for practice (if you use them) and can I get something passable for less than that?
>>
>>
>>129524205
i bought mine for 30ish but i don't have good ears to judge if they're any good. i just want a silent training and that's what I got. I assume any of my current dissatisfaction came from either my amp, my shitty built-in patch, my wireless guitar plug or my pretty old guitar i haven't treated for so long.

I bought one of the telecaster copies for like $50 to bring to work. The neck was completely unfinished. I finished it with a few coats of tru-oil and it came out pretty nice. i kept getting marks on my index finger I didn't know what the fuck they were from until I realized The fret edges were kinda sharp. It sounds ok, the pickups dont buzz or sound too muddy and it stays in tune. Worth it for $50 really, especially considering 2 people eating at McDonald's costs like $50 now
