> Fargo 32 is for riders seeking a drop-bar mountain bike with the new 32er wheel diameter. Available in the fall of 2026, in either a steel or titanium chassis, the Fargo 32 maintains its Salsa DNA with an abundance of cargo mounts, an off-road touring tuned geometry, and clearance for 32 x 2.4″ tires.

I guess this is for the increasingly tall lanklet freaks out there? I'm already kind of borderline on 700c because my parents didn't force feed me bovine growth hormone milk like a veal calf being fattened up for a japanese business lunch, but I've learned to deal with the clunky, oversize hoops on my bikes because tire selection is better
Motorcycles that go 200mph are running on 17 inch wheels yet somehow we're still fucking around with oversize bike wheels
I'm usually the last person to bitch about new standards coming out for no reason but in this case I literally do not understand what they are thinking. We need to re-examine the food supply, maybe RFK was right

Glass smooth tarmac racetracks and rough rocky rooty terrain favor very different tires
6,000lbs 1000 horsepower Baja 1000 trucks use 40" tires
Can Ams and Polaris RZRs, that are like half the weight of a Miata use 35"s,.and now they beat the Ultra 4400 class trucks at KoH
Holy fuck this place is still infested with the most vile toxic fucks in the world, in every single section, including bicycles lmaooooo
I can't wait to ride a 32", and I vividly remember the first ride ever on a 29er, and all the shit talking faggot would not stfu about why 26" is better than 29".
Dudes were like "Downhill will NEVER use 29" Okay but but Redbull Rampage will never ever use 29".
Bro it's simple physics
6' 6 figures 6" and girthy as fuck btw hope this helps

>6,000lbs 1000 horsepower Baja 1000 trucks use 40" tires
meanwhile average dirtbikes that aren't made specifically for the small-dicked to feel big and instead actually to go fast on gravel or dirt only use 19".

>and rim brakes
i do this too but because i am a massive pussy unwilling to drill holes in my frame. mechanical disc brakes are vastly superior to rim brakes in literally every way from maintainability to field repairability and all fairweather performance metrics inbetween and the literal only reason to not use them is lack of mounting hardware

Gave myself a lot of time to think about this
There's no reason not to have a bunch of different tire sizes.
We have fifteen brands all making the same fucking slicks, XC, Trail, Enduro, and DH tires.
It's not that complicated to have:
16" tires
20" tires
24" tires
26" tires
27.5" tires
29" tires
32" tires
650b
700c
I mean damn there are HUNDREDS of different car tires
I say we stop fucking around with all these bullshit tread designs. We don't need a bunch of tire sizes, but I see no problem with adding 32"
You guys are a bunch of loser ass fucking chumps holy fuck
>>
Ugh my damn typo. We don't need a bunch of different widths, wheels widths, and treads. We need different total diameters for different people.
Also,.I know how right I am because I've been rocking 29x2.40 and 700x28's, 30s, 32's 35s 38s and 40s LONG before the whole gravel trend came, and now road bikes are rocking 32s

But it's alright, Imma buy a 32 and tell you guys how it goes.
I also love how many tire compound options we have.
Toodalooo loooosers!!!! Hhhahahhahahaha

Finally i dont have to look like im on a kids bike.
29 is borderline but it still look kinda wonky. Exited to try them out honestly.
I think a 32 touring bike or gravel hybrid with efficient tires would slay like crazy.

Honestly as a moto guy myself it freaks me out seeing road bikers in so little gear and on machines with so little braking power and grip. I got half my face and arm skin ripped off going over the hood of a car and face down into the asphalt at like 15mph on a bicycle when I was young and it's why I don't ride acoustic bikes anywhere near pavement and won't go anywhere near my moto without full gear on, but then I see dudes doing like 55mph downhill in nothing but spandex and a styrofoam helmet, or dudes on ebikes doing 40mph in traffic in shorts and a t-shirt, and shit feels sketchy as fuck to me.
>>
>>2071993
The spandex dudes had to ride long enough to:
>Learn and get comfortable on a bike
>Get good enough on a bike to want more
>Upgrade to a road bike
>Ride enough to get uncomfortable enough to get over their fear of lycra
>Upgrade to a nicer road bike
>Get strongk enough to climb mountains on a bike and actually enjoy it
>Have to come down the mountain they climbed up
So they're going to have a lot more bike control skill compared to
>Want to save money on a car
>Google "cheap ebike"
>Buy the cheapest ebike they can find
>Charge it up and go crazy and possibly not die
Ebike guys will seethe at me and unracers will piss and shit themselves with rage but it's a fact, if you're going 55mph down a mountain in spandex you kind of earned it, if you're going 55mph on a multi-use path screaming at old ladies you didn't
>>
>>2071995
I get all of that, but none of that is gonna make a difference if you get hit by a car or drop the bike due to some uncontrollable external factor (spilled oil on the road or whatever) and slide across asphalt and into a guardrail at high speed. I guess it's just something you live with since it's not practical to ride in moto-style gear but it still gives me the heebie jeebies.
>>
>>
>>2071998
I can't speak for everyone but I don't take corners at anything near those kinds of speeds, so oil slicks are not a major concern. I've had a couple of cases where I braked too late on a hairpin (the kind where you can see the oncoming traffic from above) and it got a little spooky but that would have entailed going into the shoulder and flying over the bars like a retard. The real problem is potholes and debris on the shoulder on the more heavily traveled roads but in those kinds of conditions I'm not going terribly fast (or I'm taking the whole lane and I can go fast enough to at least keep up with traffic if not overtake)
Motorcycles are different because you're expected to take these long sweeping curves (like on a highway cloverleaf) at extremely high speeds like a car, that doesn't really happen with road bikes.

the problem with this fantasy of yours is that ebike owners tend to already know how to ride a bike. DUI riders look at the price tag and recoil in horror, complaining that they can get a used Micra for that much. muh unracer fred types are mostly people like (you) who look at cycling as fashion and not as a mode of transportation (hence the lycra and rubber band tires on a 420:1 gear ratio when it is -3 and snowing out instead of something weather-appropriate)
thoughbeit >>2071993 is correct but only halfway. understandably a real motorcycle requires lots of safety guy but seething about e-bike riders not wearing 90 pounds of kevlar and leather is like looking at vespa riders and seething that their helmet is wrong and their blinkers are decorative
as for braking and grip blame people who seethe about MECH DICKS REEE and insist rims are the only way to go, and similarly that if you aren't riding on perfectly smooth toroids of rubber you're not a "real" cyclist. stock ebikes tend to come with mountain bike tires and discs, if not being fatbike monstrosities with dual rotor hydraulics. in fact most "ebikes" i see still being sold are basically baja bikes with the engine removed and a motor and battery put in their place. the commuter cruiser style is a lot less popular and motorized road bikes tend to be PAS only and not very stronk
also plenty of motorcyclists just dont wear gear. dont tell me you havent seen white trash riding dirt bikes on the main road in banged up jorts and a wife beater with the only head protection being a pair of Pit Vipers that cost more than the bike
tl;dr none of you are free from sin leave my ebike alone
>>
>>2072006
They "know how to ride a bike" the way americans with a drivers license "know how to drive a car", not being legally prohibited does not mean you're good at a thing it just means you won't be arrested for doing so
>>
>>2072016
the average ebike rider is honestly some hood rat nigger who can't operate his own legs let alone a vehicle, but the same could be said of street bmx riders 10 years ago. not all ebike riders are niggers and white trash but most such people deserving of every racial epithet you know are usually ebikers (and 5 years ago all had sit-down mopeds, and before that were usually seen on too-small BMXs and hardtail MTBs stolen from children)

"Good technique and judgment" just means going slower for the same conditions because it's the only way to be able to stop in time. Follow that logic far enough and you're stuck in the lowest gear trundling along at 7mph so you can drag your feet on the pavement. If that's how you get your rocks off more power to you. For me it's a hard no. I'd rather just enjoy the benefits of this cutting edge product that has only been widely available for 10+ years now and be able to use the shitty technique of actually using my higher gears sometimes.

Indeed, being able to stop in chaotic traffic is useful, and once you venture outside of Times Square there are in fact non-trivial elevation changes. Maybe not as extreme as Pittsburgh or San Francisco, but more than /r/NYCbike/ seems to think since most of those posters never venture out of the West Village

rimjobs are based but rim brakes are not. i like to be able to brake instead of colliding with pedestrians and the sides of SUVs when retarded cagies pull out in front of me and recording it on my Insta360™ for ebin urbanist updoots. simple as.
>>
>>2072062
if you can't control your bike with rim brakes, that means you're shit at situational awareness and aren't good at braking, thereby needing a handicap.
it's fine. ride whatever you want. but your issue is you think everyone is as shit at riding a bike as you.
>>
>>2072071
Actually it's the other way around, better braking lets you respond to new threats faster. if your reflexes aren't good enough to take advantage of improved braking, you should probably consider just walking or taking the bus.

as literally everyone on the shared roads says, you can be the best pedestrian/cyclist/driver/pilot/sailor/astronaut on earth and never do anything wrong, but there is always some idiot out there

That's how you can tell Just Commuters from Real Commuters. The former think that good brakes are optional because no outside agent is ever going to interrupt their line of travel. Everything is always fully predictable, flat, and open, all the time. So of course they would think it's absurd that a several feet worth of reduced stopping distance is actually a big deal.

you can literally be one of the best drivers on earth, and then there's some cute little twink who forces deletion of the entire front half of your vehicle from existence

Yea it's dumb new shit that won't change much, BUT AT LEAST IT'S COOL.
All these years of "tapered steerer tubes" and "disc brakes" and "noseless saddles" like who the fuck cares man
LOOK AT THOSE BIG WHEELS THAT'S COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll agree that hydraulic brakes are better in wet conditions than rim brakes. The difference in braking power when it's raining on my rim brake bike is noticably less. Not by enough to care but enough to take more caution. In the dry though? Shiiiiiiiii I've used mechanical rim brakes before and the difference is negligible and I'm not spending 200 dollars on aliexpress shimano hydros to find out what hydraulic pushbike brakes feel like

That wasn't the point. The point was that they are not as much of an improvement over older standards than the proponents of hydros would lead you to believe they are. Also that 180 dollars could have been spent on 18 innertubes, which have a real world benefit that is immediate and not marginal like 70cm braking distance.
