If you want a shitty film camera with "character" just get a 30's late model Kodak Brownie 2 (one NOT made of cardboard!) or any other working lowest end 120 camera. Mine was £2 + postage and looked and smelled like it had spent last 80 years in cold attic. While finder mirrors are corroded and lens bit fuzzy it works fine. The single meniscus lens is surprisingly sharp for what it is.

I actually picked up a cardboard one for 4 euros, cleaned the lenses and glued the mirrors back in place. Fun to use but the cardboard was bending inwards making it near impossible to open and it wasn't very happy with the 120 film spool either.
I still need to develop the film but I got a better box camera for 10 euros in the meantime, one that actually works well with 120 film, a Zeiss Ikon one.
Will probably get some developer tomorrow and get those negatives ready.

HP5+, no contest. Very easy to reuse, and it has flash. The lens isn't 28mm which is another big point it scores. Great pocket camera too if you have to go somewhere you could drop one in a tragic boating accident along with your weapons so you don't want to bring your fancy DSLR. Worthy mention to the Kodak Water & Sport. No flash but going underwater narrows your angle of view, effectively lengthening your focal length.

This seems like a good thread to ask, have any of you ever messed with one of these disposable camera lenses? I was thinking about getting one to try out for the lols

Same. Everyone involved in designing/approving/making/purchasing/installing that disgusting abomination should be crushed under a steamroller, legally and after a fair and speedy court-martial

Can somebody explain what’s the appeal? I get how they were useful back then because you could get a camera off a gas station in a clutch. But why would anyone deliberately want to shoot it now.
There are equally small and infinitely better proper film cameras.

They're cheaper, easier to use and people don't pose or get defensive like they do when you pull out a real camera. Not everyone wants to be a real photographer. They are a good gateway drug into real film photography doe.
