Alright, after playing spyrers, cops, cops, cops, cops, cops, cops, spyrers, and cops, I'm being challenged by Genestealers. Their big thing is Blaze immunity, right? Do they all have lascutters or is that only champs? How are they in melee? I'm operating on half a Cawdor gang after taking devastating losses in Great Darkness.

>only Necromunda in stock is the shitty starter box
>insulted that there is a story copy of the core book next to the register

If I was a ass I would have told them if I have to order/ship it why the fuck would I order it from you when I can buy it anywhere else for less than msrp? Why the fuck would you not have one copy of the CORE RULES for all your games in stock?

Hello thread, I am stopping by from /40kg/, I just have a greentext to drop
>just getting into the hobby after being enthralled with the 40k and FB/AOS universes for 10~ years
>buying up some models and assembling/painting them
>blessed enough to have a job where I can hobby on site
>work with tards
>one of my tards enjoys hanging out with me while I model
>tard is a cool dude who loves vidya and sports, especially gridiron football
>hmmmm, Blood Bowl Season 3 has a full box on sale for 30% off
>order in to spend some quality time with my tard buddy making some models and playing football together on the tabletop and not just on Madden/NCAA for 360
>planning to paint hoomans in his favorite NFL team
Really looking forward to using Blood Bowl tabletop to connect with my special buddy and have him exercise his football IQ.
Going to use this as a way to try and branch into a Tomb Kings army for Old World as well (and a death army in AoS). Do any of you seasoned Blood Bowl players have advice for complete newbs? I also intend on bringing the game to my LGS and seeing if I can get some games going with fellas down there.

Lost today's game of battleclade vs raveners, almost entirely a skill issue on my part, but I got some hell nice pictures of the ordeal. We wound up with a big mosh pit of raveners brawling with servitors, winning, and then getting torched by even more servitors, and a lot of teleporting shenanigans too.

Man, I wish Dunland as an army was more than just "hobos with sticks".
Even with legacy you aren't getting much outside of a very convoluted way to reach fight 4.

So I've never had any means to get into Warmaster or Epic and I still don't, but I've always been fascinated by both, especially the former. I love the scale, the concepts, and also think the 10mm minis are just kickin' rad.
Are there any good sites with fluffy battle reports or some with nice good galleries of excellent Warmaster or Epic minis?

Advice on what aspect of the game? Not being a dick, just trying to narrow it down
>>97596061
I just want a fucking unique big guy for the Brettonians
>>
>>97596504
I should have been more specific. I am wanting advice to making it as playable as possible for a tard who is great at vidya and sprots but is still, well, tarded. I also have no experience with the game so I'm at his level rn.
Are the play by play rules of the game easy enough to translate from real girdiron? I'll be the one doing all the reading and having to explain it all in plain language.
Also also, is it worth dipping in my toes for another team model box for different playstyles? Or do the teams largely play the same? (I can always proxy rules for my tard buddy too anyway)
>>
>>97596522
I wouldn't buy another team until you find out if you like the game or not + how it plays. Tomb Kings and Bretts are alright starters. There are some similarities between teams (bashy, agile, hybrid and stunty) but they mostly all have unique play styles as well as theme.
The way I learned the game was playing against the AI in Blood Bowl 3 (the videogame) because that put guard rails on what I could do and it showed me additional info you don't get on the TT.
Blood Bowl is really only football themed. Knowledge of one doesn't carry over to the other at all.
If you don't want to play Blood Bowl 3 (which is still using an old ruleset but is updating soon), I would watch some videos to get familiar yourself with how the game is played.
The key parts of the game are 1) tackle zones, 2) blocking (which means hitting someone) and 3) assisting with blocks. If you have these three things down, the rest of the game is easy to comprehend (then you start getting more into higher level positioning and risk management, etc.)

Are there any roles/niches the Imperial Nave is lacking? Came up with several ship class names but outside of a battlecruiser'd gothic I have no idea how to outfit said ships if I were to write up custom stats for them

And again. If Exotic Beasts in Necromunda "die" in a mission are they just dead and you have to buy new ones or are they also treated like gangers n such with being able to get healed n stuff? can you capture them? or are they more like equipment, once bought thhey replenish each mission? kinda have problems finding the rules.

I supposed you could try to get funky with light cruisers.

>>97598244
Not the victory but close enough for my rant, isn't the victory battleship supposed to be a low-tech imitation of the apocalypse class? And yet the victory's lance batteries are double the apoc's range. Yes they're lower strength but not by too much. And it goes faster. And if you want to boost the range of the apocalypse now you have to gamble on engine damage. I don't get the design decisions.
The victory is a bakka exclusive design yes but it doesn't make me any less angry
>>
>>
>>97594772
There's not much difference between the variant list themes when it comes down to it. Bakka is meant to be about gunnery rather than carriers but adds a bunch of unique carrier hulls for no real reason; Bastion Fleet is meant to be about old obsolete hulla but in practice is just Gothic Fleet with more options.
My favourite fleet build is pretty standard Gothic: a Retribution battleship and a bunch of standard cruisers plus a few escorts. Charge in as a phalanx and enjoy shotgunning torpedoes; it's not subtle but it's good fun.

Now that all the stats are here it's 2 less strength on the lances for double range and +5cm movement, plus an option to make it cheaper with torpedoes.
Why can't the apocalypse get such nice things?
>>
>>97599875
I mean, with the Lock On range boost effect it does somewhat balance out (despite the critical). I agree that the Victory should have an additional malus for what it offers, though. Perhaps a downgrade on shield or turret rating?

The nob is 3 APL, and you have two ways to hand out +1 APL
You also have universal charge from conceal, which is simple but very strong in keeping your boyz safe till the right moment, and also combos directly with Skulk About even if they do get shot
Just a Scratch is so good that its now become a byword for similar damage-ignoring ploys on later teams
You can also further close the distance with Shhhhhh
On open boards, consider dropping the burna boy for a regular boy who'll give you free stun/smoke nades every turn
>>97601218
Yes, conceal only normally prevents you from charging. You can always fight on conceal. So Kommandos can charge/fight while on conceal, ideally placing yourself somewhere you'll still be in cover should you kill the enemy in melee and thus keep yourself safe from return fire
And you can't reposition/dash in the same turn that you charge anyway
>>
>>97601218
>No matter what it's gonna cost 3 AP to reposition or dash close enough, charge, and the use the fight action to melee
Sounds like you've got a lot to learn about how the game works if you still think you can charge in the same turn as another movement action.
Use conceal orders to sneak up, position yourself to be in charge range for an enemy model that is already expended. Then, next turn, you are ready to charge -> fight them. Set up two of those opportunities and you'll mitigate the risk of losing initiative (should you do so and one of your threats gets picked off, you still have the second one).
Between 10 wounds, 4/5 damage, just a scratch to punch way above weight/stonewall enemy counterattacks, and conceal charges, the team is really capable. Then you add their surprisingly good shooting to take care of remote threats (make sure to bring harpoons, they are marine-killers when you have dakka dakka dakka active), and you have a team that doesn't really have any major weaknesses.

>A. Are navy breachers any good? I think they look cool
They're pretty nice nowadays. I think they're a bit skewed - a lot of their power is in their damage reduction ploy and their one time servo-skull detonation and then the rest of the team is less powerful to compensate, which can be a shame. They're also pretty tough against power armoured teams, given their lack of armour piercing. Definitely worth playing overall though.
Do beware, you need to either do some cutting and bring a spare 28mm base or buy two boxes to get the two gunners you're allowed to field. Really stupid box setup on this one. At least with a second box you'll also get every alternative weapon option you'd ever want and the spare armsmen for swapping in.
>B. What does the inside of the chainfist hand look like, is it like a power-mitten?
I guess? I dunno what you're expecting to find in there. It's kinda plain.

>>
>>

Chainsword/Chainaxe + autopistol/plasma and grenade (demo or blasting charge) best loadout for them.
There are plenty of chainsword/axe bits from Jakhals kits, Jakhals also fairly cheap due to them being in all World Eater big boxes.
2 chainsword/axe, not a great loadout but jakhal got them and it looks cool.
Stubgun, then demo/blasting charge or knfie on the other arm. The cheapest loadout. Every bits are from the kits. downside is that orlock stubgun is so ugly.
Hand flamer, then chainsword/axe/knife/stubgun/demo charge on other arm.
Don't have to buy weapon on the "other arm" right at start if you're short on credit, just don't cheat and inform your opponents. Chainaxe is trading post weapon so you can't start with it.
>>
>>97603386
>>97603118
The las volley is kinda ass this edition. Range limitations aren't actually that important in KT thanks to conceal orders letting you get up close, so the default selection should be melta + plasma.

Is it just me or are clan Pestilens Skaven quite strong in Mordheim? My group started playing Mordheim recently and I thought Plague Monks are really cool so I picked them for my first warband. Since then we have played four games and I have yet to lose one, and I have now gathered enough gold to add a Rat Ogre to my warband, although adding it feels like making a strong warband even stronger?
How do you keep games of Mordheim fair? I'm kind of worried my warband is turning into a deathball that wont be fun to play against or with.Should I just roll up another type of warband?

There are not so many different weapon systems and they dont have that much tactical variation. They have already done every variation.
Lances have low dice but high penetration. Weaponbatteries have high dice but normal strenght.
Torpedos are ordnance that can force opponents to move in another direction.
Ordnances are torpedos that can move behind obstacles.
Nova cannon is a sniper weapon.
Anon >>97598225 is right that light cruisers and battleships could have potencial for more classes. But when you look at escorts, the combinations are not that many with only those weapon systems avaible.
Thats why they released the Falchion light cruiser and similar escorts or grand cruisers to play woth the ship hull stats.

Might as well post the ships if anyone has feedback or ideas for others
>Subjugatior Class Cruiser
Essentially a Dominator with the nova cannon swapped for a Bombardment Cannon like a space marine strike cruiser, but probably fixed forward
>Saturn Class Battlecruiser
The aforementioned Battlecruiser'd Gothic
>Warlord Class Pocket Battleship
An Overlord with bigger guns, thinking either s10 or a pair of s5 or 6 batteries per side, maybe an extra shield and turret, and the engine explode rule like the Mercury Cruiser has
And this last one I'm not so sure about but it's the only other I could think of stats for
>Jupiter Class Battleship
Bombardment Cannon Broadsides
Other ship names I though of include: Oligarch & Neptune
Finally, is there any specific formula or way of calculating a custom ships point cost?

>fail bottle, my 7+ leader leaves
>everyone else fails their cool checks except for one juve who was at T1, opponent succeeds his cool
>Turn 5, lose priority, abberant charges juve and OOA's
I'm not even mad. Shit like that is why I love Necromunda. Homie was rolling like shit the whole game up until that point
>>
>>97613868
Homebrew is kinda weird. You expect them to be overpowered or unbalanced. So people like to stick to the official rulebooks/fleetlists. I think thats what people forget why many are so company focused. Something everybody can or has to agree on.
>>
>>97614328
>Subjugatior Class Cruiser
That is kinda the question. Give them other stats or weapons that defines a faction. Honestly i would leave the bombards with Space Marines.
>Saturn Class Battlecruiser
Sounds you found a variation. Legit interesting. But the dorsal lance should be the only 60cm and the sides still 30cm or 45cm.
>Warlord Class Pocket Battleship
Sounds too much like a RPG used ship. You dont need an existing class but bigger guns. If you want more Weapon batteries you could take the overlord and give him weapon batteries in the prow like the Emperor battleship has. No 6+ front armor and the player has to decide which weapon batterie side he supports. And keep the dorsal lances to make him differ from the Emperor.
>Jupiter Class Battleship
Like with Subjugatior. When you want bombards, you could easily just hire Space Marine cruisers.

The only thing good about those sets are the tokens, templates, barricades and the dice.
Everything else is shit.
If you have way to get anything of the above mentioned from regular 40k (templates), making your own (tokens/terrain), etc it quickly loses value.
With Necroraw there is even less value for the rulebook you can buy, as you can simply print the rules if you want a physical copy.

A lot of scenarios start you with six guys. This was a multiplayer side game so we started with 3 but rolled d3 for bottle checks. I rolled a six. It makes it kinda goofy for Cawdor because bottle checks go off of your starting crew, not the guys left on the battlefield. So I can have like 17 fucking guys on the battlefield, lose one, and still bottle on a 6 if I started the game with 6

How would you go about including this model in Necromunda as a ganger?
I'm thinking squat ganger statblock, Ironhead shotgun, maybe a giant rat as a pet.

Just getting started with Necromunda. This is my first draft of a list for a dominion campaign. I’ve got the books and trying to figure out the rules. Is this legal?

There are to many options that would fit. maybe the flimsy delaque cawdor and escher not so much but everything with at least flakarmour, a decent str stat and something like shotgun or handcannon (+exotic beast) would fit. enforcer with doggo, probably the main suspects but goliath should fit good as well. i am not so familiar with ironheads to know what exotic beasts besides those drones they can get (and if those drones rules would fit for that pet). but there is probably a brute/hangeron that fits him (no idea thought).

>Finally, is there any specific formula or way of calculating a custom ships point cost?
The battlefleet heresy crowd had a custom ship builder that let you go full ham.
Have you considered a grand cruiser as a base for your customs? You'd get 4 slots on each side that let you do quite a bit.

Nah I think Daemons will remain in a very limited capacity for each god devoted legion but yeah overall I think they are going to TOW too.

It's unfortunate but Blood Bowl attracts people who like American football but it catfishes them because it's not a game downs like football. The people writing the rules actually are going out of their way to make the game even less like football. Passing has been butchered. They have cut the positional pieces each team can use effectively in half. It's in a really bad state right now. Games workshop is murdering this game.

If you have played Goblins or halfings or one of these meme stunty teams and still enjoy the game, I would say you are living your best life because you just don't care about winning. All the agi teams and elf teams have been nurfed with each team losing blitzers or catchers. Now elf teams have very little special about them. Just a bunch of squishy linemen. So while Goblins were bad, you probably were at least having fun. When you play elves you usually don't have fun. You spend most the game with your players on the bench while you are just waiting for the game to be over.

I misread you actually had 5 men, but still no champs.
If you aren't trying to troll with that list then you must've not read the rule. Champs are needed because they can do post battle action. Most gangs start with 2. Also champs give "group activation", I don't think you need an explanation why it's a good thing to have.
You bought 2 flamers on your Cawdor leader? A cheaper Cawdor flamer and a more expensive one from the TP??? Isn't this the most obvious meme/troll move ? Most gangs don't start with flamer because it's too expensive/not fit the gang theme/or they already got better alternative. In the case of Cawdor they got the much cheaper Polearm+Blunderbuss as their flamer alternative.
Vandoth is a bounty hunter, a temporary member of the gang that stay for 2-3 game before he left. He's powerful but he's unreliable for your gang developement. If you want a gang with Vandoth as a permanent member play Outcast
Outlaw venator, venator's entire gimmick is that they're bounty hunter, and they got lots of credit from selling captive and dead fighters. Making an outlaw venator make them unable to utilize this mechanic.
5-men gang is below average for general scenarios. You should check the scenarios being used in your group to determine the average men needed for a gang. 8-9 fighters is the universal number of fighters for a starting gang, for most book scenarios.

The other Anon was correct. You need more dudes, a couple champs, and drop the expensive hired gun in favour of 3-4 gangers.
Are you just trying to create a gang to fit a specific bunch of minis you like? Can we see a pic of them?
>>
>>97633140
Speaking of the polebuss, how does that perform in game? I remember a while ago I made a gang list that has 7-8 of them in it but due to personal stuff I never played it. But thinking back now, I feel like stacking 8 of any weapon would be kind of cheesey

>>
>>97634072
It's the only good (and fun) unique weapon they had, and it's the sole reason you play them, you like to burn stuff. Outside of that they had the greatsword, which is not unique, but quite a scary and a bit of a meme weapon. If you want more variety and less spam you had to bring the redemptionists, Redemptionists are half of their assets, because they don't get the usual champ and prospect like other house. If you want to be an autist cawdor purist but don't want fags to nag about "spam" then you just had to settle playing as a discount orlock with shitty autogun and stubgun.

Played a 475 point game of MESBG today as Khazad-Dum. It was To The Death (just kill each other) and I think dwarves are a bit busted. Almost tabled him, he had 2 kataphracts and his named Easterling general left at the end of the game.

since ktg seems to be dead I'll ask here
I know the chaos legionary box is out of rotation but is it still "legal" for matched play? I'd love to kitbash a world eaters killteam using it but I don't want a repeat of my hunter clade getting finished a day before they swept away all the compendium teams lmao
>>
>>97636217
>is it still "legal" for matched play?
Assuming your local game scene isn't official GW tournaments or hypercompetitive shitters, yes it is legal until next edition (likely 2027, based on the 3 year pattern).
>my hunter clade getting finished a day before they swept away all the compendium teams
Hunter clade isn't a compendium team and is still legal under all the same conditions as legionaries though

The newest addition to my tomb world's painted bits.
Next I will finish the walls with 5 guys sitting on them. I'm practically painting an entire kill team just to decorate some of the wall pieces in the set. Looks great when I do finish it though of course.

I completely forgot the defiant cost 120 points not 110 like the others in the endeavor family so now I'm 10 points overbudget.
Just how important are carriers in battlefleet gothic? I'm considering just taking one dictator for this fleet and relying on 3 avenger grand cruisers worth of weapon batteries to deal with the shortcomings

Spegs and Sperglings, which version of old Epic is the best? I know most people play the new fanmade version of Epic or LI these days, but me and my mates want to go back and play one of the old ones to experience it and get a taste of a game we never got to play.
I think this is the one we should try? Epic from 1997. Beyond a few Firepower Magazines everything seems to be contained to the Army Book so it seems like a "one and done" sorta game which is nice.
We would probably want to do Guard or Marines vs Chaos.
Is Epic 1997 the best choice for an OG Epic experience, or should we go with Epic Armageddon from 2003, Space Marine from 1989 etc.
TIA for any help :)

Sorry for the late reply.
I had an idea for a gang of outcasts (before I knew that Outcast Gangs were a thing) that follow Vandoth around. They are inspired by an outcast SoB that’s correctly guessed what he is. She is under the delusion that by drinking his blood she can empower herself and others with a fraction of the Emperor’s power and purge the undergone. In truth, she and the others become addicted to his genhanced blood and crave more. They bring in bounties dead, drained of blood, to secure credits to keep themselves armed.
Vandoth for his part doesn’t care as long as they help him and don’t get in his way.

I'm guessing that stands for living rulebook? The problem is Blood bowl has always been flawed. It's not a very good game. It just has a strong cult community that won't accept any criticism. I only like it because it's like American football but it plays nothing like american football. The pacing of BlitzBall seems like it might be designed better though. I also was looking at a game called Guild Ball which might be better rules.

Well if you initiate it people rarely refuse it. But depending on region it is now way less typical to shake hands over all (in buisness, casual meetups and so on) to not shake hands anymore because of the pandemic. Other regions just do not care.

Your picrel is shit. Imagine the 3ed streamlining except done twice as hard, washing out any flavor in the process.
Your options are:
Classic Epics:
>Space Marine - the classic granular one, "40k but on a larger scale", fun but janky
>Epic 40k (your pic) - super streamlined play but fun is gone
New Epics:
>NetEpic - fan-updated version most similar to Space Marine
>Epic Armageddon - like someone took Epic 40k and dialed it back to sane levels, so they kept some streamlining mechanics, but you actually had varied units and weapons back. Was pretty well received.
The last two at some point either merged, or someone made a new version containing both, called NetEA. Seems closer to EA than NetE, but I stopped paying attention at this point so I can't tell you much about it.

Aeronautica Imperialis is a game about predicting your oppponent next move, aircraft knowledge and how to abuse the shit out it. For example if you play as Eldar against your opponent's Valkyrie. You can stay at attitude 9 and be completely safe against the shitty Valkyrie because it can only stay at attitude 7 and in the game you can only shoot at 1 attitude below or above. Or a more nimble aircraft can turn better than a sluggish bomber.
GW made a 2nd edition of Aeronautica and throw all of that out of the window. Max attitude is now 5 and play area is on much smaller hex board instead of any board, there're really nowhere to run. All aircrafts can turn with ease now, and "ground-only" rule for a lot of close air support weapons were removed, making them the deadliest dogfight weapons, because insane firepower. So really the game is just a dice rolling simulator.
The worst cardinal sins any warhammer game can get is a failed 10 second google search (or just copy paste from old edition) to get the info correct, and the writer for the reboot edition did it, so many shits are wrong, at the end of the game's run they don't even care any more and put the pictures of the aircraft wrong too. Funny because a nerd with no google and wikis make all the plane specs correct in original AI, down to autistic details.

Honestly Epic Space Marine was fine when it was just the box set. The problems crept in when the expansions had to add special rules for every other unit. So instead of just squaring off and rolling dice, the ork player would be rolling on a chart to see how far the lifta-droppa moved a land raider before dropping it, or tracing line of sight to determine where a shot bounced off a forcefield and the imperial player would be tracking plasma dice for his Imperator titan.

I like Armageddon, it's the strongest imperial fleet imo. For every light cruiser you get a battle cruiser. Pairing a reserved in mechanicus endeavor with an Armageddon is stronk. Can throw in a few excellent marine escorts or strike cruisers.
