I just make fun models and use them as proxies for existing datasheets. If you find the right people to play with they won't care that the model looks different and it makes things less confusing for everyone.

I would love if Imperial Guard got all their Regiments that are not Cadian-adjacent wrapped up in one new codex.

Keep it as aligned to the rest as possible. Also helps if you make tables/charts for custom units. You want to work from a stable point of reference.

I'd rather we stop inflating rules and codices

Would it be possible to home-brew a grot detachment? I was thinking
>use dread mob rules
>change the waagh to +1 attack for ranged weapons, all attacks benefit from all 3 dread mob abilities at the same time, keep the invuln save
There's no grot characters apart from legends units, but most of the army would be made of legends units anyway as gw decided to squat just about everything in 10th

I get the "unifying the game experience" PR sell point but narrative games really need a campaign system that connects games together so I really hope it doesn't mean they are removing Crusade from the game.

Use the closest base game rules you can adapt to your homebrew. After I built picrel I used him in a few casual games using the legends datasheet for Karamazov with different Imperial weapons slapped on. Now I can just him as an Enthroned Agent though so that is nice.

As a NLfag I really, really hope that if he comes back is as some sort of renegade and not another chaos primarch for this exact reason. I want him to ruin the day for everyone. Maybe a pirate king with marines and deldar under his command I dunno. There's also the very small possibility of coming back redeemed since death may have cured him of his schizo multiple personality disorder and the emperor already talked to mortarion about redemption

that's a story the orks tell, and one that's practically not canon anymore
if we were to align the greenskins of 40k with the greenskins of fantasy we would run in more problems such as the 40k ones having started as krorks and degenerated into orks only with the disappearance of the old ones, while the orcs in fantasy arrived exactly as they are and alongside living old ones, although it was possibly a mistake on their part
you want the tyranid story to still be canon? then the one working fix is to assume that squigs already existed and the result of those events wasn't the birth of ALL squigs, but rather of some very specific and very creepy kinds of squigs

All of Warhammer exists to sell toys.
So if Sanguinius and Horus will print loads of money for GW then they will come back and the lore will be modified to insert them.
>>97929708
I'll admit I want Clonegrim to come back.
But I think his whole plot point is "discarded potential" as GW won't revisit it and probably can't for legal reasons I think.

The main character of trilogy somehow pulling out a grenade without Jain Zar noticing or reacting in time (she is described earlier in the fight as so fast that her running footsteps sound like pouring rain) is pure plot armor. What a dumb way to end the fight.

>Are cooler than canon armies
The problem with homebrews is that cool concepts eventually get done too many times and then it becomes a tired cliche.
And sometimes the cool concepts are already canonically done so homebrews are just a different take on what is already done.
I found out my guard regiment was basically a load of reusing already canon stuff. But some anons may have taken pity on me and gave me some ideas.

>Gets hit point blank with a grenade
This is the part that is fucking "Saturday morning cartoon villain caught monologuing" levels of silly. This is one of the fastest members of a race that have lightening fast reactions as a baseline. Talos would have had to (while immobilized) grab the grenade, pull the pin, wait for the fuse time without Jain Zar noticing. What exactly was she distracted by in their 1v1 to allow this to happen? It's a dumb.

In the new Space Marine detachment you can remake fuegan's partybus
Repulsor with 6 Erads + Biologis with the enhancement
It's cheaper
It does similar damage (and way, way more if you spend a CP for a strat) and that damage number is 'kills god'
The individual units are way tankier
The Repulsor is tankier than the WS
The repulsor is shootier than the WS
The erads have better movement tricks than the Fire Dragons
the Erads are tankier than the fire dragons
The unit is just cheaper and better than prime Fuegan partybus

>>97929972
You get magazines with models, paints, and different brushes. The magazines teach you about the lore, show you how to play the game, and give you painting tips. It’s basically beginner stuff. Each faction lineup is the same as the older Combat Patrol boxes, so you can technically play Combat Patrol with like eight different factions, but none of the model sets get anywhere near 1000 points.

No it's not, space wolves are officially something like air superiority blue, that art is more of a slate gray. it's def not just lighting since the faces are perfectly lit. If space wolves looked like this they'd be way less gay.
>>
>>97929935
I think you're right.
But given that I am sure a good number of 40k stuff is homebrew from fans that got canonized I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case where a lot of good fan concepts done in homebrew are now canon and also now overused.
>>
>>
>>
>>97929869
>cliché
The problem of "clichés" isn't that they're overdone, it's that they're done POORLY and THEN overdone.
There's a ton of clichés people don't complain about because they're consistantly done properly.

even if its true that its not a different color scheme, and just a different tone, you’re just being pedantic because that doesn’t invalidate what he said.

>>
>>97930205

>>97930208
The point is that colorschemes are never the issue, it's how they're executed. While you may think it's pedantic because you see the point as "lol wrong word", the real point is that a lot of fun things are locked away behind using a different tone or two.

It isn't pedantic, you're just wrong and retarded. Color scheme does not mean "da body is blue, and da shoulders are red!". It includes the entire hue and saturation info at play. Are you a simpleton? Genuinely, this is like a child's understanding of color.
What you're (maybe if I read your retard babble as generously as possible) imagining is happening is that the entire peice is low saturation as a style or lighting choice, but that is clearly not the case to anyone without retard faggot idiot disease.

This part never seems to click with Eldar 'fans'.
If we go decades with Eldar being losers, puncing bags, and jobbers that's not a case of "GW is underselling the Eldar!", it's "Eldar are meant to be this way".
They don't like Eldar, they like their headcanon rewrite of the entire Eldar faction.

Honestly thats probably what the fix will be.
Cut the cables from the backpack to arm, swap in a traditional plasma-pistol bionic, and then just do a gun graft.
Servo arm I'm just going to need to cut and refit.
I ran out of my good super glue, fell back on what I had as a backup and it just didn't quite work.
Tabletop quality is fine but its very easy to see the issues up close .

I think at the AoS section there is more creative allowance for the sculptors, but the 40k section is far more heavily controlled as 40k is GW's main source of income and economic expansion to my knowledge.

We literally went over this last thread, a Warlord Titan Princeps is more valuable to the Imperium's war machine than an entire Space Marine company. There would be beef thrown around over it but ultimately the diplomatic resolution of "unfortunate collateral, he died in the name of the Emperor" would be the end of it.
>>
>>97931289
they’re a dime a dozen. they throw away priceless armor away for cheap booby traps, or even just because they’re bored with it, they’ll throw them in junk piles for orks to loot. no doubt they have a similar carelessness about geneseed and their men, and would hardly miss another space wolf who didn’t pay attention and got killed for it.
>>
>>97931304
Would they even go to the inquisition? Mars/Mech wouldn't give a shit about a Princeps stepping on some wolf and I'm not sure the Inquistion would care about Space "Mouths of Shame" Wolves crying to them.

Your argument is "Hey this dumbass didn't see nor hear the giant mass of metal coming their way and didn't move out of the way". Marines both in real life and in 40k are smart enough to avoid a 30 meter tall robot, if one was dumb enough to get stepped on one that is entirely their own fault.
>>
>>
>>
>>97931316
in that scenario, all of them are still subject to the united states laws and under their military. titan legions and space wolves are completely different states, and it would be an absolute nightmare to investigate or persecute some fucker on a forgeworld especially when they’re the ones providing support and give you all the equipment that you so lovingly throw in the trash and use as disposable booby traps.

I mean, he could probably get away with going up to the titan pilot and killing him, and everyone inside the titan, but that’s going to result in the space wolf gravy train drying up because they’re going to be completely embargoed by the forgeworlds, and they’ll become marines malevolent tier when it comes to being broke and unsupported.

The AdMech don't apologize to Astartes, certainly not on behalf of a titan Princeps. The wolves would simply get stonewalled/ignored by the Mechanicus until they just gave up or did something monumentally stupid (like picking a fight with the Collegia Titanica).

Yeah. Assassins are hyper specialised individuals. Marines are semi-mass-produced elite soldiers. You're not going to make multiple armies worth of assassins. You'd be better off comparing them to custodes, though it's still apples and oranges. Or apples and bananas I suppose.

I think this entire argument is retarded. A Space Marine would have no trouble avoiding being stepped on by a Knight and is more than capable of not being found underfoot. A Knight Princep is proficient enough in the command of their machine to avoid accidentally stomping an Astartes warrior.
This is just middleschool banter, a game of chicken between retards in which increasingly high effort displays of retardation are undertaken until one finally concedes that the other is the true master baiter; and everyone else at the lunch table laughs.
Make no mistake there are no stakes or high ground to be found here. It's just idiots in the mud making a mess. I will be quite grateful to be rid of it.

>>
>>97931434
The best part is that Fecal does not realize that the Wolves are firm believers in self-reliance. The William King books have plenty of camaraderie, but even more moments of retards dying or being shamed by superiors and other Space Wolves for being stupid and/or impulsive. The Wolves are not being babysat by Big Daddy Grimnar, they either are competent or die and a new aspirant is expected to take their place with the geneseed. I agree with you that the Marvel slop nature of newer books making Chapter Masters and Primarchs just swoop in and solve everything is fucking nonsensical and retarded.

If I had to guess? Yes because Space Marines have a lot of overlap with Assassins in terms of eliminating HVT but take on more broad and frontline combat roles so if the Assassins weren't worth more or better than a Space Marine at eliminating specific HVTs then there really wouldn't be a reason to have super specialized Assassins to do jobs that could be done by the superhuman shock troops that can be dropped from orbit.
For an actual ranking of disposability
>Titans
>Custodes
>Grey Knights
>Imperial Knights
>Assassins
>Space Marine
>Guardsmen
>Planetary Defence Forces
Is probably what the ranking would look like in terms of disposability. Things like the Inquisition, IG Generals, IN Admirals, Navigators, and if the Marine is a Captain or Chapter Master makes things complicated because obviously a Marine Captain is probably worth more than an Assassin while an IG General is possibly be more valued than a tactical/scout marine.
>>
>>97931443
the original image was clearly meant to imply they were fighting against each other, and an unlucky marine just happened to be too preoccupied or incapacitated to avoid getting stepped on. it was only a certain someone barging in to say that it was an accident, and that the titan pilot would receive heavy punishments over it, to which other anons played along with the idea in order to make fun of how retarded the poster is.

That's not the wrong tact to take, the problem is he's still got the wrong end of the horse. The important asset is the Titan, and the Princeps is effectively the Titan. You can't trade out Princeps willy-nilly in a Titan's throne, so if they are not available to pilot a Titan, that machine is no longer an asset until a new one can be acclimated to the throne, such a laborious process that it would never be done as a temporary measure.

One of the biggest failings is that GW only included rules for the Dirge Siren in Crusade.
So EC can use Dirge Sirens, turning Land raiders and Rhinos into Sonic Land Raiders and Sonic Rhinos but only with a subgame no one plays, which is obviously an oversight by GW.
So they technically have themed vehicles, whose sonic capabilities are mentioned in their codex.
Death guard has like 25 unique datasheets though which is larger than the others.

Anon I was 12 at the time and had zero concept of what the meta was like (Or the fact that there even was a meta), I just picked them because I was a dumb weeb who watched Gundam on Toonami after school (I'm still a dumb weeb who watches Gundam) and saw the army with cool robots and was drawn in. The old art by Karl Kopinski and Adrian Smith is really what sold me though.

If it's just for painting, get whatever you think is coolest, but if you plan to play on the table with them, make sure you're really into that faction. Getting DG or EC locks you into that sub faction, you won't be able to take plague marines with you into an EC army for example. You'll also be locked out of a lot of potential units because of the subfaction rules, unlike with the generic chaos marines for example.

>rubric dreads exist in lore
>cultists, traitor guard, close combat terminators exist in the smash hit recent game
>heavy weapon rubrics exist in lore
instead we get statue robits

How important are slotted bases for metal minis?
I have two metal eldar gun crew and I'm thinking of just glueing them to the 60mm base of the metal support weapon as a kind of mini-diorama.
To do this I'd need to cut off the metal tabs though. Will they actually stick to the base without that?

They're not completely necessary, but due to the higher top weight of metal models they're the higher chance of coming off their bases. I'd recommend pinning you models to the base if you do cut off the metal tab.
