Escaflowne and Dunbine, but I've watched neither
I think the ones from Saukra Taisen are have magic powering them
I think that Japanese mecha TTRPG getting translated is also fantasy

What mech is the most fuckable?
Also how do I add heat mechanics to mekton? I like the part of mechwarrior where they can only wear coolant vests and short shorts inside their machines
>>
Gonna run lancer with a lot of limits and survival rules inspired by Deserts of Kharak.

I got a bunch of encounters and scenarios ready, additionally the group decided they are techno barbarians so thats gonna be cool when their clan unleashes an ancient mini mobile base for their expedition

Sakura Taisen koubu are powered by spiritual energy and act as power amplifiers. Knights and Magic has a mech otaku being transported into a world with primitive magic mechs and he applies his passion to them.

Not sure if the Baba Yaga Slav myth counts as a fantasy mech when incorporated into fantasy settings.

I did like the walking house from the amulet graphic novel series.

Hey, I know Lancer sucks or whatever, but someone in our gaming group wanted to run it, and since this person never usually runs games, we agreed in order to encourage them. We're doing Wallflower and we just hit the first downtime, so now I need to pick a license. Looking at what everyone else is going into, we need a defender, but I made the mistake of putting my starting points into agility. Can someone who actually plays games give me some build advice. Unfortunately "don't play Lancer" isn't an option.
>>
>>98086724
Look up Saladin and Drake.
Two resilient mechs that also benefit from the movement bonus of 2 in agi.
>>
>>98086724
>need a Defender
Tortuga.
>>
>>98087043
Saladin and Drake look like they spend most of their time immobilized.

>>98087209
Tortuga doesn't look like it can't do damage mitigation like the other defenders.

I probably should have given some more details, I need to keep a Blackbeard, Barbarossa, and some kind of hacker alive. I also want to feel like I actually got something useful from the first level.
>>
>>98087574
>Saladin and Drake look like they spend most of their time immobilized.
Slowed, not immobbed, except for that one system, but drake is mainly a moving tank that can bunker up. Its weakness is getting into position.
>>
>>98086724
If you guys are playing with long rim, grab the atlas. It's a gimicky meathead mech but it's just too fun.
>>
>>98087574
>some kind of hacker
If your hacker isn't a little pussy, they could both hack AND tank with a Tortuga or Minotaur.
Also Tortuga being used as hard cover is nothing to scoff at. Your team would get passive damage mitigation just by standing next to you.
>>
Speaking of LANCER, I've been in an LL2 game running a White Witch with Tempest Charge Blade, abusing the high speed, high HP and ever-increasing armor to be a big angry berserker for everyone else to rally behind. We're about to hit LL3, and right now the consideration is Auto-Stabilizer on the sword for my Core Bonus, Death's Head 1 to get to ignore terrain height, and a shift from Engineer to Pankrati so I can do big fuckoff leaps into melee 1/scene. What I'm unsure on is where to go after that. Nelson 1 to bypass terrain more or less entirely combined with the Death's Head mag clamps seems fine, but otherwise I have no real idea where to go on Licenses/Talents.
>>
>>98087599
What about Orchis? It looks like mobility is part of it's kit. Napoleon also looks like it does similar stuff to the Saladin, but without needing to stand still.

There's also Lord of the Elemental, a SRW spin off, it's were Masaki, Shu, the Cybuster and Granzon come from. Mashin Hero Wataru and Magic Knight Rayearth are fantasy too.
>>
>>98092364
Death's Head 1 gives High-Stress Mag Clamps, which let you ignore terrain height. Heroic Charge off Pankrati 2 lets you 1/scene do a charge that ignores difficult terrain, but not terrain *height.* Nelson 1 gives Bulwark Mods which ignore difficult terrain at all times. Wearing both is, effectively, trading 2 LLs for permanent zero-cost flight for all purposes except things like the Ace talent. White Witch has a dogshit base 4 heat capacity and is Size 2 so heat-based flight wouldn't be feasible. I'm using a Superheavy weapon, so using the GMS Jump Jets means I won't be able to attack with it that turn without Overcharging, which is again not a great idea due to the shit heat cap.

Fantasy world where humanity managed to travel to the moon only to find a temple. The astronauts went into the temple and the moon exploded raining down a material that corrupts fauna into metal monsters ala zoids. The moon fall destroyed everything and so people rebuilt and now are kind of a medieval society where they hunt the zoids for their cores which produce energy which they use to power more humanoid mecha. There's cults, bandits, and other kingdoms as the main threats. I was going to have them be knight aspirants running a tournament gauntlet to become knights for prestige. Instead I'm running 5e. Sometimes that's just how things go.

I feel like the word 'deconstruction' gets overused with mech settings. Unless you're actually trying to make a setting in which mechs are as stupid an idea as they are IRL then you're not really deconstructing the genre, you're just finding a new way to make giant robots fight.

CEGA is the Earth government and imposes its imperialist ambitions over the colonies in the inner solar system. A terrorist group of ex-CEGA soldiers is led by the Char-like leader "G".
The Jovian Confederation is the next biggest power in the solar system, and serves as the good guys "not-Gundam" faction.
Venus is run by the Venus Bank which also backs CEGA's actions. Its Chairman, Devon Malachi, is JC's equivalent of Paptimus Sirocco.
Mercury is the home of most of the solar system's civilian merchant fleet.
Mars is divided between two nations: the Martian Free Republic and the CEGA puppet Martian Federation. The Red planet is most likely where you could find ground warfare.
There's also Nomads, and the Moon as minor factions.

I was there for the beta, when it was being developed on this board. Its a boring 4e clone that skips over all the interesting bits of mecha, both combatwise and in repairing/maintaining your mech. The game is bland slop pushed by a politically radicalised crowd of insane lunatics whom obsessively worship one of the most dystopian and evil political structures ever, and some of the most depraved fetishes I have come across, and I say that as a man with Asanagi and Shindol doujins on his shelf.
And what's worse, they try to push these on to other people, and do their best to patasitise, colonise, and subvert every board, server, and thread they can.
In short, fuck off you vile sub-hominid genetic dead end.

Once you see this shit going on in some niche thing, you start noticing it everywhere because you know the lingo, unironic dogwhistles they constantly throw out and iconic cabalistic behavior pursuing moderator positions. They get plausible deniability just from the sheer unbelievable absurdity of what they're up to. They know it and exploit it religiously to make anyone that questions them look crazy. One of these people even told me they were a campaign organizer for some LGBT shit (guess which party huehue) in cali and they refer to it as embracing super villain status in their circles. They fucking ghosted and deleted their entire online footprint the nanosecond they got the impression they might've been candid with the wrong person, probably after sharing the logs with someone else.

Well anyway, Lancer is pretty fucking gay yeah. I'd kill for a mecha tabletop game like Blue Gender that's all about operating with a small squad of mechs you need to maintain and secure supplies for while operating planetside and cut off from the supply chain.

Lancehounds is right there. I still need to wrangle my group into playing it myself but I think it's got basically 80% out of everything I'd want in a mech game.
>>
>>98124925
What's the other 20% then, anon?
>>
>>98124984
Lancehounds very specifically emulates the dog-fighting-but-on-the-ground of AC, which IS cool, but that makes combined arms warfare, mech boarding like in titanfall and smaller power armor-ish mechs harder to simulate. I still think it's a system with huge potential though, especially for PvP arena fights.

Anyone here who plays Battle Century G? I don't get the point of combiner mechs. Like combining averages your stats out, so it doesn't seem like it'd bethe raw boost in power it advertises itself as. And unless you have a more passive player, it doesn't seem like being a subpilot would be very much fun.
>>
Would you allow one of your players to play a non-combat character like a mechanic or bridge bunny?
>>
>>98127099
you do it to larp as a combiner it doesn't need to have a point
>>
>>98127185
They would need a meaningful way to contribute during a fight. Otherwise I don't see the point.
>>
>>98127185
mechanic could maybe manage character sheet stuff for the other players' mecha but as the other anon said they wouldn't be involved a lot of the time and the role could probably work better as an NPC
>>
>>98127185

>>
>>98125358
Well you're in luck, anon, power armor is on the table already. In fact, it was from the start - the name, MCS, Mechanized Combat Suit, means it's a scaled up version of the PCS, or Personal Combat Suit. I'm hesitant to actually start doing shit like Titanfall because Lancer infamously tried it and had to ditch it/hobble it for the sake of balance, but work in the background has made it somewhat viable, actually. I'm currently expanding on more rules for man-sized guns beyond holdout weaponry for a LANCEHOUND based on what I already wrote for infantry, that being SAWs, anti-tank rockets and missiles, planted explosives and being able to carry around a squad of PCS infantry on your own MCS because I realize that half of what I invent already exists in Battletech, embarrassing me to no end.

Glad you think my system has potential though, anon. I attribute most of it to Troubleshooter, who helped my ass out like a year ago in these threads with figuring shit out.
>>
>>98127644
What game was that? Sounds very neat.
>>
>>98131948
I feel like building off the holdout weaponry system would make stuff the most cohesive, since if you're dealing with two separate scales of weapons already, introducing a third might get hard to track.

That said, having an option to rock a mech sized gun on a hard suit is fucking sick and that should totally be an option for one of the power armor chassis.

Also
>Lancer infamously tried it and had to ditch it/hobble it for the sake of balance
What went wrong there? I've found mixing squads of size 1/2 mechs and bigger mechs to be one of the more interesting parts of lancer combat.
>>
