This movie is fucked, crazy how Disney killed the brand in 10 years... When Masters of the Universe will make more money than the Mandalorian and Grogu, the House of Mouse should rethink their franchise plans.
>>
>>
>>
literally all they had to do was come out with a mass retail, kid and collector friendly 3.75" toy line with playsets and vehicles for this movie and they would have printed money
hasbro doesn't deserve the license
>>
>>
>>11689426
toy production is a little more complicated than that anon. there is probably a reason they didn't ask (You) for business advice
>>11689440
no one's engineering or sculpting is as good as hasbro's, I wouldn't want anyone else to get the license
>>
>>
>>
>>11689426
it really is that simple. One line, good enough for collectors but playable enough for kids. Creatures, vehicles and playsets.
That's it. Not 4 different scales, not 20 different vanity chibi and gimmick lines that get 1-3 waves of random bullshit, just a master toyline with compatible stuff that looks good and works like it's supposed to.
If they really want a second line, expand retro vintage.
>>

>>

>>11689524
Why that matters? You know that IF Hasbro loses the SW license, all the molds Hasbro made for SW can be used by another company, the same fucking molds! Yes! Because that's how the contract was made during the Lucas days and Disney were smart enough to keep it that way, so Disney owns all SW molds Hasbro makes. So if let's say Mattel or Jazwares make SW figures, if they have the master license, then they can just reuse Hasbro molds.

The only other company that could even come close to paying for the license would be Mattel and that's likely never going to happen because they'd have to pay more than what Hasbro is currently. It would be a stupid move.

you would think 13 years after the "content machine" started we would have a plethora of cool new characters, aliens, troopers, ships, etc. to get toys for but they still just sell vaders, bobas, clone troopers, lukes, because they don't have anything else to make

Found Shaak Ti on-shelf at Target, wasn't super excited for this figure initially, but it looks a lot nicer to me in-person than it did in the promo photos so I decided to grab her to go with the aliexpress Kamino Security clones. She's a nice figure, but I wish the fabric for the skirt was a little shorter, it's really easy for it to curve the wrong way and/or bunch up weirdly if you don't take the time to fix it. Still, visually they nailed this figure, and the leg articulation is thankfully quite usable, even though it can be a bit difficult to see how her legs are actually posed underneath all the fabric.

>>11692118
Mine should be here tomorrow along with Padme. Even though she doesn't have hinged wrists, I am really looking forward to getting her. I hope the printing on her long hanging tabard isn't misaligned like a lot of people are reporting seeing.

As for the clones, I personally love them because I really love the Kamino Security trooper design, so getting these in physical form in any capacity makes me incredibly happy; that being said, the helmet paint is unfortunately vertically mis-aligned on all of the troopers, which really shouldn't've happened since it should use the same paint stencil/template as the shock troopers and 187th troopers, which didn't suffer from this issue. The painted mouth is slightly below the sculpted 'teeth' of the helmet on all the troopers, and the mis-alignment also created a white gap between the mouth and the gray chin detail, and while you won't easily notice the mouth issue from a normal distance, you will of course always be able to see the gap that shouldn't be there on the chin. The captain doesn't suffer from that problem, but instead his right eye isn't fully 'filled in' and the top front edge of the gray helmet visor is a bit messy looking. Again, don't know why he has these issues when the other iterations of this bootleg helmet didn't have them, but the issues are present nonetheless so I'm pointing them out. The shoulder emblems are perfect, at least, but if you're not completely enamored with the idea of a grayscale shock trooper like I am, then these might be skippable for you since they look a little worse than all the other bootlegs, but if you're into the design, it's this or nothing since there's no way in hell Hasbro gets around to making them in this lifetime.
>>11692131
Mine is, as you can see, a tiny bit mis-aligned, but the other Shaak Tis on the peg had slightly messed-up faces so I didn't even think to compare them for that detail. Honestly didn't notice it at all until reading your post and looking back at my photos, it's not obvious looking at the figure on my desk so it's the kinda thing I'm willing to tolerate, although at the new $20 pricepoint it really shouldn't be like that.

I would agree with you, but then you start to to realize that that only tracks if we're talking about the sequels, which even Disney wants to forget.
The "Modern Star Wars" past that is nostalgia bait like Ahsoka (trying to pull in Rebels and Clone Wars) and Mando and Grogu (literally "We made a walking plushie/action figure: The Show).

Poop Emoji figurine, fits surprisingly well into Invisible Homer's head dent.

Just picked up this guy at Ross for $5, and I noticed there's missing paint on the armpit/shoulder.
It's not the end of the world, but along with an unusual amount of flash, should I bother harassing hasbro over a replacement? Is it even worth the effort?
Anybody gone through customer service, and what did they ask of you (did you have to send it in?), and what did you get out of it? (Basically, would I get a free figure out of it?)
Please and thank you.

Send them the picture and the issue. They will give you a form to fill out that says where you bought it from, if you have the receipt, and then you have to provide the 5 digit code that's printed on the inside of the thigh. They will send you a figure of equal value. It may be the same figure but it might not, just depends on what stock they have on hand.

Someone on /co/ back in 2017 talked about working on Rebels and there was a mandate that all character costumes be very simple, with regular clothing, and in normal colors because the higher ups wanted kids to be able to cheaply cosplay as them. They thought that helped make the characters relatable and approachable for younger kids. So everyone was wearing beige or brown coveralls that you can buy in any Walmart.

NTA, but I've been collecting for years. Something like Pre Vizla, where it's an entirely unique sculpt, has some long-needed toy engineering (very soft plastic armor pieces), and has quite a few accessories (shooting effect, knife with integrated sheath, jetpack effects, shield) is really nice, and much more tolerable at a higher price point, but something like another clone trooper, but with red paint, for $20, is much less tolerable.
MAYBE if Disney could make some good shows, and hasbro wasn't jews about box ratios (though they HAVE been getting better at that [in case you don't know what I mean, shit like 3 shelf warmers and 1 chase figure in a case of 8 makes getting said chase figure harder for you and me, whereas something smart like even ratios, or more of the desirable/army builder figures per case, means we get what we want, and pegs don't get clogged with diversity quota shit-fisto]), we would be more willing to pay $20 a figure.
But as it stands? Most of the time, it's just wait til they're on sale.

>>
>>11700031
I've seen a lot of people saying they've switched from Black Series to TVC lately. Obviously the best strategy is to continue grow the customer base but clearly Hasbro knows something when it comes to that data that we don't. Otherwise they would not continue to make these things and retailers wouldn't be ordering it. I mean hell, we just had it confirmed a few months ago that Walmart specifically asked to get more exclusives when it comes to TVC.
>>11700098
I agree that it sucks to pay that much for what is essentially a repaint, which is why I always wait for the army builder packs or just for them to go on sale. Like I've been buying those newest 501st troopers for no more than $13 a pop on Amazon since November. Things with all new tooling and are brand new characters, I don't have any issue paying full price for them. Especially if they look really good. Like that Eleventh Brother looks fantastic, especially with that soft goods cape. But I'm definitely not paying that for a repack with swivel hips unless it's something incredibly expensive on the aftermarket like Ephant Mon.

Literally 40% of the- many of them unique ships with named characters- are artificially scarce rares and chases that retail for $10-20 but sell for $50-300
If this wasn't bad enough the line is also in a weird space where it includes micro figures but never enough- anything with extra seats or cargo space is always empty, and the line feels like it's designed to have playsets and creaturesnand figure packs but there's none of those either. So you can put together things like an endor battle, but there won't be hardly ewoks, not enough troopers, and no shield generator or ewok traps. Or a battle of both, but with again not enough troopers, no canons, etc. Pretty much every "scene" you could make feels unfinished even if they've made every ship.
Don't fucking bother. Better off getting old action fleet or micro machine stuff, or nothing at all.

>So you can put together things like an endor battle, but there won't be hardly ewoks, not enough troopers, and no shield generator or ewok traps
Not to mention most of the mini figures don't even have weapons so setting up a battle scene feels weird when everyone is unarmed. I get the point of the line is to have them in vehicles but it just seems silly to sell something like a troop transport but even if you have enough minis to fill it, everyone in it just looks like they're riding the bus.

New TVC Shaak Ti and Padme are so good. Padme might have the best face I've ever seen in this scale. Shaak Ti is cool too with her softgoods and the way they paint is done on her lekku and montrals looks real nice. Just wish they could give the females hinged wrists again.

You should still try to buy what you like Anon. I have a few of the MGS things and they're really neat, I don't focus on them as my main Star Wars thing but I've never regretted any of my purchases. I keep a few of them on my desk because they're perfect for that.
>>
>>
>>11701733
Adding my two cents, I really like the ships themselves, they're nicely sculpted, offer enough play features, have good paint, and are just generally nicely built. But as anons have said the line has its problems. The mini fig thing is overblown imo. Sure, some ships are lacking, but they offer blind boxes with minifigs so you can pad out your collection by just purchasing a full set of blind boxes. The chase variant thing though is super annoying. Same with store exclusivity. I've been lucky in that I've been able to get everything I wanted. Some stuff I've even gotten super cheap, the Ghost, ATAT and U Wing come to mind. I'm pretty done with the line though as I have what I want out of it, although I would absolutely buy an Outrider if they did one.

how the fuck is the minifig problem overblown? most of the figures you would need to actually fill larger ships or transports don't come in anything except the vehicles they are already (severely) underpacked in. Yes, blind boxes with minifigs exist, but they are not the figures you need to fill things out with. There is nothing with clone pilots to take up the multiple pilot seats in various gunships and republic vehicles. There is nothing with AT AT drivers. There was only ever one single stormtrooper release in a blind box. At best the only thing you had even a slight chance of actually army building out of blind boxes are clones, and even that is so sporadic that you'd need to buy 20 or 30 minimum to actually wind up with maybe 5 or 6, and wind up with tons of extra vehicles with no figures. shut the fuck up.

BigBadToy store has the Han, DV and Luke for $19.99, same price the Blokees official sites sells that same class Transformer of action figures - which seem to be the only western licensed figures officially allowed in the States.
The licensed Star Wars, Marvel, DC and probably a few others I'm overlooking (they just got Mega Mind), which are made, thus licensed for English speakers but apparently not USA, and maybe not North America?
You'll eventually find these on Crapazon and Walmart but those will be listing from third party scalper stores.
There's a Blokees page on Amazon but it's the Transformers and some of the kids stuff they sell, like the Minions and Sesame Street.

Hasbro has made literally hundreds of figures out of characters with less than 14 seconds of screentime, including figures and outfits from deleted scenes and even dozens of concept art figures.
Frog Lady has 14 minutes of screentime and still no figure.
You're not getting shit.
>>
>>
>>
>>11704093
Yeah I think the days of "blink and you'll miss it" characters getting figures is basically over, unless they're from a vocally demanded scene like the cantina. I don't think it's necessarily that Hasbro doesn't want to, but the franchise has expanded so much that they're still playing catch up on main characters let along minor extras.

I just think robots and monsters etc. are cool. Honestly I think that's where recent Star Wars toys have gone wrong. Too many boring human toys, not enough cool aliens.
In the OT Lucas made everything so cool you could make a toy out of it, and he did, and he made bank. With Nu Star Wars they've made 100 'human with a blaster' figures and then are surprised the brand is dying.
>>
>>11704146

>>
>>11704170
>I think that's where recent Star Wars toys have gone wrong. Too many boring human toys, not enough cool aliens.
Its because Didney doesn't bother making cool aliens. The prequels were filled to the brim with alien races and tons of alien Jedi. For as shitty as Disney era shows and movies are, they can't even be bothered to have cool aliens. Stuff like Acolyte was already bad enough, but the Jedi they had in that show were just laughably boring looking, just to fit the quotas.

And nobody cares they did a parody, I showed this spot to my family and it created no emotion, nothing. They said they didn't even know a new star wars was coming. They were hyped during The Force Awakens marketing but this? This movie will bomb harder than Solo.
At Super Bowl the only good trailers were Project Hail Mary and Disclosure Day.
>>
>>11704412
>This movie will bomb harder than Solo.
I thought the Solo movie was alright. the only major flub was how he met Chewbacca and they blew the "life debt" moment, otherwise it was a very okay movie. (oh yeah I guess the naming bit was the worst part, I almost forgot about just-Han ugh)
I saw it in the theatre.
I will go spend one ticket to see M&G. I can only do my one part, it's not up to me (or you) if the movie "bombs". I can't buy 300,000 tickets all by myself, even if I truly like it a bunch, I can only buy 1
personally, I "got" the ad. I thought it was cute and surprised they did BEER ad

I understand what it was trying to do, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a retarded fucking move. And judging by how many people are stating their disappointment for not getting any new footage, it just goes to show how stupid Lucasfilm's marketing team is. Hell I have seen several comments where they thought this was the first trailer for the movie. They weren't even aware we got one a few months ago! It's like they want this movie to fail.
>>

They've suckled the Mando teat dry anyway. Any time you have to reverse course and return back to an early status quo (getting baby Yeed back with mando, bringing the Razor Crest back) you know they're desperate to find something, ANYthing that will work.
I just don't think people give a fuck about Mando anymore anyway. Its run its course and become stale, and people are long over the forced cuteness factor of Grogu.
>>
>>11704459
Its Disney who does the marketing not Lucasfilm, Lucasfilm only produce, Disney handles the marketing. Same for Marvel. Disney are doing Lilo and Stitch marketing and focus on Baby Yoda... which is fucking retarded.
>>
>>11704471
Yeah, bringing back the Razor Crest is just unoriginal and boring. I kind of accepted that Mando was going to get a new ship (since he's a bounty hunter and there's no where to fit bounties on his N1), but why not give him a new ship? It'd be a great way to market a new toy (Here's Mando's brand new ship from the new movie!). Lucas wpuld have done that but Lucas was actually better at marketing and selling toys than the retards at Disney.

Do people other than out of touch boomers and gambling addicts even care about the Super Bowl anymore? I get what it was doing, and it makes sense given the context of the ad. But I don't think too many advertisers put that much into the Super Bowl this year. At least that's kind of the impression I got. I didn't even have it on at my house.

You know what it is, right? This movie is Mando's Force Awakens. It's the reset movie. Every decision that moved the world forward is being pulled back.
Here's the comfort Grogu. Here's the comfort Babu. Here's the comfort Razor Crest. All the things you like. Please gice us money.

They literally have an entire marketing division for Lucasfilm dude. Disney just cuts the checks.

Y'know it'd be cool to see somebody do something similar to pic related with that Luke. Like an "Armored General Luke Skywalker"
>>
Star Wars is literally just "remember this?". There's no point in watching new stuff. I'd rather just watch the old stuff instead of watching new garbage that tells me to remember the old stuff.
Anyway toys... feels like there's nothing to really look forward to. Kinda miss the pipeline reveals.
>>
>>11705517
And it took you this long to realize this? I've been saying this for years and I still get enjoyment out of the franchise because of it. Just ignore the shit you don't like and move. I'll never understand why some people get so mad at something they're not forced to watch or consume.

Obi-Wan fell on my shelf, not even off the shelf onto the ground from a few feet, just on the shelf where he was and the lightsaber immediately broke. This is the second time I broke a saber peg, first was when I simply tried to pull a blade out of the hilt, as is intended, and it just snapped. They really need to go the TVC route of solid blades and separate hilts.
>>
>>
>>11706360
I've had a few break from falls. It sucks. Luckily I had some spares but for a long time I had no extra green saber so my ROTJ Luke was just saberless. I dunno why they ever went with removable blades when they always had a history of them breaking back during the Saga line and the pegs on the BS sabers are pretty much the same size as those were.

Everything that comes with the new Mando. Grogu gets plugged into his jetpack so he can sit there. And the alternate hands seems to be to accommodate the rifle.
>>
AT-RT looks really lame and not worth $70 at all. They are probably planning to do a clone wars repaint for the gunship which will suck because it's not accurate to TCW or ROTS.
Black series is getting first edition white boxes again. No way a midnight release will happen right?
>>
>>11709321
Damn, all of these figures look cool! Probably won't pay to watch the movie lol.
Except for Din, it's like, I already have FOUR of him! (But to be fair, one was a replacement cuz I accidentally broke one) I understand that it's just an unfortunate circumstance, but that rifle IS tempting!!
>>
>>11709375
Well this version at least has an updated sculpt to his torso so his flak vest has the right detail on it. Plus he has slightly different gauntlets in the movie. It's different enough for me to buy even though I've picked up just about every version of him released so far on TVC.
>>
>four (4) different imperial troopers I want to armybuild all dropping on the same day
Fuck my bank account, I hope these aren't charging and shipping too soon, definitely canceling some of these preorders later if/when they don't sell out at full price - the AT-RT at $80 seems like a safe bet that it'll get a discount later, but the AT-AT Driver seems decently likely to sell out its preorder with how long it's been since a good one of those was made, and what happened with the single-card Snowtrooper.

Yea I think I'm gonna just get one AT-RT for now and then hope it goes on sale later. Especially since I'm gonna want it in some of the inevitable repaints it's getting down the line.
I'm a bit sad about the AT-AT driver. The helmet looks way too undersized. The Black Series one looks a lot better. I think the TVC AT-RT driver looks better than the BS one however because of the softgoods kama.

Also kinda sucks that they STILL didn't bother to retool the Stormtrooper to have barbell hips. Just fucking do it already, you've easily made the money back on this mold by now and this would have been the perfect opportunity. Especially since I 've seen so many comments from people saying they aren't going to buy another Stormtrooper until they get that upgrade. I think I'm just gonna get one set of these guys and mostly just to them for Tatooine since they have the weathering but it's not too scratched up like the original Remnant trooper is.

>>11709628
I think rather than the head being too big, the neck is too long? The TBS helmet hoses lie on either side of the helmet and wouldn't fit between the bottom of the helmet and the torso like the TVC ones do, and the way the TBS hoses are is more accurate. At least, more accurate to the ESB look, dunno if the mando ones will share that detail since there's clearly more than a few differences in the costume.
>>11709633
Crucify me for this maybe, but I don't care even a little bit about the hips and I have no idea how it could possibly be a dealbreaker for anyone. There's no improvement to the range of motion or kinds of poses you can achieve, it's purely a time-saver, and I'm not out here trying to speed-run posing my figures so I just don't see the appeal. I cannot imagine re-buying all my stormtroopers just to save a few seconds on getting them posed, how many people would seriously do that?

Does this Vader has a little cut in the cape on the back? Mine just arrived and I was wondering.
>>
>>11709865
How does it possibly take you more than a couple extra seconds to pose them, compared to barbell hips? How many stormtroopers are you willing to buy again, at $20 each, that look exactly like the ones you've already bought, solely to get hips that pose slightly more quickly?
>>
>>11709903
it's not really about time, I simply do not want to pose those figures because of how much the hips suck. I am not an army builder anyway and tend to rebuy characters if they receive definitive upgrades. for many people these things are worth it even if you dont care
>>
>>11709915
I recognize that I seem to be the weird one here, as your opinion seems significantly more popular than mine, but I still just do not get it at all. How do the hips suck, in a way that isn't about time? There's no pose you can't achieve with them that barbell hips would allow you to do, and the figure will look exactly the same, so what difference is there other than time spent posing them? The only issue I've ever had with them is that by being an asymmetrical piece they won't pose well if facing the wrong way, but again that just comes down to "take extra time to spin it the right way" and is thus still a time-related issue. Let me put it to you this way, if you were an army builder, would you re-buy 40+ stormtroopers for this one singular change? I can understand having a preference for the barbell hips, but I cannot understand having such a strong preference that I'd be willing to spend 800 dollars or more on it.
