Just so you guys are aware, this is the level of toys McFarlane is releasing for 12 dollars now. And you have to assemble them yourself.
They are in trouble.
And I am not a Matt stan. I'm most likely done with DC after McFarlane. But somehow everything went wrong.

I genuinely don't even know why people like most Blokees products tbqh. I will admit their EVA stuff looks pretty good, but their non mech style figures just look bad tbqh. I mean look at that piece of shit in the OP. I genuinely don't get the love Blokees gets.
>>

Only EB games canada, McFarlane's own store and Walmart picked them up according to the links on mcfarlane.com. Maybe Marvel fans would love it but I dont think many stores are willing to risk it on the NFL. These look like legos for fans of manly men sports.

Still, even if it's the same price, you still get stuff from import sites quicker than BBTS, who has to wait a few weeks after Jap releases at the earliest. Most SHF releases come to BBTS like two months later.

Well not OP but here is what I know about the sites you listed:
Amiami: Didn't tell you what shipping would cost even before the tarriffs, so good luck now, I assume you'll have any even harder time telling what ordering from them would cost now.
Hobby Link Japan: You can see the line of complaints about them >>11696047 plus I have not forgot how they allegedly left people's figures out in the weather when they had too many people using their warehouse feature due to shipping fluctuations during The Apocalypse rather than establishing exact explicit rules and sticking to them.
Nin-Nin-Game: has this shit on their website (pic related) so if they misestimate the shipping cost its on YOU to pay more even though THEY gave YOU the wrong estimate.
No mention of tariffs in their FAQ or shipping options section on their website, so no idea if the shipping includes tariffs or doesn't, so it probably doesn't.
Also weird shit like this: "Approved refund requests for transactions made more than 6 months ago can only be refunded in Japanese Yen. If the transaction was made with a foreign currency, the exchange rate on the day of the transaction will be used for reimbursement in Japanese Yen."
From normal companies, 6 month delays on preorders wouldn't make sense, but with import companies it seems to be happening more and more now
These sites weren't buyer friendly before Orange-kun and they definitely aren't after Orange-kun.
Hobby Genki is the only one that Might be possible to use given this: "USA Shipping Update: Enjoy stress-free delivery with our new FedEx DDP shipping (Tariffs included)." But when I go to put something in a cart I get no estimate of shipping costs. It just says it's "to be paid later", so again, no idea how much the total bill will be to compare vs other sites.
That said BBTS is a shithole as well with their bizarre "tariff not included " garbage which should've gone away long ago as the tariffs have not changed drastically recently.

>Didn't tell you what shipping would cost even before the tarriffs
There ECMS option has tariffs included in the cost. At least they did when I used it a month or two ago.
You can see the line of complaints about them >>11696047 (Cross-thread) plus I have not forgot how they allegedly left people's figures out in the weather when they had too many people using their warehouse feature due to shipping fluctuations during The Apocalypse rather than establishing exact explicit rules and sticking to them.
Most of these complaints are overblown. I haven't had a problem with them in the years I've used them.
>has this shit on their website (pic related) so if they misestimate the shipping cost its on YOU to pay more even though THEY gave YOU the wrong estimate.
Other import sites are like this too. I ordered a figure from Nin Nin before the tariff thing happened, paid them for shipping, but when the figure did release, I had to pay $11 for the tariffs that didn't exist when I originally ordered the figure. Not unreasonable, especially since now their DDP option includes the tariff on stuff paid for after the tariff situation changed.
>No mention of tariffs in their FAQ or shipping options section on their website, so no idea if the shipping includes tariffs or doesn't, so it probably doesn't.
The DDP option literally tells you the tariff fee is included.
>From normal companies, 6 month delays on preorders wouldn't make sense, but with import companies it seems to be happening more and more now
I haven't had a figure delayed on a particular retailer. Only delays I get are the figure itself being delayed on the manufacturer side, meaning it's delayed at every store, even BBTS.
>These sites weren't buyer friendly before Orange-kun and they definitely aren't after Orange-kun.
Literally what? Your own stupidity means they're not buyer friendly? Stop talking about shit you clearly have zero experience in.

The other sites I've mentioned have all added a DDP option that includes the tariff in the shipping cost and you don't have to pay anything after the fact. God damn it dude, you clearly are just making shit up about stuff you clearly don't know anything about. Stop spreading actual misinformation. Do some research, holy shit.

>Most of these complaints are overblown. I haven't had a problem with them in the years I've used them.
That's basically just "works on my machine." I'm not really willing to take a risk on ordering $100+ figures on that.
> Not unreasonable, especially since now their DDP option includes the tariff on stuff paid for after the tariff situation changed.
That is unreasonable since they made the mistake in estimating and so they should own the mistake. I can't comparison shop if they make mistakes.
>The DDP option literally tells you the tariff fee is included.
How am I supposed to see that on Nin Nin when when I look at my cart all I see is the figure price and "Total shipping: US$16.48"
I see nothing about other options without having to get deeper in and make an account, put in payment info, etc.
>Literally what? Your own stupidity means they're not buyer friendly? Stop talking about shit you clearly have zero experience in.
I have experience ordering from the Chinese - 5k and Gundamit, not the Japanese. The Chinese handle it properly except where they say the full price is unknown--in which case either they update it or I don't order. No Tariffs, no bullshit. It's not stupidity to want to see exactly what a preorder is going to cost me at one site so I can go to another and see the same and pick the lowest. The fact you're willing to put up with less is you putting up with bad service.

I literally tried, I went to Nin Nin's FAQs, their shipping sections and NO MENTION OF TARIFFS. How can I do research if they do not provide me the information on how their store handles things until I order? Gundamit flat out says no tariff fee on their website. 5k is the same as they have a US warehouse they ship from. Why can't the Japanese just tell you what it will cost up front when you preorder?
> Japs work off the assumption that their clientele can at least use a website and read.
There is nothing in the shipping options or FAQ at Nin Nin. What am I supposed to read? Please, tell me:

You know that disclaimer is only regarding orders made prior to any changes with tariffs right? Not for in stock orders.
>>11696817
Found the Chink shill. Sorry that you weren't able to figure this shit out on your own but literally thousands, if not millions of other people were able to sort out and get their shipping costs sorted out. This sounds entirely like a (You) issue. Once again, stop talking about shit you've admitted you have no experience with. It's gay.
>>
>>11696825
>The Chinese tell you up front what something will cost so I can order from them

Do you realize how dumb this is? If it was the reverse and the Japanese said what the item would cost, tariffs, shipping and all up front, then I would be shilling for the Japanese instead of the Chinese.

>>11696739
>>11696756
Apparently;
>LPZZ
>- Hush Bats 1/12 pre-orders up (import sites)
>>
>>11696825
I know how they got their shipping sorted out: the same way we all get our shipping sorted out for Japanese preorders. They ordered the figure without really knowing what it would cost to get it to their door, just estimated based on past experience, and they just paid whatever it cost when they shipped it.
I can see how Americans with experience with Amazon, Walmart, and Target which tell you the shipping up front or have free shipping don't like this system.
>>
>>11696828
The only website that doesn't tell you what the price of shipping is on preorder is Amiami. The other sites I listed do. Amiami also doesn't invoice you until they ship and have been more lenient with cancelling pre orders due to extra costs. The only time these websites are changing shipping in existing pre orders is when the tariff situation changed. Chink sites altered their shipping prices too, not sure how they handle pre orders because I don't dare trust a chink with money on something that isn't in stock. You're woefully uninformed. If I could figure this shit out you can too. I believe in you.
>>
>>11696838
Gundamit actually didn't change their shipping on previously made preorders. They made a post about it linked on their website. I know, I had a preorder that dropped after the tariffs began. I was worried what would happen, and I still paid 0.00 shipping--no additional fees or anything--when for newer orders they began changing shipping to up it to a few dollars. That's how you do it. You grandfather in past orders to give the customer priority over your concerns. So the customer doesn't get screwed.
>>
>>11696844
Oh and before someone cries bullshit on a shipping of $0.00, Gundamit had free shipping to the US before the tariffs dropped. I assume the cost was built into the price of the figure, which is how I would prefer it since then I know the cost and can say 'this is too much' or buy it if its a good deal.
>>
>>11696844
The only reason they did that was because, to get around paying fees, they didn't mark the items as made in China. If your package got caught by inspections or something, you can be sure they would've charged you. I can't expect most companies to take that risk, and I don't find it unreasonable that they're adding the tariff fee to previously made orders, I expect as much. Glad you had a great experience witb Gundammit but the rest of the Internet doesn't operate that way.
>>
>>11696847
There was tracking that made it clear the origin was in China. My assumption was, based on their post that they linked to, they were taking the hit on their end to pay the tariffs on previously made preorders. Not that they were mis-marking stuff.

Then clearly, because they were eating the shipping cost originally, they ate whatever the additional fee was as well. Not sure why you're acting so shocked why companies that don't eat the shipping costs arent also eating the tariff fee. Also, not really sure why you're disparaging sites that this board has been using for over a decade. These are all reputable websites that anons have been using for years. Don't know why everyone should immediately discount them just because you're unable to figure out the shipping costs yourself.

>>
>>
>>11696896
They don't need to eat the shipping or tariff fee. All they need to do is when I put a preorder in the cart, they need to have line items saying Item cost: W, Shipping: X, Tariff: Y, Total: Z. Without me having to make an account, put in payment information and all kinds of other steps (other than enter the needed country and state/county for the shipping) when I don't even know if I want to order from the site because the final cost may be through the roof.
I'm just pointing out why those anons are settling for crap, probably because they got in with these sites a decade ago when others told them about the huge upsides at that time that are now mostly gone. Thus they can estimate on their own how big the costs will be from past experiences in the cases where they put stuff in the warehouses and don't know what shipping will be until the day they ship it. And they already have the accounts made, the payment info entered, etc. But now that the costs have gotten worse, saving 5-10 bucks over a retailer that ships from the US isn't even worth shopping around and putting up with the worries of international shipping.
>>
>>
>>11696917
Should've waited on Ice, she is available at a few places still and thus may go on sale. She's a mainline DCMV release so she has a higher production run that may not be justified by her popularity. I would've waited for a sale. Especially since she's just reusing that horrible movie Catwoman body
>>
>>11696932
Do you think I trust /toy/ when their response to me questioning their golden gods' effectiveness for ordering figures is to post profanity laced tirades like you just did? There really is, I guess, no defense of those sites. Because they just don't offer what I am asking for, despite the fact that many other toy sites already do. There is no ease of use or new customer friendly quick list of what ordering the figure will cost in total. Nin-Nin won't even cater to US customers enough to mention Tariffs in their FAQ.
A lot of it is probably because these are Japanese first sites. They don't really care if US customers order off them, it's a secondary concern. They'll make a method but they won't take the time to make it easy--and why would they anyway? They don't want you easily shopping around and comparing prices. They want you to just happen upon their site and order from them without considering competitors' prices.

Gamestop is literally acknowledging they are going to send you a random item when you order a McFarlane CE rather than necessarily what you order:

>Don't like it, stop buying.
I didn't.
They did not actually put that disclaimer up for the longest time and most stores that sell McFarlanes don't. Also the disclaimer is still not adequately addressing the problem. If they send you a chase, you are getting something DIFFERENT than what you ordered. The Buy Now is for a picture of the standard edition. There should be no "chase variant" or it should be a different listing so people get what they order. If I order a case of Regular Coca Cola I want a case of Regular Coca Cola. I don't want a case of Coca Cola with Vanilla.
>>11697074
>Really doesn't seem too different than bbts grabbing out the platinum figures and changing $10 more than MSRP.
It's entirely different. With BBTS I control what I get. If I order standard I will get standard. I don't waste $35 on something I don't want. If I order from anywhere else I might get some weird variant I dont want.
>>
>>11697094
It's implicit with chases and variants that you may not get the exact one you wanted. This has been the case for forever. You either deal with it or you don't buy it.

Not really. I don't like his articulation scheme for figures, the house style he uses, and most of his business practices so I don't buy his toys. I have maybe 7 or 8 McFarlane figures that I've purchased in as many years.

When you buy a baseball card pack you are not given pictures of the card you will get. You are given a picture of the pack. What you are getting is what is advertised.

It makes me laugh how you supposedly spend all this time "researching" and you can't even list the standard import sites that this board has been using for over a decade. Also why make so many hands when they are almost all identical and four practically are just two sets of duplicates - it makes sense with a face to have the same face but a resting mouth and a smiling mouth, but with hands, it's pointless.
At best, that second row might be - what? A hand shaking set? I'd rather have one more other accessory - hands for Lois, a note pad for her, a purse, something else?

There was an 89 Two-Face figure, along with an 89 Commissioner Gordon, and an 89 Robin for sure. I think there were possibly a few others characters from the movie and comic. There's also a Batmissile from Batman Returns and there may be a single carded version of Alfred.
Some past leaks included a Joker variant, Vicki Vale, and Bob the Goon, buy those leaks were supposedly canceled figures back when McFarlane was trying to make a Nicholson Joker who looked just enough like Nicholson without having to pay him $1 million for the likeness.

NTA you been arguing with but he's right about the blind box aspect of something like the trading cards, which is disingenuous of you to bring up. McFarlane's DCMV aren't a blind box item.
>>11697100
>It's implicit with chases and variants
Not sure if you are the same person, but it's clear that eCommerce sellers, with McFarlane, have become aware that this is a problem, with unhappy customers. I'm the person who was chasing down the Page Puncher Brainiac robot months ago and posted about paying for the regular and being sent the chase. Not sure why the first guy had a problem, I returned one I bought from GameStop, I had to do it in store, and I had to do it within 15 days. I can't remember if they gave me store credit, which they might have, but I buy shit from them regularly so wouldn't have cared. Walmart took it back and all I had to do was drop off the thing at a FedEx office. That, I know, went back to my card.
But if it's something anyone is swallowing, you are buying from the wrong sellers, or you are stupid people who get what you deserve.
>>11697019
They changed that on some newer figures when it became a problem, as I wrote above, with too many returns. It's the same problem Amazon has, which is why they now add that "frequently returned" tag - which I am sure Todd McFarlane can't be too happy about.
But not sure why you are complaining either, GameStop will take returns up to 15 days. If you have no stores near you, you should just not buy from GameStop. It's not worth all this back and forth typing you two engaged in for an entire day.
No piece of plastic Chinese junk is worth this waste of energy and sanity.

It's weird he is still doing Platinums the way he does if he isn't happy about that. There is an obvious solution: Make standard only boxes to send to online retail, make standard+platinum boxes to send to physical retail and if some online retailer like BBTS wants to order the standard+platinum boxes, let them. But don't give it to Amazon.

I've been thinking about this and I have no idea how in gods name a "Jokerized" repainted character could ever look good from any company. I almost wanted to agree with you because purple and green almost always do look good together. I love Devastator in Transformers, and fucking Eva units. So I don't know why I hate this so much. Maybe it's the white makeup and lipstick always ruins it? But even then Harley Quinn looks bad too and I can't explain why. Maybe if it was better colors?
The only way I could see it working is if it wasn't repaints and they actually made new designs. But that would defeat the whole purpose and require effort and money. They can't even resculpt a smile. Ite always a neutral face or grimace which is just fucking stupid because the whole point of the Joker gas was MAKING YOU LAUGH. Who the fuck is responsible for this idea? Was there a zero patient? I know everyone probably does but I just fucking am a newfag and processing how retarded these are. A bunch of boomers who wanted a 'Silver Age' Superman and hate Todd's shit with the black line around the S-Shield, bought his jokerized Superman to swap the bodies and hands and have what they consider their "perfect" McFarlane toy. It just took two purchases, in typical fashion for a DCMV figure, which is great, as opposed to the people having to take hands from one, a head from another, a body from a third, having to add a wire cape, and still touch up some paint.
Don't get me wrong. Jokerized garbage is just cheap, filthy repaint wasted plastic from Todd and you are exactly correct - most of it doesn't sell - at MSRP.

I think they are mad at him because he posts about figures he has bought that they would like to buy if the figures were say 10 bucks less. But due to McFarlane Toys being a scalper-friendly organization, it isn't possible to get any desirable figure from them for under MSRP. So basically they just do without. And I kind of agree that McFarlanes just are not worth say 27 bucks unless you aren't really looking at that and just have money to waste.

I saw the Page Puncher Hal in two Targets last week, and at one GameStop on Monday.
Like the face/head sculpt. When someone breaks the toy up for parts and slaps his head on eBay for say $12, I'll snap one up.
But another entire greasy mcfart? Nah.
I own plenty of DCMV, but for someone reason, in all these years, I've missed buying a single DCMV Lantern.
And since I'm downsize my McFarts this year to three characters/families, that's better.
I was going to get this other Hal, cuz I liked that hair on him but I'll probably just snag that head as well.
Not sure what for since both heads are masked but they will look great on say some NECA Ash or other civilian body I get for cheap, as a cosplay civilian, or maybe I'll repaint a McFart Batbuck I can't unload, just repainted.
I'll put an upside down GL logo over the BM symbol, then spray paint that BM body buck with metallic gold paint and call it a McFarlane Golden Patina Pressed Latinum Edition Collector's Club Exclusive.

I think Death Metal Batman is the definitive way to do an Edgy Batman. Spikes on the gauntlets, a spiked trench coat with the outlines of bat wings folding out from it, and chains. Lots of little details. Even hidden thigh cuts (not the top hip swivel) which most McFarlanes do not get. I actually don't like Absolute Batman's design at all even if the comic is interesting. He's too beefy to read as Batman to me, so I prefer DM as an edgy take.
Death Metal Wonder Woman is a great sculpt, if limited in articulation to achieve it. She looks very good besides the arms which really highlight the pins.
I liked how Duke Thomas turned out as well even though he pegwarmed. Looks pretty much just like the comic with a lot of weight to him and the cape, but of course that limits posability as well. He won't get much in the way of dynamic poses without an extremely trustworthy flight stand but can get "cool" poses.
There's also some stand out figures not from Death Metal but also with edginess like Abyss and Ghost-Maker who tend to be better on the articulation front. Although the X eyes on Abyss are just too far into zoomer design territory for me, but that's part of the design. I like the rest. He also has the MK knee cuts to allow for swivels above the knees for better posing than a lot of other McFarlanes get.

>>11700328
Robin King was an intelligent reuse of another Damien Robin they made. Different enough in look and feel along with new parts to not feel like bad reuse. Single jointed knees and elbows though, but looking past that major issue was an acceptable way for them to get more from their molds which they typically didn't do back in that era beyond bronze or other "generic repaint" territory. I actually have both and didn't mind it, although I did get both on sale for quite a bit off as I wasn't going to buy small single knee/elbow figures for much.

We could always see the flaws in Power Girl. She was just too tall and the knee and bicep cuts are badly done just like WW CE before her.
Also I'd say Steph was the last peak. They did most things right with that figure even with the reuse.
>>
>>11700340
As far as repaints go it is disappointing to see how much of a figure will be reused at times. I'm not sure where mister miracle came parts wise but I'm willing to guess he is made up of mostly deadman and/or red tornado. Another favorite of mine is Captain Atom, once again I'm not sure what's parts are reused but it has to be close to 90% reuse.

So this red-haired head on say the Harrison Ford, Professor Indiana Jones body - plausible Jimmy Olsen or is the face not friendly and innocent enough for a Jimmy?
https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/234029
And besides Matt Murdoch, what would you use this red headed head for if not Jimmy? I don't care about Roy enough to make an unmasked civilian of him. And Ralph has plenty of unmasked heads floating around. And it's definitely too serious for even an older, married with Linda, raising two pre-teens Wally.
I ended up with two complete sets of this Joe. The Hasbro body I really want to harvest for Jimmy is the Club Obi Wan suit but it's not worth scalper prices since it's not say, a full-on white tux, with a red cummerbund and a red bow tie.

I'll posting on B/S/T when I am ready to start unloading some shit, probably not till March or April, before I try to list on eBay. But if you are near a Target, they have them on clearance, you just have to find a Target that has it in stock is the problem I had. It took going to the next county over, which if you're in say St. Louis or Nashville, isn't an issue. If you're in Burmingham or El Paso and the next county Target is a 3 hour drive on the highway, well.

Hey DC Gen - why doesn't anyone sell DC on B/S/T - too attached to their McFarts?
I have tons of shit I want to dump, but even NEW of any kind, MIB/MOC (Mattel, McFarlane, DC Direct) never gets posted. Once in a blue moon, there's a Mafex or Mezco. I think I saw that Muff Protector once six months ago.
And I don't think people from /toys/ are interested in loose/used figures unless they are very, very rare or imports? I guess you all know each other too well and know what others like you truly do to your toys.

This is a really cool project. I've thought about picking up the Silver Age Jimmy and Perry out there but Superman goes public domain in a few years and I'm betting someone will make a line of supporting generic reporter and mad scientist type characters. Or in a few years AI will let me just tell it what kind of figures I want, it'll make a 3D file, and I can either print it myself or pay someone on etsy to make it.
I used a Batwoman Unmasked head and Diamond Select Scully body for my Lois. The diorama is all foam and cardboard, and the tiny buildings are like 1/1000 scale skyscrapers I found on Amazon. There's a version of that Scully body that actually comes with her desk but it was like $80 at the time, thought it looks like there's one on ebay for $60 right now. She isn't great but there aren't a lot of options out there when it comes to generic or office female bodies.
There was a huge Superman movie that came out last summer and like five toy companies made figures, we got Metamorpho and the Hammer of Boravia and Baby Joey, but never got Lois so I'm pretty skeptical we'll ever get Daily Planet characters unless it's in some kind of deluxe scalper's bundle.

I've always attributed mainly eastern figures being sold on the BST due to non-fan/casualfag/Flavor of the Month weeaboos and general poorfaggotry.
Weeaboos just buy whatever is the newest toy from their favorite Japanese company and then want to get rid of it to afford their newest toy coming out the next month.
It's pretty rare to see an actual fan sell something and it usually seems to be an emergency thing, since they dump entire teams/armies from XMen, Star Wars, Justice League, GI Joe, etc. instead of random, unrelated figures.
In general, western toy companies don't appear as often as japanese brands in the BST.
It's been this way since the BST first started.

People are also pissed with what's released. I didn't realize the Page Puncher is just a so-so repaint of the first Jay they released, what five years ago? The face sculpt is even the same so they didn't do that old face like they did for Earth 1 Superman or the graying temples like they did for Authority or KC Superman.
I was thinking about buying it but I also snagged a NIB First Appearance Jay from DC Direct for less than half a Walmart McFart that - even if I can't stand him next to any DCMVs or put him in all sorts of articulated positions, looks way better. I have several DCD Barry's I can pose him next to where they will scale nicely.

I don't buy Todd's slop. I would love for a Marvel Legends style line for DC toys, but alas, with Mattel getting the license, it looks like I'll still be waiting. I collect mainly Mafex, and mostly Bat-centric stuff. I do have some other DC related characters, I have some Superman stuff, and I do have a Justice League lineup to go with my Mafex Bats and Supes in the form of DC Icons. But they're really starting to feel old now in comparison to modern figures. It would be nice if Mattel stuff was of a high enough quality to mix and match with Mafex a bit better, but I won't hold my breath. I'll just be slowly collecting the stuff Mafex puts out. We're getting close to me being satisfied with their Bat offerings, just a handful of villains more like Penguin, Two Face, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, and Clayface, and I'll be happy there. And then we need more Bat supporting characters which we seem to be getting at least in the form of Barbara Gordon Batgirl, Tim Drake, and the rumored Damian. But we need a Red Hood Jason Todd, the alt head for Hush doesn't cut it, even if Under the Red Hood retconned it to Jason actually fighting Bruce in Hush before switching with Clayface. We need a Cassie Cain Batgirl, a Stephanie Brown Spoiler, a Batwoman, a fucking decent Alfred, a Commissioner Gordon. I know we'll eventually get most of these, but the wait sucks.

I actually do have a number of Revoltechs, the only ones that interested me on the DC side were Flash and Deathstroke though. Bats and Supes are in their New 52 outfits, and Wondy looks alright, but I'd really prefer a more classic look than the Rebirth look. Flash looks really good though and I am kind of kicking myself for skipping him, but I think AYs stylized look would clash too hard with Mafex. Deathstroke I think would've faired a bit better.
Oh wait, I just remembered I have the blonde Harley they did. Really nice figure except for the paint cracking issue that particular version had.

The BST is slower than before, but despite that, they still basically sell the same types of toys.
Even in the early 10s, you had to wait a while for anyone to put anything from DCUC up on there
BTW, when did you get your DCUC figures? A little after the DCUC line died or when Mattel lost the license? I can imagine someone rage quitting a line when that happens. People seem to be that way.

I have more bat than I should but I plan to get rid of a lot of it this year.
I definitely have more Green Lantern than Batwank.
Hell, I have more female DC action figures than I have Batman figs.

If you haven't noticed, a lot of the shitposters don't collect toys the subject is about. They're usually brand fanboys, so they see it as their duty to attack other brands.
If you ever look at what gets deleted on this board, some of them like to samefag too. There's certain shitposters who believe that if more than one person has the same opinion, that makes them correct. So sometimes you see arguments going on and two replies to one posts get deleted, despite other replies being left alone. Almost always, one of those replies is a low effort disagreement, while the "main" reply is caustic.
So the caustic reply gets that person banned and the rest of their posts get deleted all at once. So it's pretty easy to track that they samefag and even what other threads they post in.
I'm sure there's bitter fanboys, but they generally just post once in a blue moon.

You're a good man. You reminded me how often people would offer up middle manning lines back in the day. /toy/ used to have such a bro community. Lots of well meaning people and it's no wonder that free toy box thread was so popular.

>/toy/ used to have such a bro community.
There's a little bit of that still. Did /toy/ Secret Santa again last December and let me tell you, it's a bitch wanting DC toys from that crowd.
But this year some anon, instead of buying me 1 or 2 things (he did, since you had to), actually unloaded some of what were clearly used things that most assholes would have complained about because they weren't NEW, weren't MINT IN BOX.
Everything was nicely wrapped and while some of it wasn't stuff I'd buy for myself (import KO Batman), a lot of it was totally up my wheelhouse.
I built a lot of my DC Direct by buying it second hand and used; not always used but some horribly yellowed clam shells or trashed card backs and clam shells. PICREL was the robot and beppo in mint condition but a damaged clam shell for $20.

I have noticed, especially in this thread, how sometimes it can feel more like it's about the brand than the IP, which should never be the case. Sometimes this thread feels like McFarlane general, I know the guy who posts his Mafex's gets shit on for whatever reason, and he's like the only one who doesn't collect McFarlane stuff around here. Like, if you want to exclusively discuss McFarlane, make a McFarlane general, other companies make DC toys you know.

Marvel Legends is just that with the pretense that they post about, really, Basic Bitch import lines. For example, the Spidey and Friends Blokees have been out for almost two years now and it's barely brought up.
But to be fair, it's not like we ever talk about say LEGO DC. And if someone brings up SpinMaster, it's treated as a joke, like the guys posting the Imagine Next play sets, except that just like the Playmobil dad buying castles for his daughter and playing with her, some adult collectors can get into that shit.
I own like 1-2 heroclix like I own a few Edgemonts because those are the only versions we will likely ever get of a character, even deeper dives than the ones assholes here are complaining "who wants this," like Ralph in his fucking JLE costume.

I didn't realize many still collect mcfarlane here given how much anger there is at the DCMV line now. Blind boxes, platinums, red platinums, scalper loving behavior, talking about how horrible the articulation is and how improper the reuse is. We even have posters who talk about what figures they need before they will be "free" from McFarlane. I don't think McFarlane is exactly beloved here. It's just the only "collector quality" line that also has a lot of releases in town right now.
Mafex might be getting close to building a Batman world with but it isnt quite there yet. Also if you dont like the Hush looks well...that's the only option on offer from them.

If you go outside the confined, walled garden of 4chan, there are people still w̶a̶s̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶ spending their hard earned dollars on Todd's shit.
PICREL is someone posting all four walls with stuff and this is what was in their closet and that's not even probably top 50 of the worse posted, fucking proudly.

Marvel Legends are the loveliest peak of toy achievement but the Marvel General also is full of coverage of other great NON-SUCKS toys like this one, right?

Lego has it's own thread(s). Other Marvel figures are posted in the Marvel General and people don't get pissy about it like they do here. Stop letting Marvel Legends live in your head rent free you sped.

that is actually nice
I was just thinking the other day about how if you get a gift it HAS to be new, because the other person probably doesn't know much about what you're interested in and they won't invest any time to actually search for old shit. For the past few years, I've been buying up old shit that I've missed out on, because a lot of the new stuff is so lacking (modern stories/designs being mostly trash).
And with old shit, sometimes you're kinda forced to buy whatever is actually out there... including bent out of shape clam shells or opened product.
So if someone actually gave me some old shit from their actual colection, loose in some plastic baggie, i'd be overjoyed. Another collector actually had to part ways with something he liked and you get something you wanted. Much more thoughtful than whatever is current in stores.
>>11703548
If people are ignoring lines like Blokees, who cares? there's a lot of lines that are rarely ever discussed on /toy/. And indifference is better than it being constantly shit on.
IF someone tries to "force" an unpopular toyline into a thread, it can seem like shilling, btw. Bringing up some random line once a thread is fine, but if someone constantly brings it up with next to zero replies, it can be annoying.
I've seen the Blokees get its own thread and that's fine for it to be seperate, because even if it's Marvel/DC related, it obviously wasn't getting discussed in the DC/Marvel General.
See pic? It had its fans, but got zero traction in the Generals that it got toys for (a lot: aliens, street fighter, tmnt, dc, godzilla, halo, etc). Even Minimates getting its own General petered out. So if people don't want to talk about it... just accept the apathy.

It's the same on every Mattel figure from back then unfortunately so I'm not sure why you're singling Scarecrow out. If DC Direct had open hands or were easier to find I'd have went with that. Actually je wasn't even what I wanted. I just wanted the Flash but the store has a bunch of other shit and I got really fucking nostalgic for lantern shit for some reason.

they were completely outclassed even when they were new. they had their charm tho..4H sculpting, deep cut character selection, and a bright, Super Powers-esque aesthetic. I liked them plenty even though I knew they sucked as articulated figures.
>>
>>11703605
>photogenic
The page punchers are interesting and they are actually just as upgrade of the really great era of DC Direct, and those clam shells from them came apart and you could play with the figures, display them loose, and then put them back to store or nail on your wall like many other mint on card collectors. The only real 'upgrade' McFarlane made was comic books no one reads or wants. His boxes are only bigger versions of Mattel's last few years of DC and only oversized compared to Marvel Legends and Black Series.
Retail stores will probably be overjoyed at the return of the peg wall space.

detail doesn't cost money. Hiring quality talent to make that detail look good does cost money though and that detail can make the figure look too unique, but detail in itself is cheap.
Articulation does require more money though, because each seperate piece to mold costs $$$.
>>11703869
Mattel went with those style hips becuse it's cheaper to produce. See how many pieces are used in the Toy Biz hips here? Imagine how long it takes for someone to assemble them. Hasbro's hips also requires more pieces.
Mattel cheaps way the fuck out and they used it that style of engineering for so long because even if another method can be cheaper, it would requires retooling/retraining the factory (+ creating new molds), which is more money they didn't want to spend.

The legends of batman toys may as well be statues. Even more so than other 5pao Batman tohs. Ironically they were probably trying to do Batman but Spawn which is funny in retrospect. I have no fucking idea how I played with them as kids. I guess it was the insane wing gimmicks. I need to get the rogues gallery because the designs are amazing. And if there's tons of detail on Batman too.

The stuff you mentioned is why I still love them but I totally agree. I was so disappointed when 4H left and ended up doing very realistic fantasy and scifi toys
. They look amazing but I prefer bright colorful and/or out there shit pic related.

I owned four of those, two still boxed, but traded away the green armour Lex for a Prime and then ended up with that boxed Prime and 3-4 MORE loose because they were so cheap ($5 for one when I wanted the head and would have paid $6-7.99 for just a head).
>>11703664
Only the cult garbage is really garbage and those aren't even Todd's design to be fair to the man, the rest are MEH so in some ways you are being harsher and in many you are being kinder.

Was one of those, glad to help. I put your weapons on my wish list but think I will wait till they go on sale, though I do check to see if they are selling out. I have a pile of loot going right now but its still got 6+ more weeks and there's nothing there I'm in any rush for. The two things I wanted I just ordered from someplace else and will just cancel my loot crap for the store credit. Its not like that credit won't get spent, I have like $1K worth of shit on the wish list there.
