So there's no news to report currently, how many waves do you think McFarlane has left before summer? Are there any plans for the super friends series or did it just quietly end like the super powers series?
What would you do if you were in McFarlane Toys's position right now? swing for the fences and try to leave a favorable memory (which would probably just piss off most people some how) or do some reprints of in demand figures like Jim balents catwoman or cyborg superman etc or maybe some sort of box set diorama of an iconic scene from DC history? Or just kinda ignore it and start typing up the UFC and the sports based figures instead of acknowledging that the license has expired?

>gave me some old shit from their actual colection, loose in some plastic baggie,
Don't misunderstand me or maybe I wasn't clear? Some of the stuff was not packaged, meaning not in the factory card or box it might have originally come in. Nothing was in plastic baggies. Everything look well maintained and cared for. Some things were in open boxes, the same way you would probably boy an unsealed boxed item from B/S/T I would imagine. For all I know, they were things he bought and didn't like and couldn't easily return (the imports) or maybe they were gifts he didn't like and was regifting.
Nothing was THRIFT STORE looking. For the Secret Santa thing, you only need to buy something that costs $40 or like one of McFarlane's Plat and say a Funko Pop to hit $40 (before taxes or shipping). He definitely did that for me and then some.

Toy lines almost always go out with a whimper because they know that from a financial standpoint there's no point in investing in a property you won't have in a year. If it were me I'd just reissue many of the high demand rare figures so people who want them can get them. it probably would sell well too if there's still an audience for the line.

He's been insanely assmad about my Hush Batman figure for like five years now. I guess since I don't post here as much anymore the resident schizo needed someone else to obsess over.
Lucky you.
>>

>>11704326
i figured as much, but even in the worst case scenerio of just a loose figure, i'd more than appreciate getting an older complete figure (baggie keeping all the accessories together). Something kept by a collector should be in great condition vs some kid losing all its accessories and having paint scrap everywhere...though some lines are next to impossible to keep mint out of package.
Personally, i don't keep packaging for 90% of my stuff unless it has some nice art. So import packaging gets trashed, since it's mostly just just pictutes of the toy i own. Same with McFarlane.
I USED to keep Marvel Legends and GI Joe packaging, but MLs started greying out their art or obscuring it, so i stopped. GI Joe gets a lot of shit art now, so i'm picky there.
Most of my accessories go into organizer boxes and my memory is pretty good on what goes with what. It's about as easy as remembering their name. Finding where it is though... now that's a bit harder.

Looks like some of last years absurd nonsense prices on McFarts on the secondary market are down. The spike jacket Kon sold twice today for $24 +$SH and $29 (boxed) +$SH. I never look for shit like that Spectre so no clue but the Dick Bats is one of the few things keeping its value but it never sold for $100+ like some fools wasted on that Kon-el. I still laugh at the people stuck with those Patina Superboy Primes, and those convention Barfed Painted 85th anniversary figures.

Opened Bats yesterday and I like him so much more than the black and yellow 3-Jokers Batman. Way easier to pose due to the fabric cape and the proportions are a thousand times better, plus the head is almost perfect. Surprised about the symbol not looking too big in person. And the entire costume is actually black instead of having dark purple parts like the 3-Jokers Bats
Will say that I wish the cape were wired but there's always something with Todd

My Justice League is complete. The new Grant Morrison Flash is due to arrive at the end of the month. After that, I'll only contemplate getting the Martian Manhunter if he has a fabric cape along with the classic yellow-symbol Shazam
>>11704469
Nice roster. You should get some flights stands off of Aliexpress to pose the figures properly. Having too many figures in idle poses tends to lessen the look of the collection
>>
>>
>>
>>11704628
Yeah, I know about the included holes and will probably try it out in the future. Still annoying that a wired cape was clearly planned given the holes are there but scrapped, probably to save costs. I doubt that it will solve the cape looking weird in the shoulder area but it should suffice.
The worst part is that Todd removes features collectors actually welcomed for once

Here's mine. The Icons guys are definitely starting to feel their age. It'd be nice if Mattel stuff was good enough to mix in with Mafex but I won't hold my breath. But with the announcement that Medicom is going to start doing For Tomorrow figures, we could eventually get a JLA from them through that avenu since the team appears in that story.

Icons have great sculpts and accessories but yeah, they unfortunately look a bit dated at this point. Interesting to see how well they scale with Mafex Batman and Superman though
>>
>>11704869
Yeah Icons scale nicley with Mafex so that's how I've padded out my DC roster a bit. Still, they're getting pretty dated and I'd love more classic costumes. I tolerate the Rebirth looks because they're not terrible, but I would really prefer more classic style costumes. I'd even tolerate the early to mid 2000s stuff since that strayed more towards the classic looks too. Marvel was doing something kinda similar at the time, man weird to think I miss 2004.

Never even heard that theory. Why would they be colliding when there's at least a 12 month release difference between figures? It's much more logical for it to be a cost-related decision. They just know people like us will just buy the figures anyway

>Why would they be colliding when there's at least a 12 month release difference between figures?
It's nothing to do with colliding or overlapping. Just that people who buy the wired cape McFarlanes now will be less likely to buy the unwired Mattels. I know now that I have wired cape Supes, Bats and others, there really is no reason for me to go to Mattel unless they also have wires and other advantages as well.
Do what you must, Mattel, I have already won.

>The BST is slower than before,
Jeez travel for a super bowl and y'all have a meltie.
I don't want to get into a back and forth, especially so many days afterwords, but isn't it really slow, like so much of the board, because of the auto-sage?
The DC threads move quickly just like LEGO and a few others because it's stupid arguing, shit posting, cat fights and imbecilic idiocy.
If that stops happening to a thread, it just sinks and isn't busy. Look at Mythic Legions.
>>
>>11705847
People post their DC figures all the time though, so it'd be moderately busy if only people who own DC anything (comics, toys) posted here. In fact, if there weren't so many shitposters shitting on anything McFarlane, there'd probably be more people posting their toys.
Mythic Legion is genuinely a dead topic, hence needing to merge with fantasy general. Most people who even post their pictures there arent even posting Mythic Legions and even then, not a lot of people are posting there.
Anyway, i think most of /toy/ is slower than before.... except for DC General. DC before Mattel lost the license was basically a once a quarter thread that got 80 posts. After Mattel lost the license, it became almost as popular as the Marvel General (if not more popular, thanks to shitposters just wanting to argue about anything).
>>
>>
>>11705890
Nah, Mythic Legion's death pretty much happened straight after 4H created a video shitting on people who were having a problem with the latest batch of figures having air pockets.
Big drama in Feb 2024 and then the General died straight afterward, because nobody was posting in them anymore apart from the biggest shills.
Mythic Legion was already dying before, going from 100-80 unique IPs from 2015-2019 and then having around 40 unique IPs in 2020 til 2024, but it's hard to pinpoint why it suddenly dropped off. There were years of awful QC (brittle plastics, paint issues, bad customer service), but did so many people suddenly drop out? I admit, i dropped the line in 2020 due to another figure breaking on me and no longer regulary went to the General, so maybe other people started doing the same shit as me too.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11705916
Right - Mythic Legion was a new thread noticed simply because figure photography for the thread was interesting
When I went to look for it again, had already dropped to middle of the catalogue.
Point could been made using PBG/Fake Lego thread or using new DBZ thread.
Especially since everyone talking about Lee or how manga beats up western comic books and eats their lunch.
Apparently even 4chan doesn't care about DBZ toys - huh.

I've suspected for a long time that whoever's in charge of approving designs is hella faggot. All the women always look like men and the men all look like twinks. Doll capes were my first clue, as no straight man or serious collector would want fabric doll capes that'll fray and collect dust when a thick, solid plastic cape was perfect. Remember that phase where everyone had lipstick? Also, the biggest tell is how the line has responded to criticism. Instead of making improvements and incorporating feedback into products McFarlane only doubled down on the annoying bullshit they were pulling like artificial scarcity or the Zatanna headsculpts issue with the good head being on a botched body and a botched head on a good body forcing you to buy both, ultimately leading to them losing the license and everyone hating their annoying ass. This behavior is something only women and faggots do as men will try to find a peaceable middle ground.

It's not that it bugs me, it's the fact that if your toy sees little use, of course you're going to think it's fine.
People who play with they're toys are going to have problems pop up waaaaaaay faster with cloth capes than they will with a plastic cape.
I have a pretty big collection of Mezco figures and i have to dust that shit regularly or else it'll stain. And that dusting does wear away at the cloth, btw. I have military dolls from the early 00s and they're showing their age.
So at 15 years, I really doubt your cloth cape is holding up as good as an all plastic figure does.
What figure are you even talking anyway? Some Hot Toys? Because 15 years ago, most cloth stuff was pretty shit. Like really really shit if it wasn't 1:6 scale.

How fucking retarded do you have to be for your cloth capes to break apart? Seriously, you negative faggots will never cease to amaze me with how terrible you are at handling some goddamn toys. I've had toys from the 80s and 90s with cloth capes that were in great condition despite my playing the fuck out of them as a kid.
The guy above is right, if you don't behave like a literal ape or do basic photography with your toys, the cloth capes will be more than fine.
Also, I just LOVE how not a single word is said about plastic capes looking like fucking dogshit 90% of the time. Since when has this board resorted to being so contrarian when it comes to aesthetics of figures? If the cape cannot be posed, the figure in itself is too static looking, period.
It's also amusing to see motherfuckers act like there's not different quality levels to capes but you do you. You will never get out of your negative thinking hole no matter how hard you try. What a terrible life that must be

>>
>>
>>
>>11706545
2014 was 12 years ago actually. Which is when I got NECA Batman. The cape was always thin and shitty, time did nothing to it. I got Mezco TDKR Batman a year later. Both capes look fine. >when they look like shit like >>11706299(You) i definitely prefer the plastic cape over cloth ... which is in 99% of cases.

I'm not though. I just don't understand how someone can prefer plastic capes, I was just replying to the guy.
>I like how you think playing with toys is a bad thing, especially on a /toy/ board.
Where did I say that? I just don't do it. You guys really go out of your way to find things to get mad at.
>>
>>11706545
Again, I had 20 year old toys I played with as a kid which were fine. I was always careful not to get stains on them but otherwise, they were used quite a lot. It may be true that some of Mezco's capes are crap, especially when using leather, but to say that all capes are bad and will turn to dust is disingenuous and I am sure you know that yourself.
Staying on topic, I see no issue with the capes of my McFarlane Silver Age Superman's and Dr. Fate's wired capes having issues in the future because the materials seem to be on the sturdy side.
>>11706566
I can see a minority prefering plastic capes because they offer another/smoother look. When one fails to mention the practical use being shitty though is when it feels like someone is trolling.

>>
>>11706238
>this argument again
We already know Todd McFarlane thinks collectors, those who will pay and continue to pay, will not buy action figures of females.
The sad fact is that he's at least somewhat correct about this. But some of that is ugly figures as you and others are pointing out. Some of that is not the manufacturer's fault. Metamorpho, in addition to not having the Kryptonite hand accessory, is in an ugly ass variation of his classical look - and that ugly costuming is on Gunn and his staff.
The woman who did that and also to the other great peg warmer, the Spin Master Engineer outfit, is the same one who worked with Gunn on Guardian. Since some of those females new to the cast in GGv2 and v3 weren't disgustingly awful, you have to assume the awfulness is actually all on James Gunn.

Nothing I've said has contradicted that post. I take my toys off the shelf to do photography, and sometimes fiddle with them while wathcing TV. But that's the extent of it really. I don't go outside and play with my toys in my backyard.

At first I couldn't even tell that was a McFarlane due to that wash rather than just plain ol plastic. Really I can't believe it costs them money to do washes. Just dunk the thing in a vat of paint and dry it off and you're done. Should cost like 10 cents.

Given Max Hulk's legacy, Max Thor's cape may do so, but McFarlanes are built to be thrown against the walls and take shelf dives. Their cloth is made out of the finest basketball gym short leftovers and strange alien nylon material in the case of Batman. As long as they aren't aggressively manhandled, they should last for some time.

Damian is a tad short compared to Mafex figs, but at the same time Jon Kent, who came in the same pack is a bit taller and scales better. But in the same breath, Damian is supposed to be short for his age during early Rebirth era, however after he switched to the hideous grey costume they started drawing him taller.

New kids batmobile.
Its modular with 5mm pegs. They mention if will be part of the Bat-Link system so I imagine more vehiclea will be released that you can swap parts with but it's not confirmed so I might be talking or my ass. It reminds me of all the dumb Batman backpacks I had as a kid and I love modular toys. Design is kinda meh though I can see people hating it. If the rest of the shit and price and modularity is good I might collect them.

shut up in what way?
95% chance that Mattel finally showing off the figures will disappoint everyone and anger DC fanboys for at least a year.
Then /toy/ will likely return to the 2008-2019 era, where the DC General gets created once every 4 months and gets 50 posts, because Mattel makes shitty products that no one cares to even rage about.

It's annoying and tiresome, but you asshole will still be here next spring and summer, every day, shitting up this general in what ever form it takes or it exists, and constantly hounding this board like an unwanted neighbor who overstayed their welcome.

... so you're saying that /toy/ is no longer what it was from 2008-2019?
I mean, McFarlane gets a lot of hate because there's some trolls who just want to shitpost just because it's McFarlane, but AFAIK, there's no trolls like that for Mattel.
So i think whatever happens with Mattel will be mostly reliant on whatever Mattel produces and if Mattel continues being like Mattel, no one will give a shit about whatever Mattel releases after their first year.
Aside from their homoerotic musclemen, Mattel releases the most forgettable shit and /toy/ tends to overlook shit that looks like its meant for kids like pic related. Again, there's a reason why we had maybe one thread every season for the DC stuff back when Mattel had the license. And most of the time, the only toys that /toy/ talked about in those threads were DC Direct stuff.

They've done a handful of different variants.
There's a standard TNBA version from the 1st wave. Later on they did a standard BTAS version. They reissued that one with a ton of accessories in "Batman Expressions." Then they recolored the TNBA one in black without the cape from some episode. Then they did a BTAS one with a cloth cape that I think came with the Bat Signal so it could sit in the Batmobile. Then they did _another_ with extra articulation in the hips so it could ride the Batcycle. There's another that's supposed to be a HARDAC clone that uses the new hips but has robot parts visible. Then there was one in a premium priced Justice League wave (see >>11707491) that you had to be a subscriber to HBO Max to even order. Then McFarlane reissued a few of them - TNBA and HARDAC for sure but possibly others (dunno because the cel-shading on the BTAS-themed reissues is hideous so I stopped watching that line).

Let me dumb down my post for you, since I know that the education system has been pretty shit since the 00s and third worlders have taken over this board:
All the lines I mentioned in my posts are children's toylines. What Mattel has shown off is a BUDGET children's toyline, meant for poorfags who can't afford the children's toylines that /toy/ likes to talk about.
See pic in >>11710988 ? See the smaller, lower price point Transformers right next to the higher price point Transformers? They're both childrens toys. Same shit with those DC toys from Spinmaster and McFarlane.

Ok. The for a BUDGET kids toyline it looks pretty good. Are you fucking happy now subjectanon? I swear to God you go out of your way to argue with someone over the most trivial of shit. You clearly knew what I was referring to when I called it a kids line. You demonstrated that you understood the point I was trying to make, yet you went out of your way to get upset and try to argue about it.
That says a lot about you and your defective personality. Try working on that. Maybe you'd have some friends if you fixed that.

>You clearly knew what I was referring to when I called it a kids line
ooof.
Considering there's people here who think that kids don't buy toys or believe a news attenntion grabber title about adults being the majority of toy buyers (ignoring the body of the article saying they're only like 30%), and you posting as anonymous, there's no way of me knowing if you're a self absorbed retard or not.
There's no way i could know what you actually meant, ESPECIALLY since other people thought it was a retarded statement to begin with.
Nevermind the second post defending it said that it looks fine compared to other kids lines (MLs? hue) and they don't look as good as collector figures (MLs?)... ooof, i do wonder if you're only just pretending not to be retarded after being corrected that all the childrens toys found in the childrens toy aisle are childrens toys.

Super Powers was always a major shelf clogger and pegwarmer at my stores before they pulled the plug. Kids hate that boring ass retro garbage compared to something that can shoot rockets from a glider or whatever so I think it's just a dwindling group of ancient boomers who buy those things.

it looks fine. Until we in hand reviews, it's more than passable. They kept the oversized stitching to a minimum and the simplicity is better than that.
It looks stiff because it's crappily posed, but all cloth up to 1/6 looks stiff unless you fiddle with it to an insane degree
