Got my replacement item for my fucked up Rachel Summers. Guess I'm just gonna have to order another one and hope for the best.

What they mean by "equal value" is a toy from the same toyline. IE, if you call in a replacement for a Marvel Legends, they're not going to send you something from the kids line. This isn't really that hard to comprehend, not sure why you're overthinking it.
>>
>>11697063
>"Well ACKSHUALLY what they mean in legalese is..."
Why defend corporate malfeasance? Don't you know that is what allows it to continue? We all know it's immoral. He should get a replacement of the exact same figure or a refund. Not some shitty peg warmer that no one bought.
>>
>>
>>11697073
>Pointing out what they mean by something means I am defending it
This isn't an argument. I'm not defending it, I'm just pointing out what they're doing. Goddamn, do I need to sperg out and get mad at my explanation in the same post? Fuck.
>>11697078
I don't disagree with you in the slightest. It absolutely sucks. I've been in that situation where I got a lemon and they couldn't replace it so I got something else instead. It sucks, but I either ended up fixing the figure, or finding a replacement via other means. The other figure they gave me just ended up being a bonus that I used to for parts or something. At least they let you keep your existing Rachel. One thing you could do, you could rebuy her off Amazon, swap the new one out with your bad one, and then return it. I had to do a return with Amazon recently and they even had "paint scratches/issues" as an option for returning the figure I got. It was easy. Sure, it's a little scummy, but fuck Jeff Bezos, and at least you'll get a fixed Rachel. Or, you could just paint the spikes yourself, it really only looks like a few minutes worth of work with a chrome pen.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11697109
Just do that and then rebuy it from Amazon or something. Really not that big of a deal. I doubt you'll get another one that's mispainted. Not sure why >>11697104 is spazzing out when it isn't even happening to him.
>>
>>11697108
>accept our benevolent corporate overlords and their half-measures to appease the little people or you are an angry gremlin
You're still doing it. Maybe we'd all have unqualified rights to refunds on damaged and defective products if you actually advocated for your own rights as a customer rather putting down anyone who dares to.
>>
>>
>>11697116
>>11697121
Sorry that I'm being realistic and not throwing a temper tantrum about a complete stranger having to return a toy. You're acting like a child. Stop it. This isn't even your toy.
>>
>>
>>11697116
>Maybe we'd all have unqualified rights to refunds on damaged and defective products if you actually advocated for your own rights as a customer rather putting down anyone who dares to.
Also, I had to reply to this because it's so incredibly overblown and untrue. Nothing is stopping anon from returning his figure to Walmart and getting a refund. In fact, he just said that's exactly what he's going to do. In the end, he'll rebuy Rachel somewhere and then have an extra free figure.
>>11697121
Why are you ignoring the part where anon said he's going to return the figure and get his money back?
>>11697132
Anon, you're making up weird scenarios in your own head that have nothing to do with you, just so you can get upset. Stop it.
>>
>>
>>11697157
I think toy collecting isn't really a great hobby for someone mentally.
It causes stress. Companies basically have you on their strings all the time. At any time they can drop a figure you really want but make it a Target exclusive or an SDCC exclusive with 3000 units produced and you'll never get it or you'll have to pay a ton to.
It causes people to lose focus on the here and now. It's a hobby that leads to people trying to get dopamine hits off nostalgia. Nostalgia isn't a good thing, as much as people lionize it. It's a sad thing, it is an indicator your life in the past was better than it is today. Someone who had a worse past but a happy today would want to forget the past. Someone who wants to feel what they felt in the past again has an empty today.
>>
>>11697164
Also why do you guys over think and over dramatize everything all the time? It's just buying toys. I can't say, in the decade and half I've been at it, that it's caused me severe stress. Maybe it's because I have real world problems that I make this toy stuff no big deal.
>>
>>11697177
Believe it or not, with certain personality types, when you work at a shitty job, and are dealt a shitty lot in life, you are even more likely to freak out over the small things like not being able to find a specific toy or having to overpay for it because stress is cumulative and that is the natural learned reaction certain personality types have developed to stress.
>>
>>11697186
Brother, in the past year alone I've had to deal with death, personal health issues, familial health issues, the stress of buying a home, rennovations that come with said home, oh, and as a fucking week ago, divorce. Something as piddly as having to pay an extra $3 for an action figure or having to exchange a figure because I got bad paint apps, is literally nothing to me. Nothing more than a slight inconvience. I think you guys need to take a step back and think about the bigger picture and stop throwing literal temper tantrums because you got a toy with a QC issue.
I had a figure with a QC issue like a week or two ago. You know what I did? I returned it and rebought it somewhere else. It literally cost me 10 minutes out of my drive home from work. Like I said, a lot of you guys like to make up weird scenarios or go out of your way to try and find stuff that will upset you. That's not healthy.
>>
>>
>>11697407
I hate everything. But it is what it is I guess. The icing on my day is I gave myself a 3rd degree burn on my hand earlier, so that's fun.
In more positive toy related news, I got Nimrod in my PoL with BBTS, so he's hitting now to those who wanted him. Just kinda hoping for something good from Toy Fair, maybe a Maximum Thor in the Coipel costume? Maybe a new comic GotG? X-Men 97 Beast perhaps? I could hope.
>>
>>11697425
You could look at the rumor lists, but then rumors can be disappointing if they don't turn out to be true.
I assume the only reason they have delayed on a '97 Beast is just that he had a Beast figure that's a similar design release not too long ago. Maybe they're just waiting until that gets out of recent memory so enough people will want to buy a new one.

I appreciate the perspective check posts. I keep agonizing over missing out on the new big Apocalypse preorders (didn't know I wanted get in on on X-Men stuff a few months ago), but I really shouldn't be. I have the retro carded version, it's not like there's going to be a glaring absence in my villains if I don't get one. As you said, toy problems shouldn't be treated like real problems. Toys are supposed to be fun or at least help us cope with our larger issues. Also, hope the new Nimrod is good, I was thinking about picking him up too.
>>
>>
>>
>>11697726
I was able to get a Sentinel without preordering, so I hoped I'd be able to do the same with Apocalypse, but that does make me feel better about my chances thanks. He's definitely an extravagance, but like with the Sentinels, there is just something very appealing about an in scale toy that an entire team of figures can fight at once.
>>11697738
The new Gambit was kind of tempting me, but looking at the AoA figures both a few years ago and now, it's easy to see why they're still shelfwarming. 90s shit normally gets me really easy, but they all look like such garbage aside from AoA Apocalypse.
>>
>>
>>
>>
Stopped by my local Target today hoping I might luck into the Psylocke & Thanos 2 pack. I've never found anything good in the few occasions I've dropped by in recent years, but this was the first time I didn't find a single Marvel Legends. Was pretty odd.
>>
>>11696997
Was it the Rachel with the non painted spikes?
I like that AoA Rogue figure, I picked mine up at Target when it came out 4 years ago? I saw some at Ollie’s.
I was sent a replacement for my Anti-Venom because he had a hole in the back of his head and Hasbro sent me a Ben Scarlet Spider.
>>
>>11698492
You can tell from the Target website which tracks in store sales that there are no more left. It's been at "900+ sold in the past month" for nearly a month and once that month passes it will likely revert to not showing anything.
>>
>>11698492
those were apparently only at targets that had disney in-store 'boutiques' - and those are few and far between and the scalpers know this shit and mostly cleared them out
all i have seen besides the re-issue of steve, pete and tony are that purple x-chick owl and maybe 1-2 random other things and only 30-45% of the time since at least christmas
>>
>>11698262
Yeah, it's not a big deal either way. The only thing that would have really made me feel like I was missing out is not getting Sentinel, but I was able to grab one and I'm pretty happy with it after the unboxing.
I've been going back and forth the last few weeks about what kind of figures I want to collect. While I've been tempted to grab figures like Secret Wars Ice Man and the Astonishing Colossus so I can do the Jim Lee team with the 97 figures if I feel like it, I've decided I'm just gonna stick with XTAS/97 inspired stuff for now, though I'll probably make an exception for some of the MvC gamerverse figs. Gamerverse Juggernaut and Omega Red have basically the same designs they did in XTAS, so they fit right with the other 90s X-Villains.

That really stinks anon.
I dont come to these threads anymore because there is so much whining, trolling, and arguing. And when someone does talk about toys it usually leads to people trying to argue with them. Not worth engaging with these people.
That said, I think the price of the figures and overall economy has led to people to be more picky about QC. If you buy a $30 figure (which imo is over priced), then you should expect little to no QC issues. If you buy a $5 figure, then yeah QC issues should be expected every so often. The price of everything has got out of hand, so when you go to buy something for your hobby and it has a flaw, then that flaw gets exaggerated in your mind. At least that is my understanding. I personally havent experienced too many issues with Marvel Legends figures recently, but I really dont buy them regularly anymore either. I am pretty happy with what I got in the past two or three years. There was a time around or before COVID when I noticed an uptake in QC issues but that could have just been bad luck on my end.
>>
>>11699742
I still post my toys in this thread. Even if spergs try to pick fights and whine about how a knee isn't bent a half a degree further or some gay little nitpick like that. I won't lie. This place has gotten pretty insufferable the past few years. I tried other sites out during the outage last year but everything else was just shit. Shit layout shit discussion shit people. So even though this place is inarguably awful, there's not really a better alternative. It would be nice if some alt chans had a /toy/ board but they don't.

Got the 97 two packs in today. Not sure if I like the black arm hair paint, but brown and tan Logan is pretty good.
>>
>>11700719
The brown suit Wolverine looked way too cartoony for me. Plus, I felt the brown should've been darker. I don't know what it is, the tiger stripe 97 Logan looks fine to me. I have a few of the older brown suit Wolverines, as well as the Ct so I'm good on it. Still, it's nice that the Storm has double elbows, which the original version did too.

I got him because I tend to prefer the animated aesthetic for these characters, but the brown looks a little light to me too. And it's a good classic Storm, the elbows for their female figures have definitely come a long way.
>>
>>11701077
That's fair. Some of the 97 figures do feel more stylized than others, but it really just comes down to personal preference. I got the Cyclops/Marvel Girl set and I definitely don't regret it. They look fantastic.

He is tsundere for Marvel Legends. He claims to hate the line's laziness but always ends up rating it passing now. I don't think rating figures on a "curve" by line is a good idea. Price should be factored in and that's ML's only strength besides against botched imports...which there are a lot more of now

>All these anons crying about $5 or QC problems or Hasbro not catering to their specific wants while anons life is completely falling apart while still taking it in stride
Really makes you rethink things and realize what's truly important in life.
>>
>>11701416
Yeah we really shouldn't even be buying many of these toys. They're just a miniscule distraction that likely doesn't significantly impact anyone's happiness beyond a few that have unique articulation and give people their first experience of really dynamic posing. But beyond that it's just buying extremely similar molds with very similar ranges over and over.
The money should be saved for when it's really needed like health issues or other problems that cause a lot of stress. The money could at least ease the stress somewhat in those cases. It's especially not worth getting upset over missing random figures.
In the end you wouldn't keep going back to that figure and appreciate it for years and years.

what toy manufacturer would be crazy enough to sponsor Anthony? He says whatever he thinks at the time on the figure. Even on figures sent to him by BBTS he will trash the figure which does not help BBTS sales.

Nice little collection you've got started there. It really is a good time to be an X-Men fan. Hard to believe that it was ten years ago where Hasbro and Marvel were sidlining them and trying to push the Inhumans instead. I wanna say 2016 was the year we got our first X-Men themed wave in a number of years, and even then they were few and far between. For the longest time all we had were the Juggernaut and Warlock waves and even those were like years apart. They were focusing big on the MCU at the time, and for good reason. But now that the MCU ship has sailed and aint ever coming back, us X-fags are eating good again.

I mean not really. If we're comparing to Hasbro, which despite what the other guy thought, even though I was referring to other 1/12 scale figures, not just Hasbro, there isn't a ton of difference. Plastic quality is about the same to me, paint quality is about the same, Jada and Storm maybe offering a bit more shading but it kind of depends, only real difference is engineering and that's only in certain places. I'm not debating that they're not good figures, they absolutely are. But to try and say they're leagues better than the competition is kind of laughable. They're better, but god forbid when you talk about them without sucking them off, otherwise you get accused of being a Hasbro shill.
I hate this line of reasoning, it's so low IQ. Come up with new material.

Glad I got Emma when I did, she seems to be consistently outselling all the other figures of the current wave.
>>11701924
Thanks, I'm pretty happy with the way it's coming together and I'm looking forward to hunting down the other 97 figures too. The stylized look combined with most of the costumes being my favorite for their respective characters is just everything I could want from X-Men toys. Seems like they're selling pretty well too, so it's nice to get into a subset of a line knowing it's likely to keep getting supported.
And it's wild to think back to those dark times. I'm glad muties are back on the menu too, but at the same time I think them being sidelined for so long makes me appreciate all the new stuff that much more. I love Spider-Man as much as the next guy, but I don't feel the pull as much with stuff like the new Lizard because Spidey has never wanted for toys or media projects. (That new 2099 figure looks alright though).
>>
>>11702153
Yeah, the long absence of good X-Men content really goes a long way into making the good stuff shine. I'm a Spideyfag through and through so I'll always feel the draw from his corner of Marvel, but at the same time I do understand what you mean. Spidey is never lacking.
That new 2099 has been super tempting. I saw him a couple of times at Target but ended up passing on him since I already have the Mafex and am more than happy with it. Still, the new ML was very tempting.

And I'm sure the Mafex is better, but that 2099 ML is enticing. I also remember seeing a Doom 2099 ML in the leaks for this or the next year. The 2099 characters all have such action figurey designs that I think they'd look great on a shelf together.

Also this. Collector action figures are hardly the big revenue stream that >>11702196 seems to think they are. Kids toys still outpace collectors figures in terms of sales, and let's not even get started on MtG like you said. That's clearly their biggest cash cow, not Marvel fucking Legends lmao.

Rumors are that it could be a red and black symbiote Spidey. Originally, they were going to make the big white spider and little squares on the backs of his hands red, but ended up switching to white for some reason. So the rumor is that's the version we'll get in the next wave. Kinda a cool idea. I'd get it.

I think they kind of are, though. They're certainly leagues ahead of Marvel Legends, which is frequently Hasbro at their worst. Hasbro's Star Wars (both scales) and G.I. Joe stuff are more flattering, though The Black Series is a mixed bag.

Needless to say this food coloring is not good for you, probably worse than the plasticizer fumes from toys

You could just make your own "dynamic poses gen". Maybe it'd actually get people to do a good job posting toys in cool poses.
>>

Well that's gay. What I would do, is then rebuy it at the $20 price point and then return the fucked up one under the higher priced order. I've done this before with a Black Series Stormtrooper. I even outright told the guy on the phone who would only do a refund that this is what I was gonna do and he said nothing would stop me. This was a number of years ago though at this point. I never got hassled for it. Still, it's an option if you really want to get a good Crossbones.

the main thing they have going for them is robust modern articulation. on every jada sf figure baring some limitations on the females like lack of biceps you have a neck and torso that just work, what you'd want. marvel legends in comparison is a total crapshoot, necks and torsos drastically change in function often for the worse.

So here's the thing about his review scores. I've noticed that they are dependent on his mood. For awhile he was copacetic, giving bad figures just 7/10s "for Marvel Legends". But now things changed. He mentions in recent videos a box of his BBTS stuff got trashed (how that happens who knows but this is clown world). So understandably he is pissed off. All his current reviews have now reverted to his angry style from a few years ago. I for one prefer when he just totally hates on any figure that isn't excellent, so I have no issue with it when it pushes him in a more critical direction.

That's rad as fuck. Even if you don't need it, you can easily sell that thing and get other figures for the money you made
>>11705519
I generally like the things he addresses in his reviews but for the past two months or so, he has been a completely whiny bitch. Complains so much about things that would have typically made the figures 5-6/10 and harps on about the negatives until the average score is at around 5-6 and STILL gives 0/10 or these childish scores like in your pic
I know we all like crapping on toys from time to time but I have never seen a Youtuber being this assblasted apart from that Retroblasting guy or whatever his name is. And this comes from someone who has complained about Hasbro quite a lot in the past
>>11705640
If Jean were included, that would be the perfect team. Too bad Mondo cannot pose for shit because the look of their figures is excellent.

Is he having some kind of breakdown? Did the microplastics + the weight of being a total loser failing at being a badass toy reviwer (???) finally got him?
>>
>>11705936
He lets his own bias prevent him from truly being objective. And it's obvious. People praise his negativity as being truthful, and most of the time I just don't think that's the case. Most of the time it's his own bias over the toy dictate his review. I mean look at this review. Clearly he's pissy because his package with his original 2 pack order somehow got tossed out with the garbage, so now the whole thing is a big stinky reminder for him. I genuinely don't know why people try to claim he's objective.
>>
>>11705943
>I genuinely don't know why people try to claim he's objective
Because him being extremely critical and nitpicky makes him look smart and knowledgeable in some people's eyes. And those braindead npcs now think he's some kind of pioneer in toy manufacturing
>>
>>11705952
It's really weird. Being overly negative just for the sake of it. But I guess the overly negative retards here and in other places latch on to someone as miserable as they are. I don't know why he does reviews for lines he hates. Must be exhausting.
>>
>>11705833
>the nostalgiafag in me wishes we had gotten her classic look first
You're not the only one. Most people would rather have the classic look instead of something that looks slightly off. Plus, not at least having an additional glasses-wearing head is dumb to begin with, especially since she has her glasses pulled up in the 97 version
>retro VHS Jubilee for that I guess, but all of those figures were ass aside from Sinister
To this day, I don't understand how they could fuck up the shading that hard. They could have easily watched some random Gunpla tutorials to understand how to properly do cartoon-style shading
>>11705936
I don't follow him that much but it seems to me that something happened after New Years which made him turn to an utter bitch. I remember him constantly yapping on about how shitty and overpriced Maximum Spidey and Hulk are (which was indeed true) but he still tried to stay somewhat objective at that point. In January when he decided to review some fan wishes, he then proceeded to go 100% anti-Hasbro. To some extent, I get it but after a few weeks now, it comes off as pathetic
On the one hand, he is telling people to finally stop buying Hasbro figures and then he continues to buy them himself while using "BUT IT'S MY JOB!!!" as an excuse every single time. He's literally proactively giving Hasbro a platform but then doesn't put his money where is mouth is

Shocked it's still in stock honestly. But, man, I kind of want the Psylocke, though when I think about it, it'll be $75 after tax and I'll be lucky to recoup $20-25 for Thanos, so practically Maximum pricing for a figure with heads I'm not sold on. Think I'll hold off for the inevitable 97 version. Definitely won't be as curvy unless they reuse the body, but that should have the skin tone and hair color I prefer.
>>
The Magik and Thor are nice, think I might get them both. I'm hesistant on Thor because I want to see how 6inchplus's one turns out, because that will probably be superior, but it is a classic style one either a head like this one rather than this costume.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11706970
I ordered one and sort of regret it already. I'm mostly sticking to 90s and animated X-Men and, like you said, they'll more than likely put out a 97 Psylocke eventually.
Still, I wanted to get all the MvC figures eventually and I guess it makes sense to prioritize the most elusive two pack first. I can always try to flip it if I'm not compelled enough to open it for Psylocke later this week.
>>
The fact that it's still in stock now is proof Target was just fucking with collectors and generating fomo by under stocking before. Now suddenly they got more in stores and online. I seriously doubt hasbro did a factory rerun so soon, so where did all these extra units come from?
>>
>>11707276
I genuinely don't believe Target cares enough about toys to do something like you describe. Toys don't generate nearly enough revenue for a retailer to out such effort into creating fomo or some such thing. Most likely explanation is stock for stores and stock for online are separate that don't necessarily affect one another. Yes, you have in store pickup or delivery from a local store option, but clearly that's separate from the online warehouse. Target, and all other retailers just have terrible distribution and prioritize toys so low that shit like this is a regular occurrence. Instead of getting pissy about it, just buy the thing online if you want it and move on. Be greatful that it worked out that you could buy one.
This board is too negative all the time.
>>
>>11707300
As an ex wage slave for Walmart, they really don't care about toys on any level beyond looking good for higher-ups when they show up. It's a higher cost area, it only sees high sales for about two months out of the year, it's high theft/loss/returns, and for the most part, any area manager has to cover both toys and usually a connecting department like auto or sporting goods.
