Toy Fair is this weekend so we should see some cool stuff, I'm curious to see all HW offerings and Disney Cars for this year. Mattel also teased their new Monster Trucks gimmick and more focus on F1 HW.

Where does everyone get their finds? From some peg hunting videos I've seen recently things tend to be pretty dire in some areas. I do know a lot of online retailers scalp to some degree or another though. Like you shouldn't be paying $5 for a mainline Hot Wheels or Matchbox car, but it seems to be the standard in places like Amazon and eBay.

Found a McMurtry Spéirling the other day. I read up on this car and watched the Stig run it and holy shit this thing is a monster for how small it is.

They've just made the blue one that the Stig drove, now with it's 55.9 second record as a decal. This one should be in the 2026 B and C cases. The gray one is the prototype that raced at Goodwood in 2022.

Was there someone last thread that posted the 2 chrome-pink Cadillacs? I recently found this Autoworld Eldorado and recognized the rear windshield and hood shape. There's a second version with a mint green paint job and interior-these are both new releases for this year.

Underside detail so that you can see the front CV axles and the lack of a driveshaft. It was actually a Front Wheel Drive system, same as the one used on the Oldsmobile Toronado.

Ok I rechecked, the color name is actually 'Crystal Firemist Poly'-it looks silverish with a small hue of green, but the interior is a blueish-green. I swear it looked alot greener at the store.

I've never even heard of this brand but they looks decent? Looks like they mostly focus on European cars.

BBurago is an old Italian brand, well known for relatively cheap and okay-ish quality 1:43/1:24/1:18 scale models produced in 90s. Now they moved production to china.

Now they also entered 1:64 market with budget (pic related - cheap looking, bad proportions) and high quality premium line as in this video:

So happy I was able to snag a 2025 hot wheels viper randomly at publix, I had an old maisto one as a kid in the 90s.

I have that one too but later version with these ugly wheels and opaque windows. At least Converible one is fine.

These have been retailing for $8-$10 depending on what store you get them from, but most resellers are selling them for $15+ not counting shipping. If overseas shipping doubles or even triples that amount, it'd be hard to justify that price unless one of the cars is one you really REALLY like.

The quality is pretty impressive for the size. Pieces aren't misaligned or loose like I see on some M2 machines cars, although there are no opening parts either.

Insane how much Cars clogged up the diecast aisles back when it was big. I could never figure out if it was actually popular or if it was some kind of artificial hype thing. I swear Lightning exists in the same place as Batman with a million different variants out there.

That's Civic's pretty cool. Isn't that the B16 engine in it? Wonder if I should get a Kaido House, the Trueno with the pop-up lights feature looks pretty neat but they're a little pricey...
>>11722004
In my experience, squarebody Chevys have been some of the hardest models to find diecasts in stock form-they're either slammed low-riders or monster truck off-roaders. Have a lot of nostalgia for them though.

I want to say Supra GR from Matchbox is great. Absolutely no shame to park it next to Mini GT models. So is HW Viper GTS. These mainlines have premium feeling.

I have the original release of that drag Civic in the blue and white. It's a nice casting overall, though it definitely isn't the best version. That red/blue is pretty great but the one in this year's F case is phenomenal, especially if you can find the STH.

The extent of my Cars collection has been a ghost Model-T (Logan Gearsall), a not-Nash race car (Joe Don Jackson), and a Crown Vic with waaay more rust than one should be capable of having (Donna Pits).
>>
>>11723627
Cars was and still is popular, Cars was top 5 Mattel sellers in 2025 with Hot wheels. Like think of it onto vehicles its hot wheels first, then pixar cars and last is matchbox. Mattel also said the Thomas reboot will be huge for them. Cars is just such a big juggernaut when it comes to merch its crazy. And its multigenerational too.

I'm enjoying picking up new Hot Wheels cars from work since I work in a toy store. Got a Ferrari Stradale and some purple Buick that has the little silver treasure hunt symbol on it, didn't even know when I bought it. 3 for 2 combined with staff discount makes these things basically half price for me.

Depends on what you want. Matchbox generally has very ordinary, everyday cars and industrial/commercial machines. Hot Wheels has more exotic, high-performance, or racing-tuned cars as well as wacky fantasy/fictional castings.

>McMurtry Spéirling
Jesus I just watched that lap and holy fuck that's nonsense. I started buying Hot Wheels recently and I actually picked one of these blue suckers up without knowing anything about it. That's cool as shit.
>>
>>11726065
Both now belong to Mattel but the main difference is that Matchbox focuses on stock factory cars and road work machines. Hot Wheels is more about high end editions, tuned and modified customs.
Hot Wheels goes for fancy decals, racing liveries, spoilers and bodykits or exposed engines.
Matchbox goes for factory colors, detailed headlights and taillights, stock look.

They used to be sold in cardboard boxes that were about the size of a matchbox.
