Skywarp and MAYBE Shockwave, not sure about getting more dinobots beside Grimlock but reissue feels nice.
>>
>>11715466
Already ordered the glowing ball with handles, I'm also getting Kranix and Skywarp. Probably Shockwave too but I wish it was a brand new toy. As for Astrotrain it really looks fun to transform with pretty nice alt modes but that robot mode is just too ugly, feels like a garage kit from twenty years ago. Maybe if it gets a huge discount in the future.

I honestly prefer his and BB's original forms so this is a plus to me

It’s especially suspicious given Dirgegun and Thrustor weren’t depowered

Literally just Skywarp, I'll only get Shockwave if he goes on clearance. Didn't even pre-order anything in the last round of figures either, I'll get Liege if he goes on clearance (he looks weird enough, so here's hoping.

That’s what I was thinking, especially since in JP continuity Lio Convoy becomes Great Lio Convoy at the end of Neo, I’m just curious how they’ll label the toy if they make one. Funnily enough, it’s kind of the opposite of one of Junior's old toys
>>
Skimming new lg comic, it seems the 13 Primes in the JG1 universe are all actually from the late G1 era, replacing the Great Convoy system... except for the Fallen, who came from an alt universe and tried invading it originally.

I think it's been stated the Maximo's alt mode is based on the Decepticon warships in Dark of the Moon, and I can see there is a resemblance.
>>
>>11715607
>I think it's been stated
no, that was one anon's comment that it reminded him of it.
Mark has no idea what he's doing when it comes to the fallen. He specifically mentioned the maximos "darts" from a piece of artwork where there were 3 ships, so small because Maximo is fuckhuge.
and he talked about how he "didn't realize the red part on his face wasn't a mouth"
it was a mouth.
Someone, possibly the takara guy that wouldn't know much about G2 at all, steered him in the wrong direction.
>>
>>
>>11715611
No clue if it will follow up organically, it could just be a reference since both Lio Convoy and Black Lio Convoy (eating rocks like Dark Amber) are seen in Speedia art with other Legacy toys (though, that comic was taking place during JG1's G2 period).

>he "didn't realize the red part on his face wasn't a mouth"
>it was a mouth.
No, Mark had it right, the red piece was clearly a chin strap, same as Jhiaxus.
You can literally the cables that strap it around his face in the art. Unless you think Liege also has cat whiskers.
>>
>>
>>
>>11715610
>He specifically mentioned the maximos "darts" from a piece of artwork where there were 3 ships
The darts are his artifact from the covenant, Mark didn't invent. They were based them on the ships from that one image so they'd fit thematically, and Mark just assumed that's what the covenant was referencing which is probably true.
>>
>>
>>11715625
>immediately apparent from every single image of the dude
Anon, there was exactly ONE image of him originally in the G2 comic, this one >>11715622
Everything else that came later, like the Loki Maximo bot from IDW, is a retcon. The new toy is not a "misinterpretation", it as at worst an ALTERNATE interpretation from what you always assumed and is at least as valid as anything from IDW that came out *decades* later.
>>
>>
>>
>>11715600
How does that even work?! Say what you will about American fans, Japanese fans are obsessed with trying to tie everything back to G1
>>11715629
They’re probably debating whether to do a HasLab or a MtO instead, like with the Arctic HISS
>>
>>
>>
>>11715639
Go Prime splintered the Prime timeline to prevent some awful shit from happening(guess as a way to explain the inconsistencies between the shows, toy bios, etc... ). When Leo Prime when there (the beast hunters toyline portion of it) he's told to leave since his presence could make things worse, cue the Predacons using his alt universe traveling portal to get there.
>>
>>
>>
>>11715644
I guess that makes enough sense, just seems a bit complicated, especially since the Go Predacons were said to be made by Shockwave. Is it G1 Shockwave now?
>>11715645
It was $200 compared to the original HasLab price of $300, with the trade-off of no electronics or extra figures
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11715653
I think the Artic HISS was only that way because they already had the mold for it, so it wasn’t as difficult as doing a wholly original mold like the MtO Sentinel
>>11715661
I think a made to order Star Saber would be their best bet if they were to redo an old HasLab. They could do a non-chromed, basic version for $120ish and I think people would get it. They’d probably complain about the price, but they do that anyways
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11715642
That interpretation is just going out of the way to see things in the most contrived way possible, if you believe there's a significant amount of people that interpreted that last G2 panel as the horns being part of an awkward protusion behind Liege's head you're out of your mind. It's pretty clear what the intention was.
And at the end of the day the problem is that the toy design suffers from that absurd take. There's no way in hell it wouldn't have looked way cooler with the horns coming out if his head.
>>
>>11715676
Assuming they use the same mold, that wouldn’t be that bad of a deal in my opinion. I don’t remember Victory Saber having that many major QC issues, and the ones it had were (somewhat) fixed with the reissues sent out, meaning they’d be fixed on the mold anyways
>>
>>
>>11715682
>>11715683
>this isn't objectively wrong but it's not how I always imagined it
>THAT MEANS ITS BAD
Every time with you fags lol
>>
>>
>>11715676
Oh, and to state my reasoning:
-The way the molds are set up would require new molds to separate several parts for costs, like the sword from the stand.
-A number of Victory Leo parts share molds with Star Saber.
The best I can see, they'll make a smaller mold that omits the stand, and just release it as a black repaint.
Even Yellow Spendid convoy brought up retooling, likely because they'll have to make at least 2 molds for the white parts, so they might as well change a few things to make her look a bit more feminine.
The only toy I see just being a cheaper release is Deathsaurus, since you could omit his throne, and extra weapons (so he'd only keep his sword and cannon).
>>
>>
>>
>>11715685
His biggest fuck up where the knees on Star Saber. The ratchet tooth used stronger plastic than the grooves on the legs, so the tooth just deformed the grooves after a few poses and makes the Victory Saber configuration more unstable.
It doesn't really affect Star Saber since he's not that big and tightening his knee is pretty easy, but this doesn't work for thr combination.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11715683
I myself would have made them horns too, but I kind of see what the toy designers were going for, interpreting them as a sort of spiked collar.
Based on the position of his eyes, Liege's face is so recessed into his head in that one comic panel that he would have been a huge pinhead if it were translated directly to 3D.

>clearly a chin strap
There's no "clearly" about it. A chin strap is certainly one interpretation, but frankly, cat whiskers is 100% just as legitimate of an interpretation. There is absolutely nothing in that picture to definitively say it's a chin strap. If you're basing this off the idea that whiskers would be dumb, then people who disagree with you could base their interpretation off the idea that the thing that looks just like a mouth turning out to not be a mouth is also dumb.
If you really want to know what that drawing was intended to portray, there's one surefire way to do that: ask Geoff Senior, the guy who drew it. He also drew Liege Maximo in Simon Furman's unofficial Alignment story which Hasbro apparently considered authoritative enough to use as a reference when designing the liegian darts for the new toy. But considering the haphazard way Hasbro has been making their creative decisions lately, I can't help but doubt they consulted him.
>>
>>
>>11715738
No. He sold out because despite how utterly fucked up he is, he's the only toy of the character in existence, and people want to complete their collections. There's no real reason to make another toy of the dude in the future, so this is likely it for him - people are just settling.

>There's no "clearly" about it.
Anon, in that very same image you posted, you can clearly see the straps going into the side of his face and a hint of the outline of his chin piece. The supposed "teeth" in his "mouth" aren't even connected to anything.
What the fuck would that be if not a red chinstrap like Jhiaxus'?
>>
>>
File: Alignment_online_cover.jpg (87.1 KB)
87.1 KB JPG
The unofficial cover art for Alignment is where you can make the best argument that the horns sat behind Liege's head. He's got a big spiky head and the horns seem to be a crown of sorts.
>>
>>11715779
Looks to me like they're growing out of the back of his head and curling over the front. It does indeed look like he's wearing some kind of crown, though - the spike in the middle of his head and the two smaller ones under his horns are a different color from the rest of him.
>>
Either way the spikes on his head in every piece of art are very clearly part of a headband and not a shitty little skullcap. Which would also imply something obviously would above that band, you know something like big ol' demon horns.

Again, what is with this every "other" stuff? IDW and anything that came later DOES NOT COUNT, it's G2 comic here or nothing for the purposes of the argument here. IDW is just as much an alternate interpretation of the original as this new toy is, if not much more so.

I always thought the red part with the wires was a mouth in the shape of a respirator and going by that pic it's clear there's no way in hell it can be the chin, there's no space for a nose and mouth there.
Between that and the horns it just feels like they tried to do the opposite of how people always interpreted that design just to mess with them.

Got MPG Nucleon Quest Super Convoy. I paid about 180 for it. Felt a bit pricey, but it is a pretty solid figure.
Pros:
-An almost satin black paint covers a good chunk of the figure. Looks phenomenal in hand.
-Everything tabs in pretty well
-Several weapons with tabs and peg compatibility
-Super Convoy is way more articulated than I expected. He even has ankles hidden there, with two clicks even!
-core robot is so much fun to mess around with, it's hands are compatible with a smaller set of guns and they're 5mm compatible.
Cons:
-Apparently, retail for this guy is $270, which is too much for what you get.
-Transforming it can be a bit nerve wrecking since you have to be careful to avoid damaging the paint, worst bit is inserting Convoy into the Super Convoy chest, the clearance is just right, so the paint will eventually start rubbing off at the sides.
-Chrome looks nice, but always goes bad, and fast. Not to mention you have to avoid touching it.
-HiQ is a letdown. The minifig version has a much nicer paint job, the connection to Super Convoy is terrible (the grill section is spring loaded and you have to insert him there, but he's held there by two small tabs) to the point he could fly across the room if you're not careful. To top it off, you have to put pressure on the chrome grill for the transformation.
-The hips on both convoys are comically strong, I'm scared they'll break every timr I move them.
I still think it's worth getting, but some of the issues could easily be avoided:
-The grill could be painted metallic grey.
-The grill section could flip around to reveal a section that secures HiQ in place via a slot for the head and the side tabs.
-Slightly more clearance for the Super Convoy mode
-Less stupidly strong hip ratchets.

I say this without irony, they could also make him a titan and justify it with budget (Super Ginrai has longer proportions and the cab doesn't form most of the torso, regular Ginrai mighr end up too small with and commander budget is a joke these days). That or a haslab with Godbomber.

Liege Maximo started out as a vague term Jhiaxus mentioned that was implied to be a base where the G2 Decepticons operated out of with Jhiaxus as their supreme leader. Then the final issue of Gen2 and the very last Marvel TF comic came out and ended with the cliffhanger reveal that LM was an actual person who was a giant demonic transformer the size of Metroplex. Who also claimed to be related to Megatron, who at the end of the Marvel series, had finally agreed to a truce between the Autobots and Decepticons.
Since then he alternates between being the Loki of the 13 Primes, Space Satan (until the Fallen took that role from him) and the secret father and creator of the Decepticon movement with Megatron as his unwitting or willing pupil

Is there a line of little poseable guys that would fit in the new Thundercracker's cockpit? I remember having one when I was really young but I cannot think of the name. It just had really simple arm and leg joints, and maybe little magnets in the feet?
>>
>>11715998
I don't get the meme here. The actual toy has a good robot mode, an incomplete shuttle mode, and a WTF train mode. The budget wasted on the coal car could've easily fixed the shuttle's problems. But a smarter designer was needed to fix the train.

The meme is revisionism. I don't agree with the 'it was always a great toy' line since it was always a great toy, but yeah.. the vehicle modes were a bit rough and people on twitter talking about how the vehicle modes on the new one are rough and siege was fine or whatever
personally, I think that while the robot mode does look like complete dogshit; the vehicle modes are movie accurate, AND Astrotrain's two big scenes in the movie (the escape and the shuttle fight) were both vehicle-mode focused scenes.
I'm not going to pick astrotrain up for full price, but he's definitely on the clearance list. I love the fact the train connected wheel thingies work, it's cool. Or if they make a g1 toy colors redeco.. which they do seem to be going for.

>>11715773
Again with this "clearly" stuff? Just because you interpret it one way doesn't mean that's what it's "clearly" supposed to be. Just look at how what you call "straps" just taper off to a point and vanish rather than wrapping around the head. If anything, a strong argument could be made that this makes them look MORE like whiskers and LESS like a mouthguard. You yourself even admitted they don't even connect to anything.
I'm not saying the chin strap interpretation is impossible, nor am I saying that seeing these features as whiskers or some other thing (heck, they might just be more tubes or tentacles running along the side of his face like the ones dangling from his body) is necessarily correct either. What I am saying is that acting like your interpretation is "clearly" the only possible correct one is nonsense.

No idea, maybe they have another meaning here? The Planet Beast guys had their wise men use Prime Master bodies so maybe they represent powerful beings in the Cosmos.
Sort of related, the comic had Grimwing and Laserback using the portal Leo Prime used to invade the G1 world. They seem to be the only Predacons that made it through before Leo came back and afe both killed. What makes this pretty funny, is that their original pack in fiction had them be be friends who didn't want to be savages and wreck shit, and even seemed to consider being allies to the Autobots so they could defeat the other Predacons. Since these guys don't exist in the Japanese Go! Line, you can guess why they where killed off.

It clearly needed another pass, so I'm wondering if this is another ER Starscream situation.

Diaclone pilots are too small to fit normally. Most smaller figure lines would essentially fit standing up, the only mini pilots that almost work are the rmz zoid pilots, but they're a tad too small and you'd need to glue them in place.

BTW, all these characters are leaving Cybertron to find energy sources that can help the universe from ending. Dai Atlas being by himself implies his buddies might be gone by this point. Now, the Stunticons took the Nemesis into a black hole, apparently to see if they find something in an alt universe. No clue if that is a set up for the G2 repaints.

I also just got TC and I love him, I think I'm in for the other two. Unless Starscream is some dumb exclusive that won't be available in my country. M Sipher's attempt at translating this:
>However, I felt the real problem was, could a female make cool decisions? So I settled on the result of a female navigator.
The correct translation however:
>But really, aren't women more capable of making calm decisions? So I decided the navigator would be a woman.

Looking at this image in full, I can see three things: One, Maximo's head is turned slightly to the left side of the page and down, looking directly at Rook below. Two, the horns appear to be turned with him at roughly the same angle, implying they are indeed supposed to be part of his head. Three, the red thing - and the tubes coming off of it - is NOT turned with the head and horns and is more or less situated directly in front, implying it's not a mouth, respirator, OR chin strap; it appears to be some sort of collar and is attached to his chest, and is facing the same direction as his pectorals.
>>
>>
>>11716442
Thanks for the explanation! I suppose it's possible it was an honest mistake, but I also feel like some people on the internet crave the chance to show off how good and righteous they are, and the only way they know how to do it is by tearing down someone else to create a contrast between themselves and the "bad" people.
>>
>>11716449
Interesting interpretation, but I dunno about all of that. The red thing on the front (mouth, chin, mask, or whatever) is slightly to the left (Liege Maximo's right) instead of centered above his collarbone and below the eyes, so if his head is indeed tuned to our left, then the red thing is turning with it.
Or maybe it's just imperfections in the art and is meant to be looking straight forward? Who knows?
>>
>>11716454
It's sad. In my day, people tore others down to build themselves up, not because they genuinely thought others deserved it.

>people tore others down to build themselves up, not because they genuinely thought others deserved it
Aren’t both of those bad though? You shouldn’t have to tear someone down just to build yourself up and you shouldn’t do it out of malcontent either
>>
>>
>>11716463
I just don't understand the point of this. Who does this appeal to, exactly? This seems more like self-fellation on the designers' behalf - nobody cares about the design process enough to want to buy and display three of the same figure in various stages of completion. Just sell the completed figure (for a normal price) and be done with it.
>>
>>11716464
I was joking, anon. One of those jokes where you tell the truth and then everyone laughs at how sad it is. because back then, we hoped things would change completely, and they did. But it turns out you can change completely and still be shit.
>>
>>
>>11716463
This pack would have been infinitely better, might even have been buyable if they had gone wild with the prototype color version. Like give him bright green and burgundy or black and red or something wacky, not just the normal version underpainted.
>>
>>11716459
Whatever the case of the "mouth piece", I think we can all agree that if the horns are turned to the same angle as the head in that image like they appear to be, then they MUST be attached to it and not coming from his back, otherwise they'd be fixed in place and still pointing forward while his head turned independently from them.
>>
>>
>>11716500
I'll trust you guys on the turned angle of the horns and face since I'm having a hard time seeing it, but either way, the contour at the top of his forehead where it goes into shadow matches the exact same contour of the horns, which would seem to suggest the horns are indeed on the top of his head and are what's causing the shadow just above his forehead.

>I'll trust you guys on the turned angle of the horns and face since I'm having a hard time seeing it,
NTA, but here's a quick and shitty photoshop of what they're talking about. Liege Maximo has a convenient straight groove up the middle of his pectorals that can be used to indicate where his torso is facing, and since it's pointed at the viewer here, it can be used to project a line of symmetry (pink). Looking at both sides of the line, you'd expect his eyes and horns to be equidistant from the pink line if he were looking straight forward, but you can clearly see that's not the case here (and, as you can see from the blue lines, it's because he's focusing on Rook in the bottom of the shot, not the viewer). You'll also notice the spike in the center of his head is also being seen from a slight angle rather than head-on, and as you pointed out, the shadows on his forehead indicate that he's not sitting perfectly still under the light source.
Just one glance at those horns makes it immediately apparent that they're not facing straight forward, either - even when accounting for slight imperfections in the artist's drawing style, it's immediately obvious that there's some forced perspective going on, with the closer horn on the right hanging slightly lower while the horn on the left looks higher because his head is turned away and angled (again, towards Rook). The weird red respirator thing is off-center, too (by a LOT), but it also doesn't completely line up with the way the head is angles, so I'm not entirely sure about what to make of that.
>>
>>11716524
yeah, you can see slightly more of the inside edge of his right horn than his left, so his head is turned very slightly.. But like you pointed out, the horns are also two very different thicknesses. This was kind of improvised and I can tell because I do the same fucking thing constantly, with this kind of detailed art.

Man Kranix really hits the spot for me. I love the weird and unique robot design, with its big head / long neck and combination of curvy / blocky shapes. Almost no hollowness aside from the waffle thighs which honestly aren’t egregious. And the alt mode captures that specific retro-future vibe that I love in G1 Cybertronian vehicles, although admittedly the back end just looks like a pile of legs.

>I just don’t get why they’re half assing engineering so much now
Minimum effort in exchange for maximum returns. They've learned that they can do the bare minimum, charge whatever insane price they want, and put it on a shelf, and idiots will still buy it up even if they complain about it. They pay for less engineering, use cheaper materials, and still make massive profits off of it. It's the same reason why they keep regurgitating the same G1 characters over and over instead of creating entire casts of new characters like they used to once upon a time - new ideas require money and effort, but they have no motivation for that because they know they're guaranteed sales by catering to their lobotomized drones who have been conditioned to buy up every single version of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee they shit out instead for far less.

I just realized something about the New Legends manga. So it’s established that Lio Convoy becomes Leo Prime and combines the Cybertron and Destron factions into one “Maximal” faction. It’s also shown that Bluebolts comes from a time period after these events, meaning the Car Robots Autobots really were Maximals in disguise all along
>>
>>
>>11715600
>>11715644
It's in reverse, TFP Predacons hails from the TFP universe, just as Leo Prime came for the last time in this universe, his portal was open so that some Predacons went in it, to the G1 Universe, but got apprehended by the Primal Vanguard (Delta Magnus & his powerdrives)

Omfg I can't believe we're still confused about this 30 years later.
Yaniger, senior, and galan, the 3 artist for g2, were chosen specifically because their sloppy, stylized aesthetic allowed them to produce the comic faster. They make a FUCKTON of mistakes, cause they are speed demons.
Hence why jhiaxus' leg missiles fucking disappear half the time.
So no, claiming that yaniger "slightly turned the head, which means this part is connected and this isn't" won't really cut it when he's about as precise as AKOM
Second, this is the description given by furman
"It was huge, perhaps
techno-organic in nature, with long, curled horns and
protrusions masking its bestial face. Eyes, as old the universe,
burned from the darkness, its mouth seethed with molten fury,
dribbling over dagger-like teeth. One arm was truncated,
ending in a cannon fuelled, it seemed to them, by a small sun."
Leaves no room for doubt
>>
>>
>>
>>11717064
>So no, claiming that yaniger "slightly turned the head
The only small correction I have is that I think this page was by Senior, not Yaniger (despite Rook's large chin). I could be mistaken though. Other than that very minor note, your point absolutely stands. I'd never read Furman's actual description before, but the whole bit about, "its mouth seethed with molten fury, dribbling over dagger-like teeth," certainly seems it make it pretty certain that it is indeed intended to be his mouth. Thanks for the clarification.

Omega Prime was a legit shitshow, it has to be said. Hasbro needs to recognize that living in a global economy when your product is made internationally means anything between countries can disrupt supply chains, and start using region based factories.
Using one set of factories for north, central, and south America, another for Asia, another for Europe and Africa.
That way if there's problems in one country they can shift production to one of their others.
Tons of international companies do that (car companies for instance)

There *has* to be more to the situation than that, and I think TFwiki's interpretation of Siebenaler's comment might be misleading. He's referring to toys "jointly developed." Prior to Siege, this probably covered very little because Takara always did their own versions of TF figures. That's why when Hasbro's markets got stuff like Combiner Wars and Titans Return, Takara released their own variations with different paint apps and sometimes even new tooling for Unite Warriors and Legends. But then Hasbro demanded that they both start selling the same versions from Siege onward. So yes, if a Hasbro figure has problems, the Takara release will too because they're the same thing.
But for the Takara exclusive figures, other than design flaws (like for MP Super Ginrai) which aren't the factories' fault, the ones I've bought have rarely had anything more than minor problems. Meanwhile, it can be like pulling teeth to find a Hasbro figure without noticeable problems with things like paint being significantly splotchy, scratched, or scuffed up at least somewhere on the toy. And heck, when Takara actually *did* have a major factory screw-up recently with 40th Anniversary Lio Convoy's misassembly, they postponed shipments to manually fix every figure. Compare this to when Hasbro has serious misassembly issues, and the best you can hope for is a running change, so people who bought early are screwed unless they exchange their figure (and even then there's no guarantee they'll get a fixed copy), while late buyers simply have to hope they find one from after the change.
I don't know if maybe it's because Takara has a higher rejection rate for factory copies of figures exclusively made for their market that don't look good enough to sell, or whatever other reason it could be, but what I do know is I buy from both Hasbro and Takara all the time, and Takara exclusives have rarely had much more than minor problems compared to purchases from Hasbro.

>needed 86 astrotrain to complete my coronation set
>everytime we get photos it looks worse and worse
I havent been bothered much by kibble and other stuff in other toys than were criticised harshly, but im finding it hard to justify this one, the robot mode just looks like a hideous afterthought that pales to previous incarnations and third party. I've liked the 86 stuff so far and own a great deal of it, but this one just looks like a total dud that needs to go back to the drawing board.

I deeply regret passing on the triple takeover bundle now, might browse ebay for an astrotrain I like the look of or hope people start selling theirs off for 86 like with other bots, though I feel this blunder might drive up the price of after market astros

My main issue with hasbro and 3p legends is.. holy shit do anything other than g1 show characters.
I want core class versions of the beast wars cast that aren't fucking 50 dollars (robot toys cheetor COUGH COUGH). I want that goddamn legacy core class dinobot. My favorite core class figures are iguanus, rotb arcee, and BM cheetor. Fucking BM Cheetor.
I would kill for core class powermaster Optimus prime that stood at deluxe height in combined form. I would love to see armada designs tackled with static little slug figure vehicle mode only minicons that still plugged in.
And above all else: I want these figures to be toys first. Not trying to be show accurate. Take those designs and put a spin on them, and don't give me panelforming on a core sized figure like you're going to upscale to masterpiece..
..But third party companies want to make money so they only do things they'll know are successful. Another four hundred legends scale Optimus primes and make sure to only make 50 Megatrons to go with the primes for some reason.
It's a shame.
Speaking of powermasters though, Wasn't there a powermaster in the leaked listings for 2026 aotp? The buggy one?
>>
>>11717931
>do anything other than g1 show characters
>I want these figures to be toys first. Not trying to be show accurate
I’m honestly shocked no one’s ever tried to make retro style Mini-bots like ML Bumble and Cliff. Feels like a super obvious way to make G1 Core figures without repeating the same design as the bigger figures
>Wasn't there a powermaster in the leaked listings for 2026 aotp?
Yes, Joyride was in the leaks and the current guess is that he’s going to be a Sureshot retool. I’m curious to see how they handle his Powermaster though. He’ll probably just be a redeco of Spoilsport, but I’m hoping they try an actual Powermaster
>>
>>
>>
>>11717946
Joyride is 100% a retool of sureshot looking at the two of them now.. and considering sureshot has a LOT of space on the hood.. yeah, I think they'll be able to get the powermaster gimmick in, although I don't think he'll unlock anything for transformation.
>>
>>
I hate to try and defend astrotrain. The robot mode is entirely unacceptably shit.
But.. SS86 is all about MOVIE accuracy. And Astrotrain's two iconic moments in the movie were chugging out of autobot city in train mode (with the door opening) and then blasting off into space, where the fight for leadership took place. Both of those were in vehicle mode, so the vehicle modes being prioritized makes sense..
It doesn't explain why the vehicle modes also kinda still suck though. But the train wheels functioning is cool.. I guess..
this is totally a predeco of a retro Astrotrain though.
>>
>>11717961
A transformer is more than its robot mode, and in the old days a toy would prioritize the vehicle modes. Siege ignored the vehicle modes and focused only on the robot mode, and this Astotrain is a rarity in that it focused on making the alt modes better at the cost of the robot mode suffering. Unpaintable plastic in the one robot mode spot that needs paint? That's just pants on head retarded that could only come from an alt mode focus.

>i want core class versions of the guys who need the most complicated parts to actually look good on both modes
why? how is being small an advantage?
>so then they can look good next to my G1 guys and
THEY STILL WON'T. they'd have to be the size of like, coins. But more importantly if they're all core, they won't look right next to each other.
>only do things they'll know are successful
uh, right now they only do things they know will lose money. but they justify it saying, this is the LEAST lose-money of all the lose-money options. that's why it's 'safe.'
>>
>>11717965
I remember noticing back in the 90s that vehicle transformers tended to focus on the vehicle modes, while beastformers tended to focus on making a cool robot mode, and if the beast mode was just a dumpy monster with obvious robot arms or legs bent funny, they caredn't.
>>
>>11717837
Well at the very least it's a Monstructor that won't disintegrate on you. Although it's funny how Monstructor's lore has him as some kind of spooky, eldrich horror but his toy is always one of the smallest combiners.
>>11717839
Nice to see Hasbro put in at least a little effort to change them from dinosaurs. Yeah, some of these modes look a little stupid, but it's not like the original Pretender Monsters had good alt modes either (look at original Icepick for example).

>I want that goddamn legacy core class dinobot.
I've mentioned it a few times but they should just make a Jurassic World 2-pack of Blue and Beta using the Voyager mold and Core mold respectively. I would buy that.
>>
>>11718036
i have a suspish that the reason they haven't done one with the voyager dinobot mold is because they don't feel the flat chameleon feet suit their carefully trademarked cool and '90s realistic' dinosaurs. so Core would be that on steroids.
It's too bad, I think it'd be really easy to fix, just replace the hands with proper raptor feet, and let the hallux be the thumb (and the stabilizer for standing). you could even make it a double hallux and nobody would mind, he'd just have kinda long foot-hands. He already has fuckin yaoi hands, so
>>
>>11718038
while we'll likely never see the core class dinobot I'm 99% certain it's literally just going to be the same exact proportions and transformation as vertebreak/dracodon, just with a non-skeletal dino mode.

quick shoop job of what I mean. yeah the hands look a little weird, but if you changed where the port goes, that could be easily fixed. extend the foot out more, keep the hole in the 'palm', whatever. but that wouldn't work as well for the tail weapon. might want to remold that too.
>>11718047
seems odd they would do that when the original toy is right there to use as a guide, and actually somewhat resembles how the character transforms on the show, unlike the dracodon version.

while we're on the topic of Beast Wars dinobot someone please pester the cyberworld toy designers about making a cyberworld dinobot at whatever con or toy fair they show up to next. They're doing primal and Cheetor (who has tigatron's deco for some fucking reason..)
A dinobot with a cyberworld autotransformation would be awesome + they would get to have him appear in the show (which is pretty decent)
>>
>>
>>
>>11718066
I've only got the armored cyber Optimus since he was on clearance, but damn, the autotransformation is super neat and well engineered. And cyberworld's show is pretty good especially after slogging through earthspark season 3 and 4.. could rival cyberverse if they don't screw up soundwave and shockwave honestly.
While generations is fumbling sometimes it's nice to enjoy the spoils of the mainline. I seriously do recommend picking up one of the car cyber changers at least since they do the autotransformer gimmick the best, it seems.

Damn. I forgot how shit the original G1 monster-modes were. I guess I should probably go track down a Dinoking.
I wonder if it can do the little T-Rex style secondary chest arms that IDW always depicted him with.

The monster Pretenders are such a funny concept to me. They’re robots that transform into monsters who use shells to disguise themselves as monsters. It feels like there was an unnecessary step in there somewhere
>>
>>
>>
>>11718384
I wish there was a little more transformation in the arms on some of these guys. I know the original toys pulled that shit too but still.
and Icepick is just flipping on a mask. I honestly wish they just kept the Grimlock transformation and changed the beast head. I know it would look less accurate but not as lame.
>>
>>
>>
>>11718461
I get what you mean, but it does seem kind of redundant given their alt modes are already supposed to do that. Either that, or their alt modes just suck at disguising who they are
>>11718465
I’m assuming they’re talking about either PotP or Gen Selects Abominus
>>
>>11717841
Nah it works, Dinoking gets the good looking head of old japanese vibes, while Monstructor lives up to the word Monster he/they evoques
>>11717965
>Siege ignored the vehicle modes and focused only on the robot mode
Nah, Siege still put sauce on the alt modes, the locomotive is great, only the front being undersized because of how it stores on the legs, while the shuttle is still good, back if rought ngl but it got 5 thrusters (3 large, 2 small) as nasa shuttles do (ER Sky Lynx got that too)
Just, they werent thriving off to sunbow
"The apology tour" that marketing stunt so ass if you ain't in your fifties
>>
>>
>>11718470
that was kind of the case for all the Pretenders. especially the Decepticon ones which just looked like angry monster warriors. None of them were blending in with Wall Street.
If I had to fanon a decent excuse, it would be cases where they wanted to send Decepticon agents out to pull shady shit, but not have it traced back to them. People would think it was just random aliens and whatnot stealing things and causing trouble. Rememeber these was from the later years when Outer space travel was fairly common in the plot.
I remember the commercial for the Pretender Monters actually showed Pretender Starscream making them. I feel like they're could've been an interesting story there.
In cartoon lore, he's still supposed to be dead, killed by Galvatron. nobody knows he's actually alive and running around because he's disguised as a human and has a bunch of "organic monsters" helping him.

Tariffs aren't going to matter when buying from places like Target, Walmart, or directly from Hasbro. They eat the prices of those, the reason prices increased is because of inflation, yes prices didn't raise at the same rate as inflation, but that, in combination with companies like Hasbro being greedy, caused it. The real question is, does this reinstate de minimis? Can I import my Japanese figgies without having to pay $40 in shipping?

This. Prices never go down - not unless there's an entire economic crash first, which hasn't happened yet (and likely won't any time soon - the country's still trillions of dollars in debt, but as long as the government keeps plugging their ears and screaming "I can't hear you!" really loudly while printing money regardless of the fact that it lost its value ages ago, we'll continue to run on IOUs indefinitely).

-I do not care for the Monster-modes of this Monstructor.
-Pic related, the somewhat recent Boxset, is called “Dinoking”, as is written on the lower right of the box.
-I prefer the Dino-modes this Dinoking has.
-I would like to go find a copy of this boxset to purchase instead of this upcoming Monstructor one.

I mean, it probably helps that I personally have no real connection to Dinoking and the Dino-force since I’ve never watched Brave or Victory or whichever JP show they were in.
I don’t much care for Volcanus, since he’s got worse hands and feet, and if I’m getting the Dinobots I’d like them to be better than the legends. It might also be harder to find since it came out in 6 separate parts.
As for Monstructor, I admittedly have no personal connection to the Pretender monsters either. Mostly I just like the guy as that one giant semi-directed abomination which showed up in IDW from time to time to wreck shit. Ideally he’d be able to do the sub-arms to better emulate him. But again, I don’t hold by at least half of those Monster modes, so that’s probably a pass for me.
So since I still would like a modern micro-combiner whose alt-modes don’t suck too hard, that leaves Dinoking.
Not saying others should share that preference, it just happens to be mine.

>Optimus Prime Vol 3 -5 (#11-25)
>Lost Light Vol 3 & 4 (#13-25)
>Requiem of the Wreckers
>Unicron (#0-6)

This all seems well and good but I don't know about read order. I know about >IDW and all but I'm in this deep and I want to read the conclusion.

Needs all the DNA equipment sets to complete all six with trumpets... But you choose the parts you want to upgrade.
Side note, how do you think will they tampograph Vector Prime's Prime Master symbol in his eventual package refresh? Though honestly, he would have been raised to Leader Class not just for his Galaxy Force recolor, but to pad out his box by including the Recon Mini-Con Team (Jolt, Reverb, Six-Speed, Safeguard) were he had been released in the Walmart capsule line. Doesn't mean he won't be released in the future someway else.

The armada Megatron mold is again, very simplistic. It's big and chunky but the shoulders are kinda eh. If you like large figures with underslung cannons it's decent.
Me personally, I would pick literally any other post prime wars leader class over the ArmMegatron mold. Maybe except kingdom Magnus (even though I love kingdom Magnus's robot mode)

That's why we expect a more faithful Vector Prime based on the original Cybertron release, complete with the few Powerlinx ports it has (which I wish would be enough to hold all four of the show's Mini-Cons, and I still think the Gigantion partner Mini-Cons are nothing but props compared to the Recon Team).

Sorry but, he is to me anon (I'm the guy you originally responded to lol). I've basically all the issues as that other guy, just, maybe with far less buzzwords.
Like again, you could argue "oh the original was a nothing-brick anyway" but... I mean, at least it was a much cooler looking and less-stumpy nothing-brick :P
My position is: if they can't perfectly replicate XYZ real-life vehicle but got close enough, sure, I'm willing to be lenient. But, if they can't even be bothered to get the nothingmobile correct... how much am I willing to excuse, you know? You'd think the nothing-mobile WOULD be the most accurate, it's already something that was designed to favor the bot-mode. They can't be bothered to get even that right? I dunno dude...

>NTA but stickers have literally been a part of Transformers since inception
Stickers just feel right on older transforming toys. They had less surface detail and were sculpted with the sicker placement in mind most of the time. Also, the whole old school proportions and aesthetics meshes well with those sticker designs.
But replicating the random 80s style tech detail stickers and aplying them on moders figures is just bad taste to me, even more so when they're shiny foil. It makes the toys look like a garish chinese KOs, and handling them when they're covered in stickers is not a great idea either. I can understand their use for small details, but that's it. Robot toys after the 90s need actual paint, not stickers.

Anons here bitch too much when reviewers aren't literally bigots, agreed; that said I personally dont like Russ's vids that often because of the production quality - the lighting and camera focus always suck.
His main appeal is only that he gets stuff out the earliest, but that also means he hasn't spent much time with the figure and doesn't really have anything insightful to say about it or have many good comparisons, and sometimes (rarely) mistransforms small bits too.

My point is I think you're literally just paying an extra 30 bucks for someone to put a model kit together for you. Shit, buy me the model kit and I'll put it together for you if you cover the shipping and throw in 20 bucks.

I assume both Ironhide and Bluestreak use regular plastic. It doesn't really help Bluestreak too much, since the molds main issue was that the clear parts where on a slightly misaligned pin, so you couldn't go into vehicle mode without putting some force to keep those parts in the correct orientation. Not Jobby, he was only good in his first year and then fell for the being the Filthy Frank of toy reviews and fell off a cliff.
>>11719622
PerspectiveEnd is kind of whiny but he respects other's tastes and is one of the few reviewers who are honest, maybe the only one left. He not only goes over the transformations and aesthetics but the QC and design issues of the figures.

>Not Jobby, he was only good in his first year and then fell for the being the Filthy Frank of toy reviews and fell off a cliff.
he also reviews 3rd party only. And his taste is visible - all toys from his reviews look the same (pointy overdesigned asian designs with 90000 flop-panels you unfold).
Jobby is an example of "your overpriced 3p transformer"

>Reviews SS86 Prime
>Likes it okay enough, his only real problem is the back (as it usually is for him)
>Reviews Newage Romulus
>Disappointed that it's shorter than 86 Prime
>SS86 Megatron comes out
>Cleanest back on an official TF in a while, scales much better with 86 Prime (kinda goes without saying)
>Reviews everything BUT 86 Megatron
The one time HasTak seemed to cater to him specifically and he still doesn't give a fuck. Then again, he'd probably complain about Megs turning into a tank, not having a mace, and the legs being too blueish gray, either as himself or in his "BUT JOBBY" persona

I would watch the fuck out of toy reviews from Tim "We ain't found shit" Russ.

Transformers, Zoids, and the two specific TMNT lines targeted at A) the old movies (nearly complete now) and B) essentially "Missing Link" of the old toys (line is dead but we're hoping it comes back)
Havent got the money for much else. occasionally I get a wild hair to make some custom lego shit, only to be reminded why lego is kind of awful for mechs.
>>
>>
>>11719761
Collect is too strong a word, but I liked usual things like Hot Wheels and Lego as well as a kid. Most non-Transformers things I bought as an adult are all over the place and only like 4 from the same line.

If you were watching Jobby at all past 2017 or so then you're fried
Guy is ACTUALLY fucking retarded unfunny sperg
Him claiming "Oh yea Filthy Frank really was a huge inspiration for me and my humor" then proceeds to do absolutely nothing frank would have done
He wanted to be "Alt Timeline Pink Guy who reviews figures" but hated calling himself a reviewer
So retarded

Mostly it's TF and Toku with random picks here and there
Sometimes Anime stuff but that's getting harder to find good shit

Collect Gunpla and some Braves (mainly GSC Gattai and Toyrise). Semi Transformers adjacent, but I also pick up the occasional Metal Cardbot or other Korean or Chinese transforming robot toy that catches my eye.
Non transforming robot related, I also collect a few G.I. Joe Classified or Star Wars figures, but only of characters I like (got Kyle Katarn preordered on Amazon).

I can't imagine being a Transformer only collector. Especially if you have certain taste that are not being met such as wanting Energon Updates but having to deal with the fact its poor reputation is making HasTak constantly avoid it. Well my childhood was varied to begin with so I collect a lot of things not just Transformers, like the occasional Lego mechs and Speed Champions, Gunpla, some Toku Figuarts and several Hot Wheels. Having a varied collection helps because it can fill the void waiting for a toy that hasn't showed up. Like me waiting for Energon Optimus for 22 years with no hint in sight at all so rather than despairing everyday I put my focus onto something else. (And no I ain't getting the Fanshobby toy, I don't like certain aspects of the stylized design)

No, that one is Ginrai because 2028 is the 40th anniversary of Masterforce.

I assume you're referring to that youtuber Chris Jaam and his video about someone being teased a 3D file of Energon Optimus's Super Mode Drill Foot. The guy had to make another video later clarifying that it's all heresay and rumors until it is fully confirmed by Hasbro themselves because as it turns out, getting second hand information by a guy you do not know and whose only proof is his words isn't really substantial enough to be actual rumors. Don't be so gullible anon.

What part of "pre-assembled model kit" was unclear the first time? Like I said earlier, there's a trend going on in Japan right now where companies are selling professionally assembled, painted, and de-nubbed versions of a kit straight from the factory with an upcharge. That's what this kit is cashing in on. Also
>flimsy
As someone who owns both Arcees and Windblade, they are most assuredly not flimsy. You can pose them just fine, and since they don't transform, there's no need to worry about breaking things from moving something the wrong way.
They wouldn't stand up to a small child, sure, but you shouldn't be as big of a klutz as a 10-year-old to begin with.

>>11719966
nothing's as bad as the first pics we were given
I mean this in all the seriousness someone of my age and position can: the people who take the initial promotional pictures need to be fired. There are so many CAPABLE people who would LOVE to play with toys for a living and pose them. By allowing these parasites to steal the jobs and do them poorly, enabling their behavior by not firing them, you are stealing from the more deserved.
