And of course, she's in the new scale, I have Shiburin, she's exactly 13cm tall.
Let's see if more people post their bocchis in Xitter.
>>
>>11800887
>But okay I guess 14cm about which is 5.5 inches. Then that doesn't seem as big to me as everyone is saying... I was expecting Snail Shell size which I think are around 16cm/6.2in
The problem is Frieren is supposed to be a womanlet, 14cm is pretty big for a short character in japanese scale. From the SS girls I have, the biggest one is Aileen who is 15.8cm tall and the shorter is Grisa who is 14.5cm tall. So in my opinion she fits better with chink figures.

Yeah, I mentioned it in the ctg thread a few days back, but the figma's practically spot on for 1/11 with Frieren's height being 150cm/4'11 so she should fit perfectly with Chinese figures and Legends.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11801333
Because it used to be scale figures were the $100+ anime shit while figmas were the cheaper alternative. Now its all the same shit. Double wamey when you get almost no accessories and they keep jacking off store exclusive bonuses. An exclusive base is fine, but locking a actual part of the figma, like a faceplate, or other accessory, is pretty gay.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11801333
When they first started and remained reasonable up until like 20-6 or so. I remember Sherlock Hound being one of the first ones where the price started seeming excessive at the time, now it seems like a total bargain with the cart he has.
>>
>>11801342
>>11801352
>>11801357
>>11801364
Why did they became expensive in the fist place anyway? From what I read people have been complaining before the tariffs. From a cursory look of their catalog there has been little improvement of their figures.
>>
>>11801380
Because they realized they could charge more, but also other factors like Japans economy going to hell, cost of manufacturing going up, increased sculpt and paint costs, early figmas were very simple by design, as time moved on people wanted more quality so that shoots up, compare old figmas with new ones and you see a stark difference.
>>
>>
>>11801046
If I remember correctly, she got a Yamaha in the last episode after her dad's Les Paul crapped out. Which is weird because the mango box is from one of the earlier episodes.
>>11801048
wtf I specifically went for the figma because pictures made it seem like it had a more saturated pink tracksuit but here they look the same. The skirt looks bad too with that stitch. And she's hueg... Fuck, I suddenly wish I had just gotten the buzzmod which comes with the LP I prefer plus a guitar case. I want to cancel my preorder but I can't...

It doesn’t fall off easily on mine, I think she’s good quality. But the choice was made for me when I got her for 30 bucks with a damaged box, and I like her size. Figma does have the superior faceplates though.
>>
Ok bros I’m kind of freaking out about Bocchi now… I have A2 and 2B which I think are new scale and I don’t mind because they are like tall mommies. The Nikkes I don’t mind being tall because they’re also similar android/cyborg sexy characters but more importantly they all go together across Hyper Body and Snail Shell lines because they’re all similarly tall. But Bocchi has no one to go with. And she’s supposed to be like a petite high schooler. So if I put her next to Solid Snake for example to do funny scenes, I think it would look ridiculous.
I might not even open her and just sell and get the buzzmod. I hope I can sell without taking a loss though.
>>11802031
If you are vouching for the buzzmod anon that encourages me even more. As for the faces, honestly I don’t think I’d consider Figma's selection perfect. I guess they are more fun but I don’t see myself using the dissociating drool face or the weird jagged face which I don’t even remember what scene that is from. I think the blue sick face is my favorite. I would’ve liked the >.< face though

>>11802256
not without modifications or the right joint. there's probably a hobbybase joint with the right diameter/neck peg for a figuarts head/figma neck but you'd need to trim/shave the other half. you'd have an easier time fitting a figma head onto a figuarts body

I've fallen so hard into the despair of Bridget just being GG's Steve Urkel/Poochie/Whatever mascot character, that I'm not even sure who else they'd even consider making figmas of. GG's one of those franchises where it feels like the most of the gooner characters aren't exactly the popular ones. Or in the case of Dizzy are in the middle of a redesign that people are on the fence about.

bit late but I just got for GSC global, I get bonuses, the flat rate is honestly preferable to whatever shit amiami will charge you and the shipping is reasonably fast, maybe if you buy a lot the same month ami is better because you can merge them together, but just individual releases? just go GSC
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11803042
price is going up but if you keep the product pretty much the the same it wouldn't look good, and making them larger is cheaper than say more accessories or refined molding. Besides like other anons said, international competitors(not just chinks but burgers as well)are making larger products so it also make sense for the japs to do the same thing.
>>
>>11802551
Might not count on it, because if it doesn't change articulation much, it's basically Max Factory starting to be cheap in the most horrifying of prices.
Different topic, but how do you want the figures of Anis and Neon's Over Specs? It's either as figmas or Hyper Body. I think Anis's Star Over Spec might be simply a figma because of the shoulder mic setup, while Neon's could easily be a Hyper Body because her new rocket launcher is a new type of overtech between Elysion and Missilis story-wise.

Next month should be the release of figma Illya, at least at the earliest. While I doubt she comes out next month, just hope.
Say, has there been any figma that managed to get out in its initially planned release date ever since the messy delay spams from the early 2020's?

Frieren is really nice, I posted a pic here >>11804942
This was my Snake which disintegrated out of the the box that I returned within a couple of hours of buying it, so I was hesitant to get this but the Figma mogs the Figuarts so I took a chance and it paid off.

>>11805968
I want to cancel mine but I already recently cancelled something on amiami so I'm afraid they would ban me for this... I guess I will just try to sell her when I get her which is a slight hassle. Already ordered the buzzmod. Ami has a few with the mango box aniplex bonus and it's $5 cheaper. I feel retarded for not doing this sooner. Idk for some reason I thought the figma would be better.
>>11806264
I can live with big Marin because she looks like a character that can be believably tall. Big Bocchi and big Frieren feel weird. I didn't think scale would bother me this much but it does so probably not going to get anymore figmas of short characters.

>I can live with big Marin because she looks like a character that can be believably tall.
She's only 5'4, though I guess that's slightly tall for Japanese woman standards. The real concern is if Figma made those shorties that big, how big will they make Marin?
>>
>>11806643
>She's only 5'4
I'm not really thinking about canon heights. I think all the Nikkes are canonically very short. But since they are supposed to be sexy android type characters, I can pretend they are taller the way fashion models are generally tall. Idk if that makes sense but kind of how I can justify it. It just depends on the design. Marin to me feels "tall coded" if you will... She's not a cute young looking student, she is more mature and sexy looking so her having long legs would be believable to me. It's hard to explain lol
>The real concern is if Figma made those shorties that big, how big will they make Marin?
Isn't the new scale just making everyone around 6 inches? She is listed as 145mm which is about 5.7 inches. Himmel is 6.2 inches/158mm. Not sure if that is in proper scale with Frieren. This is all so weird. It would be so much easier if everyone just did true 1/12.

I didn't even buy it at their store, do they have exclusive distribution rights of anything Frieren outside of Japan or something? Can't say I like how much sway that streaming site has.
>>
>>
>>11806843
Unironically so happy I got the shf reissue instead. I hate the hair, faces, and way the clothes are sculpted on the figma. Plus of course the size. Shf is nice and sturdy and would make for a good lil pocket figure if I had the type of autism where I carry around a figure in my pocket wherever I go.
>>
>>
>>
>>11806923
>I hate the hair, faces, and way the clothes are sculpted on the figma.
I have the Figuarts and bought the Figma too because the bangs and faces (other than the silly one) of the figuarts always looked off to me. As for the clothes, the flowing sculpt on the Figma is better for floating/action poses.
I'm still going to use both for now, Figuarts goes with Fern and figma with Himmel.
>>
>>11806675
Nah, I get what you mean. If Gojo wasn't there towering over her, I'd probably think she was more like 5'7 or something. As far as the scale, I'm not sure how accurate GSC's listed heights are nowadays. Holo was listed as 150mm, but ended up more like 140mm, which is good because that would've made her as big as TOTK Link(at least what he was listed as). They also still seem to make some lines a bit smaller and closer to the older scale. I just feel like I never know how big a figma will actually end up until I see it in hand nowadays.
>>
File: IMG_3871.jpg (1.3 MB)
>>11805800
>>
>>11806923
Yeah, I'll just buy the clothes for the SHF.
Now if the Figma came with THE face and a briefcase, I see there being a good argument for still liking the Figma despite the scale issues.
But they really didn't do much to make it stand out, and the gold trim will probably make it hard to find soft goods replacements for.
Mimic is neat, but just a gimmick. And Zoltraak being GSC exclusive is poop.
One thing I will say is I imagine the ankle joint on the Figma is better than the SHF.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11807793
They sure want the statue crowd to understand the appeal of posable figures. I just hope those poor figma survive the day (if the event wasn't in Japan a hamhands would snap something in less than ten minutes).
>>
>>
>>11807851
It’s kinda funny, when action figures are now way wayyy in vogue for some reason, they’ve scaled down production unlike Bandai who are pumping em out. I guess there’s more expensive licensing involved with Figma though.

Not saying that the figma isn't a bit oversized but people here don't seem to understand that the Figuarts is REALLY small. I'm talking half a head shorter than the original Saber figma from 2008, a character that is 154 cm tall. I don't think Frieren is THAT short when compared to Artoria. So even if the Frieren figma is bigger than it should, it isn't really as much of a difference as people think after seeing that pic, because the Figuarts is undersized when compared to figmas.

Sure, but less than 154cm? Saber is a womanlet too. Hell, I just checked and the Figuarts Fern is also shorter than 1.0 Saber. That's obviously wrong.

I don't know if that's truly her official height but that's still extremely close to Saber's 154cm, and the Figuarts is way shorter than that. And, again, it's absolutely impossible that Fern is shorter than Saber, but the Figuarts is.
And I'm actually comparing them with the Saber 1.0 because that one is shorter than the 2.0.
>>
>>11808363
As per >>11808359 I don't own a Saber, but if she truly is 154cm, then accurate 1/12 scale would make her 128mm. If the figure is taller than that, then it's just non scaled.
Bandai have be getting better at actually adhering to 1/12 scale recently, even if character proportions lead to some odd matches, but the heights are correct.

You remember wrong. Caster Artoria is another case of her being slightly oversized but not as much as people think. She wears higher heels than regular Saber so it makes sense for the figure to be slightly taller, so it doesn't look that off.

The whole point of this conversation is not if the Figuarts are accurate to 1/12 scale or not, but how accurate both of the articulated Frieren's look compared to most figmas. And it's clear to me that in that respect the Figuarts is undersized while the Figma is oversized but not as extremely as people think.
If Frieren is truly 150cm and Fern is half a head taller than her, it's impossible for Fern to be shorter than Saber, but the Figuarts clearly are. I'm using the original Saber Figma as a litmus test because she's one of the earlier figmas, can be compared to the shitton other Fate characters released (only Archer looks clearly undersized) and fits pretty nicely with the 100+ figmas I own.
Obviously your mileage may vary and you may like how the shorter Figuarts fits in your collection. That's totally fine. The only thing I wanted to say is that the Figma isn't as big as the Figuarts may make you think.

In the "Frieren TV Anime Companion Book Volume 2: The Magic to Understand Fern & Stark" released at the end of last year. That's why there's still some older estimates floating around ranging from like 4'10-5'4.
>>11808777
Even a lot of the older Fate figmas are closer to 1/11 than 1/12 when you plug their measurements into a scale converter, like Saber's 154cm=140mm exactly in 1/11, and the Frieren SHF is slightly small even by 1/12 scale, so it makes sense she wouldn't fit too well with most figmas if you take her actual height into account.

Sure, but the only thing I wanted is for people to understand that comparing it to the Figuarts can make the figma look way bigger than it is. That's all.
I don't know, the size increase really isn't as much of a big deal to me because it isn't something egregious like Plamatea or Act Mode.
If the main reason for not wanting to buy these was the ridiculous prices they have nowadays I would understand way better. As someone who has been collecting figmas since the very beginning of the line, back when you could get a regular one for 20 bucks and one of the wider boxes full of accesories for 24, that reason makes way more sense.
>>
>>11809093
That looks pretty much perfect to me. Frieren is supposed to be shorter than sabar and I dont know what age that fern figure is supposed to be, but arguably she would be the same height as saber barefoot.
The faces also look comparable, so overall I would argue that the shf frieren figures are a much better match to old figma than the new one.
Anything else is just figmafag cope.
>>
>>11809119
It just is way bigger than it's supposed to be. By a wide margin. Maybe the SHF is a slight bit too short (and Fern with her), but it's nowhere near the same amount.
That's another valid reason, but that applies to pretty much all lines, so not a reason to check out of Figma in particular so much as it is a reason to just stop collecting.
Figma's specific scale wonkiness based on arbitrary reasons is a much more specific reason to stop collecting them.
>>
>>11809191
>Frieren is supposed to be shorter than sabar
4cm of height difference doesn't look like that at all, thought.
>I dont know what age that fern figure is supposed to be but arguably she would be the same height as saber barefoot.
Imagine thinking that's not the grown up Fern that appears for most of the story. And you say people are coping.
Also she having the same height as Saber is pure nonsense, in the show she's way taller than Frieren and Frieren is supposed to be almost as tall as Saber. The Figuarts are too small when compared to other figures, period.
The funny thing is I don't even think the Figuarts are that bad and I don't care about the scaling, but criticizing the Figma for being too tall and then grasping at straws to defend the undersized Figuarts is just lying to yourself.
>>
>>11809093
Hmm. This picture has kind of made me go the other way into finding the SHF Frieren's height okay desu. Yeah, she's still a bit undersized and would've been perfect at 5mm taller, but the top of her head looks to come up to about Saber's eyebrows which is only like a 4-5 inch height difference in real life. The Fern on the other hand doesn't work at all unless you imagine she's the 15-16 year-old version that's 145-152cm.

Can't agree with your use of "slightly" and "heavily" here. Figuarts seems to be as undersized as the Figma is oversized. Nonetheless I can understand being able to see a smaller Frieren as "right" in most cases, but it really feels off when she's posed with another womanlet like Saber, and that Fern is always going to look undersized no matter what.
Seems to me not caring much about scale is the best way to enjoy these figures.

Finally released her from the box and I've been posing her a bit. It's been a while since I opened a figma were every single joint has the perfect tighness, and the Marvel Legends ab crunch not only works like a charm (contrary to some of the other figmas I own were it's pretty hard to move) but you can barely notice it's there due to how integrated it is to the shirt sculpt. Even the twintail joints, that looked a bit weird to me at first, are great. They give you a lot of flexibiliy when posing her hair, way more than I expected. At least for me the inclusion is totally worth it.
All in all, I'm really impressed with this release. Only thing that bothers me is the innacurate shirt collar, but other than that I'm really liking this figure way more than I expected.

File: Mage and knight.jpg (221.6 KB)

There's been a lot of discussion about her being too big in this and previous threads so I really wasn't expecting her to be shorter than Saber 2.0. Going by the official heights of the characters posted here she's really supposed to be slightly shorter, so this looks fine enough I guess.
>>
>>
>>11811045
>gigantic along with everything else
Nice exaggeration but the heights don't lie. If Saber is 154cm and Frieren is 150cm, that's pretty much how they would look side to side unless they got the characters proportions completely wrong, and other than Saber's stylized waist they seem accurate to their respective sources. Also you're forgetting taking the differences in art style into account, Frieren's faces are really round with smaller eyes compared to most other shows for example. Inconsistencies are going to show up.
If the Frieren figma was like a centimeter taller than Saber I would understand the criticism, but at this point it just feels like grasping at straws to justify your choice of not buying the figure or just legit scale obsession.

Not as much as I believed, I got her a suitcase and turn out it's too big!
>>11810975
Forgot to mention that changing hands is also pretty easy on this figma, and you can even pose the staff's ribbon. The detachable waist stays in place securely but isn't too hard to separate either. Haven't noticed any messed up paint apps. I really hope to see this level of quality more often, given the prices these have now it really should be the norm.
>>
File: IMG_8257.jpg (201.2 KB)

I think the problem is more in how Frieren is way wider than she should if you want those two to look good together. If you thin her out the height looks good with Saber, but as she is she looks off.

The mimic is a fun accesory to have. You can remove the plate with Frieren's fake torso and lower teeth so it can close, but don't expect storing bulky things inside as there's multiple plastic walls to hold the plate in place. They can work as compartments for very small things, though.

because figmas are just too expensive, having a little Kojima figure only really appeals to like 5 people and 3 of them are Kojima in different hats, but thats fine because a nendo of him can be cheap and customizers are probably happy to get parts of a "generic" japanese guy to work with.
Meanwhile a figma of him would probably have to be 10k and no one is gonna seriously buy that, had this been years ago and it would've sold for 5k then maybe.

Finally... I could use a win today.

Revy and Dante were both the low-end sculpt revos of the time.

simply put, early figmas when you look at them were cheap and not the highet quality with sculpt or paint but that wa fine because most figma were anime character who are by design simple, but the margin have gotten thinner, theres not a many collectors that want posable figures in Japan or West really, normies rather get statues, meanwhile figma improved their figures but this means higher costs and it just keeps spiraling, drop the small shows, only focus on surehits.
meanwhile most people rather get nendos because they're cute and cheap like figmas used to be.
Honestly, we posable anime figure fans are a dying breed, people younger than us have no money, figmas are getting more and more expensive, china is hitting hard with blokees, people got into model kits during the pandemic and gunpla blew up which is why blokees is coming in, all a bit sad really.

A shift towards poseable figures is definitely happening, especially in the West, but statuefags will always be the main market, sadly. I think Goodsmile just hasn’t got the access to IPs people love like companies such as Bandai does without bigger licence costs + the more work that has to go into engineering. I never expected revoltech to begin to mog figma with their character figures and range of IPs back in the day when the frauleins were all they had to offer, but here we are.
Also I think they’re probably raising their own costs by increasing figma size as each unit it will weigh more to either compete with the far cheaper sexy Chinese girl figures or to perhaps try to avoid QC issues on smaller molds.
