Though it's far from the masterpiece that is The Exorcist(the biggest issue was the editing and how some of the scenes kind of just don't flow naturally together because the pacing is absolutely relentless)this might be the most purely entertaining turn-your-brain-off exorcist/demonic possession film I've ever seen and I really enjoyed Russell Crowe and his fake Italian accent as the lead and all the hot girls. Sequel when? The image of fat Russell Crowe driving all the way from Italy to Spain on his little scooter got a laugh out of me too.

Nah, The Exorcist is timeless it's one of a handful of films I rewatch every year. It's surprisingly underrated these days. Maybe it's just all the atheists who think that stuff is inherently cheesy and don't like it when those types of movies take themselves too seriously, but I'm not a man of faith myself yet I still hold The Exorcist in high regard because it's just a really well made film both in and out of the genre. It works just as well as a character drama as it does a horror story in my book. You don't need to be religious to think it's a great film and for it to resonate with you at all.
>>
>>218143765
Something must be up for there not to be a sequel by now. It did great numbers and you know the studio must be eyeing it up for 4 sequels.
So much stupid shit in that film but the v heart of it is just Crowe being a charming fat Priest. It just works.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>218144566
They were blatantly sequel baiting with that ending teasing Father Gabriele and his priest sidekick travelling all over the world to defeat all the fallen angels and it really seemed like Russell Crowe enjoyed playing his role immensely. It wasn't a huge financial success but it made its budget back and was apparently a big hit on streaming but the last info I could find said it had entered production two years ago with no news on whether or not Crowe would actually return and there's been no further development since. Sony didn't even bother giving it a 4K release either and it's not even available for purchase on BD here in the UK which must mean they were disappointed it wasn't a bigger hit. I would still love to see fat Crowe riding his scooter again and battling more demons.
>>
>>
>>218144832
Anon, there’s a clearly positive correlation between the amount of religious horror films made after the year the exorcist was made. The exorcist is the film that every religious horror film wants to be.

No, it's saying William Peter Blatty who wrote John Goldfarb Please Come Home then wrote The Exorcist about the rape that happened during the production of John Goldfarb Please Come Home which was directed by J. Lee Thompson. So, Thompson would be the director in question

These are my favorite religious horrors so far though I've only seen like a dozen. Each one actually does something different and doesn't just try to be exactly like The Exorcist which is good since it's pointless to try to top it similar to Jaws and animal horror.
>Rosemary's Baby is pure slow burn psychological horror so if you're not into that don't bother. Great performance from Mia Farrow as the lead.
>Exorcist III is pretty underrated, Brad Dourif is intense and terrifying as the psychotic Gemini Killer and George C. Scott as the lead is also really excellent.
>The Rite is also underrated imo, Anthony Hopkins gave a stellar intense performance as always, although the lead actor wasn't as capable he was still fine and didn't really drag the movie down and I enjoyed the overall atmosphere.
>Emily Rose, I really liked the story being told gradually both in the present and in bits and pieces in flashbacks in a court room though I think the script could've benefited from being more ambiguous as to whether or not Emilywas really possessed or if she was actually just epileptic and delusional, really playing up the psychological angle to it all. Still both an intense legal drama and horror film and overall pretty decent with a very strong performance from Jennifer Carpenter and Laura Linney was also pretty good.
I thought The Last Exorcism was interesting with its FF angle but it was just kind of meh despite a strong performance from the possessed girl who also really gave it her all in the even shittier sequel. I don't mindbad endings where everyone diesbut not when it feels forced like it did there. Contortionists are quite something.

Personally I find it really weird how the gore bits of this film seem like they SHOULD have been in the original print and yet only appear on some home media prints of this one instead, makes me wonder if they were fully removed from the masters by the censorship visas but later home media releases managed to sneak them back in, since the music timing works perfectly with them along with the effects seeming too good to be made just for a vhs release, great film btw

I want to see the new Silent Hill, cuz I don't like going to theaters for over a decade now. Have never seen any Strangers after the first one with Liv Tyler.
>>
>>218150785
I have seen original Strangers in theaters. Good experience. And I have seen chapter 1&2.
1 is 0/10
2 is 6.6/10
I have seen Prey at Night and that one was pretty bad.
Also, you dont need a theater. You need a good sound system.
>>
>>218150785
Tons of idiots shit up the theaters now but I still head along a bunch. You'll probably hate the new SH but I thought it had a bunch to offer for people who aren't attached to the games.
The original two Strangers mog the shit out of the new trilogy, don't even bother.
Prey at Night is decent.

Very rarely will I sit through a whole movie and really regret it later. Normally I can tell when something is going to be shit or I won't like it and I just stop to save myself the time.
I decided to sit through this SHIT though and I haven't regretted a movie this badly in a long time. I am genuinely torn whether the director was masturbating the whole film or mocking the audience. The alien thing makes me think the latter.
>>
>>218154855
Strange film. Kind of grew on me as it went, kind of made me hate it. I can't even remember what I really thought about it in the end, I think I just decided it was empty to not think about and move on.
Apparently his other horror themed film Only Lovers Left Alive is decent, I have it on my watchlist.
Velvet Buzzsaw is kind of similar except by the end of it I was totally won over. Check that out if you haven't.

Another horror masterpiece from the Letterboxd Horror Top 250! A man in Nazi occupied Poland attempts to join the resistance but instead gets a job letting lice feed on his blood for a vaccine manufacturer. He experiences confusion about the identities of those close to him and the nature of right and wrong. Horror movie fans shouldn't miss it! A horror movie!

i've seen the red shoes, it's competent i guess, to me, it wasn't really something that stood out, i wouldn't put it up there with a tale of two sisters
hansel and gretel is not a film i'd recommend to people, i think it's among among the worst korean horror has to offer
regarding the rest i think i've heard of sorum and epitaph before but i've never seen them, and the rest are unknowns to me
if you want some recommendation of something that i rarely see people talk about much then i'd recommend white, one of the better k-horrors i've seen. rarely, if ever, spoken about
it's a cursed song movie. not just niche but also underrated in my opinion

Can't believe this show is still going honestly. I checked out after Hotel personally. It's a good show up until that point but I just stopped caring and thought it was a good place to stop and from what I heard the last few seasons have been pretty bad so it seems I made the right call just like when I stopped watching TWD after S07E01 just to get closure on that stupid cliffhanger. Maybe I'll give it a rewatch some day and just marathon through it all if I've nothing better to do.

It's because Ryan Murphy has had such success with stuff like Nip/Tuck, Glee, and the Monster series. He gets to do pretty much whatever he wants. Part 1 of last season was actually pretty good, but part 2 was abysmal. The season before was also awful. Personally I found Cult and 1984 to be highlight seasons. Season 13 looks like it's going to bring the witches back, and I've never been a fan of them so I don't really have high expectations.
He has a show called The Beauty which is airing currently, and it's pretty good. So he's still got it in him to make kino.

Ryan Murphy got replaced as showrunner on the last season with Kim Kardashian and it's the only season that was based on some book rather than an original story like the rest. Will he return as showrunner for the new one? Apparently Jessica Lange said she would never return in an interview just half a year before it was announced she would be returning kek so maybe there's some hope yet for the new season.

There are very few details confirmed so far except for some of the cast. A lot of people were surprised that Lange is returning because of that statement she made. Looking at the rest of the cast, it seems likely she's only coming back to join the rest of them in playing a recurring character. Like I said, I've never been a fan of the witches, but I'm hoping a return to form will open it up to further seasons of insane fun stuff like they used to do.

God I fucking HATE these faggot ass channels. I don't know what's worse those channels or those niggers who upload fake ass trailers of movies using footage from the last 2-3 movies. Every time I see shit like this I always fucking flag it.

The Sweeney movie is The Housemaid, there's a 1960 Korean film by the same name. Both are worth watching, The Handmaiden not in good company though.

Q-DAWG is 31. I know an older woman who I think is very attractive but I didn't know her exact age. Found out she's 46.. I thought she was like 40 at the oldest and now I don't think she's hot anymore. :(

Gonna be real, this wasn't too good even as a slow burn. You have to sit through the vast majority of the film to get to even a good part (the camera film from the lake) and it happens so briefly that it comes off as meh. It also leaves with a really lackluster ending/resolution of "she met her future death and became resigned to it". Its just all bleh
