Queen of /film/

If she's a queen, then why does she look so sad?
>>
I only watch movies where the filmmaker uses the same cadre of actors over and over again.
>>
>>218296709
Because people here refuse to get Rivettepilled.

Never in my life have I seen anyone defend or even discuss What (1972) starring Marcello Mastroianni.

Am I too retarded for not enjoying 2001 Space Odyssey?
>>
>>218297023
It's pure cinema. Try again later. See it on a theater screen. Take a tab of acid if necessary, it enhances the experience
>>
>>218297023
Nah, it's kinda boring at parts.
>>
>boring
That's a banned word here bucko
>>
>>218297182

I may try it again, but I honestly I don't see myself doing that any time soon.
I found some sequences hard to follow for how slow they were. Act 1 and 2 seemed enjoyable, also lovely camera shots with the 0 gravity + music. But after the HAL part things get very SLOW in outer space and boring + the weird ending didn't really make me go crazy

nta but having watched them both fairly close to each other I thought it was neat that film shared with Jacques Tourneur's Berlin Express a climax in which the criminal is thwarted by the reflection of a window on a parallel train car. pretty inventive and disorienting setup

I fell asleep when I saw 2001 in theaters kek it really is slow/boring.
>>
>>218296595
>Western. Very, very simple with a focus on side characters played by indifferent actors. Jazzed up with some nicely lit and framed pickup shots-I think that's Hoch won the Oscar for, over that very grey thunderstorm. Monument Valley looks nice. Really nothing to recommend this other than the cinematography, which doesn't even get that much of a chance to shine.

It's funny to copypaste excessively negative reviews of classic films by some randoms on letterboxd and present them as my own opinions.

>>218303738
I guess you were hoping somebody would catch it.

It's funny how they were, ironically, the only substantial posts out of the 312 posts in that failure of a thread.

If you're making this snarky remark about the post above yours, yeah that's me the same poster. But I'm not mad about that incident. I share interesting stuff, if anons watch it or not it's beneath me.

Four Nights of a Dreamer (1971)

The feeling of walking around aimlessly waiting for something to happen and imagining a person you don't know as your ideal savior hits too close.
