Their environment seems to be plains or steppe broken up by enormous mountain ranges suggesting cattle and dairy were the main local agricultural products. It does not seem like the ideal environment for grain, although grain was likely imported along the Anduin, the main artery for goods in Gondor. So their diet was probably quite ordinary, bread, meat and dairy, though fresh fruits and vegetables were rarer they might be grown in ad-hoc market farms or preserved substitutes also imported. It is likely the poor could afford relatively more meat than other peasants and being pastoral or urban they also had more freedom and were slightly less stricken with poverty than the peasants of the fields.
