Speed Demon is kino to me, sounds like a SEGA Genesis song. But Just Good Friends, I have no idea why that shit was on there. Dangerous is not a bad album but it’s very bloated, too long and too reliant on a New Jack Swing sound that has aged poorly. I think you could truncate the album and change some of the sounds to make it a very good piece of work

To each their own I guess. I love his campy cornball stuff on Bad given I think it gives the record a distinctly animated, energetic character his other albums don't really have, though I'll admit I Just Can't Stop Loving You is boring as hell.

I will say I thought that too about Dangerous until I started listening to it a little more. I initially only liked the Teddy Riley tracks (especially She Drives Me Wild, shocked it was never a single), but the ballads really grew on me with more listens. It's really only the UNESCO dogshit of Heal The World that nearly derails the record, though it's on par with his other stuff if you skip it imo.
As for HIStory yeah it sucks balls (Childhood especially is very creepy) apart from the megakino of Scream, TDCAU, and Stranger In Moscow, while I'd say BOTDF and Morphine are also very underrated (the latter espceially given it's a painfully sad song about his opioid addiction).
I also like Invincible much more than the two HISTorys though it's far from the masterpiece his fanboys say it is, while Xscape has some gems on it too.

I actually think this too. Cut out the Chris Tucker intro to Rock My World, drop Cry and Privacy and it actually might be his second best album. I think Speechless is my personal favorite song of his.

I've seen all three films. Under the Cherry Moon is great up until a certain point. It's awesome cause it's Prince's send up of classic Hollywood, which he's referenced with stars like Rudolph Valentino and Clara Bow in his songs. He even does the Bela Lugosi eyes in the movie. This might be a hot take but I really love New Jack Swing. I see it as the logical evolution and endpoint of the original Minneapolis Sound given it was essentially created by and perfected as a formula by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on picrel before being really popularized by Teddy Riley and Babyface later on when they worked with pop groups and boy/girl bands. I love the bright colors and angular design motifs as well as the nice balance of machismo and smoothness for male artists and the similar balance of sexiness and sophistication for the female ones.
I also think it's very interesting because it's basically the last Black musical movement before hip-hop completely took over, and it's sort of a glimpse into a Black pop art thing that we never really got afterwards when everything became distorted through the lens of hip-hop and criminality.

It's because Zoomers have become very attached to the idea of MJ as a countercultural figure that represents better times given he's seen as a mascot of a peak America we never experienced and likely never will experience again. Him being a great musician/visual artist in his own right with a deep career that runs from the 60s to the 00s while also having a mountain of deeplore from the comical to the disturbing helps keep that attention on him and adds to the mythos surrounding him much like the transgressions of the Gods in antiquity.
If you want an anecdotal sample from me of how deep this Michaelmania is among Zoomers, I went to the club area of my college town that hosts a large university last Friday that's almost all White/Mexican/Jeet. MJ was playing everywhere from restaurants and convenience stores to clubs and blasting out of packs of dudes in cars, while the club would light up anytime one of his songs would play and everyone would sing along. I don't think there's anyone right now with that level of rabid popularity even alive, and the fact that he's experienced this massive wave of popularity after being dead for decades is a testament to how this isn't just some normal movie boost but rather signifies the sense of generational disillusionment with the world and country we live in to where we look to the past for greatness instead.

I think Brad Buxer put some of MJ's sounds in the game or something like that. What I do remember for sure is that the end credits music at the end of Sonic 3 is inspired by MJ's song Stranger In Moscow. I will also mention that I love the MJ version of the Sonic 3 soundtrack as well as the prototype version of the Sonic 3 soundtrack but I prefer the MJ version of the Sonic 3 soundtrack, ESPECIALLY Ice Cap Zone and Launch Base Zone.
