>>4416050 >all of the couples from girls with guns series The fact that the Gunsmith Cats OVA never materialized into a full anime adaptation is one of the greatest crimes in anime history
>>4416211 It's only because it was an OVA that it looked that good, also isn't Rally Vincent a lesbian but never gets a girl throughout the main series and burst?
>>4416050 Yomi/Kagura I loved Ga-rei Zero - the manga not so much. A prequel novel came out in 2022 written by the anime director, but I haven't been able to find a rip or even buy it.
>>4416860 >>4416938 >have the easiest recipe for a successful franchise with a clear audience in mind >fuck it up by shoehorning things that yuri fans dont like
>>4416985 I'm talking about the mudmen molesting Mirei in one episode and the tentacles in the finale, also the whole Mamori crushing on a "guy" was totally pointless and just served for cheap drama If you're going to make your franchise about an all-female cast where they power up by kissing and fondling each other, dont include hetshit bait
>>4416985 >>4416987 VDM was only watched by fujoshis in Japan so I doubt they feel uncomfortable with mud men and tentacles, those are pale compared to their perversions. From a commercial pov, I think the problem was that it was too hard for male otakus to believe the girls were pure maidens after they have loud orgasms. Still love the show, especially the English dub where Mirei and Mamori gets a love confession.
>>4417061 Mamori was a self-insert for the fujo audience. She was a bicurious retard that was bullied in high school. Fujos could relate
>>4417056 >they didn't have a clear audience in mind back then >initial PV had both the main couple of the game and anime making out and being lovey dovey with each other >>4417070 >VDM was only watched by fujoshis in Japan so I doubt they feel uncomfortable with mud men and tentacles but we are not fujos, that shit is not acceptable in yuri
>>4416050 Can't post pics because rangebans but I will love to post the Madlax ships, they're the ones with the less content on the internet. >>4417076 The yuri market wasn't established back then, someone needs to make a timeline about how the market evolved so we can judge some stories based on their historical context.
>>4417076 Well that's why those fujoshi are good. I agree they shouldn't have done those two scenes that way but fujos didn't throw the baby out with the bath water and made a bunch of really good fan content instead of going "oh no, this show is impure and forever tarnished".
>>4419380 I don't even get why Ken Akamatsu didn't have the decency to say these two specifically got married to each other. He already had Negi be with a girl he really didn't interact with on a personal level till after the plot ended, so it's not removing members of the harem. Why couldn't those two who obviously were in love with each other say they got married.
>>4417070 Why do you think they were fujos and not himejoshis, or women who are neither? A lot of japanese yuri fanartists draw futa, they love dicks and wouldn't mind the mudmen or the "governor".Some even draw regular het.
>>4419818 I agree "fujoshi" is a bit overused to refer to "any female otaku who is into male characters" (especially when quite a few are yumejoshi who like them as husbandos), but look at Pixiv's top "popular among female users" results for Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid. Can be a bit skewed by roleplaying westerners faving random porn, but just on page 1, all of these artists are at the very least also into yaoi if not focused on it:
>>4419952 Because yaoi and fujoshi art styles are often seen as either overrated or celebrated, yuri art sometimes relies on their influence to gain more visibility — which can be both limiting and helpful.
>>4419978 I mean, just drawing in a really generic hyper-rendered "top Pixiv illustrations" male art style would probably get the most attention on Pixiv, doubly so after the aforementioned influx of western accounts. If anything the yaoi vibes limit viewership but that's just how they draw.
Miraliko has had a recent spinoff anime. But they're still my favourite yuri pairing of all time and there's not enough appreciation for them in the west
>>4420050 I really like when Ellis pulled out the fork when asked if she had a weapon. Very nice callback to Noir. And then she brings out a second one.
>>4436045 No because one is just a stupid long-spanning 4chan meme of claiming "ERM actually the, heh *snorts*, 'weird' things I masturbate to are in fact drawn by women, good sir" in all contexts and the other is based on a lot of fujo artists actually legitimately liking Valkyrie Drive and drawing fan art >>4419952
>>4436213 It got referenced in Rock wa Lady no Tashinami just yesterday. Clearly it has some staying power to still be treated as relevant 16 years later, alongside shows aired only a few years ago.
>>4469776 The next time you want to bump a thread from page 11 in order to kill another one, make sure to write a worthwhile post, or at least post a picture.
>>4458657 This is seriously underrated. I find curious it wasn't rare to find yaoi couples on yuri back then and even yuri couples on yaoi. The genre was still attached to its shoujo roots
No Kiddy Grade in this thread?? Also damn what the hell even was this name
>>4446394 BRS has lost some of its mystique over the years
The entire franchise spawned from random ass art by huke and then that art spawned the song and so on, all during a time when the internet was not nearly as commercialized and consolidated as it is now.
Even if it is arguably easier than ever for indepdendent creators to go big now, that sense of wonder from the early internet days just isnt quite the same.
>>4489945 I still have this stupid show's OP in my phone I ended up dropping the show early since it really was not that great and I remmeber it not going anywhere relationship wise either
>>4419936 Crazy how I think about Kirika and Mireille every so often, but when it comes to these two nothing comes up even when I tell myself they're the more yuri pairing. I did try watching this show twice, but could never finish it. Maybe I just couldn't move on from Noir. I did finish Madlax, but I don't remember the plot.
>>4489962 I miss them. That was almost the perfect yuri drama except for lacking an explicit sex scene. I went looking in my archives for the pages from that dojin where they fuck each other using the silencers on their handguns as dildos. Trying to show the other they were in complete control and would not pull the trigger even when they orgasmed. And they are missing. Somehow in the various times I have had to copy my files from one dying PC to another over the last two decades I have lost them. What a tragedy.
>>4497949 >https://exhentai.org/g/318293/66b34f5a2d/ >>4497945 Oh, those were all the frames of the sex scene. I thought Kirika had a turn on top with Mirielle, but that must have been a Mandala effect or something. Kirika too much of a bottom.
>>4501139 I don't think a happy ending makes a couple somehow more forgettable, that's a weird standard. Plenty of the most popular yuri couples had a happy ending. The only thing that usually gets nerfed by clean happy endings without loose strings is that there will be less fanfics. Fanfic writers really get going when they have something to "fix".
