So playing through Calamity Angels, it really feels like generic iF/Compile Heart slop, though somewhat more fun and unique. I can't really see much yuri here, even on a subtextual level. I thought it would be pretty much heteronormative... but then I got a delivery from an old artist talking about delivering a present to his HUSBAND?? So this game is willing to have gay representation after all.
I'll keep an eye out for something /u/ relevant after all.

I'm really interested in this game. Will come out in October. It's a "life sim", but it has a heavy combat focus and is full of eldritch horror stuff. The datable villagers are also all kinds of weird and punkish.
Synopsis: "Neverway is a blend of horror, life sim, and action RPG. After Fiona quits her job, she starts over on a farm and becomes the immortal herald of a dead god. Keep your life from falling apart while searching for Neverway, a nightmare reality that is slowly leaking into yours."

The fact that it's a defined female protag already elevates it above most farming sims for me. Having good action gameplay and a horror theme is just the cherry on top.

I think just by virtue of being an unhinged unrestricted insane asylum where anything you want can happen, the new Tomodachi Life is an easy recommend.
You can populate your entire island with girls (I recommend basing them on yuri characters) and just see the soap opera drama unfold. There are no gender restrictions on romance.

Even if there's nothing for someone with some extreme niche taste looking for something very specific, it's still good to see a lot of new games because this means devs who do something are visible and industrious. One day, even (You) will find the perfect game for yourself.

Finished Burning Shores.
The chemistry between these bums did not get better but I relented and chose the kiss option anyway. They need to give players some more options in the sequel, like Talanah, shit I'll even take Petra. Shame that is probably another 5 years away thanks to all the resources being funneled into the multiplayer game.

I heard from reviews that they kiss in the end. Though even what little story I've gotten so far is pretty gay.

Any variant of RPG seems like a good choice, they can have a good balance of story and gameplay, just because it's an RPG doesn't mean it has to be an RPGMaker game.
Ideally I'd go with an SRPG like Final Fantasy Tactics, it's more interesting mechanically and you can field more characters at a time, which means you get to see more yuri couples in action, but they shouldn't be generic units with procedural dialogues or something, that would be bland.
I know there's some Fire Emblem games like that, but those relegate the romance to a few optional scenes which isn't very satisfying, or even restrict the yuri to a generic protagonist unit.

Set Yourself On Fire finally released. It's a VN I've been keeping an eye on. If you are into melancholy love stories then this is my recommendation. The setting of urban decay and dying cities somehow always get under my skin. There are few things more existentially disconcerting than a place that's meant to be bustling, slowly falling apart.
This work definitely borders on pretentious sometimes, but I think it's more genuine than overly artistic.
