I don't think they are going to adapt the SMG story in this movie though. Like it looks like it's a brand new story so far with the only shared point being that at a point Peach's castle gets lifted, but even that ends up being totally different from the games since the castle seems to fall in some random planet instead of being taken by Bowser, who isn't even the main villain.

I'd bring back Negative Zone. Peach's final smash can change into something a little more useful. Just make it Showtime related or something. Where does the belief zoomers have that Bowser is a "good dad and king" come from? Bowser barely cares when his son gets blown up to falls into a black hole and the literal first time he ever interacting with one of his minions in a game was him crushing Kamek in Yoshi's Island, in general in RPGs he is a rowdy bully to them most of the time with very rare moments of genuine respect.

The character barely shows those traits, and when he does, they're not even consistent. Like the way he acts in SMRPG towards them is just not at all the way he talks and acts in PM1 and PM2.

Normal luma types don't have mouths, they make noises without mouths. They're mouths aren't invisible when closed, they just don't have them. Hungry lumas and Lubba have mouths all the time whether closed or open.

That's a stylistic choice. Rosalina's storybook shows that yes, all lumas do have mouths. And in the book, it shows Baby Luma with and without a mouth so it's not a stylistic choice exclusive to the book. So yes, all lumas obvious have mouths. The movie just chose to make them a standard part of their appearance to make lumas more expressive.

It's a massive stretch for Phantos as it's not even something related to Mario 2 but Luigi's Mansion Ghost Guys. Especially since as the image says they're creations of Van Gore and not actual Shy Guy ghosts.
I wonder if Van Gore was only in Luigi's Mansion to reduce the amount of implied death, the portrait ghosts were actual humans but still it's really unnecessary for the regular ghosts to be creations.

I don't care if the lumas have mouths or not 'in the lore', I said it was a mistake to give them mouths visually because it makes them look ugly and generic. The movie make some nice visual decisions there and there like Bowser's shoulder green scales or making Mario's gloves textured like work gloves instead of Mickey Mouse gloves but they also keep doing these things that make things supposed to be cute uglier. Peach's face in movie 1 was flat out gross and she still looks shitty in some shots of the new movie.

Lol no it wasn't. Not because of the lack of mouths, but because the Lumas in SMG1 have little to zero personality and you get zero interaction with the baby one that follows you til it's time for it to sacrifice itself. That ending has always been super weird. It's like the random "o noe fludd might die?!!?" part of Sunshine's ending except even more absurd.
