we see things equipped to the back pylons, but we don't get to see them used, so they weren't even done with core mechanics
we are not even sure what kind of game it is, it might have stuff like base building or it might just be a linear campaign or anything at this point because they've shown nothing and said barely anything
look at splat3 reveal trailer- they have shown off new spawn system, rolls, surges, stringer and even zooka, out of new mechanics they only skipped out on the swords; s2 trailer has shown off dullies, curlings, roller and charger changes and every single new special, only brellas got skipped
the only reason to demonstrate a game without complete confidence in underlying mechanics and willingness to demostrate it is desperation to grab/retain attention, and even that is backfiring now

you got your layers, you got your cream, you got ganache, you got the whipped cream, you got a strawberry to top it, all the ingredients you need for an excellent cake
but then you just haphazardly toss it together into one bowl, shake, and serve as-is, with all the semi-liquids mixed up, all the layers crumbling into bits and mixing in too, and the strawbery buried somewhere in the middle (and you didn't even rip the leaves off it)
it's still tasty, you can pick up bits of the cake and dip it into the resulting concoction, but it would've been so much better if they had the discipline to actually assemble the components they had into an actual cake

the only thing that really got raped by nerfs in splatoon's history was dynamo in transition to 2, but it got better with gradual buffs and was largely balanced by the end of that game. not good- balanced.
aside from that, splat brella got a lot of nerfs but kept on trucking just fine until 3 powercrept its nerfed state, squelchies got siphoned into a state so perfectly mid that they got zero patch notes throught all of 3, clash got raped by buffs, aero got kicked around for a while after baller meta, 99.9 came and gone and so did the nerfs that came with it for the most part, ballpoint and explosher got toned down from their overtuned release states, there weren't really any really big nerfs to mains other than d-dong, and even that one was more of a complete rework on par with transition from ds from squelchies, just starting off undertuned rather than overtuned.
