Announcements of Disappointment
>Mysteries of TN's Skills
So the mystery skills that give untouched onmyo? Have different percentages. Onmyo magic is 25% meanwhile summoning seals are 20%. Secondly, Awakening only boosts buff duration by 10% (we'll get to seppuku later).
>Seals
While onmyo magic is boosted by generic damage boosts like Carnage/Amrita Absorption, not the case with seals. Why? No fucking clue, maybe they were just extremely afraid of seals being good considering you get a ton more Onmyo casts + more untouched onmyo when compared to what you get with Seals. And they actually apply elemental effects unlike most seals too.
>Effect Duration
So the bugfix they said about the affix not showing the right number? Yeah they only intended for every single source to give single digit percentages to duration. True Pure Land? 6%. Writing Set? 2%. Hotei? 3%. Fucking why. I can maybe get True Pure Land, the duration is on both forms but honestly it'd be nice if there was some nice splash sets for the other forms to really allow specialization, Ninja has a couple of decent bonuses while Samurai has nothing (and you could've just let things like the sensor bonuses be universal, doesn't even need to be damage bonuses). And even then you didn't have to fucking torpedo the affix to be so mind-boggingly, soul-crushing, scampuss-plush-grabbingly ass. Why not just half, let it where if you go True Pure Land it's 30% to the effects, or stacking it on Hotei for 60% or so. Between this and Ebisu I'm wondering if any grace that isn't just damage boosts were tested at all because this can't matter. Collectively these bonuses would only give you a second on a 10 second buff, was 5 seconds for complete dedication too much?

DLC wants and hopes?
I've been hyping myself up over a Russo-Japan War DLC that will never happen. Fighting Roman Isidorovich Kondratenko during the Siege of Port Arthur. Friendly duel with Nogi Maresuke. Russians using enemies ported in from Wo Long because it's happening in Manchuria. Side missions with the spirit of Lafcadio Hearn where you get acces to a skill book that gives you the RoTR barehanded moveset. Reintroduction of bayonets and ox tail blades. It's straight never ever tier because China would throw a fit over having any sort of representation of Japanese occupied China, even when they're not in the story at all and it's just Russia vs. Japan.

But again, why would it be framed around the Americans? You guys submitted into the war at literally the last minute, fucked up everywhere and then acted like you'd singlehandedly fought and won the entire thing with no help from anyone else.

I'll admit to modern Japanese history being a blind spot to me so my view is more mechanical desires.
>Return of the Abyss
I think having something like Wo Long's Journey or just porting the abyss from Nioh 2 (preferably this would be the free update content side of things to complement the expansion-sized DLCs) would be really nice. I think it'd be nice to have tightly designed encounters again almost like some of what the final story mission has to throw but with returning faces from Nioh 1/2. New weapons should be a given considering past Nioh DLCs and the time between them being long (dlc 1 is coming September and DLC2 is next Feburary), I'm thinking they're making them in the vein of Shadow of the Erdtree in terms of scope.
>>
>Damage (Equipment Weight) Title Bonus
Don't sleep on this for it's a universal multiplier, boosts not just weapon damage but things like Ninjitsu and Onmyo magic. Obviously can't boost Seals damage because fuck you. For Ninja it's about 2.5% extra damage if wearing 15.2 units of armor (Kusarigama master + black fox helm), recall Samurai maxing out at about 3% if in very heavy armor.
>All Ablaze
It's just a 10% damage boost, solid if you want to preserve onmyo slots but Carnage is a lot more damage (48.5% more damage).
>Oda's clan bonus
Nobunaga are you having a fucking giggle mate? Is this how you get your sick kicks in the afterlife? 1% MORE CONFUSION?
>Clan Questions
Got Elder in Kazizaki and eying a few clans. Sadly no one in the internet has Elder Numbers.
>Shinsengumi
I remember one anon mention this is only a 10% DMG boost now, was that at Elder or a lower rank?
>Toyotomi
How much life per amrita at the end? So far impressed with Ho and wondering if that can be my form of healing for my tank build (or at least, better paired with lifesteal on my weapons).
>Kato
How much did they have before compared to current? I know the soul cores got 30% less for their affixes (8.5 -> 5.5% per).
>Miyoshi
How much ki recovery speed do they max out with?

>Talismans
So all of the one-sword damage boost effects (Carnage/Power/Amrita absorb) do boost ninjitsu/Onmyo. Last Stand doesn't stack with Carnage for onmyo damage but does for melee-centered builds, just note you don't proc critical effects.
>Ninjitsu did you know
Remember to if you can aim for the back on enemies, despite them being pure elemental damage they can get the backstab ninja gets innately (and boosted with certain sets/clan bonuses).
>Spells
Triple Hell (elec/wind/fire) to be lazy. Spark is your big nuke laser, fire/wind are AOE centered. If more extended routes than Explosive Shot/Thunderstorm/etc. are good too add onto this. All of this damage boosting doesn't affect seals so they're in shit creak as KI DMG at best.
>>558631370
>SpoilerYou just fight the three demons from kunimatsu's mind, there's no 4th gotcha boss like with Takeda.
Final little note for any yasakani farmers, revenants can drop Yasakani/divine accessories so wherever you're crucible farming, they're good to pick up especially with the generous glory you're getting.

Sacrifice the slot
I haven't run an expedition on the patch just yet but the amount of glory pre patch even if it was multiplied by 3 isn't enough to sustain regular use of the mats you'll use crafting them
And I'm fairly certain none of the sudama have them in unlimited stock.
>>
>>558632129
>>558632428
>Addendum
Onmyo damage is still boosted by Talisman of the Fist if you are "equipped" with your bare arms, other forms of bare-fist damage boosting should also work for onmyo but this is very likely to get patched unless the code is THAT spaghetti.
>>558632884
I'd say sacrifice the slot compared to the consumables but note if you're playing Ninja, there's a skill (Shadowclad) and a spirit (Tengen Kujuku) you could use to explore elemental weapons without needing to do either. Former is very short duration but flexible with guardian spirit/shadow art while the later lasts a while but you're stuck with no good guardian skill to burst counter with.

Yes, my original testing was with Tatenashi and I think the two combined barely gave 5% but on its own was 3%. Will note that Kusa is the heaviest ninja armor aside from maybe the Sohaya set, shit's practically heavy armor.
>>
>>
>>558635852
Yeah and when he starts his attack combos it's baffling how long it takes him to finish. Just very boring and annoying in a small arena. Some of the attacks are easy to evade/jump but the penalty for getting hit is being insta-killed by the rest of the combo.
>>
>>558633129
Shadowclad is extremely low value in both applying ailment, triggering spirit force (element) passive, and doing actual damage.
I'm pretty sure it's primarily there to make one of the masteries easier to trigger.
>>
>>558637506
Elemental weapons from my experience generally suck ass in all of those things (the 29% from skill and weapon being the way it works for Tengen Kujuku), Shadowclad is mostly there to make sure you have something on to help keep the element on after your calamity got the proc, especially if using Inari as it's an aggressive way of doing it (already want to do ninjitsu for ki-regen reasons).

In my own opinion, the elemental buffs are actually pretty great this time unless the boss resists the element
Usually at this stage of the game if you hit with something like a 1kat strong heavy the elemental damage wouldn't amount to shit. Here it's a pretty sizable chaser. Inari a whole other beast though since it doesn't give a shit what strength that elemental buff is, just that you have one.
>>558638303
Eh. It's not like you've gotta play it everyday
When I play I'm just redoing missions, running solo expeditions, smashing crucibles, and the other typical base game nioh shit. If that's not enough then just put the game down until the DLC comes out.

Only really tried for 1 since I had everything but 1 and I thought " I might as well"
And they are easier than 1 and 2 because hotsprings et all are shown on the map or after you redo a crucible while also not having the trash grinding ones
>Get all the mystic arts (go grind proficiency)
>Have enough Oboroguruma's show you their ass a dozen times
>Bathe in every bath in every stage and every DLC
>Redo the Nightmare bringer rematch 3 signs, summoning a different NPC each time
And other shit I can't remember off the top of my hair

Don't let the general last longer than it needs to. Once discussion dries up you let this shit die.

More guardians, more guardian skills that are cool and snappy.
Also I think a small overhaul of soul cores is in order, so that they actually feel good to deploy in combos. Some of the lesser ones with more uses suffer from this because it feels awful to get stuck in this damn jogging animation just for flying bolt to gently slap an enemy and go away. Soul cores feel much better to use if you cancel them with a guardian spirit even though the speed ends up the same. They need to do something about the recovery.
Content-wise? Wish we got more antiquity
>>
some times I wonder if we really do miss yokai skills despite only a real handful being used
maybe its why they thought it was okay with guardian spirit skills
maybe we'll get another quick n snappy one when we get a slew of third buttons
>>
>>
>>558644452
The only good Yokai skills to me were
>Enki (jump evasion + long range)
>Mizuki (fodder/human clearer + mid range sweep)
>Ippon-Datara (pounding down fodder/human)
>Kasha (did good ki damage)
>Mitsume Yazura (good for building up burn with Kasha)
Then just slotted in a random sixth depending on their stat boosts.

That's a combination of two things. One of which probably maybe will be fixed. The summon time and the recovery. .
This is also why I think movement during soul cores should have been a skill
You can get the same shitty experience with volitional Onmyo and volitional Guardian spirit
If you move, they take longer than regular use and you lose cancel windows due to said movement.
Right now it's in this fucked up position where it both has a stringent timing to get a fast cancel (especially with the more the merrier).
Much like hatchets not scaling properly with elements (and I won't forgive the anon that tried to gaslight me saying that shit was fine and working as intended in Nioh 2among other things that turned to be bugged afterall, No I won't let that shit go), I've sent bug reports in Japanese to the usual channels for the movement shit.
I'm not too irate about it not being cancellable with a normal attack and necessitating spirit force usage
But, movement cucking the cancel points shouldn't be a thing.
The other issue is that if you cancel it too fast when you DO stand still you can sometimes negate the use of the box. This feels like shit. If you press that button that soul core should always be on queue to come out no matter what happens. I don't give a fig if that fucks with crouch cancelling.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>558642852
Seals don't feel satisfying to use because it's directly taken from SoP's summoning bells, which weren't a central feature of that game. It was a small gimmick they added to summon Gilgamesh or one of your monster pets, the clunkiness there wasn't as much of a big deal because you could get past all of the quirks in that game by stacking different types of haste and invincibility.
>>
>>558646347
>by stacking different types of haste and invincibility.
Felt more compulsory to defense stack in that game than any other.
It was extremely hard to survive a single hit from anything come final DLC through raw stats alone.

I personally used Kiryoki, Yasha, Magatsu, Kamaitachi, Underworld Soldier, White Lion, Fuki, Kinki, Nurikabe, Nue and many more all the way through endgame. Soul cores and similar cancels are not necessary for Nioh combat to be good but it's a waste of a system if they still design one for every single yokai in 3 and make them so clunky to use.
>>558645397
I've also noticed the running locking you into the animation and the early cancel part. The thing is, even if they don't want to alter the general balance of the cores, they could always just introduce more convenience via secret skills so they become an investment. The way things are I actually think being able to cancel the animation with a dodge would be fine. You'd have to be mindful not to dodge too early so that the summon does come out, and getting early recovery means you spend ki on dodge. It's still a tradeoff
>>
>>558646715
Skills are the other part I've got a bone to pick about. But I'm usually wary of stating opinions like that until I've more thoroughly explored mechanics
But the more the merrier costing 4 is a bit of a joke. Due to the window of vulnerability there are almost no situations where you're at an advantage stopping your offense to summon one and, against human bosses, will eat shit for doing so.
Summoning basics being 9 fucking slots is insane given how low impact some soul cores are. Mysteries of summoning being a bit weak is one thing (it makes up for it by having an entire clan dedicated to more untouched) but that shit is 6 slots to and it is NOT equal to Mysteries of Onmyo magic when that's a higher value and results in higher damage.
That said we've been here before. It'll eventually get it's buff, if not in the coming months than when the DLC lands. So I'm not that worried longterm.
>>
>>
>>558647664
We're saying the same thing, anon.
Though I guess I should have used the adjective "slightly makes up for it"
But as I said that shit is NOT equal to Mysteries of Onmyo magic. A lot of the 1 costs makes me think they balanced amounts with summoning basics in mind, because there's no hemisphere where the demon of pride is worth only having 1 stock of. It can barely even apply an element, barely touches max ki, and does very low damage.
>>
>>558647947
Yeah I am agreeing with you, I guess I just sort of summarized it. The actual power aside, I've lost count how many cores made me go "wait, that's it?" Some are also incredibly tricky to use because they have low range, which is terrible in the context of their casting speed

Stone Volley has okay utility for its massive range, has a really good chance on popping any yokai weak point lacks damage for the charge time
Undaunted follow up is okay if you actually block something with the new buffed undaunted, damage and ki damage is low despite the simularities to a certain 1kat move
Ground sweeper is your best ki damage and beats a lot of other weapon's options for some reason keeps you comically mobile
Soaring Fowl is what the old pole vault wanted to be, with actual damage and dodge follow up
that one jump hold attack will miss a lot more then normal strong in the air for some reason
the damage is okay for what it is.

I run this build. As much elemental damage stacked on, not focused on one single element using the Thunder and Water Hatchets. It is a very effective mixed melee/ninjutsu playstyle. Stack all the elemental damage skill points with that GS and Shadowclad. Not having a solid burst counter GS move is abosolutely a valid point, and does suck.
>Open with GS weapon buff
>Melee to proc status
>Different element Calamity
>Melee to ensure status proc if not done with 1 Calamity
>Different element Calamity
>Melee combos until Confusion 2 wears off
>Repeat
It also helps the elemental Active Skills do fuckloads more damage. My Hatchet Lightning sheathe attack hits for thousands even without Confusion 2, just as an example. It is not as effective as just spamming Calamities and Onmyo. But it is a very fun mixed style that, I feel, allows for use of the entire Ninja kit. I wanted to make as close to a classic "Spellblade" as I could, and that is what I came up with.
I use the Sinister Tyrant set as well. Spirit Force Ignition is constantly applied to all elemental damage, so it buffs the entire kit. It does require as much Spirit Force recharge as you can. Also, I dont recommend using the Fire Calamity because enemies standing in the fire pools drains Spirit Force crazy fast. I stick with the other 3 Calamaties or even Fire Shuriken as their total damage is pretty damn good for how fast they recharge.
If anyone has any tips as to the the best way to keep Spirit Force topped up with specific armor stats, please let me know.

I'm biased as a ninja gaiden fan but I fucking loved it and it is fun.
Maybe not worth the full price considering "people" these days just don't like games that aren't bloated (though it is a lower budget game) and expect every games to play the same as the last. They skip over the tutorials and wonder why it's so hard because there's a lot of depth that's just hidden behind seemingly simple controls, a bit like how it doesn't look like ki pulsing does anything important at first.
The Dlcs are coming out soon maybe there will be a bundled sale, if you're not gonna pirate

They're deflect bait as long as you stay close, giving them too much range has them do their elemental ranged attacks and the spinning 4 hit attack. Deflect or block their attack then hit them with one or two attacks, getting greedy lets them punish you. When they do the fast 3 hit combo you can deflect the first then just hold down block and block the last two then counter.

Two main pieces of advice are Spirit Force (Evade), I've found that on pants or something is really good, and also Titles. Ninja has spirit force for Ninjitsu, I find that with the calamities makes maintaining Tengen a breeze.

I still just can't believe how much fucking ass they made odachi suck in this faggot ass game.
I'm trying to make inari/kintaro/wote work and it's just not fucking happening.
Even this first fucking faggot in the Shinsengumi boss rush is completely impossible.
-48% damage whike attacking? Nah man get two-shot.
+21% martial art damage +21% elemental weapon damage? Thunderbolt barely fucking tickles him, even he even chooses to attack into it. NPCs have always input read so bad it's just a joke.
Only thing I have to even break guard is Ground Sweeper, which I hate.
Meanwhile nin1kat is still justbfucking braindead, even without using the overpowered as fuck Calamatous ninjutsu.
I'm so fucking butthurt, man.

From what I heard, likely need testing (I'm back in the grinding chamber after whiffing a bloodedge demon spawn), melee is more "Quick and Strong" attack damage rather than the universal damage boost it was in Nioh 1/2. Again, I'd suggest testing on Training Ground to confirm if this is the case.
Another thing to consider is the idea of stacking multipliers. To my understanding different damage buffs stack multiplicatively. Inari is so good because it's a 28% DMG boost after all other multipliers are applied, so it's not diminished because of martial arts damage or Equip Weight Bonus or Amrita Gauge bonus or so on.

Good news for you I do have two odaichi builds in the back so once I have the money (mainly farming now aside from my last yasakani), I can either join you in lamenting the pool noodle of a weapon or be a bundle of advice on making it shine. And I say this because one, he is light armor mcgee so combos should be possible to play with, and two, I have had experience with Odaichis from Nioh 2 so it's familiar territory (barring they're hated on as much as splitstaves).
>>
>>
>>
>>558721189
I've mulched that man with ninja 2kat and they don't have good stagger/block pressure (let alone sam 1kat/switchglaives/tonfas/sam 2kat which all have gross mixups you can do against the AI). I can see issues with odaichis being slow but against an odaichi wielder it's likely more positioning to get the good punishes, again, open to them sucking but I also have experience with other weapons some say are mid but are actually good (switchglaives in fact kick ass, being able to use the skills as combo enders is so nice alongside Cylcone wind spam).
>>558721925
There's technically two odaichi lads in the mission, the first two are both odachis (first one is thunderbolt/groundquake lightning and the 2nd one is cuckoo's call fire). Of the non Okita group the 2kat that gave me most trouble, cuckoo's call can punish me when I was being greedy but the 2kat just seemed to have a higher toughness value compared to the others.

I'm not upset at the dragon horn loops, I'm upset at your negative sauce associated with it. GS skills combo extend because they start ki-regen.
>>558723720
Then it seems I'm looking forward to something good because testing 2kat on raw Swallowtail gear and it's doing amazing in the game-feel department. My advice if having issues is that Sign of the Cross Pierce is bait, you want it fast. God of the Wind (wind) might also be bait because its accumulation is non-existent but I am using 156+2 weapons so maybe at +15 it's worth being slower? Momentum is great, it lasts a good bit of time and removes the ki-issues that could come up going for extended pressure. And finally, if against a block heavy opponent, don't be afraid to high stand to start the Winter Wind blender.

I had zero issue with any of the human bosses that didn't have hyper armor but I also played tonfas. Mountain Breaker -> Demon Dash -> Pulverize (loop Demon Dash and Pulverize to ki break) -> light attacks on ki break -> grapple before ki recovers (Kannagi into Demon Fang if you're in the middle of a Pulverize) -> strong attack but maybe you can Mountain Breaker or Focused Strike -> final blow on the ground -> back into Demon Dash and start the Pulverize guard break loop. It's a straight up TOD combo for every single human enemy without hyper armor. For the ones with it you only need to learn one or two instances of Kannagi on their usually pretty slow and/or predictable combo interrupters. Okita Soji will always do his slow overhead hyper armor swing at the same intervals when you're wailing on his guard for example.

they made it insanely fun in this game with the additions to samurai being able to combo moves from other stances + they removed the limit on sunset breeze/waking winds combos so you can just chain them forever if you want
it also just got some of the best new moves in 3 compared to the other samurai weapons
it's the best I LOVE THE ODACHI
>>
>>558724728
not as bad as people make it out to be but still definitely the weakest weapon (at least of the ones ive played)
needs a lot of its skill shifted around to different inputs/stances and either a big damage buff or a big ki usage reduction
also bring back bolting boar on yokai

SotC Pierce is good, the minimally charged version has good forward movement on it while normal SotC doesn't have movement when minimally charged. It's still very fast overall, only the max charged version feels a little slower but it has more reach in exchange. GoW Wind is also fine, it's a little slower but it hits a bit harder while having a small AOE with that cool tornado. I actually have both versions of GoW set, Wind in mid stance and normal in low stance.
>>
>>558725080
>Pierce
From my experience I prefer the damage of going full charge especially since I'm using it as a pressure tool so going too far could make me drop things. Can see that I'm losing out on backstab damage but I believe the pressure too good to pass up. Maybe in optimization (my shit is not reforged and have 99 magic for vassal-related reasons) I can get more comfortable for it. Currently testing Water Sword and actually being impressed with it. never my cup of tea in other games but cancelling into any skill really gave life for Samurai.

Has harder waves and typically ends with a boss (though I'd suspect it limits to the smaller ones, Onyroki, Enenra, Kamitachi, Juro-Gumo, etc.). Sometimes spawns naturally when negative ki covers an area.

Lots of neat references for FF fans, and is esentially a prequel to the first game - which literally only matters for the final cutscene. FF games never (well, very rarely) really require you to be familiar with any other FF games. As an example - 15 is completely and entirely unrelated to 16 in any form, except that you fight can fight a Coeurl and ride a Chocobo. One is swords and dragons, one is a road trip in a sweet car with the bros. FF games reuse a lot of stuff like the magic naming convention, enemies, and sometimes character names (Cid, Mid, Biggs and Wedge, etc).
It is just a fun fantasy "kill shit git gear" game similar in style to TN's other games. I love both TN games and FF games, and had a blast with SoP. Stylish combat, a lot of different ways to approach situations, very mix-and-match job (mage, warrior, etc. also shared with the other FF games) system where your own creativity with builds can shine. The dialogue and most scenes is unintentionally hilarious and the story is fucking weird. The last boss is a cinematic masterpiece and is a ton of fun to kill. The first playthrough was pretty good, and the later endgame stuff was fun as well. It isnt a terrible long or complex game, but it is a blast for a few weeks to a month or so.

Hatchets really doing well in 3. I am so happy about it too. I really enjoyed them in 2, and they only got better. I do miss Deadly Spiral - muh spin 2 win. A solid AoE move (Dual Hawks kinda counts?) would be nice to have when all the little red spirit dudes surround me.
>>
>>558798027
Hatchets were my favorite in 2 and yeah, they're great in 3 as well. Spiked Wall worked on anything in 2 but it wasn't really a parry and now it behaves more like a parry in 3. Tile Shaker now working on yokai is cool too. I don't know why the removed Deadly Spiral but it might come back in the expansions. I do wonder if they'd keep it on the hold triangle input or move it somewhere else if they do bring it back. They already do have a very solid AoE move which is Heaven's Clash Wind. It doesn't do massive damage or anything but you can easily sit back and hit large crowds with it constantly.

Originally the duration buffs where 10x of what they are now (Oda was 10% buff for confusion, ebisu iirc was 30, shinran was a universal 60, etc.). Now if you try to duration-max you get maybe 1 extra second on buffs, 2 if they're longer than 30 seconds because it's a max of 10%. Had builds that really would've like buff duration.
>>
>>
>>558818417
I did beat all of the game NG and NG+ with Odachi. I used it almost exclusively throughout 2, and partially in 1. I wholeheartedly agree with you. It still feels fluid - I am a big Waking Winds/Sunset Breeze enjoyer. The numbers just aint there. Can I kill stuff? Sure. But I found myself swapping to Ninja to kill more than a few Yokai, like the Nupeppo and Waira you mentioned. Why tf is the new low light followup jump move like, triple the damage of Moonlit Snow Redux, and is faster. And not to mention Bolting Boar RIP.
I also have swapped to Axe. I am still getting a feel for it, so your tips are welcome and will be used this weekend to git gud with it. I have yet to attempt the parries just yet. Mostly trying to learn when to use all the various active skills, and which ones I like best. It really seems like there is no wrong answer. The Ki Pulse gap closer is taking some getting used to, but I can for sure see it will be amazing when I get the feel for it. The Shardblade/Shardplate/Living Weapon (I can never remember the name) moveset for the Axe is fantastic too. The charge attack being a massive slam nuclear bomb was exactly what I hoped it would be.

The best use case I can think of for the enhanced sand is to re-fight some bosses via small crucibles as they also, from my very limited testing, can have more novel mobbing scenarios. Can be fun if you downplay your gear to not over-level them so hard.
>Level theory
I think TN expected us to have +5 for the base end-game (when not doing level sync'd battle scrolls), with +10/15 being stretchgoals or maybe a hint on how the DLCs will be balanced (170+10 for next journey?). This doesn't explain why we unlock +15 to begin with but it's my crackpipe theory since it would explain why the highest natural drop I've seen was +5 in terms of divine level, and why 160+15 overlevels the base areas so fucking hard if not level-sync.
>Tengen Kujuku
We're all retarded, this shit persists even if you swap forms so even pure sam builds can just remember to swap into Ninja for a one-off use and swap back but without using an Onmyo slot. Lasts a good bit + decent accumulation when using it on Sam 2kat. Similar to Nioh 2 if you remember swapping yokai spirits for the sake of oni-bi soul cores.

I think it's automatic once you complete NG or very late into it. I don't recall there being a specific smithing text for it.
>>558840176
I think there's some derping from the devs because the world doesn't feel balanced for +15 gear, if you want Nioh 3 to still be hard while testing builds, stick to +5 (cheap as its the highest the base game drops). Maybe +10 if it's a bad build and you are fine farming for a metric fuck-ton of materials.
>>558845362
What are you needing?
>Yasakani / Divines
Crucibles are the best, A Sinister End the room with 3 vassals + some ranged folk + nurikabe's the best from my experience. You'll also get a ton of revenants who can drop a yasakani and rank you up in your clan.
>Amrita
No clue I naturally hit level cap from autism, former isn't a good amrita farm at least.
>Testing (Yokai)
Crucible Tour and Drawn to Yokai Essence are pretty decent gauntlets.
>Testing (Human)
Shinsengumi best to five. Demon's Regiment if you want a spearfag and if fine with fighting Yoshitsune/Kagetoki, beneath a white flag to get a switchglaive/archer opponent.
So apparently human takeda has a smithing text to farm. My first exposure to this was a revenant I just fought. Also confirmed "Melee Attack" means everything considering life steal melee attack is proccing off of skills.
>Set
Looks really good actually, 8% DMG on scorched (easy to apply) + 20% elemental weapon damage is strong (can be stronger than Inari depending if using other elemental weapon damage/DMG on scorched bonuses) alongside a self-applicable DMG reduction bonus as it has innate life recovery. For weight it's a bit heavy, as heavy as Malefactor, but not the fattest (Tatenashi/Sincere Buddha).
>>
>>558846724
>Takeda fag died to Yanamba
I must've stumbled into a trading spot, no way you wear heavy armor + switchglaive and die at the final hallway in Drawn to Yokai Essence. Also found a guy naked except for weapons.

Idk but easy way to test
>Go to training grounds
>Have 2 pieces of gear with Luck on Amrita Gauge
>Have 6pc Swallowtail bonus (luck = damage)
>Get max amrita gauge button near shrine
>test damage of a light attack with 1 piece of luck on amrita gauge versus having 2
It might require a yasakani as you need Sword + 4 swallowtail armor to have the leeway armor-wise but if you have accessories with the affix you might not need a Sam yasakani (grace doesn't matter).

That's crazy because even with the "bugged" or whatever it is costs you still have to do an ungodly amountbof farming to afford all the upgrading you have to do. I've only +15'd one weapon and only +14'd one other and two pieces of armor so far.

wtf are you guys babbling about? nioh 2 already "perfected" the demon summoning. the fact that it's way worse in 3 means that the devs intentionally made it worse as you're not a half demon like Hide so they don't want it to be integral to the combat like it was in 2

I was lied to buy a lot of videos about the game. So many videos said that Switchglaive is the hardest weapon to use. It wasn't. Just because it had so many stance switches doesn't mean it's hard. Also the attacks are slow enough that you can easily stance switch fast anyway. For me Cestus was harder.

The main issue with the idea is how despite having two builds to work with, you only have one stat spread (so if you're magic, good luck with making it work for samurai). That said if there was a way to do it, probably a Skill-based build because it is a stat both forms really appreciate, maybe get more comfortable with a ninja splash on a sam build (doing sam things until its time for elements/tengen kujuku, using Ninjitsu as your repeatable magic before swapping back).

In nioh2 ng+ can be completed in like 2 hours
Consider it a quick refresher on the enemies you fought gradually through the regular playthrough
Ng++ is quite interesting as enemies get new modifiers (the weird aura and random element augments) new placements, and often new attack behavior and movements
The bosses stay the same but since they all get more health ng+3 and beyond is more you mastering the game or out cheesing The game with an OP build
NG+ in Nioh isn't "just" a do-over
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>558887494
I heard from one of the reports that covered the restructuring of TN that it'll be released September. And I'd wage it will since it's very likely to coincide a new NG+ cycle so the new missions will stress test your gear/skill for that journey.
>>
>>558886715
>you only have one stat spread (so if you're magic, good luck with making it work for samurai)
You reforge your samurai weapons to scale off of magic then? If you're getting into build autism then you're at the end game where you'll be nitpicking your stats anyway.

The issue is that stats aren't just damage, putting points into magic that samurai can't use effectively means less points into Heart/Const/Stamina/Intellect for their associated bonuses. This is lessened if you have hit level cap (250) as you can either max two stats out or do heavy investment into multiple stats.

>Nioh 1/2
A new weapon type(s), a new NG+ cycle, a new region (can be done on current NG+ or new NG+), and new weapons/armors to fashion/build with. The 1st dlc introduces NG+2 which is where graces get introduced while NG+3 is when Ethereals get introduced. NG+4 is where ethereals are much more common and mainline sets get an extra ethereal set bonus to expand building options. If you treat Nioh as an ARPG more than an a typically action game than you're getting your money's worth with the new content + NG+ cycle to expand on the present systems within.
>Nioh 3 idiosyncrasies
Nioh 3 only has 2 DLCs and they're MUCH more spread apart than Nioh1/2, my expectation is for them to be more full on expansions akin to Shadow of the Erdtree with it being open world. I'd also suspect to be two weapons minimum per DLC to maintain symmetry between Samurai/Ninja. Also we already have divine graces despite being NG+1 (Shogun's Journey), and there is the chance they might be bloated with tons of returning armor/weapons (I wouldn't mind if it means more set bonuses to work with alongside a solid batch new to the game). Can Nobunaga please have a good set in one of these games.

After finishing the game earlier. Is it fair for me to say that Nioh 3 is not actually hard. I am talking about NG. Not NG+. I don't think I have plans for NG+.
I say this because I remember having a hard time in Nioh 1-2. But for some reason Nioh 3 is not as hard as I remember. Unless I remember wrong.
Don't get me wrong, I die a lot. And I mean a lot. But it's not at the level where I got frustrated like in previous games. I think the open world style is the reason for this. The only time I actually felt like I was getting pushed hard was the last crucible. And obviously the bosses. But that's it. Nioh 1 and 2 made me dread going into missions and fucking up a lot.

>Ive played 2 Nioh games and dont suck at the base game
This sounds more like a you problem
I distinctly remember coaching someone on gozuki, and getting them to try nioh3 through coop and the universal complaint for both games is "I have no stamina*
Also coming directly from souls he expected a dodge and take it mentality
The reality is people familiar with Nioh systems think in the Nioh way
Keep your resources working, keep your ki regenerating using spirit gauge moves
And exhibit borderline reckless aggression
Also the jumping trivializes a bunch of attacks

I mean like I said I die a lot still. But for the base game it felt like it was not as hard as I remember Nioh being.

Yes, more stats is always better even if it's not much on a point-per-point. 40 levels in Intellect can be an extra 15% more effect duration, extra Stamina can help with keeping B/A agility when going for remodels, so on and so forth.
>>558899719
Very, very, very build dependent. The typical thing is that higher NG+ demand more optimization on your build but tank builds, one-shot paralysis builds, spell spam and so on exist even on NG+4.

sword+gun
sword+shield
sword+claw (like Genshin from NG2)

sword whip/whip/bladed whip
bayonet rifle (could give samurai mode a hybrid ranged/melee weapon option)
tanto wielded by itself
kanabo (the spiked bat things)
twinblade

Clawblade was my favorite in WH but it probably would be way too strong if you tried to implement it in Nioh in the same way it functioned in WH. Ninja 2kat already sort of fills a vagually similar style with the way you can maneuver back and forth across an enemy with Divine Flight. They could probably just give ninja 2kat more aerial mobility skills like a triangle+left/right move that moves you around the enemy.

One of the few games where form change = versatility and not just "5 useless forms and the best form"
>Low stance
I don't know what projectile it doesnt deflect
It's also really good for ki damage in my opinion
>Mid stance
Good at core gameplay because of how the dodge works (step-dodge into roll)
>High stance
Appropriately the damage dealing stance
A bunch of long martial arts combos means its very oppressive against blocking foes
And then the character displacing moves of high (cyclone) and low (where you constantly spin the weapon around you as you step into an opponent) make the weapon innately evasive and aggressive at the same time
It's just a fun weapon
The stance morph attacks also preserve a large amount of recoverable ki which I don't recall as being a thing in nioh2
>>
>>

Block pressure and dodge punishes for days when against humans (high stance light into celestial retribution into mid stance light), really solid damage if you get familiar with the mystic art (switch stances often), and then Cyclone being good wind application in of itself.
>How pressure?
High stance light lets you go ignore block into celestial retribution (is a crucible skill). Also potential with windswept for mid stance, you can get to the former off your first light attack into high stance chain (will take getting used too for the exact timing and not ki-pulsing on accident though).
>>558917317
Carnage talisman is right there giving you a defense debuff if it's not specifically asking for element debuffs. Also a few weapon skills like Hatchets' All Ablaze and SG Rakshasha debuff you in some way if wanting a non-Onmyo method. Test with an "Ailing" prefix like DMG boost (Ailing).
>>
>>558918993
It isn't a cutscene telling you that, you go back to the past and weaken him by destroying the Crucibles after you lose to Kunimatsu and realise you can't win yet. In that sidequest you see an impurity you can't clear in the past, so you go back even further in the past to get the means to deal with it. In the main story you do exactly the same thing, both in cutscenes and gameplay.

In my experience Switchglaive is pretty dogwater at dealing with blocking. I swap to something else like Hatchets/Tonfa/Cesti for that. Switchglaive has an MA for dealing with block, Mind's Edge? In maps you can filter the symbols to those completed on the current difficulty. Found it really appreciated for filtering out the bloat on my map as I got everything on my first playthrough.
>left to right
Eye = See them on the map at all times, even if completed for the current/other journeys.
Eye (crossed out) = See them on the map only if you haven't completed them on the current journey.
Checkmark (crossed out) = Completely crosses them out on the map even if you haven't completed them on the current journey.
Question for the thread as I finally got a fukurokujo yasakani so I can start preparing my first set of build ideas, anything you'd want me to attempt testing out before I clear out my full inventory? (have a few tests of my own I want to attempt) Also want me to describe my builds for the sake of anyone having trouble on NG+? (the 2.5 I've tested aren't meta one-shots but still play Nioh 3 really well)

>tune in to a random nioh3 vod
>"nah [chatter] it's not that difficult. you can definitely do it"
>immediately gets hit by the death veil hand and takes 2k damage
>does about 15% of his hp
>another todo cheater
It will never not piss me off...

I checked that and checked Warring States, Heian and Bakamatsu on NG+ and I don't see any Crucible Spikes/Lesser Cruciblees and I have 83; people say that 84 is the cap. Just where is that last one that I'm missing?

I'll take easier revenant farming over them actually being good at the game and opening with lightning laser of death.

Might be in a crucible/side quest? But I can't immediately think of a crucible/side quest that involves a lesser crucible/crucible spike inside of it. Made sure to apply the settings to both journies?

I got all the achievements for clearing/obtaining all the checklist stuff before I started NG+

Sort of early on to help get early gear + unlock quests for later in the cycle (what you did in the previous journey doesn't unlock quests for the next one, so if you want the Hanzo fight you need to help him out, same for the requirements on Beneath a White Flag/Triple Triumph/Shinsengumi best of five/etc.). Once you're at the late game of NG+ then you don't really need to do them unless you want to test your build (Shinsengumi is a good human gauntlet for that matchup, Crucible Tour/Drawn to Yokai Essence for how you handle against yokai, etc.).

Oh no contest there. N3 is the weakest TN game for human women, but the strongest for yokai women (considering mermaid, jorogumo, and the return of kasha, my beloved).

>Tate Eboshi but as a Ninja or with deflects
ANON, I'M SUPPOSED TO BE TESTING INTERACTIONS AND YET HOW CAN I TAKE NOTES WITH THE BONER POKING MY DESK?
Any way here's the first wave of results, likely won't finish a second wave before its time for me to go to bed, that'll focus more on set bonuses (assuming I have sets to test amidst my random 2k items)
>Tachi Arts/Aerial Strike
Boosts Ninjitsu damage if wanting to help with ninjitsu damage. Other "melee damage" bonuses don't seem to apply, whether it's a flat Melee DMG from Kyokotsu seals or Full Moon Kata.
>Illusory Dragon
Checks for if the enemy doesn't have the ailment rather than if something else exists alongside it (so lightning doesn't get boosted if they have lightning + other element).
>Mid-air Ninjitsu
For some-fucking this just reduces your damage at baseline? I tested to confirm and you just deal less damage while mid-air with ninjitsu. Ascension works but did Hiruko code this?
>Streamflow
Still lets you perform Biggest Bomb as generation halts the decay for a second so they act as combo enders. Also stacks with Enhanced Style Shift if wanting to really spam Biggest Bomb (you can style shift mid-air for flexibility) at half a string.
>Extended Elemental Weapon (Seals affix)
10% per so if you can get these on both soul cores, VERY helpful for Shadowclad Inari builds. It's an uncommon affix of status application so note that when picking seals to try and get this on (idk if you can get to status application affixes on a single seal).
>Gamo (clan bonus at Elder)
A full quick attack string from Nin2kat is 15% extra damage. And this shit boosts Ninjitsu damage too if you cancel into it??????? Doesn't boost Onmyo/Seals damage though.

Sudama Blessings under Blessings at the shrine. Lets you target farm items you've seen (so it can be some time until you get the sam/ninja yasakanis to put those on). How hard it targets the item is dependent on how many items you've "managed" (sold/dismantled/soul extracted/offered for amrita/donated for glory). Also pray for me because I'll be testing seals interactions, here's to hoping if I can get anything to boost their damage or if they're completely to your weapon's attack rating or something.

Shu Yao (plant lady) was the first boss of DLC 3, they really went crazy with the gameplay in that one. Even Nioh still doesn't have anything as hectic as Yuan Shu yet, but I'm hoping 3's DLC has huge enemy power creep.
