Level 4. I've been gaming with a couple pals and one of them is super into Techmarine so I've been levelling Sniper with them. Dragged 'em through the weekly hard strat yesterday with my maxed Tac buddy, the Techmarine friend, and myself on a P3L18 sniper and had a great time. Neurothropes and Extremis no longer existing anymore is a fantastic feeling and I'm an HBSR convert now. Can't be assed to play Techmarine otherwise though, the lack of voice shit is surprisingly off putting.

Techmarine was fun for a day and once the novelty wears off you realize all the glaring issues.
Bad ammo economy and your best gun is basically the new heroic HBR
Your only team perk worth a shit is the turret one which brings us to the tarantulas.
Tarantulas placement doesn't always fit your needs, sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't, especially when you don't play with bots and the other guys keep pushing you end up not even bothering setting turrets up.
The sniper servo which is 200% gonna get nerfed.
His only knockback immunity is only on inexorable salvo but the perk is shit especially compared to the other 2 while other classes have stagger/knockback immunity on stuff like parry/shield bash/rush
In the end the only redeeming qualities I find him funnily enough are the omnissian axe and how you can now incorporate gun strikes in the middle of your meleeing without getting a forced cutscene.
Then on top of class mechanics you add the lack of customization, the bugs, the lack of voice...
Rather disappointing if you think about it.

Every other class has to make that split-second decision to take a gunstrike on a carnifex swing because it can't stagger like a Helbrute but the Techmarine doesn't even need to fear the retaliatory 2nd swing after the 1st swing gets parried.

I think Neuros are less annoying than a carnifex.
Yeah sometimes you have so many things between you and the neuro that closing the map makes you run off and then get smacked by the barrier if you're not paying attention but a carnifex that's far from you will, without any visual indicator or warning, will spine bunker you for shittons of damage AND stagger.
At least certain bolt weapons can absolutely fuck up a neuro's health, shaving a carnifex's HP takes a bit more concentrated effort.

The problem with the Neurothrope, and by extension the Zoanthropes, is that it's the worst sort of RNG encounter in this game. If you have a Tactical, Sniper or now Techmarine, fantastic, they die in a comical amount of time. But not only are they a boss wholly determined in difficulty by your team line-up, their difficulty also varies based on where they spawn, or the density of the horde that spawns with them. If they're WAAAAY in the back behind a wall, and start dropping wall-piercing beams or AOE bubble blasts after they land, that shit ends runs very consistently.

The neuro is unique just because it is either completely unbearable because of a combination of team comp and where it spawns, or a complete joke that just requires you to dodge occasionally while pressing M1 on its big forehead. It's extremely rare that it's an actually engaging and fun challenge, and you don't ever get to style on it with perfect dodges/parries

it doesn't even need to be in the battle barge, they just need to add a terminal somewhere that spawns the player outside of the battle barge and in a sizeable training room where you can spawn every type of enemy and adjust their difficulty or just turn them into a punching bag
they don't even need to add backgrounds or shit, it can just be a generic 40k training arena or pure white block grids

Applies contested HP, not real HP through his active ability on 1 single marine of choosing. Can probably only use it like 3-4 times across a whole mission because the regen is so slow.

So I imagine they're going to change Absolute and Normal/Hard stratagems to be even harder. And once you hit prestige 1 a new leveling system will unlock on top of it. It will give incremental 1% damage / HP increases and cost a combination of all the resources we've gathered so far. It will basically become a requirement to grind these forever as they continue to bloat enemy HP and damage forcing people to spend more and more resources just to keep up.

Presuming you're >>559025050 you've literally defeated your own damn argument.
Heavy is the second tankiest class in the game in regards to damage taken = death. He's able to get 130% HP through a perk, he's got a couple of damage reduction perks on top, and his Heavy Plasma Incinerator is still one of the best weapons in the game. Heavy is the best all-rounder in the game, and you've got him in fucking low B-tier behind Sniper who provides borderline jack shit beyond popping Thropes fast, something both Tactical and now Techmarine do just as well but provide more for the team. The inclusion of Chaos Spawn completely decimated Sniper's ability to deal with the Thousand Sons, he's borderline unplayable against them on Absolute.
And nobody beats Assault for mogging hordes now, not even Bulwark. Assault does it faster thanks to the constant chained AOE damage by just jump evading everything completely safe and then gaining retard damage bonuses every time he does it.

You know what's the worst part about it? You're probably not too far off the mark. This hits very close home, considering it's Saber we're talking here. It's all so tiresome, I just want the game to be simple in its design and the game director and co. are hellbent on making the experience painful.

Assault is easy S-tier on Chaos now. Low A on Tyranids because he dogs them just as hard, but the moment any of the floating big brain family turns up, he's up shit creek if he's without any assistance to cover for him.

I find assault much better against nids because they actually swing at you letting you get perfect dodges. Neuro isn’t bad at all on assault just a bit dull since you’re waiting for it to land, zoans can be ground pounded to soften them up and the heroic heavy bolt pistol handles them decently well after. Chaos are deeply boring, because you aren’t getting many dodges or perfect blocks off the only really good weapon for them is fist (hammer is alright too) which is such a ducking boring weapon to use. Against nids though I can actually have fun with the heroic chainsword or a powersword and do combos while perfecting dodging mid hit when needed.

Now that assault has more choices in their prestige perks i’ve been trying to gauge how often that one is actually helping me and it’s surprisingly not that often because of the slot system. He has one thing going for him once you get to absolute, his sniper servo turret annihilating tyrranid bosses - its not terrible vs chaos but the problem is you are not fighting one boss at a time with a 2 min cd for your 'boss kill' ability to come back. I routinely have a Helbrute and 4 TS terminators at the same time. I just did an absolute disruption and before the bridge had a helbrute, 4 termies, another helbrute and a sorcerer. One of the termies blew up the single turret that spawned with his rockets in his opening salvo - there goes my servo cd regen, there goes my damage resist and damage bonus. He spawned across the gap and started firing before anyone could do anything.
No one else is as gimped and tied to rng like Techmarine and the worse part is that AT BEST when things 'go your way' its mediocre. How in the actual fuck do we have a worse equipment returne than tactical then 3 other talents built around spamming it? His equipment on exe cd needs to be cut down in half - they clearly have some inclination to make him bomberman but tripped on the last hurdle.
I am not saying he doesn't have high damage. My problem is it lasts about 10 secs and then he is basically a lvl 10 Tactical for 3-4 mins and in that time you fight 2 more extremis and 3 more waves - while no other class suffers from such a shitty downtime in their power output.

Techmarine is low B or high C tier, definitely one of the weakest classes.

Hey lads, just checking in now that I've gotten the time to play a bit of techmarine and the new op. Was curios what you all thought of it. For techmarine it feels good to play at least in the lower difficulties, the axe is pretty intuitive to use and the backgun feels like I have heavy bot with me all the time plus after a bit of acclimating to it doing the gun strike I feel more efficient. Granted I'm grinding it in close range probably way more than I have to but thats mainly due to still figuring out what guns to use. Turrets have been more miss than hit though. Feels like I have to get lucky to have a turret spawn within sight of a horde thats also isn't close enough and dense enough that I'm not risking damage/wasting time activating them. Even in the maps with a holdout section like inferno I've had that shit spawn in possibly the worst place it could have. Also what red have you guys been using for him? Been using evil suns red but it and the one they have for the techmarine sample palette still feel wrong
New op is pretty cool conceptually at least. Seeing nids and chaos duke it out and more cadian presence was a nice change of pace. Also another op that doesn't have a boss encounter finally. Granted the narrative of the op feels hyper-disjointed and I'm fairly certain its still nominally a chaos since most of the extremis and boss spawns I had in the few chances I've played it have all been chaos. I think it might be the easiest "chaos" mission since they have to share the lead role but its not that much worse than the nid no-boss ops so its a welcome change.

It gets boring using nothing but the HBR. I've tried to make the Bolt Rifle work and it just does not have enough ammo even when I'm trying to be frugal with it. It takes way too many fucking rounds just to kill ONE (1) majoris, and that's even if you manage to play perfectly and land every single shot to the head (body shots do such a pathetic amount of damage that you may as well have not hit them at all).
If they insist on not making drastic changes to the ammo economy and/or weapon damage across the board(and they won't, because they're stubborn faggots who insist their vision for the game is best even though none of them can complete a match on absolute)then Tech Marine needs to be given something to help with his ammo economy so he can get out of HBR hell. Even just giving him Auxiliary Reload would at least be SOMETHING. Considering he actually has a melee weapon he has more of a reason to have it than Heavy does.

I've never run out. Relic HB and HBP. I also basically just use the Relic HB 24/7, purely headshots, grenade launching when there is a giant pack of mediums or exotics who need to die quickly.

Genuinely map breaking. They are so common, and make the experience so much easier, I take the perk that increases damage and ammo and I also use the perk that gives flat resistance and increased damage because I don't think either of the other perks are really that useful. They're monsters, they rip mediums and extremis to shreds, they're a great gimmick to dodge damage with the prestige perk, often I just go afk around them and they do all the work.
>Equipment build/regen
This is where he falls flat, I don't bother with it. Its just not necessary on him and too RNG to get the right nades, it also interferes with his real build which is
>Precision Servo + Targeted AoE
This combo is a fucking beast, and people are understating it. It not only one taps Neuros, it also 70% removes the HP of any other boss which are almost always the lose factor for matches with randoms. You can also use it a hell of a lot more than just bosses, it can wipe out packs of mediums or extremis so easily its definitely OP. I don't find the basic or plasma version even though they have more ammo and more uses across a mission contributes more than this. You need to understand when and where bosses spawn though.
>Ranged damage
Never have any issues, its about the same TTK
>Melee
I don't really use it, the new relic knife is nice for faster kills, but the top row + charging build with the relic omni is also very strong. Its boring to spam charging attacks point blank but it works anyway.
Anyway imo hes strong, definitely one of the better classes.

The one time I had a boss spawn close to valtus it was a hellbrute that spawned in just after he destroyed the barrier so while me and the boys were fighting it at the start of the bridge I look in the background as valtus does his heldrake spot and proceed to attack the enemies that spawned on the other end of the bridge and ignoring us. Probably just a fluke but it felt more personal considering that once inside the cathedral I've seen him slaughter the whole field for us

Frustrating class that I wont touch again once I max it. Half the class revolves around turrets, the other half on your servo gun. The problem comes from the first part, the turrets have set places where they "can" spawn but that doesn't mean they will spawn where you need them. The only team perk that isn't absolute dogshit is the turret one ironically, so what you bring to the team is extemely limited while other classes can bring buffs that are always active and work all the time. Not to mention that for your team to take advantage of that buff they also need to stay in the vicinity of your tarantula which you have zero guarantee they will and honestly if they know how to play the game they never will because they will have cleared whatever wave was coming before your tarantula starts having a meaningful impact.
Most people have been playing techmarine solo with bots since everyone wants to try him and don't realize that, they're happy doing their solo run glued to any tarantula they find while objectively in a team it's a toss up whether you'll even be useful at any point of the map other than the terminus fight.
Overall this would have been fixable if instead of grenades the tech carried deployable tarantulas and you could have given him a perk to recover tarantula uses over time or on extremis kills.
As for the new OP, it feels really short.
Half baked class, half baked new map, half baked update but please understand we have deadline tovarich. Clearly a skeleton crew.

I think I'll go with Xenophase blade for my bulwark next . Sure it's balanced so it is by default crap but one can't ignore the damage and the boost it gives to power rake. Plus I feel like Quartus can just shield block if I mess up the timings (which I will cause I used balanced so scarcely I might not have used it at all).

The Tarantulas should have been the class ability, and the Servo-Gun should have just been an innate part of him that shoots at shit alongside you, but had the same damage as a Bolt Pistol in exchange. Think the Guard Dogs from Helldivers.
Nobody into engineer classes wants their turrets to be some RNG aspect of their character.

I was super tempted to buy the Salamanders pack just for that icon and the snake one to do a better Iron Snake. I wish they didn't half ass the customization. If they would've done the Exorcists properly with their rune covered armor, it would've been perfect for a Word Bearer. I kinda made a 30k version that worked, but even back then they had inscriptions on their armor, so it still looked a bit off. I chose Assault because Argel Tal was a jump pack bro in The First Heretic.

Omnissian Axe feels great to me aside from one thing.
The damn overhead swing has so much recovery. You're not allowed to dodge out of it if you're locked in the animation.
But detonating the AOE explosion after the swing has basically no recovery, you're safer doing that after a single swing than ever doing multiple axe swings.

This right here is one of the reasons I just leave the reinforcement call = explosion perk on. I know it's probably not optimal but it feels fucking miserable having Radiating Impact go off when the very first minoris in a mission decides to lunge at you. Especially when I can abuse the fuck out of Second Look to pop one Majoris every fight while maintaining Auspex for a better opportunity.

A Terminus can first spawn in the large area just before the drop to the bomb area
It can also spawn inside the bomb area, fuck your life if its a Neurothrope
The last spawn point is near the final lift
I believe Saber steathily nerfed Terminus spawns where boss battles are already present e.g Exfiltration (except for Termination because the game does not classify the Biotitan as a Terminus so Absolute runs can easily spawn 2)

I got my Techmarine to rep1, overall I like the class since I like defensive play with turrets and such BUT I get why people might find it too passive and unexciting with the class ability and weapon selection.
Ironically for a defensive class it has very low self-sustain (maybe they'll swap class perks around so he gets more team equipment and armor regen) and insane boss damage (throw a grenade to up your damage, activate the servo gun with the right perks and any terminus is almost dead).
Overall I'll wait with leveling him further until people stop hogging him, some of his perks are ironed out and hopefully they fixed the fucking bugs.
