>FAQ:
>Q: How often should I long rest?
>A: Many companion and romance interactions occur when long resting. Some early lower priority camp scenes can also be missed if higher priority ones are queued. To advance companion quests or romances, make sure to long rest often.
>Q: Can I recruit Minthara without going down the evil path?
>A: If you knock her out in Act 1, yes. You do miss out on the sex scene, but otherwise the romance remains the same.
>Q: Underdark or Mountain Pass?
>A: Either, or both. It's recommended to clear both on higher difficulties for the experience and loot. Both connect to the same Act 2 map.
>Q: Is The Dark Urge essentially "Tav+"?
>A: Yes. You get additional content, BUT there are points where, if you've chosen to resist the Urge and/or don't complete quests the "right" way, you'll have to pass additional checks to avoid losing companions.
>Q: Are there any consequences to consuming tadpoles?
>A:No, for the most part. However if you've consumed any tadpoles, there will later be a DC 21 Wisdom check to reject the Astral-Touched Tadpole, which affects your appearance if consumed.
>Q: Should I enable Karmic Dice?
>A: Karmic Dice will avoid streaks of low rolls, both for you and the enemy. It is recommended to disable it if you're specializing.

Obviously. Giving Shadowheart cult tattoos would have been heavy-handed, not to mention dubiously justified from a lore perspective. Worship of Shar, the goddess of darkness and secrecy, is not something you ink on your skin to display your faith to the world.

I hate what they did with the "dream guardian" and emperor plotline. Down By The River is the game's leitmotiff and the lyrics are all about how (in the early access) your brain worm was conjuring hallucinations to seduce you to come and "lay with it" .. down by the river in your dream. It was poignant and germane to the game's main plot and when you realize that after your first few goon dreams with her/him you go
>WOAH
>That's so cool!
...now it is completely devoid of meaning. It has no relevance to the story or characters at all, which makes it incredibly out of place given not only its status as leitmotiff, but the fact that the only other vocal tracks are a song sung by a bard for her dead mentor, and a narcissistic boss character singing a song about himself as the boss theme for his boss battle, etc.
Seriously, what in the fuck were they thinking? Was this another product of the "consultants" they brought on board in late 2022?

It’s his only card to play. He’s not freeing himself, and if he insists the party prioritize his survival, they’ll just see him as another selfish Illithid. It has a slim chance of working, which is better than zero.
And judging from how the community typically speaks of Omeluum, it’s effective. The “pick me squid” strategy works.

dude there are so many different builds holy shit you can play the game in a billion ways!
>90% of builds just use the same conditions and damage riders where the main damage source is just a different color of damage number
>the others just involve stacking acuity or abusing the AI into not attacking you via darkness or arcane ward/retarded high AC
alright i guess

Anyone else here play Tactician Plus? I ducked it when it first came out since it seemed obnoxious but gave the most recent version a try. It's actually really fun to use it with +100% enemy HP (up from+30% base tactician) and the new enemy mod to add their proficiency bonus to their rolls. Though, also, I play with 1d20 initiative instead of the game's 1d6 or 1d8 or whatever it is.
>>
>>559054000
>trippies of trvkes
me though, i also use the additional encounters mod and no follower limit so it makes the game feel a little more like an rts sometimes but it does make the bigger battles feel exhilirating with the sense of scale, like being able to split your party into thirds to fight ragzlin, minthara and gut at the same time managing all three concurrent battles simultaneously across different parts of the map
or the siege on ketheric's tower actually feeling like a massive battle again with the ability to split your party up and have them fighting their way through the tower seperately, one above and one below

Imagine being gnome sized and casting enlarge person on laezel and letting her push out huge giant sized wet and thick farts into your face and holding the stinky gas deep in your lungs like a bong hit until you breathe involuntarily to stay alive
>>
>>559054379
It makes a pretty big difference on whether it's worth it or not to use a spell slot to for example cast Hold Person or Command: Grovel vs just right clicking or going for an immediate damage spell or honestly even just a cantrip in many cases. Why bother using complex tactics or even just basic debuffs when you can just pour on a mountain of damage because the strongest enemies in the game rarely exceed 120 HP except a handful of standout lategame bosses that have HP in the ~600 range.
At the very start of the game Lae'zel can output 12-44 damage on the first turn. Unless you go out of your way to not long rest often you really have no reason not to be using your characters spell slots and special abilities. Enemies feel so fragile even in Tactician that before now I'd gimp myself by not using poisons or barrels or the terrain e.g. shooting down chandeliers or abusing surfaces because they'd die so fast.
tl;dr I wouldnt get on anyone's case for not using the HP boost but I do think the game would have hugely benefitted from having enemies have enough HP to survive at least a single turn so the player has a reason to consider doing anything other than directly dealing damage
>>559054365
I thought about that mod too, but I didn't like some of the screenshots I saw. Do the enemy placements make sense?
>>
>>
>>
>>559057227
>Do the enemy placements make sense?
more or less. some of them feel kind of weird but most of them are kino. for example there's a minotaur on the bridge where the dead adventurers and goblins are , while astarion's boar was moved nearby in the woods. there's a bugbear + kobold encounter at the abandoned harper's camp and another bugbear + warg encounter where the roast with the dagger sticking out of it is. they fill out a lot of the empty areas with enemies that make great environmental storytelling. but like i said some of them are just still weird. there's a gang of kuo-toa on the reefs guarding the scuffed rock hiding the harpers map which are still technically fitting but i don't consider them on the same level as the others i already talked about

This is an overgeneralization. The best part about BG3 being a relatively easy game is that a player can indeed express their creativity, as long as they have a basic understanding of mechanics. The tendency to abuse mechanics such as Arcane Acuity is only the concern of the min-maxer, and is far from necessary for the average player. An Eldritch Knight ice archer using Snowburst Ring to create ice surfaces is already plenty strong without resorting to any gimmicks, let alone abusing the AI behavior, which borders on cheating. Consider not relegating your Cleric to a Radiating Orb support role, and a world of possibilities opens.

i think that the optimization for those games is still easy. even though it's called optimizing, nobody is actually doing optimization, your result is not optimal in a measurable way. you read all the build options and pick a few in your head that work especially well together, they pretty much always work first try.
actually i think bg3 is one of the least easy games to "optimize" in this way, because you need some basic understanding of probability to compare advantage to bonuses. a ten year old probably couldn't explain when you should use advantage and when a +1d8 bonus. but a ten year old could produce a wotr build that can complete the highest difficulty.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>559053243
90% of the game is either avoiding encounters so you can use your single use short/long rest abilities on fights for some semblance of self-imposed build variety, IE playing the game as a point and click adventure entirely devoid from builds, or just using the same cantrips over and over because short resting/long resting every single encounter is tedious and gay. if i wanted to play RTWP and spam rests every encounter id play nwn or iwd

I read somewhere that could game the system by accepting the quest, stopping the ritual by getting Halsin back then stealing the idol and giving it to Mol. Personally I've always turned her down, even when I fully supported them due to role-playing/Background reasons; so I can't tell if it indeed works. Mechanically it makes sense but this is the kind of "exploit" that's also easy to fix by a patch.
>>559047092
Try turning your preexisting knowledge about Act 1 to your advantage! Not in the sense to grab the best items ASAP but more like attempting to solve battles and quests in a more creative manner. Kind of pushing the boundaries of the systems!
>>
>>559064394
The only thing that makes BG3 "less easy" is because:
1. "Builds" are almost entirely reliant on finding very specific and easily missable pieces of gear amongst a SEA of utter dogshit garbage
2. None of the back-end damage calcs are explained to you. Even if you understand tabletop rules and everything implicit with that the game doesn't tell you at all how shit like damage riders work
People hype this game up as having a shit ton of build variety when ultimately there are maybe like 10 extremely good pieces of gear that clearly synergize really well with each other, and then the rest of it is just misc bullshit that is only situationally useful like 1% of the time.

What do you think builds are? Some retarded mishmash of shit some new player comes up with because they didn't find any good gear in their playthrough that can barely do enough damage by act 3 because they thought barb/paladin was a cool multiclass is not fun to emulate.
>>
>>
>>
>>559065145
Getting the idol after the ritual stops is a kind of a loophole. The Tiefling kids want it because that's their only way to stop the ritual and thus postpone (or even prevent) the sealing of the Grove from the outside world and thus their own expelling. You have multiple ways of achieving this (get Halsin back, expose/kill Kagha, mass-murder the druids etc.) but once it's done the side quest with Mol should be auto-cancelled, as the original motivation behind it ceased to exist. You can argue that the idol is still useful for Mol because of it's monetary value but unless this is explicitly stated in a dialogue I'm afraid this is an oversight by the developers. So this is a method that technically allows you to complete this quest and get the reward but you know this was clearly not the original intention behind it.

My point is that you'd have to be terribly inexperienced with CRPGs, or actively limit yourself with nonsensical multiclassing, to create a non-functional character in BG3. A Fighter is as basic as it gets - you get to attack 3 times per round at level 11 - and adding some flair in the form of an ice-themed Eldritch Knight creating ice surfaces and using Ray of Frost doesn't require esoteric knowledge. That is a build and it works reasonably well. It doesn't need to be fancy or abuse mechanics.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>559064594
...????
so you refuse to engage with the game's mechanics in good faith and cheese it because you don't like going to camp to trigger camp events talk to your party members and restore your resources
then blame the game because you have 0 self control and apparently, ADD
>>
>>
>>559066606
>it's a loophole
well, the game isn't reactive enough to account for that.
if we're talking about how things *aught* to be, you aught to be able to get the ring of protection just by killing the person who has it.
but since these things are scripted, isn't it only normal for anon to treat them as such?

Then you have your answer. I don't have the transcript of what Arabella says after saving her but I remember the primary motivation was what I mentioned above. As I said above this "sell the idol for cash" works as a reason to be able to finish the quest even after putting a stop on the ritual but that's it. One could ask why it's not possible to initiate the quest after the ritual was abandoned (the idol is worth just as much cash then - why can't I stole for Mol once it's not being "used"?) but that would come off as hairsplitting.
>>559069664
Fair enough. Consistency tend to be an ever present issue in CRPGs anyways. We know what's the state of things in a technical sense, and everybody can decide how he wants to handle the given situation. If anon felt taking the idol after Kagha was exposed is okay then it's his game and fun. Scripting is not an issue here as any possible outcome could've been relatively easy to implement.

I genuinely struggle to ever find an opponent against which I actually would use GWM/SS. It seems it always goes
>Deactivating the passive: 90% chance to hit
>Activating the passive: 50% chance to hit
Like, I am losing WAY more damage by using the passive than by not using it. And the issue is that you'd then obviously use it for the ones that don't go that low, but I never ever find anyone who doesn't go that low, even if I equip + to hit equipment or use oils and shit.
>>
>>559085568
bless + str elixir is usually enough to have a good hit percent chance in the early game for gwm. maybe add an oil of accuracy on top. that being said, savage attacker is better than gwm if you have a bunch of damage sources on hit, like a paladin using divine smite, or booming blade + caustic band + whatever else
>>
>>559085568
The magic word isProne. This is probably the easiest way to generate yourself Advantage against a target. There are multiple ways to overcome that -5 to attack rolls but this is the ultimate goal. The Risky Ring will solve this question once and for all but you also have other options (like the Glove that gives A. if you're surrounded by 2 or more enemies or the Undermountain King when used as a stat stick) in the meantime. Inflicting status effects that do the same is probably a more universal and versatile way though.

>Got a quest to find a mail letter that I sold hours and hours of gameplay ago.
I knew it. I fucking knew it. Every damn rpg. Every goddamn rpg with this fucking shit.
They always get you to get annoyed. They dump hundreds upon hundreds of books and letters on you. I even got an achievement for reading a 100 books the other day. Then they get you to relax. You're 50 hours into the game and not a single book or letter has actually been quest relevant, right? You're in the safe. You can just dump these hundreds of books and letters at the vendors who can pay for them and let go.
And then some fucking cunt goes all "Hey, can you get this one unmarked letter for me? It's lost around X area" and you remember you already looted a bunch of letter from there like 6 sidequests ago and can't even remember in which of the myriad merchants in the game you sold the damn thing.
FUCK. WHY DO DEVS KEEP DOING THIS.
>>
>>
>>559088968
That's precisely the one.
I did the temple assassination quest first. Passed through the roof, met Gayle's not-a-cat during the investigation, got a bunch of letters from it.
Like, 6-7 hours of gameplay afterwards, I enter the damn post office. And now I can't for the life of me find out which merchant I dropped that letter to.

Not a tranny, and you have it backwards. Vaginal attributes influence and predict certain personality traits, obviously not the other way around.

Fun fact: you can also hand the letter you found on Scratch's original owner to the postmaster. As a matter of fact he is the author himself! I only brought this up since we're talking about unmarked letters looted ages ago. Pretty cool little detail, huh?
>And now I can't for the life of me find out which merchant I dropped that letter to.
Are you still in Rivington? The area only has a few vendors (definitely more if you add Sharess' Caress too) but the point is they always keep whatever you sold to them. I know it's annoying but the item ("Bundle of Letters") shouldn't be that hard to find.
Besides I can only recommend to dedicate a unique container that you always carry with you for such purposes. Pic rel is my favorite for any books or paperwork that can still be relevant in the Act. It even has a one-of-a-kind book icon in the inventory!

Yeah I actually got that, because while looking for the letter, I bought back every piece of paper I've ever sold to Dammon and apparently he was the one I sold the Scratch delivery to.

i don't really care that you are a lesbian (male). first of all, that's disgusting, second of all it doesn't matter, your woman brain means you are not able to observe personalities accurately. there is a 100 to 1 chance you hallucinated some pattern after seeing two things and have just been trying to justify it to yourself ever since.
it's not even your fault, i don't hate you for it, but you should know what are your strengths and your weaknesses.

GWM/Sharpshooter imposes a flat 25% penalty, so your numbers don't align. As for when a 90 - 25 = 65% chance to hit with GWM/Sharpshooter is preferable to a 90% chance to hit without, that is a simple inequality. Solving 0.65x + 10 > 0.90x gives a break-even point for x of 40. If you would deal less than 40 base damage in that scenario - effectively always - adding GWM/Sharpshooter is mathematically superior in the long run. The only exception is when an enemy is at death's door and GWM/Sharpshooter would impose an unnecessary hit chance penalty.
>>
>>559089584
Yes, the category is called "Clothing". Anything with the "Light/Medium/ Heavy Armor" tag is out of question. Their base AC is always 10 but both Barbs and Monks have extra mechanisms (on top of the DEX bonus) that compensate them.
>and how do i see how much damage my fists do?
Hover over the fist icon on the action bar. That's a Weapon Action called "Unarmed Attack" which is the unarmed equivalent of the "Main Hand Attack". Or just open the inventory and hover over the "Damage" line below your char's weapon slots and AC value.
>>559090609
You see? It was this simple. Note that you can open the "Bundle of Letters" and read them despite the postmaster's instructions but there will be consequences. Maybe save the game, read them for some cool lore, then reload and finish the quest however you want it.
>>
>>559089584
It means wearing only stuff not tagged light/medium/heavy armor. Or wearing nothing. On TT there's a limit of three good magic items you can wear because they demand attunement so a monk does really only need a necklace or staff and a pair of rings and can otherwise run naked.
>>
>>559091313
>You see? It was this simple.
Well, no, because Dammon still didn't have the one he actually asked for. I've searched high and low for it and I have no idea where it ended up.
And I definitely already read them because I found them outside the quest and obviously I just open everything I find.

My bad, I misread the Dammon part of your post! In you broke the bundle it turned into "Anonymous letter", "Letter about Taxes" and "Postmaster Shipment Enquiry". Perhaps the last one is enough to complete the quest. Either way you didn't break anything with the postmaster but the outcome will be slightly different.

multiclass after hitting level 6, this is dnd 5e's greatest blunder, leveling up feels like shit most of the time
>>
>>559096814
Flavor: Wizards are book nerds who study hard like fucking nerds. Sorcerers are those cunts who just naturally pick shit up and never seem like they have to work hard.
Mechanically: Larger spell pool to pull from and can freely switch out what spells you want access to without needing to replace them at the level-up screen.
Evocation lets you nuke enemies without needing to worry about where your party is.
Abjuration has some broken bullshit with Armor of Agathys iirc
Divination, while tedious, lets you effectivelly counter enemy actions by giving them a failing roll result.
Kinda doesn't matter though because most of the time you're just getting people wet and zapping them regardless of subclass.
>>
>want to build an abjuration wizard high AC tank with aoa/storm cleric for reaction hits
>no enemies in the game will ever attack you
>while this allows you to basically operate freely, it kind of defeats the point of what i was hoping to achieve

basically a god in tabletop. creating an army of undead, sending your clones on adventures, parting the ocean, succubus familiars, golem crafting, planar binding demons...
but this isn't tabletop. in bg3 wizard has less blasting than a pure sorcerer but you have a much larger spellbook, allowing you to react to specific scenarios. you won't get any of the tabletop stuff that creates a power gap between wizard and the other, lesser, classes. and you wouldn't want to control an army of undead in bg3 anyway, it would be a massive pain.
personally i like bladesinger, it's a gish (mage/melee) that has less burst than swords bard but higher ac and much better spell availability, while fitting well with the artifact/elixir availability in the base game.

One day I should play a Half-Orc STR Monk who dumps DEX the same way it's customary with STR. He gets TB but no Giant elixirs. He uses Gloves of Dexterity to fix his Initiative and AC even if it prevents him from using all those elemental bracers. I'd also treat his WIS as a tertiary (so instead of DEX ≥ WIS > CON make it STR > CON > WIS) for the sake of variety. Could be interesting if one played Monk already. Maybe a Drunken Master run with all complementary equipment?

Wasn't that an overreaction? This is a flavor build after all. Your primary motivation behind playing them is rarely rational, it's more about what's cool and spectacular in it's own way. Bare-knuckle fighting is a much better fit for a drunken brawler anyways.

Yeah this is so retarded in BG3, no idea why party members don't also roll in dialogue or boost your stats for most skill checks. Some make sense like if you have to pass a mind reading skill check but if it's a knowledge check or an insight check then surely everyone in the party should roll/or boost your skill because you're connected through the tadpole and can literally communicate telepathically
>>
>>559108749
This most bugs me with shopping. The discount (or increase) in price should take into account your whole party's CHA, not just the specific person talking. If the face is a CHA character and the other three have 8 CHA, then you shouldn't be getting a discount. If someone charismatic tried to sweet-talk me while surrounded by hardened criminals, I will not be endeared to them, I'll be suspicious and on guard.
>>
i know that swen dislikes classes in his rpgs but getting unique fighter/wizard/barbarian dialogues is so much fun, there even unique race AND class dialogue sometimes like druid tiefling tavs in act 1, I wouldnt mind divinity having classes

No, Rogue is literally the worst class in the game. There's never any reason to go Rogue except as a multiclass to get the level 3 subclass and the feat at level 4. You should never go any higher than 4 in Rogue.
