I kinda like the attempt of making Lothraxion a somber dungeon boss because he's a friend who's misguided and now stands as an enemy at a turning point in the story.
It's very much like what XIV tries to do, only it completely falls flat because it's impossible to care about Lothraxion because he's a 2D character whose only purpose in the story is to be "le light le bad" and an angry unlikeable fuck.
I can see what they were going for, and I can see a world where it would have some emotional resonance, but holy fuck - the writing in Worlo sucks.

people want good writing. thats it. plain and simple. everything else is secondary. people who think "wows story would be fixed if it was about something else" are delusional. the SAME FUCKING WRITERS would write that new story. it will be bad. the same people who wrote the retarded cosmic jailer crap will write the down to earth faction war. it will be abysmal dogshit either way. the story will still be a disjointed clusterfuck because blizz axes entire patches and rewrites the entire story at the last minute. every patch is designed to be an isolated stand alone piece of content so it can be jammed in whatever space is left over once blizz is done cutting content. just add a tiny bit of set dressing like "the villain ran away to here" or "the macguffin moved to here" and thats all the story required to make a new patch island
