I liked Shiori although most of my chats with her end up being very one-note, after the big reveal there really isn't a reason to keep going.

Effort is good. Misdirected effort should be called out productively. Blades of Mirum is not an example of misdirected effort. I actually rather enjoyed engaging with the combat system it introduced, made my shonenfagging feel more meaningful. I think the worldbuilding was a bit stale, and there are some imperfections to be ironed out through experience, but that's not the end of the world. It's a good card.
